In a world shrouded in mystery and supernatural law, wolf-shifter Ragna's eighteenth birthday sends shockwaves through the realm. Every unmated male believes she is their destined companion—a contradiction to the very essence of their beliefs.
Forced to flee from relentless suitors and vengeful she-wolves, Ragna is thrust into the unknown, sparking a desperate quest to unearth the truth behind the Moon Goddess's disappearance.
Hardened by the harsh realities of leadership, Lycan King Zorian has dedicated his life to ensuring the welfare of his people.
But when the elusive Ragna continues to slip through his soldiers' grasp, he takes drastic measures. His capture of the she-wolf ignites a fierce internal struggle, as his lycan spirit instinctively fights to shield her, not ensnare her.
As they journey through a landscape rife with danger and uncertainty, their mission transcends their personal conflicts. They're not just seeking to mend their own fractured souls, they're battling to save a deity—and their entire kingdom.
In this thrilling saga, the line between love and duty blurs, and the path to salvation is littered with darkness. Yet, within the shadows, Ragna and Zorian must find a way to heal, love, and ultimately secure the fate of their world. Buy your copy of this captivating read now!
I did not intend to publish. I went on Inkitt to write for exposure therapy. As a childhood assault survivor, I ended up carrying a lot of trauma within me, and it built up over time.
Since my POTS and hEDS flared a handful of years ago, and I needed a spinal patch, my depression worsened a hundredfold. I wrote for the first time a year and a half ago and found relief there. Readers came flooding in, became family and encouraged me to publish.
It was shocking but deeply welcomed.
That's how I got here. I'm an accidental author. Since losing my job, I'm hoping that publishing will eventually pay my rent, buy me food and pay my medical bills because I have not only fallen in love with storytelling, it's become a source of healing for me.
I have eight other books coming and two works in progress now that I'm finally publishing. It's never too late to join my reader, shifter family and me on the road to recovery. All are welcome; it's a safe place.
I could not put this book down! It was such a great story and Ragna is such a fierce character. The characters are amazing and the story has a nice flow to it. It keeps you enthralled and you will love every minute of it!
I inhaled this book!!! this is a DARK & spicy wolf shifter romance fantasy, the first book of the Healing Fate series! You guys know how much I love wolf shifters! 🐺🔥 This is one of the darkest shifter romances I’ve read and perfect for fans of dark romance wanting fantasy and shifter lore! Do check the triggers before since there is SA but it’s an important emotional and healing aspect for the MC.
The most crazy situation happens on the night that Ragna finally is able to shift and get her wolf… all unmated males suddenly think she is their mate! She has no choice but having to run for her life for years living in the wild, until the powerful and controlling Lycan King himself comes for her 👀🐺 problem is.. he is also unmated, can he resist her and do what he must to protect the kingdom?
This book is fast paced and gripping from the very beginning! And it has the best mix of tropes (I’ll list them below)! One of my favorite things though in the story is the personality of the wolves and their interactions with their humans. Spine and Zorian had me laughing and it makes it so much more fun that we have the insight of what they are thinking!
Tropes included: ✨ alphas males🐺🔥 ✨forced proximity ✨captive/captor ✨wolf shifters ✨fated mates ✨healing from trauma ✨dub-con / non-con ✨hate-to-love
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy for review
This was SUCH a strong indie debut and I can’t wait to read more from Asha! From the beginning, the premise was very unique and engaging and I still haven’t read anything quite like it. Anyone who loves shifter (werewolf) romances and the fated mates trope needs to read this!
On wolf-shifter Ragna’s 18th birthday, something goes wrong when the moon goddess goes missing and all unmated males start claiming her as their mate, disrupting the natural order of things. She’s banished from her home and starts a journey to find the missing goddess, but is hunted along the way - including by the Lycan King, Zorian, who seeks to capture the wolf-shifter who continues to evade all his soldiers.
I loved how Ragna was so kind and even funny throughout her journey despite the traumatic events she experiences; you can’t help but fall in love with her gentle and peaceful nature, and feel proud of the growth she experiences.
