I would like to thank the authors for creating such a well done world! I loved the magic in this series so and eagerly read every page. Kullen and Natisse are amazing main characters and are so wonderful to see how each acts throughout out these books. I also loved the resolution of this book a wonderful finale to amazing world. I also very happy to hear that the authors are not done with world! I can’t wait to read what comes next highly recommend this series!

Strange, how the first book with all its tropes and predictability, ended up being the best in this series.
If this book has proven anything, it's that each of the books in this series could have been half as long. The repetitions and reiterations at every turn, shoving down our throats every little thing the characters think and feel (repeat as needed), and the plot that prioritizes coolness over continuity and relevance.
That said, these books aren't bad. They're interesting enough, good enough to make me yearn for them to be better. When the scenes focus on characters interacting with each other, they're really not half bad. But when it's just action and a character reflecting by themselves forever and a day, then it just becomes a slog. A repetitive, hand-holding slog.
Prepare to have your hand crushed, because they'll leave NO room for you to make up your own opinions about what's happening.

A fast-paced and fun conclusion to the series, Golden Flames had a few twists I didn’t see coming as well as action, dragons, and a siege taking place in the background throughout. The romance aspect was not (and never is) my favorite part of the series but I get it, and it wasn’t over-done.
I continued the series after book 1, Black Talon because Kullen was an assassin that stayed in the shadows with his dragon and that’s right up my alley. For book 2, Red Claw, the world expanded and more dragons were present, but book 3, Silver Spines was a too long and was a lot of set up for the final act.
Around the 75% mark of book 2, I kind of lost interest, but continued into book 3 because I enjoyed the characters. Natisse is awesome, and her character arc was very satisfying. But again, most of book 3 dragged for me until I got to around the 75% mark of Silver Spines. In short, the I didn’t enjoy the end of Red Claw, or the first 3/4 of Silver Spines, but I’m glad I stuck with the series because Golden Flames was well done.

2.5 ⭐️

creo que el problema fui yo, no el libro. perdí la conexión qué tenia con la trama y la mayoría de los personajes. creo que fue demasiado largo y podrían haberlo acortado por lo menos 100 páginas

this is a fabulous book and series. It has everything - action, adventure, secrets, dragons, massive invading forces, surprises and a great ending. It is one of the best series I have ever read. the main complaint I have is that this series is over

Great fun series but my one thought throughout the four books was “Do these people ever rest???” I mean it was said “to be able to wield the power you needed rest…” so anyway other than that 3.5 for me. The MCs, the magic, the dragons, the crew- Jad, Sparrow, Trenta- love them all!

Could there be a more satisfying ending? I think not! Could there be a more complex tale coming to an spectacular conclusion? I think not! Each book in this series ends with my heart thumping madly, and each book begins with adrenaline racing through my veins! My poor heart had leapt with joy towards the end of the previous book and then dashed against the rocks by the most unexpected attack, an attack I never thought could be possible and yet it was. So, suitably gobsmacked, I plunged right into this book! Sinking, flailing to the surface, sinking once again in a maelstrom of action, tension and drama.

I loved how well rounded the characters are, how each is delicately shaped and offered as the full package. Some disappeared only to reappear, very timeously I might add. I had been wondering what happened to Sparrow and yay, she couldn't have found a more opportune moment to reappear! Where she ended up, who she ended up with, lit me up with joy! The various characters playing an integral part in the epic tale, these characters are something else! Something unique. Something delectable. Something to sink one's teeth into. And I did... not viciously, tenderly, savouring each one. From the Ghuklek to the Trenta to the Orken to the humans. And the incredible dragons....Each leave an indelible mark, even Assidius, who although has proven his loyalty, I still think he's a sleezeball! Although, truth be told, I was floored by the magnitude of his emotions, emotions I NEVER thought him capable of!

I'm obviously completely in love with Kullen, what's NOT to love? For all his hard, deadly outer shell, Kullen is the most gentle of souls, the depth of his emotions are so vast, he feels with every fibre of his being, he loves with the same vigour, he's a superb character. He's equally tough as he is vulnerable, he's an assassin with heart, he's just awesome! My heart broke for Kullen when he had to say goodbye to a very loved one, yet again. His guilt, his pain, his anguish I felt to my core. The revelation of the Shadow Realms truth were as astounding to me as they were to Kullen. All he thought he knew, all he'd been told, well, it wasn't what he expected! So much of what Kullen learnt was far from what he expected, the identity of the traitor, the demise of one he loved by the hand of this very traitor, and the FEELINGS Natisse evoked in him, well.... A relationship born firstly out of a grudging respect for one another evolves into something more, something solid, something positive and inspirational, something of great beauty.

