Fairhaven Falls #3

Fireworks for My Dragon Boss

Rate this book
Her dragon is turning up the heat!

After a series of corporate mergers, Charlotte’s job is hanging by a thread. When her boss orders her to drag an overdue manuscript out of their bestselling author, she’s determined to succeed - even if it means leaving the city for the small Southern town of Fairhaven Falls.

She just didn’t expect the elusive author to be so big. And handsome. And winged.

Nakor Earlsworth refuses to give in to the common stereotypes about dragons. He lives in a glass-walled house, not a cave. He doesn’t breathe fire - at least not most of the time. And he certainly isn’t sitting on a hoard of treasure.

So why is it that when an annoying, buttoned-up, and irritatingly attractive, female shows up on his doorstep, he’s suddenly envisioning her wearing his gold - and nothing else?

A very stubborn male and an equally determined female are about to find out what happens when an immovable object meets an irresistible force. Sparks are going to fly. Literally.

Each book in the Fairhaven Falls series can be read as a standalone romance. This sweet and steamy story is intended for mature readers.

Decent quick read with relationship building and spice. I didn’t like some of the conflict or agree with the girl boss complications that were the “conflict” but to each their own.
I would rather be a hot dragons pampered pet than girl boss my way through life 😂🖤

This was a Beta read - I love an arrogant, grumpy, possessive dragon!! Here's my thoughts on Nakor. I must just love any male with wings, but dragons?? Heck, yes!! He kind of reminds me of Ruby's Dixon's dragons, but a lot more civilized. I absolutely LOVED Nakor. There's lots of humor in this book that I just loved, too. There's just so many good scenes in this book. So smart, so funny, and awesomely written. I can tell Honey loved these characters!

More reasons to read this book:
**Loved it! Humorous and fun with low angst
**Nakor is an arrogant, grumpy, spoiled, wealthy, possessive, lonely, HOT dragon!
**Charlotte is unapologetically just Charlotte.
***Did I say I love dragon books? This book & Nakor are HOT, HOT!
**Loved the setting and Nakor’s home. I'm falling in love with Fairhaven Falls.

Nakor can add me to his hoard any day! 5 stars and 3 spice emojis!

Series: Fairhaven Falls #3
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

Charlotte’s job is hanging on by a thread. Her boss has ordered her to drag an overdue manuscript out of their best selling author and she is determined to succeed and keep her job. What she doesn’t expect is for the dragon author to be so big and handsome, and hard to keep her hands off of.

Charlotte and Nakor’s story was an enjoyable forced proximity/ instant love one that I couldn’t put down. Nakor was a reclusive dragon who is used to everyone doing what he tells them too. He was grumpy and put out when Charlotte didn't and I enjoyed every minute of it. He needed someone who wasn’t wowed by his money and actually saw the real Nakor. Nakor also needed to realize that he needed to actually listen to Charlotte and what she wanted instead of just giving her what he expected her to want, which was an enjoyable, and short, ride.

Charlotte and Nakor’s story was short, sweet, and just what I was looking for. My only real complaint would be that I wish there had been an actual discussion about Nakor’s actions and why what he did was wrong. Yes we see he feels bad about it afterwards but no discussion between them about it, which would have been nice. Overall, I really enjoyed their relationship and loved the idea of a dragon writer who writes about a treasure seeking hero. I would probably read his books.

Matchmaking Flora's at it again and this time she has a grumpy dragon and the human lady sent to keep him on his deadline in her sights. To be blunt, Nakor VERY MUCH does not want anyone meddling with his writing mojo and he CERTAINLY wouldn't expect a fragile human to be the one who entices him into thinking about forever.

But it happens. Charlotte's arrival is initially unwelcome, but an untimely breakdown has Nakor spending more time with her than he expects to. In fact, Nakor barely wanted to answer the door when she knocked. Much less invite her in and feed her. Or offer to take her back into town. Or find himself thinking about her in a way that gets his blood humming.

On Charlotte's end, she's stressed out about her job, wary about meeting the reclusive dragon, and somehow determined to find a way to get him back on track despite all that. The big guy is intimidating, a little heavy handed, and she likes him anyway. Sure, she has to draw a line or two in the sand so he knows she's no pushover, but these two fit together nicely.