This story is very heavy and explicit with both non-con and consensual scenes, and deals with serious topics including sexual assault and violence. What made it so special to me was knowing the author herself is a survivor and wrote this as exposure therapy. She’s hoping this will get into the hands of others in need of healing; spread the word!
(Of note: I read this through the lens of someone who has not experienced SA)
Ultimately, I’m going to rate this as a reader experiencing the story. And, when it all boils down, this is presented as a “romance” between a woman and her on-page rapist. I never forgot what he did and, even though the fmc forgave him, I never could.
There are themes of forgiveness throughout the book but they felt like justification for the assailant and not the victim. Someone says something along the lines of “he’s not a monster, he’s just very injured”. There are a couple conversations that were basically “boys will be boys” type of explanations and much of the story is about Zorian’s (the rapist) healing journey. Meanwhile, the victim Ragna finds her strength and self-worth by being dickmatized. Sigh.
Finally, I want to say that I’m aware the author wrote this story as a form of therapy and the characters are an allegory for her pain and trauma. This is the main reason I struggled with how I would rate the book. I really admire what it took to write what she did and I hope there was healing in the process.
THE MISTAKE AND THE LYCAN KING is a book that took me by surprise and that I thorougly enjoyed. I've read a lot of shifter romance by now, but I feel like this book had a very original take on the shifter lore and on the concept of the mating bond. It's a lot more "raw" and less romanticized than it is in other books, so I would recommend paying special attention to the author's note if sexual assault is among your trigger warnings.
The story follows Ragna, a she-wolf who, upon her first transformation, accidentally sets off the mating bond for every unmated male who comes in contact with her. The moment of her first transformation was absolutely heartbreaking. I felt all of Ragna's fear and loneliness, and the animalistic reactions of the males wanting to get to her all at costs really had me on edge. This poor girl goes through some very horrible things in the 5 years she's on the run (again, please check your triggers for sexual assault!)
But it wasn't all rain in this book! Ragna's journey is one of healing, and she comes out of it such a strong and fierce woman. I adored her bond with her wolf--which, in general, was something I loved also about her love interest Zorian's chapters. In this book shifters have a mind link with their wolves, and the dialogues were absolutely hilarious. It was almost like having the reader inside the book setting the characters straight at times, absolutely brilliant!
Zorian himself was a character that really surprised me. At first he may come across as gruff and unfriendly in the way he treats Ragna, but the more we get to know him the more his behaviors are revealed as defense mechanisms, and by the end of the book he goes through a huge character development!
I absolutely loved the romance between Zorian and Ragna. Again, their relationship was a breath a fresh air from the usual mating bond lore. Zorian and Ragna both fight the mating bond, and there was no immediate adoration to be found here. I loved the true enemies to lovers energy between them, and it was so rewarding to see the evolution of their relationship throughout.
Another thing I loved is that this book was SPICY! I wouldn't say the way they were described were more than 3 peppers on my personal spice scale, but there was plenty of spice throughout. Some scenes were hard to read for obvious reasons, but the more the relationship between Ragna and Zorian evolved, the more I was anticipating these moments!
Overall, this was an incredible shifter romance. It's original, and it will definitely appeal to fans of enemies to lovers and captor/captive dynamics. I cannot wait to read the next books in this series, which will follow other protagonists!
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book made me cry really hard and it pierced my heart!
This is also the most difficult review I’ve written because the emotions I experienced are very raw. But how this book came into light also should be shared. I’m sharing after checking with the author and it could be a trigger for some. Please take care of yourself and please don’t read further if you have triggers around s***al ass**lt.
This is Asha’s first book written as exposure therapy following s***al ass**lts she went through. I don’t want to go into detail but the author note explains how and why the book came into light. When I requested a copy, I knew what I was getting into but I never knew it was going to be this raw and heartbreaking. I usually avoid heavy topics but I wanted to give this story a chance and I’m so grateful I did!