Natisse is another superb character, never once giving in, never once accepting defeat, even when she thought the person she loved was dead, she faught in, she planned, she schemed. And boy are her schemes radical! But they work, mostly, which just goes to show that Uncle Ronan WAS right, she's smart and a natural leader. Although , some of her schemes had me groaning in despair by the sheer audacity of them, clenching my jaw waiting for the outcome. And I loved how the bond between her and Golgoth solidifies, they become an entwined unit, giving and taking whatever the other needs. A true and beautiful bond. She fights like she loves, with all her might, nothing and no one will deter her from what she feels she needs to do to protect them all. Even Uncle Ronan, who I've dubbed "the cameleon", he's able to change his colours to suit his environment, he keeps his secrets so deeply buried, even I could not anticipate he knew who Natisse was. When THAT twist was exposed, geez, my eyeballs almost popped out of my head!

Geesh, these authors have taken me to new heights and deep lows that catch me off guard every time! Such is this ingenious collaboration, I'm lapping it all up like a puppy would much needed water after a run. What a path I was led on! A twisty, windy path, strewn with obstacles I gladly leapt over, corners I couldn't see round, exposing bombshell after bombshell and revelations that, had my jaw not been attached, it would have landed squarely on my feet! One amongst many was the identity of the Red Claw, a definite OMG moment, a definite whiplash moment.... Blow after blow was delivered by the authors, until I felt I must surely be black and blue, reeling from the intensity of the action. And so many heart warming scenes where my heart leapt with joy, a fitting conclusion to this series with a promise of more in this very dynamic world!

I'm not going to write reviews for the other books, because I'm lazy. I'm going to just stick to one review for the entire series here. Hopefully that's alright.

I loved this series.

Kullen was great. Natisse was fantastic. Their dragons and the bond they shared was equally as interesting and fun to read as the human half of their characters were.

I had a few issues with the books, but I enjoyed them enough that I'm keeping this novel at 5 stars just because of overall enjoyment.

SPOILERS AHEAD

The betrayal at the beginning of this book was not explained well enough. I felt like we needed a little more characterization or explanation for it to make sense. Especially considering how it ended, it seemed a little random and under-explained. If anyone wants to discuss, please comment. I would love to discuss this book, but nobody seems to be talking about it online.

Natisse super annoyed me in the earlier books because she was constantly talking about Ronan's secrets, despite her hypocritically keeping her own secrets at the same time. I understood it at first, but after constantly whining about it for multiple books, I was just annoyed. Other than that though, I really loved her character.

Kullen was really good. My only issue with him was his "conveniently" forgetting to talk to the Emperor about questions he had that would have been super helpful in the later books. They were obviously skipped over just to have twists and revelations in the final books that would have made way more sense to have earlier. And I never really understood why he hated basically everyone around the Emperor, and they hated him back. Why didn't they get along, when they were all fanatically loyal to the Emperor? It just didn't make sense.

The magic system and dragons were fantastic, but they also led to my biggest issues with these books.

There were definite issues and inconsistencies in those systems. Kullen stated numerous times that rest was required to use their powers. But...not really, apparently. Both Kullen and Natisse said they were exhausted and on the edge...for like DAYS. I think Kullen slept like 2 hours over the course of a full week, yet he continued to use his powers liberally, despite his throwaway remarks of being careful.
They really should have given the characters room to rest just to make their earlier explanations make some sense.
The biggest plothole was with Natisse near the end of this book. Heavy spoilers for this next paragraph. Specifically, numerous times throughout the other books, they stated that the human half lost their powers when the dragons were summoned to their realms. But at the end of the final novel, Natisse was able to control flames and use her powers as normal even though Golgoth was flying around in their realm. Same for Kullen. Though his powers are now apparently immortality? He just enters the Shadow Realm when he's about to die, and he's all good afterwards I guess.

Despite the issues above, this series had amazing action, great characters, and a fun storyline. I'm definitely excited at the prospect of reading more in this world.

Of the four books in this series, Golden Flames ended up being the one I liked the least. But, let's start with the good.