A wicked case of writer's block, a meddling innkeeper, a storage room full of goodies, and two people who have to figure out what they want before it's too late. *thumbs up*

So so sweet a perfect treat before bedtime read!🔥💖🌟

Fireworks for My Dragon Boss was such a wonderful sweet treat ! Charlotte works for a publishing firm and she is sent to Fairhaven Falls to help speed up the process of the local Dragon author Nakor. When she gets there she gets more than she ever bargained for. A gorgeous grumpy dragon who love expensive things and who write the best stories. She can't help but be drawn to him. Nakor, loves writing but he's been having some writers block and doesn't need some pesky human bothering him when he just wants peace and quiet. But once Ashley bursts into his life he can't bare for her to leave and his creative mind starts to go into over drive. Now all he wants is for her to stay permanently with him. Oh I want my own sweet dragon to keep me warm and love me t distraction! Honey Phillips knows how to write a story! Great characters wonderful world building and just pure fabulous storytelling! Highly recommend🌟💖🔥🔥💖🌟

WOW! Dragons are the best

I've always loved Dragons, and now I know why. This was absolutely the sweetest and steamiest monster romance by far. I could use to read a few dozen more of these.

Nakor was the perfect dragon in his arrogance and modern wealth. Even when he would fall back on old terms of "cave vs house and hoard vs bank." His aloofness when it came to writing was very entertaining as well.

At 154 pages, it isn't a very long read, but I loved it so much I couldn't put it down, so read it in one sitting. If you're on the fence about trying this, sometimes silly but definitely heavy on the romance monster series, I say go for it. You won't be disappointed. I can't wait for the book in the series as well as anything else, Ms. Phillips writes as I've enjoyed every single book.

The MMCs only personality trait was that he was rich and posh and annoying about it.
And the FMC was annoying. She had to “teach him a lesson” to be more social (even though that’s apparently not how dragons are in this world) and robot buy her gifts but instead just make her happy??? Idk. It was so fucking stupid.
That being said it was better than the last one.

Knitting. Different peen. No breakup. No cheating. No pregnancy. No kids.

If I could have DNF’d this I would have, but I couldn’t because I was reading it for my Halloween podcast episode (Whimsically Wicked: A Reading Duet). This was boring, not cozy romance burning, but just generally really boring.

Delightfully Wonderful Story !! . . .

Nakor Earlsworth is a popular writer of action books, but his latest book is way behind being completed. The publishing house sends Charlotte Hudson to visit him and encourage him to step up the pace! Nakor is set in his ways, not necessarily “grumpy”, but very stubborn about how things will be done. Charlotte is determined to loosen him up a bit and have a little relaxing fun so he can recharge himself and get back into the writing of the book. With a little help from a “friend”, Flora who wears a sequined tracksuit and dispenses hilarious advice, Charlotte knows just how to make him happy and they enjoy Fairhaven Falls together. But are they ready to fall in love, as Flora seems to think?

This book is so much fun! The characters are delightful and the interaction between Nakor and Charlotte is adorable, despite their occasional discomfort that keeps the laughter going. Is this story line promising us a HEA? Or will Charlotte simply be relieved if she can get him back to working on the book he is writing?

Charlotte works for a publishing company in new York.. Her boss has told her to go and see Nakor the author in his home town to see when he is sending his book in because he has missed his deadline.. So when she gets there they get off to a bad start but after a while he lets her in to his house and he gets her to help with research which helps him write more of his book and that's when everything changes for her the more time she spends with him

I like Nakor's characters because you can see he is sweet even if he acts grumpy a lot.. Its nice to see the sweet side of Nakor.. I really liked the strong friendship that Nakor and Damian had in this book because they both look out for each other but also treat each other like brothers which is sweet.. I liked charlotte's character but sometimes she could be a wee bit bossy..

We are not looking for depth and adventure etc here. It’s all about Over The Top (OTT), sweet instalove stories about paranormal/fantasy characters with a happy ending.. and a dash of spice. So basically fluff. They are good palate cleansers and “in between” reads for me. Especially after I read books that wring me out emotionally or when I’m not looking for heavy stuff and/or complicated world building.