The story revolves around Ragna a wolf shifter, brave, kind and giving. She’s one of the most pure characters I’ve met in books. Her life turns dark and dangerous when she becomes the mate of all unmated males on the first day she shifts. She was forced to abandon her family and friends and run for her life escaping males who are trying to mark her. Zorian, the Lycan king is aggravated that the societal dynamics were changed with Ragna’s influence and starts a quest to find her and k*ll her. The Moon Goddess who’s the only one who can address the mating bonds was kidnapped by the villain Eysteinn. Zorian gets to understand Ragna better and they together begin a quest to discover the goddess and to restore the mating dynamics. Will they succeed?
I salute you Asha for being so brave! The emotions were bleeding through the pages and I applaud you for your strength in sharing your story in a creative way with us. The characters, setting, and plot were amazing for a debut! I would have preferred more world building but I still found it to be inspiring!
Please read Asha’s stories if you are ok with the trigger warnings. Give her creativity more wings. Thank you, Asha for the copy. Words really fail me… ❤️
This was a book that literally took you through a range of emotions. This story follows Ragna a she wolf who was ready to celebrate her 18th birthday only to find every unmated male wolf trying to claim her as their mate. The end result was her being exiled from her pack; left to travel on her own unprotected to seek answers. Ragna endures so much during her time alone I just wanted to wrap my arms around her and give her a hug.
Lycan King Zorian has been trying to track down Ragna for years because of the threat she was to him and his kingdom. Zorian was just as damaged as Ragna and he treated her so poorly at first that Ragna was ready to give up until an unexpected visit from the Sun God came to help things in perspective.
Zorian has been entrusted to protect Ragna while on her mission but he has caused so much damage that e doesn't even know how to make amends. Luckily he has his Lycan named Spine to keep him in line.
Parts of this book was hard to read but it was a true testament of one's inner power, strength and determination to push through towards the light at the end of the tunnel. Ragna and her wolf Trail were fighters and took care of one another. Thankfully Trail and Spine had the second we to realize that their humans were too damaged to see what was right in front of them.
It was a perilous journey fraught with distrust, anger, rage, yearning, passion, tension and angst. Zorian didn't realize how much he needed Ragna until lost her. These two had a multitude of demons to exorcise but they were determined to make things right so that alk unmated supernatural were able to find their true mate and not pursue Ragna.
I was so happy to see not only Ragna but her best friends find their HEA after all of what Ragna endured for them. If you want a book that will pull on each emotion and have you in knots more times than not then look no further. I promise the pain and heartache is worth the reward in the end.
The Mistake and the Lycan King is a dark shifter romance following Ragna, a she-wolf who upon her first shift accidentally triggers the mating bond for all unmated males around her. She is then forced to flee her pack and face life as a lone wolf while trying to find a way to fix her predicament. If you like stories rich with mythology, with unique shifter lore, gods and an enemies to lovers romance arc, then this is definitely a book I would recommend, but make sure to check your triggers (especially for SA.)
This story took me on a rollercoaster of emotion. There are definitely dark moments, especially at the start of the book, that were sometimes hard for me to read. It wasn't easy to witness the things Ragna goes through as a lone wolf, and the rawness of the "animalistic" impulses of the shifters that were represented. However, I really appreciated Ragna's journey throughout. Her troubles make her become more independent and resourceful, and she is a stronger woman at the end of the book because of everything she survives.
My favorite part of the book, however, was the romance! The dynamic with Zurian is a true enemies to lovers. There is genuine hate between them at the beginning, made all the more difficult by the draw of the mating bond. This unique dynamic, the drama, and the complex tangle of emotions made for a very compelling romance, and I loved seeing the evolution of their spicy scenes alongside the evolution of their feelings.
If you're looking for an original shifter romance, this is definitely a book to check out! I cannot wait to dive into the next chapter of this series.
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own.
5 stars for the premise honestly it was so creative I’ve never read anything with that premise.
1 star for her getting with her literal rapist. I think a content warning for sexual assault should include if it is by the main love interest or not cause reading about sexual assault is one thing but reading about it being excused and justified and forgiven is a whole other.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
If the stunning cover doesn't captivate you, Nyr's world more certainly will. The book is the start of the Healing Fate series and I'm already in need of more! If you are a fan of Shifter romances, enemies to lovers, and spice, this book needs to be on your TBR!