The final battle was epic and had some unexpected twists and turns that kept our heroes on their toes. I liked that the authors didn't just stick with the threat of a deep-sea goddess being turned on Dimvein. The goddess actually appears and the situation gets really dire, which made for lots of interesting stuff for both Kullen and Natisse to do. These two characters really show how much they've grown over the course of the series and I connected well with them.

I also liked that the prince does not get his deus ex machina moment. He goes out with a whimper and it suited the situation brilliantly. He was a difficult character and I hated his arc, but his ending was fitting, so I'll take that.

I really enjoyed the very slowest of slow burn romances that only properly comes together at the very end of this novel. And I definitely like how both Natisse and Kullen behaved throughout when it came to their feelings for each other. They were eminently believable based on their backstories and the situation in which they met.

Unfortunately, there were loads of small inconsistencies with what had been established previously in the series, and that threw me off time and time again with this volume. Many things weren't tied off or were utterly forgotten in the aftermath of the battle, which irritated me. Lastly, Natisse's epilogue just didn't work for me. First, it was too long and all part of the continuation of the preceding chapters even if it was tying off ends. I had half a mind to skip it entirely, but I decided to just push through and finish for the sake of finishing, but the whole throne room sequence felt too unbelievable for me. Dissenters being marched out without any recourse made Natisse into the worst type of despot, which didn't fit her character at all. Then she madedecree after decree without easing her people into the changes with "wham-bam-thank-you-mam" disregard for anything except what she wanted, and that kinda felt weird too. And let's not get into the rabbit the seneschal "magically" pulled out of his proverbial top hat to find a successor to the emperor. Urgh, no. Didn't work at all for me.

Anyhoo. I suppose in the balance of things, taking into account what I liked and disliked, that the series overall was good and the worldbuilding and magic system were interesting, and that I loved the two main characters, this disappointing ending gets 3,5 stars from me.

I finally got round to finishing this explosive series, and damn Andy Peloquin and Jaime Castle have hit it out of the ball park with this cracking conclusion to one of the best series I've had the pleasure of reading over the last couple of years.

Golden Flames is the fourth and final book in the Dragonblood Assassins series, co-written by two authors on top of their game, bringing their two minds together to create a beautiful dark world for us fantasy fans to drown ourselves with big ass dragons, blood thirsty assassin's and one hell of an adventure with our favourite characters.

Golden Flames is packed to hilt with big enthralling battles, lots of stabby action, and magic on display. The scene descriptions, the fighting, the intrigue, mystery, and twist and turns are astonishingly sublime.

What I absolutely love about this series is the humorous scenes throughout giving you good feel moments as the characters are put through the ringer when all the odds are against them. For two authors to get together and create something of this magnitude and amazing is truly incredible.

If the rumours are true, my absolute favourite band of misfits is getting their own series. The Tatterwolves were an absolutely fantastic addition to this series, and I look forward to seeing how they came about and all their background stories. So we will have more to read co-written by these two Grimlords.

War has come to Dimvein with devastating effect. Our hero and Emperorers knife Kullen has been badly injured. Betrayed and left for dead finds himself in the shadow realm hanging on by a thread, hoping he can get back and bring bloody vengeance on the one he thought as family.

Natisse is devastated thinking that Kullen has been taken and killed. Anger and fire are literally bursting to get out of her, and with the help of her dragon Golgoth, she aims that wrath at those who have brought murder, dark magic, and destruction across the city.

Will Dimvein and its people survive the onslaught and betrayal by the invaders and those thought to be friends. Will our heroes, the Crimson Fang, and Tatterwolves pull off the impossible and save their beloved city? Check it out, and you won't regret it.

It was a fantastic ending to an amazing series. If you haven't checked out any of Andy Peloquin and Jaime Castle books yet, you should remedy that and add to your tbr pile. I very highly recommended..😁🏹🔥🗡🐲🐉