There are so many books in this series that I get to decide what paranormal creature I want to read about at the time (and those I don’t as well). I will not read the books in order. I do not find it necessary to understand the storyline. I like Flora. She’s a recurring character in the series. Like a fairy godmother/matchmaker.

I think that it’s funny that I found these types of OTT romance books in the contemporary genre too unrealistic and (boring?) and yet here we have the paranormal edition and I’m gobbling them up like salmon canapés (yes it’s a thing for me).

This one made me giggle with how awkward this dragon was haha. We meet Nakor earlier in this series and I wasn't sure how to feel about him, and after seeing him with Charlotte I was definitely enamored by his quirkiness. He was the first one that actually like monster-y and different than the humans but a lot. It was more his personality probably, but as an engineer I am used to the socially awkward introverts so this just made me laugh with his antics and mannerisms.

Charlotte is such a trooper with the head spinning Nakor gives her haha. I am glad he let her go at the end though so she would clean up everything on her end and know it was meant to be. He didn't hide her away in his cave to allow for regrets. I loved how snarky and curmudgeon he was in the beginning and then she helped with his writing process and helped get through writers block and he was finally onboard the human train. I did like how Charlotte had to keep bringing him down to earth with his tastes and sticking his nose up in the air. The dates she had him deal with/presents he gave her/let her get that were the diamonds and super fancy things were hilarious and awesome. I enjoyed their banter and seeing their relationship grow. I loved what she did for him at the end, to fulfill his mating and culture, made me smile and be nervous for her all at the same time. Again amazing cameos and banter with old and new side characters, a lot will get or have gotten their love stories too.

The author does a great job weaving the different storylines together. Flora is a hoot, and seeing the ladies building this family is also fun to watch. The ladies are all so different between the different books, it makes for a great read/listen. I also loved not calling it a hoard and then trying to dress Charlotte up with all the shinies but saying she was perfect the way she was. Sooooo adores! Narration was on point again, the personalities really shone through and how different they are but how much they click and work. 4.5/5 stars from me :)

A stuffy old dragon meets determined younger human. A famous author with writer’s block who hides from the world and an editor from a failing publishing house getting him to admit he needs help. A snob horrified at fast food and a woman who drinks hot tea from bags and convenience store coffee (even if only to get a rise out of him, lol). Mix all these together and you have a laugh out loud rom com with some Otherworld elements thrown in.

Nakor was what I would envision a dragon to be - so wealthy from hoarding the best that he can’t even picture having anything but. Charlotte is the city girl that needs to push him into writing before she loses her job. Along the way, the two develop an attraction that is rather quickly acted on.

After a tactical error on his part, Charlotte, with the help of Flora, a colorful local and acknowledged matchmaker, proceeds to poke and prod at him and he eventually realizes that money is not everything.

I loved this book and laughed frequently. Romcoms just do it for me, and frankly thoughts of what he could do with that tail……. The only reason I am giving it a 4 is because of a writing annoyance. When Nakor is thinking about certain things i.e. cave, hoard, treasure, she writes afterword a human equivalent i.e. house, collection, wealth…etc. It was frankly frustrating to read. But the story was fantastic, and this will not deter me from continuing the series.

Charlotte works for a Publishing Company, and when she is sent to retrieve a manuscript from one of the authors, she ends up going toe-to-oe with Nakor. Nakor is a dragon who has holed himself up in his cave – I mean, mansion – and has basically become a recluse. When Charlotte shows up he is immediately angered by the intrusion, however, he quickly opens his doors and invites her in. Now helping him finish his manuscript in time for the deadline, the two of them begin to grow close. But what happens when the manuscript is finished?

I always love these short little novellas set in Fairhaven Falls and honestly? I adore the romances in these books. Charlotte and Nakor are absolutely adorable together. You have the sunshineXgrumpy dynamic between them that just works, especially him being a dragon with his possessiveness and control issues and she just shuts that down so fast. And I love that instead of doubling down, he turns around and asks for help on how to win her over, putting his own pride aside. The spice was nice, the plot was cute, the romance was sweet. Overall, this was adorable.