Why do their wolf halves act like 4 year olds? Why is she constantly stuttering? The FMC is too pathetic for me to care about and the MMC is annoying asf.
DNF at 24% I am appalled by all of the raving reviews, our lead is extremely whiney and quite frankly talks and acts like she’s 13 in her wattpad era waiting to be kidnapped by 1 direction. The story itself is intriguing but the way the author set it up has much to be desired, we prolong the less important and more gruesome details (like her getting r-worded in the first 30 pages) and then totally skipped past an extremely important section? The whole “moon goddess is missing, we are sky gods, fix it for us” thing felt cheap and quite frankly really rushed. I was willing to get past the annoying FMC and her annoying wolf with weird catch phrases up until the mmc r-worded her. That is a complete no go for me. I cannot understand how ANYONE was able to get past that, this book feels like a whiplash horror dream and I could not do it anymore.
I have had my Kindle for about 3 months now. So far this story, in its entirety, has been one of the most wonderful, sexy, interesting, frustrating, loving, and laughable that I have ever read on my KINDLE to date.
I have read 63 books so far, some good some bad. This book captivated my attention from the beginning to the end. I cannot tell you how wonderful the book made me feel and I felt every emotion that every character felt which is not a normal thing for me.
I am a US Army veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan so when I say it is hard to show my feelings I mean exactly that. I felt it easier to show my feelings with this book and its characters.
Thank you for writing this, I actually appreciate every word and every chapter.
The Mistake and the Lycan King was an enjoyable read. The banter between Ragna with Trail and Zorian with Spine was hilarious. There was definitely lots of angst and tension which made for a page turner. The friendship and protectiveness with Ragna and her girls made me smile. What a great friend group
Knowing the background of the author and what brought on her writing is a true inspiration
Nothing is held back in this book so PLEASE read the trigger warnings for this book. (At the time of this review, the Content Warnings are only in the books so I will paste them at the end of this review for you.)
I read Asha's books out of order. I read "The Coveted and the Dragon Knight" first and absolutely loved the uniqueness, the rawness, and the inspiring healing journey. So when I learned that the next book was a continuation from her first book, "The Mistake and the Lycan King," I had to read it before starting "The Packless and the Fae Prince." Let me say, this did not disappoint! It is definitely way more raw and graphic in terms of emotions, hurting, abuse, and healing. But I loved it.
Ragna has been kicked out of her pack after the Moon Goddess had been kidnapped, all the unmated males think she is their Fated Mate, and all the females are trying to kill her. The other gods come to Ragna and task her with finding the Moon Goddess since she was the last one the goddess was probably trying to match a mate to. Because of this, Ragna spends the next 5 years on the run, trying to find the goddess, but continuously gets attacked by rouge unmated males. (This is where most of the SA happens.)
She eventually meets Zorian, the Lycan King, who also happens to be unmated. And when I say "meet" I mean he captures her. Not wanting to kill her but also not wanting his pack to continuously suffer, he isn't sure what to do. Another god arrives and announcing that Zorian is now tasked with helping Ragna with finding the goddess. It is through this journey that we see healing and forgiveness as they grow to trust each other. I don't want to spoil it too much but if you can't handle the triggers/contents, that's completely understandable and okay!
The worldbuilding is beautiful and not too much. As I mentioned before, the story is very raw and emotional, but beautiful and insightful. I fell in love with the characters very easily, especially with their shifting forms, Spine and Trail. The remarks each one makes made me chuckle. I would also love a story on Rudesind and Rakel! But I also have a habit of falling for the side characters lol.
Quote that stood out to me: "You know how you’re afraid of the dark when it’s just you, but when you have a friend who’s afraid of the dark, you’re not afraid because it’s overridden by protectiveness? That’s how. Don’t get me wrong. I’m shaken, but right now, I can be your rock. If we hadn’t gotten that second chance… I’m determined to live, Ragna, and you should be too."