OMG! This was such a great series. This last one, book 4 was such an awesome finale. It's brilliantly written with intriguing characters and twists & turns that will knock your socks off. So many questions were answered in this one and I was blown away. It also features 2 of my all time favorite dragons Umbress & Galgorph. Never a dull moment so the pages will keep turning. I listened to the series on audible and the narration was fantastic.
Now that Natise has bonded with her dragon and she has learned a lot about her powers, she will put them to good use. Together with Cullen they will have to find a way to stop the coming invasion and try to deal with the trader they realized was in their midst. With the emperor murdered they will have to be clever about this battle if they want Dimvain to survive the looming threat. They decide to try and bargain with Pantagoyia by offering her a dragon blood vile with the hopes of convincing her to pull back her forces. While they are there trying to bargain with her they also learn that a band of priestesses are trying to awaken their evil gigantic sea goddess. According to Mammy Tess, that is something they DON'T want to happen. So now they have an invasion, a murderous traitor and a gigantic sea goddess to deal with and also Cullen thinks Prince Jalen has lost his marbles. So much to deal with and they will need all the help they can get. Since the Orken fallout they can't count on them for help and wouldn't trust them anyway. When Cullen was stabbed in an alley by the trader & left for dead, he was found and saved by a new friend who would turn out to be an unexpected hero.
If you haven't started this series yet then you should. It has become one of my all time favorites. You will fall in love with the characters and their dragons.

Wow! What a conclusion to this series! With the enemies now laying siege to the city, everything is in an uproar! Kullen and Natisse must figure out how to save the city, while keeping themselves and their dragons safe. There was a betrayal so massive, but for a long while Kullen is the only one who knows. Barely making it, saved by Sparrow and those she is caring for. (Forgive me, I listened to the book and don't know the spelling!) Meanwhile, Natisse believes Kullen to be dead by Hudarians(?) and is grieving as well as trying to prepare for battle. The fate of Dimvein is in their hands.
What an absolutely epic book! It is almost non-stop action and battles. There is betrayal and surprises all over! It was a different look into Natisse and Kullen as well. They are both "battle" hardened and not easily trusting but have managed to find happiness in each other even during this tumultuous time. And Natisse has finally learned to let go of her mistrust of Uncle Ronan as well. She has definitely grown so much as a character in the last couple books.
There are many surprise allies as well. They go to great lengths to secure the help they need. And in doing so, find out the real reason one of the enemies has moved against them. And as for surprises - the ending was a shock!! I was not prepared to hear who is an heir to the throne! ANd I was also surprised that a certain character was one of the good guys, even though there was hint he wasn't - it still surprised me. And I think my favorite thing about this entire series has to be all the creative new swear words I learned throughout all the books!

honored to read this early

My first Epic Fantasy read was on a summer vacation as a middle school kid with a newly borrowed copy of Dragonlance Chronicles Vol. 1. The world felt so rich, with fantastic creatures and heroes I had to know more about. Dragons too? I was in love.

Fast forward to midlife and the desire to rekindle that love for epic fantasy with dragons and memorable heroes. I’ve enjoyed some good ones, but none stand out in the ways Dragonblood Assassin have.

I won’t spoil anything here because if you read the finale of book three, I doubt you’ll need me to convince you to see what happens in the finale.

The story switches between two pov’s, Kullen, the Emperor’s Black Talon, a title given to his highest ranked defender, and Natisse, a “street-rat” of sorts who’s more deadly than beautiful, and that’s saying something of both . Her lashsword and clever heroics made for a strong action element.

Cullen was my favorite, with the powers of the shadow realm and his dragon bond to fight political opponents with cloak and dagger. The hunt for the empire’s greatest threat Carrie’s a great deal of my interest through four books, and I’m glad to say it was thrilling to the end!

The dragon bonding, magic brewing, nation on the brink, mysterious and ever-increasing world expansion as viewed through incredible characters… it all culminated in one of my favorite series to date!

I anticipated that this would be a really good book, but the last half lost my interest. It reached a point where I had to push myself to finish it because many decisions and choices regarding plot progression and character relationships felt arbitrary. It did not seem as though things meshed well towards the end. It felt like the authors were trying to wrap up the story and tie up loose ends regarding open-ended story points, and I did not appreciate that.

Despite my frustrations, I think the story is still intriguing. The relationship between Kullen and Natisse is genuinely great. I love both characters individually, and I believe this story allows them to shine. I appreciate the bond they have with their dragons, particularly the connection between Golgoth and Shahitz'ai, which I found to be an amazing touch—an actual dragon bond that I think surpasses that of Sgaeyl and Tairn.

Umbris as the keeper of the twilight was also a cool concept, and the mini-arc involving the shadow dragons was great. Both characters were highlighted well, showcasing their strengths and weaknesses. However, I did not agree with the way the series ended. I was very frustrated with the conclusion, as it felt arbitrary, and having an entire series conclude in that manner was upsetting.

That said, I still believe this is a good series to read. It has its merits and is quite average, falling in the middle of the road. It excels in some areas while being merely okay in others.

