For any anybody in the Logistics field, the case studies in this book puts all principles of supply chain management into animation. It's better to read, research, or take a course on fundamentals to SCM before reading this as the book is mostly case study than it is theory. Though it's slightly out of date by a decade, the cases can be applied to issues of today.

Had to read/study it for a job interview. It is so well written and paced that passing from one topic to another was as comprehensible and comfortable as it could be, considering the density of the topics tackled. The case studies (the book has lots of them) give the reader real industry insight on every aspect of the supply chain theory (strong on manufacturing and SC integration technologies) when confronted to real problems faced by companies on a daily basis. Key if you want fast, real and a quick but deep dive insight on supply chain reality.

Did not give it 5 stars due to the fact that the couple of married authors kept making advertising for their own supply chain optimization software company (LogicTools), for which David stars as CEO and Edith acts as Vice President of Operations. Anyway, it complements with reality what would be expected to be an entirely theoretical class imparted by an MIT Professor, so there's that.