Charlotte is a book editor who has been ordered to collect an overdue manuscript from author and dragon Nakor Earlsworth. With her job on the line, she travels to Fairhaven Falls, a small town inhabited by paranormals, determined to get Nakor to give her a book. The reclusive Nakor has been suffering writer’s block. She offers to help with anything he needs. (And boy, does she!)

With Charlotte working at his side helping with, ahem, research, Nakor breaks through the block. They’re attracted to each other and have lots of sex. But can the possessive dragon give Charlotte the independence she needs?

One thing I especially liked was that Nakor wasn’t a dragon shifter, but a man-dragon with horns, wings & a tail.

Fireworks for My Dragon Boss is a quick, hot little number. As in all the other Honey Phillips’ books I’ve read, the relationship turns sexual (and quickly) before it gets emotional. It’s amazing Nakor got any writing done. Lol.

If you like your paranormal romance erotic, and you want a quick, easy read, snap this one up.

Nakor was a dragon author with writers block. Charlotte was the editor trying to save her job by helping him finish his latest book. At first he was reluctant, but soon he grew to appreciate her skills and help. That quickly grows into a realization that the reclusive dragon doesn't want to be alone any more.

There were so many fun moments in this book. Nakor and Charlotte doing research together. Their dinner date at Damian's house, the two of them enjoying the carnival and most of all their mating flight. It was a wonderful series of incredibly romantic, fun, steamy moments.

The one thing that struck me as off kilter in this book was how Charlotte got so upset when Nakor arranged for her to stay longer. She had spent the previous few chapters lamenting about how she didn't want to leave him then suddenly she gets so angry and upset??? It was a really confusing shift.

I love this series the more I read, and I can't wait to read more.

Nakor and Charlotte are so cute and sweet together! Nakor is a grumpy reclusive dragon author with golden skin, wings, and he shoots flames. He is also a bit of a snob about food, drinks, and designer labels. So cute and hot especially when he is horrified by common things. Charlotte, a representative from his publisher, works hard to humanize him and introduce him to more pedestrian pleasures, like funnel cakes at the fair, while she tries to get him back on track with his very late book. The sparks fly between them, and they share some very creative smexy moments. Nakor and Charlotte are funny together, and it was nice revisiting Fairhaven Falls through their eyes. Lots of my favorite characters from previous books made appearances. We all need a Flora in our lives. I can’t wait to see who Flora sets up next!

'She cleared her throat. “I’ve never been around a dragon before.”
He fought back the instinct to preen. He was an exceptional specimen for her first encounter.'

A sexy dragon who is an author was an angle I didn't know I needed. I loved that Nakor fought against the stereotypes of dragons.

'He was a modern dragon, and modern dragons didn’t have hoards.'

He was grouchy and despite not having the best first impression on Charlotte, I liked him from the start. I thought his grumpy personality cute. Not wanting to lose her job, Charlotte travels directly to Fairhaven Falls to try and get a late manuscript six months overdue from Nakor. She's a bit out of her element but managed to worm her way in. The scene with the tea made me smile so much because I could picture his huffiness. This was a fun, cute read. 4 stars.

Charlotte (h) leaves the big city for Fairhaven Falls, home to Others, to track down the reclusive dragon author Nakor (H) who’s behind on submitting his manuscript. With her job on the line, Charlotte isn’t about to leave the grumpy dragon alone and he caves in, agreeing to let her be his assistant. The two struggle with their attraction for one another and things heat up, only for Nakor’s possessive, controlling nature to cause dram in their relationship. Sweet dragon-human romance with plenty of heat, including some size difference and mid-air delights. Loved when the ladies went out for cupcakes, and all of Flora’s helps along the way to Nakor and Charlotte’s HEA. Minor angst but nothing lengthy or overwhelming.

I adore the town of of Fairhaven Falls. So many Others in the town the story could just keep coming. The returning characters make it that much more interesting. I liked how the main female character Charlotte was persist on getting Nakor to open his door. The fact he was a writer gave this story a fun storyline. I liked all his fanciness. From his tea to all the little gifts he tried to give Charlotte.
The character Flora keeps you guessing as to what she is up to next. The mysterious guest Ginger? Is she what has Howard all in an upset? plus the new guest coming to the inn. so many stories !!! I can not wait ! Such a fun read !.

