Mary and the Interior Life

Did you know that the whole world needs your “yes” to God?  In this book, Fr. Jeremiah Shryock shares how he learned this awesome truth from his personal relationship with Mary, and how we too can learn from her how to follow Christ with all of our hearts.   “Fr. Jeremiah Shryock, CFR has written a truly beautiful book. Frankly, it is a must-read for everyone aspiring to enter more deeply into the life of holiness and Mary’s role in leading souls to a total self-offering and surrender to God. Inspired passages and uniquely contemplative insights fill the pages of this book as Fr. Jeremiah ponders the mysteries of the Rosary and Mary’s presence in the gospel accounts with a great heart of love. Fr. Jeremiah calls himself now a Marian hermit taught by Mary; clearly, he has been a very fine student and son in placing himself receptively before the profound instructions of his Virgin Mother.” —Fr. Donald Haggerty, author of St. John of the Cross, Master of Contemplation, The Contemplative Hunger, Contemplative Provocations

Fantastic book. Probably the second best book I’ve read on Mary, second only to The Reed of God by Caryll Houselander.

This book surprised me so much! I learned so much more about Mary, and the author is just simply holy. I have an opportunity in May to go to a silent retreat that he is preaching, and I can not wait! I loved learning so many facets about Mary and one thing that has stood out to me is to be slower in my prayers and really contemplate Mary and the fact that her eyes and her presence is always with me. It has all it is also given me pause in the way I say my rosary this author suggests that it's better to pray just one decade really well and go deeply into the mystery then praying the whole rosary I'm still wrestling with this.

Fr. Jeremiah Shryock is one of my favorite authors, and this is one of the best/most accessible books I've read not only on Our Lady, but in relation to the human condition. He expertly shows us how the Blessed Mother can help us navigate our fallen humanity with compassion while helping us grow spiritually in purity, freedom, peace, and confidence in God's love.

“How is Mary able to ponder these events in her heart? She can ponder them because she is listening, deeply listening with her whole being to everything occurring. Because she is deeply listening, she encounters and is able to see the presence of God in all that is happening.”

This book was so sweet & good! I love Mama Mary, but I’m also human & there are lies I believe and things I need to work through - this just helped me realize how much Our Lady loves us & more that the love she gives has no other aim than to lead us to her Son! Mama Mary, pray for us!

This book is truly amazing and insightful! Father Jeremiah shows how one can bring Mary more fully into our heart through the disposition of our heart. I especially like when he speaks of how although we may not know it Mary is always present in our lives with Jesus because she is wherever he goes. I would recommend this book to anyone!!

There's much to be learned about living life based on how Mary lived hers.
