Agree to play fake fiance for a work retreat? Sure. With your new boss who also happens to be your ex from high school? Why not. I took a wrong turn on my first day of work into the men’s locker room and BAM. There he is. Jenson Sharpe may be half-naked, damp, and delicious, but that doesn’t give him the right to be rude. Even if he is the CEO of the company I just started working for. The instant, familiar chemistry is there. He asks me to fake an engagement to impress the owner of the company. And he’s going to pay me to do it. I ignore everything in me screaming NO, and end up screaming YES on a company retreat. As the pretend kisses become all too real, our old flame flickers back to life. Now I'm caught between the past and the present. Fake and real.. This was meant to be just an act. A stepping stone. I tell myself he’s changed into a cold, hard CEO focused on profits. That will make it easy to walk away when this is over. Right?
Mel needs a job to help pay the stack of bills that have accumulated from her aunt, so she takes a job at Dupont Analytics. On her first day, she meets her new boss-none other than her high school sweetheart Jenson Sharpe. He's vying to take over the company when his boss retires but needs to show him he can settle down and is the right man for the job. Who better feign being a fiancé than the woman who broke his heart a decade ago.
This is the best of two of my favorite tropes-second chance romance & hot billionaire! The story is pretty predictable & was a quick (less than 1 day read), which I love about Emma Blake's books!
Sweet and Steamy! Loved Melanie (Mel) and Jenson as a couple. They had believable history and present day chemistry. Their struggles in their personal and professional lives really lent to the overall satisfaction of this storyline. I like how the author wrote characters that acted like adults and not over-the-top drama queens. Even the protagonist was believable and provided just the right amount of tension. I’m definitely recommending this book for your reading pleasure. PEACE.

My first ever Emma book and it definitely won’t be my last!!! Jensen and Mel found their way back together after a decade apart because sometimes life happens!! It was a beautiful journey with some bumps and drama along the way!!
I received an ARC of this book and am giving my honest review
Emma Blake's newest book centers around Jenson and Mel, who were once were childhood sweethearts who fell out of touch due to circumstances only one is privy too. Finding each other again has brought up many emotions, but working together is a necessity for their own personal reasons.
I really enjoyed reading this story. Romance, drama and a happy ending. Everything I personally enjoy in a story. The lack of communication between characters often left me so frustrated with the two, but it also makes for some of the best steamy and/or heartfelt moments in return.
If you're a fan of books on rekindling love then I highly recommend giving this book a try.

I read this on my Kindle app from Kindle Unlimited. It was a good way to spend a day waiting for a family member in the hospital. Please note I said good not great. It’s a formulaic romance novel. Nothing exciting or unexpected.
The book is short on details. It tells the story of Jensen and Melanie quickly without delving into the story specifics. It moves along at a fast clip. Meet. Arrange fake engagement. Go on retreat. Fall for each other, have sex, break up, get back together, get your HEA.
If you need a palate cleanser or a book that will hold just enough of your interest then this book is for you.
This was a fantastic read. We are met with Jensen and Mel. They had a love we all wish for as kids. Unfortunately it never went further.
We see Mel walk back into Jensen's life at a strange meeting, but worth reading! She didn't know he heads the company she got a job at. After a quick round of shock, she is corralled into helping play his fake fiance to finally win over the company he has worked so hard for.
Mel needs the money in the worse way, but never says why. Jensen tries to act like the reason doesn't matter. She was never about money, but things change. He has no idea the burden Mel carries without admitting it to anyone else.
These two couldn't have been better picked for each other. The way Emma writes makes you wish you had someone who knows every bit of you, from the awkward childhood to everything in between. I was blown away of the steady connection you get through the entire story of them two.
One of things i loved, was there was no bad betrayal, or drama. It was pressure and outside circumstances. They are. both great people, but got a little buried under everything adult life is throwing at them.
If you want a book that reads like butter from character to character, THIS is is. This is SO it!!!
Jensen and Melanie were childhood playmates who grew into high school sweethearts that everyone thought would be together forever. Then out of the blue Melanie calls it off via voicemail and disappears into the night. Jensen is devastated, but goes on with his life and becomes a different person with a shielded heart. When they run into each other years later, the chemistry is still there, but Jensen won't allow himself to trust Melanie and she won't allow herself to trust the man he has changed into.
This story has a lot of ups and downs, a lot of comedy and drama, and a LOT of chemistry. These two were meant to be together, but life got in the way. Can they make it through this time around? Can they see past what they want to what they can possibly have instead?
I really like this story and could not put it down once I started it. I had it finished in less than 24 hours and I am still absorbing the feelings it prompted me to have. It makes you think about life choices and how they impact not just yourself, but those around you as well. A truly great read that was really well written. I highly recommend this one as a to be read.