From the Author: This book "was originally exposure therapy for sexual assault I survived. Due to popular demand, I've decided to publish it. More information is provided in the Author's Notes about why this was written. Please note that includes spoilers."
I'm still reeling. This is a great standalone and I fell head first into this world. The emotions I felt throughout this whole book were fierce. I was sucked in the entire time, and it was so well written.
Just a reminder as I do care about mental health. Please make sure you check all trigger warnings. There are heavy triggers that should be considered.
"The Mistake and the Lycan King" by Asha Nyr delves into a world of mystery, supernatural law, and the complexities of healing. While the book offers a Happily Ever After (HEA), the journey to reach that point is marked by significant challenges, particularly in the form of sensitive subject matters.
I wish I had read the author's note before diving in as it shed light on the reasons why those sensitive subject matters were present and that the purpose behind the book was to serve as exposure therapy for those that have recovered from instances represented throughout.
The narrative follows Ragna, a wolf-shifter, and Lycan King Zorian, on a quest to unravel the truth behind the Moon Goddess's disappearance. The story explores their personal struggles, the blurred line between love and duty, and the battle to save their world.
The difficulty in the subject matter could be unsettling for certain readers, and I wish I had read the author's note before delving into the story. It emphasizes the importance of understanding the themes and context before diving into the book. While I appreciate the author's commitment to addressing these challenging topics and providing a narrative that supports healing, I acknowledge that it may not be suitable for all audiences.
In conclusion, "The Mistake and the Lycan King" is a book that fills a unique niche and addresses important themes. For those considering reading it, I recommend familiarizing yourself with the underlying stories and themes to ensure it aligns with your preferences and comfort level. My gratitude goes out to the author for creating a work that aids in the healing process for those who resonate with its purpose.
OMG. I am so happy I was able to get to read this author. Her story, her pain, her backgrounds shaped this book. In an amazing way. She was able to take all those, and make something beautiful. Her writing is immaculate, and brings you to a pleasurable reading experience. I loved the characters and their growth in the book. You get a bit of fantasy, mythological creatures, love story, spice, and so much more!! Please go read this series/duo logy and thank me later!
I see the author's motivations but the execution ended up falling short of expectations. The writing style got grating quickly, after the repeated use of exclamation points and a lack of distinctive, compelling voice amongst the characters (Zorian started as a one-dimensional ball of rage, while the heroine, Ragna was an innocent flower ripped straight out of a 00's shoujo, incapable of harboring any negative emotions in a sea of vindictive women who all are written to antagonize her).
What I found most disconcerting was the author's commitment to 'flattening' the women characters in this book that weren't the heroine, portraying them as jealous, bordering maniacal ladies that faced the worst of the heroine's wrath meanwhile there were running free who not only were spared sympathy but ultimately won happy endings. I understand that the world can be cruel and you want to raise the image of your main characters, but if you need to flood the narrative with one-note personalities in order to achieve that goal, you won't have much of a story to draw people into at all. The story, at its core, is deluged with caricatures and comically unrealistic developments. Which is unfortunate considering the sensitive themes it broached --- not every story requires depth, but if you're going to have a flat cast on top of dark, provocative content the least you'd expect is writing that shows care. The fantasy world didn't even have that much thought put into it as there were multiple points where it felt like the two main characters were just floating in a world occupied by just the two of them, outside factors springing into motion only when the author desired to amp up drama (of course, this meant there were never any real stakes that'd trigger panic for either of them).
Overall, this read as an underdeveloped fantasy that could've used a lot more editing.