Riveting

I disliked how long it took me to find this awesome series. I did not expect to be taken on such an adventure with the Dragonblood Assassin series.

The storytelling and the interwoven little pieces of the story come so beautifully together in world changing plot twists that leave you wanting more. These scene descriptions, the fighting, the intrigue, and mystery, are astonishingly good.

I would recommend this series tenfold to anyone who is looking for mystery, adventure, slow slow burn, enemies to lovers, dragons, and a fantasy rich plot throughout all four books.

I rate this 5 stars because:

It kept my interest throughout, and nothing felt lacking or slow or unnecessary

The plot is rich and engaging

The writing style was good, easy to read, yet advanced in quality. It features two POV's

I couldn't put the books down. I kept wanting to know more

The characters are relatable enough in their sense of justice, their strength of character, their tenacity to fight for those they love, their empathy, and all-round badassery.

The readability is quite good, with quite a bit of well described fighting scenes, strategic cliffhangers, well structured and planned chapters.

I loved it. Will one day reread

This book is a battle, just one … with a ton of moving parts and people. The opening paragraph brings us right back to where we left off, and that’s good, but hold onto your hat, because we’ll not get a chance to breath for hundreds of pages.

The clock acts weirdly; it seems as if all of the action should be taking days. Yet, it’s as if there’s a time dilation while certain parts of the battle cause the clock hands to tick slower, others where there’s not enough time to cram the action into the little time allotted. It helps that the chapters of Kullen and Natisse are told side-by-side.

It’s been a year since I first read the stories of these two, but by the end of the first page, I was back up to speed, whipping through the streets with my friends; jumping onto dragons, melding into the shadows and being outraged at a young man who has lost his internal compass and slipped a few gears. We get to discover a new race of people with ingenious creativity, swish our swords around, experience the excitement of the lashblade in action once more, and share moments of sheer joy and unbelievable sadness. I shed real tears - it’s been a while since a book made me do that.

More than anything else though … dragons! Loved these books so much.

In retrospect Dimvein has been well named what with the emperor killed by his own grandson, the city left with no proper successor, the city itself under siege by an immense enemy armada with impeccable magical and other attack means, Kullen having been mortally wounded and Natisse convinced he is dead.
The chances of the city surviving was rather dim. Very much so.
Golden Flames is quite the study in whatever can go wrong against the good guys.
But it does not stop there. There are the dragons in quite diminished numbers, creatures living unknowingly below ground level under the city and enemy numbers growing all the time.
Yes, good prospects for success against the enemy is listening by the hour.
This final book in the series by authors Jaime Castle and Andy Peloquin is also a heartening story of spirit by human as well as dragons and other creatures that put shame to doubters and bringing about unexpected wins in what seems to be hopeless skirmishes.
All in all, this entire series has been one of the best I have read in a long time.
It is also a tome difficult to put down for any spurious reason and had me reading till late into the night.
Well done.
Enjoy.

I found this to be a satisfying conclusion.

however, I felt that some of the reveals and surprises might have been too abrupt and unsupported
For example, Androse had been working lockstep with the emperor all along. Why was the emperor so angry with Cullen for freeing the Crimson Fang? Or is it that the Emperor's counselor was keeping him in the dark, and doing these secret dealings for the sake of the empire? Also, the emperor's grandson, I don't feel there was explanation enough about the dreams (as they did seem to mislead him). If I listen to these books again, I just doubt I will be able to find the signs that he was the Red Claw either.

The one other thing I wish they touched on, was the origin of the dragons. every one of the shadow dragons save one is killed, is there any hope for new ones to replace them?

Ohhhh man what an explosive beginning! I can alread tell ya, that this book is gonna be great!!! I actually got the first 3 books though Audible and loved listening to the husband and team as Michael Kramer and Kate Reading voiced Kullan and Natisse with pitch perfect performances... but, book4's already out and I wasn't willing to wait another minute to find out what happens next! I'll definitely be listening to the book again as soon as Audible releases it!
So Kullan with his dragon Umbris and Natisse and her dragon Golgoth both fight to fulfill the king's last order! Which intern will save the Empire at the same time.
So get this Book! As Andy Peloquin and Jamie Castle once again join up to create a dazzling finale to this wonderful series!