Droite?
A second chance to find happiness! This is about Melanie and Jenson. Melanie is starting her new employment with Dupont Analytics but doesn’t realize the boss is her ex! Of course, she has always been humbled and never cared about money, but now that her aunt needs her more than anything, she must do what she must do and give up her dream of being an artist and joining the workforce. The history between these two was when they were teenagers, but Melanie left without saying goodbye or letting him know the urgency of her aunt’s health. The story starts with a proposition of her becoming a fake fiancé to Jenson so that the owner of Dupont would see him as a man ready to settle down and would consider transferring the company to him and not his stepson. She takes on the proposal as he offers her half a million, and she can use that money to pay up some of her aunt’s bills. There are some ups and downs, some catching on to them, and one sleaze ball also trying to gain the company.

The Boss's Fake Fiancé by Emma Blake This amazing book got me right from the start!
Melanie and Jensen's story is great, it's a feel good/meant to be/soulmate/ second chance romance!!
They dated 12 years ago in high school, but after graduation she left, saying it wasnt going to work - but without an actual explanation... Jensen was planning on spending forever with her, so he completely devastated.
Now they're both working at the same company. He's the CEO and wants to take over the company, but his boss thinks he needs more stability in his life. Jensen asks Mel to fake an engagement to impress the owner of the company. He even offers to pay Mel to do it.
This book was such a feel-good read! Plenty of spice, with a great storyline!
I am addicted to Emma Blake books. She has the heat but she also has the story line which she follows through with and as usual this was another fantastic story by her. Jenson is the CEO of the company that Melanie just got a new job at. Jenson and Mel were high school sweethearts but they also grew up together living not far apart. Mel broke up with Jenson right after graduation and moved away with no explanation. Now after many years they are reunited at work where Jenson suggests a fake fiancé arrangement with Mel.
As usual with any of the Emma Blake books I read I could not put it down. You can tell she really cares about her stories and characters. Jenson and Melanie were very real characters.

Too Real to be Fake Emma Blake’s tale of two young lovers separated by serious circumstances and reunited by fate after twelve years is emotional, steamy, and heartwarming. Jenson needs a fake fiancé to be given control of the company he loves, and Melanie needs money to help with her aunt’s medical bills. Their time together pretending to be engaged begins to heal their broken relationship. However, there are complications that arise, along with each one doubting the sincerity of the other, waiting for the whole situation to fall apart. I don’t believe in giving spoilers, so you’ll just have to read it to find out what happens! It is a sweet and enjoyable novel that I recommend. I read this book in only a matter of hours because of how light it was. It reminded me again of all the first times when you get flutters in your belly.
Without giving it away and ruining the story it's a high school romance that ends abruptly and is all but forgotten as time goes on. It's more of a second chance romance as opposed to enemies to lovers.
I enjoyed this book although it was typical in the way of having a fake fiance would probably stir feelings and may end up actually liking the person with possibly forming a real/ish relationship.
It's a HEA with second chance romance. I would have given it more stars but it was just too predictable in some moments.
Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. An angsty second chance romance after being away from each other for 12 years yet their feelings and connection had always remained. There was a good build up of emotions, feelings of betrayal, steam, and falling in love again that I enjoyed but it was disappointing that the actual proposal and wedding happened off page and was a reflection told to the reader. Would have preferred being part of their journey to HEA as it would have been more satisfying.