4/5 obviously not everyone will agree

i really enjoyed the book, i’ve enjoyed all of the books in the series so far. that being said i hate when people use manipto get a point across. it really bugs me. starting a relationship through manipulation is not the best way. i get that gran wants people to be together but telling them to communicate is a much better piece of advice. doing what they did with the clothes and the food/drinks kind of felt like they were trying to change him, to make him something different, not just give him a new perspective. if they communicated and actually had discussions it would be five stars for me. but i very much hate it when characters think manipulating someone to see a side is the best option.

Love and an arrogant grumpy dragon

I loved this heartwarming feel good story. Nakor and Charlotte’s opposites attract, grumpy-sunshine, boss-employee, human-monster romance had the perfect mix of fun, humor, love, real life issues, and spice. I smiled the entire time I read this book. Nakor is a dragon and a best selling author. Charlotte is a human who works for his publishing company. Since Nakor is late delivering his manuscript and she’s afraid of being laid off, she decides to personally visit him to offer assistance. Despite being short, this novella was well written, the characters were three dimensional, and the storyline was engaging. I am looking forward to reading more in this series.

Grumpy males/Sunshine females are my favorite characters. Let me just say Nakor takes grumpy to the stratosphere! He's wonderfully cranky. Charlotte isn't exactly Sunshine but she is the perfect foil for Nakor. Nakor is a writer of action books, Charlotte works for the publishing house that publishes his books. When Nakor gets behind on his deadline Charlotte is sent to help him on his way..that's when the fireworks begin. I really enjoy these Fairhaven Falls books. This one was no exception. The story grabbed me from the first word and didn't let got till the end. I read it in 1 sitting...even reading while cooking dinner (thank God for leftovers). The main characters are wonderful and well written. But my favorite character is Flora..we all need a Flora in our lives! A totally enjoyable read. +5 stars

“Fireworks for my Dragon Boss” has an adorably disgruntled hero who doesn’t want to be attracted to the heroine and a heroine who just wanted to not get fired but finds her grumpy boss really handsome.

Nakor was too funny and contradictory when it came to what he felt for Charlotte. He’d often tell himself to do something to push her away but finds himself doing the opposite. Charlotte was patient with him not really listening to what he said but paying attention to what he did for her instead. This story gave me some good feels and I can’t wait for the next in the series.

I love this series. As the title states they are cozy stories. I love the humor, especially when Nakor corrects his version of words. ie cave for house. He is the epic dragon, wealth is everything. Even though he doesn't really need any more money.
I love all of the ways Charlotte taught him money isn't everything. She is determined and charming.
Flora does it again with her matchmaking.
Steam to the romance. Adventure throughout. And a lot of smiles while reading this outstanding book. Perfect HEA. This is a standalone book, but it does include a few previous characters.

This one was cute but not my fave for sure. Nothing terrible about it just not the best of the series.

Charlotte is a girl whose job is hanging by a thread when another company purchases the one she's working for. With her job on the line she hunts down reclusive dragon and writer Nakor to try to make him finish his outstanding manuscript and save her job.

This one was sweet and Charlotte was ok but Nakor annoyed me after a while. He's rude, brash, domineering, materialistic and doesn't listen. He throws money at problems and didn't really integrate into the town / world well. Yes, he learns to adapt a bit, but he always seems to do so with this long suffering air which is SO not cute.

Charlotte shows up at Nakor's house (cave) uninvited and insists that he allow her to help him finish his next book. It's already 6 months late, and her job depends on getting the book finished. He isn't happy about having her around, or any human for that matter. But, he also can not deny his attraction to her. Can they work together? Can she get him to pull his head out of his rear?

This is book 2 Fairhaven Falls starring Charlotte and Nakor Earlsworth. Wow wee that was hilarious from their first encounter to the end, these two are super cute and adorable together. I loved how the dragon goes about trying to win over Charlotte and she is having help to drive Nakor mad with want. I loved this crazy town and all the antics of the old woman too. I can not wait to see what happens next it this great page turner.