Andy and Jaime do it again with book 4 of the Dragonblood Assassin series Golden Flames. They have create a storyline that you just cant put down. The book picks up where book 3 finished and its battles all the way through, with the Blood Clan pirates, Hudarian Hordemen and the Vandil Priestesses all determined to wipe out the Empire and take over.
Natisse believes that Kullen is dead and its a real tear jerker, you cant help the tears from falling. But she is determined to carry out his wishes and fights to defend Dimvein, but Kullen isnt dead and they find each other again. Plus some unexpected allies.
But the ending is spectacular and total unexpected. You dont see it coming at all.

I have loved this series and am sad that its come to an end.

Another 5 star read from Andy and Jamie!
The final (for now?) chapter of the Dragonblood Assassin series was EPIC! Super fast paced, amazing battle scenes, very inventive giant monster/God and an all around great time.
Kullen and Natisse, along with Golgoth and Umbress, really had to step up their game to save Dimvein. I love so many parts of the story, but I don't want to spoil the plot for others.
Suffice it to say...those who should get theirs, DO and the ending is exactly the way it should be, even with the twist I didn't see coming!
I loved every page of this book and I'm so happy there is another series coming from these two authors who really write some amazing dark fantasy together.

I think I'm done with this series. While I loved the first one, and enjoyed the next two, things are just dragging on with each new installment. The characters can only carry a series so long, and I'm just not interested in the stale plot. The first book had a great plot with a civil uprising of the downtrodden, and a ruling class, that though flawed, wanted the best (for the most part) for the citizens. But we've left that plot and found other enemies that I really don't care about. If the book was half the length, I might be able to stick with the series, but these books are too long without a more interesting and exciting plot.

It's an absolutely EPIC conclusion to this amazing series!! I laughed, i cried. I bit all my nails down and sat on the edge of my seat all throughout this series, especially this last book. This book was over 500 pages of battles and chaos. Every single littler loose end got tied up, and the ending was so surprising and satisfying. The swearing was so creative that i have dozens of highlights to prove it 😅 The battles were many and descriptive, just how i like my books. I literally cannot say enough how fantastic this series is. Seriously. SOOOO GOOD. i will genuinely miss these characters 😭

Golden Flames is a great ending to the DragonBlood Assassin series. Being the fourth book in the series does not mean the story just droned on. It was action filled from page one, picking up exactly from the ending of book three, Silver Spines. There is never a dull moment from start to finish. Natisse, Kullen and their friends face seemingly insurmountable odds, but manage to be victorious through endless struggles.

I love this series and it has become one of my favorite. It will keep you on your toes!

What a finale!
I'm speechless and so happy about how this series ended.

So many twists and turns until the end, plus all questions answered - really great writing by the authors.

The characters, the world building, the magic and the fights - all this makes this series another favorite of mine for this year.
It also makes me want to read other books by Jaime Castle😊

Favorite parts in Book 4 were the ones with the Pantagorissa. I can't get enough of this character🤩

If you like audiobooks, this might be for you as well. The narrators are amazing and breathe life into characters and world alike.

Very High Quality & Highly Addictive Fantasy w/Dragons!

So far this year, these are my ‘books of the year’, and I’ve read about 40 books, so far.

The whole enterprise is astoundingly good. Every facet of the fantasy, plot, world building et al. Is truly superb. The story telling is outstanding, truly outstanding! Dragon lovers - you’ll love this!

The co-lab between the 2 authors shines through & it all benefits from this. A lone writer would take years to achieve the same results & I look forward to the next series. Buy this, now!

Amazing

Wow! What an ending! I love the way Andy builds up a world that is totally different from ours but totally believable at the same time. Here we have Natisse and Kullen fighting against odds so great that they can hardly believe it. Deceit and treachery are all around. Who can be trusted? The ending is unbelievably well written and thought out. I’m sure that most readers will never see it coming! I bow to the masters of storytelling- Andy and Jaime!

In this masterful conclusion of the Dragonblood Assassin series, war rages throughout Dimvein and beyond.
Both Natisse and Kullen have to give everything to save the city, the empire, and those they love.
I can honestly say that the twists and reveals that came out in this book were amazing.
There were a number of things the readers had hints at, but so many things that you never see coming.
And on top of that, for a book that is dominated by an all out assault on the city by an overwhelming force, one so big that all of the empires dragons may not be enough, the character interactions, the moments of emotional poignancy, are what really make this novel shine.
To me, the way that everything wraps up is pretty close to perfect. We get so much closure, while still setting the stage for the next series, which the authors say will be called The Tatterwolves.