What a great story following Jensen and Mel and getting a second chance. Although Jensen hasn't seen Meg in years, his feeling for her kidney has disappeared and he still loves her. A lovely story about second chances and not admitting you love someone, but love creeps where it can't and can't hold you back. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what the author comes up with next. This is highly recommended!

Jenson and Mel were made for each other. Starting out as friends, to high school lovers, and finally to a run-in that went in a direction totally unexpected. Don't ever underestimate the power of high school love!
And then the lodge.....I absolutely loved that part of the book! They were so great together. I also expected, and don't ask me why, but expected Mel to help out there with Zach situation. So loved the way the author twisted that one!
It was great to see them finally get together, proving that High School sweethearts can work!
Jenson and Mel are soulmates who broke up right after high school. Many years later they are reunited and he offers her a proposition to help him and earn extra money. There is a lot of history between them and they fight their attraction. Jenson is so cute as the grumpy CEO who can't help himself but fall in love with Mel all over again. Mel fights her feelings so she won't get hurt until they realize they have to be together. I highly recommend this to all romance readers.

Jenson and Mel we best friend since they were little and finally in high school, he asked her out and after that they were inseparable. Then Mel leaves town without any explanation. Now 10 years later she is starting a new job and who is her boss well you guessed it Jenson. I love this author and her writing style. She always has a wonderful storyline that will keep you wanting more. Mel and Jenson’s story is no different. I loved both main characters and the chemistry they share is smoking. Jenson is a wonderful book bf. Job well done Emma.

Mel goes to find a job to pay off bills that she accumulated while taking care of her ailing aunt. When she goes in on the first day, her boss is someone that she knows well: childhood friend Jensen. He's trying to make a name for himself right now and has plans to take over when his boss retires, but he also knows he needs to look like a family man in order for his boss to accept him. Mel broke Jensen's heart years ago, so she owes him the favor of pretending to be his fiancé. Of course, soon things aren't fake anymore.
I’m a simp for cliches, but what I expected and what I got are two different things. This, One that Got Away, story is to die for. There’s growth and love and, as someone who’s with their highschool sweetheart, it doesn’t miss. Love ain’t easy and highschool love can take a toll, but when it’s worth it; it IS worth it. This story’s HEA was both satisfying and expected, yet somehow the author made me think, OMG THEYRE NOT GONNA BE TOGETHER! Amazzzzzing.
This is a cute fake fiancé romance. When Jenson sees Melanie again after twelve years he sees an opportunity to improve his chances to take over the business he worked years to help build. Melanie agreed to a fake engagement after Jenson offered her a large sum of money that she needed to pay medical debt for her aunt. But fake turns very real fast.

This was a feel good second chance romance novel with a little bit of a twist. The characters grew up together and circumstances pulled them apart but also brought them back together. It is one of those “if it is meant to be it will be” kind of romances. There were some Alpha vibes with regards to Jenson and Mel was more of the sweet self sacrificing heroine. It was a good read with some drama. I enjoyed reading it and would definitely recommend it.
I love their story! The storyline is about high school sweethearts that. Went their separate ways before college. The reason for their break up is so heartbreaking! I never thought that aunt Jodie was the reason. I just hope that they told each other their inner monologue at some point.

What can I say about Emma Blakes' Boss's Fake Engagement?...... High-school Sweethearts Jenson and Melanie, reunited after so many years, only to be hit with a Fake Engagement proposal. Beautifully written story by Emma, not too much drama (which I very much welcomed, we have enough of that in life these days), this was really a nice refreshing romance story that I fully recommend everyone to read. Go chase that Happy Ever After ❤️
Oh I highly recommend this book. Ms. Blake is a wonderful Author. I own all of her books. This book fits goes under that label too. There is a hardbutt. But not really. A girls past story. Brought tears. Steamy parts. Yup. A scandal. Very interesting. I just love this book. You won't be able to put it down