The Mistake And The Lycan King was a steamy, fast -paced, thrilling read. The Lycan King, Zorian, is a responsible and capable person who works hard for the welfare of his subjects. Ragna is a kind-hearted and lovely wolf shifter, but on her 18th birthday, she was struck by an awful faith resulting from the disappearance of the Moon Goddess. Every unmated wolves are tied to her, and it is an absolute nightmare. Only finding the Moon Goddess, everyone can escape this tragic faith. King Zorian, on the other hand, not knowing the entire truth, plans to hunt down and kill Ragna, the source of his subjects' misery. But when they get to know each other it's not the intent of killing that filled Zorian's mind but the urge to keep her close and protect her with his life, to claim her as his own grew day by day. Zorian did questionable things to Ragna in the beginning, succumbing to his fury and instincts . Moving forward, I find him as a strong, kind, and thoughtful person . Deep down, he is a fragile man hardened by the harsh realities of his leadership and responsibility, who never got a single time to think about himself . Ragna was the light he needed. He could be vulnerable with her and cry in her arms. Ragna went through a lot of unbelievable nightmares, but she is strong, kind, and loving. Their love for each other is passionate and sizzling. I absolutely adore Trail and Spine. I always loved their interaction and how they converse with their human counterparts. I also have to mention supporting characters who were all great. I m so glad everybody found their fated mates and got a HEA.
• The Mistake and the Lycan King • by @authorashanyr •
I don’t know when or how I came across this book, but it caught my interest again when I was going through my TBR • I’m surprised that this book is not as talked about as it should be • That being said, there are two things I think readers should be aware of when reading this story…
1. This book was written as a form of therapy to heal personal traumas experienced the by the author. It may not be for everyone. Check your TW’s.
2. If this is not for you, that is ok. I, however, loved this story and found it beautiful.
• The biggest thing I walked away from after reading this book was learning to not give your trauma power over you, but having power over your trauma • This story broke my heart and put every tiny piece back together again • All of these lessons and emotions are occurring simultaneously in a creative fantasy world filled with shifters, lycans, and fae • As I said, it’s truly a unique story •
I’m more of a vampire gal. This was my first Werewolf book. That being said…
I. Could. Not. Have. Picked. A. Better. First. Werewolf. Book.
The lore was good. The adventure was emotional and intense. The ending was awesome. (It was nice to read a story where I felt like everything was answered, well explained and I had no other questions.) Ragna is a strongg female lead that uses a mixture of wits and compassion to help her survive Zorian, the Lycan king. Zorian, a brute whom, despite doing some terrible things, manages to remain sympathetic in the eyes of the reader due to his inner dialogue and desire to be better. On their journey, the author does a brilliant job exploring how both masculine and feminine energies react to the same situation in a way that is believable and intriguing. While their story tends to be very serious, the addition of their wolves, Trail and Spine, lifts the story with much appreciated lightheartedness. You will love this book if you love puns. But to me, the meat of the story goes back to the reasons the author wrote it. There are trigger warnings for a reason. The author does a brilliant job conveying emotion and what it’s like being trapped in patterns and emotional states. This fantasy that takes place in a supernatural world of shifters does a brilliant job of exploring what it means to be human, to make mistakes, to hurt and be hurt, but also to love, forgive, and heal. Those moments are raw, easy to understand, but never once made me feel removed from Ragna’s journey. There were chapters where I laughed, where I held in tears, and a few chapters where I couldn’t hold in tears. The best part about the story though, is that the author provides context. By the end of the story, every character meant something different to me. I liked some of the choices, I questioned other choices, but then the author leaves the last five pages to tell you what the characters meant to her. Suddenly, these characters that already felt pretty three-dimensional, suddenly take on a fourth dimension that ‘wow’s you in a whole different way. Even though this book is not for the faint of heart, I recommend everyone to read it.
This book had a lot of really good elements, I liked the connections between the gods and the character development of Ragna throughout the entire book. I enjoyed the banter between the characters and their shifter forms. I did find it hard in the beginning to like Ragna because I'm so used to reading novels with such strong and confident female MCs that having one who is more unsure of herself was a little bit difficult to adjust to. The stuttering in the dialogue was a bit over used, in my opinion, I feel as if there are other ways of showing a character's nerves. But overall, I enjoyed the book, it got my interest rather quickly and I did end up liking King Zorian, in the end even with his major red flags in the beginning.
I’ll start this review off with a big fat ‘Oh my gosh, yes!’. This book was absolutely amazing. There are so, so, so, soooo supper many great aspects to it that I don’t even know where to start, especially without spoiling anything.
Let’s talk about Ragna first. She is such an amazing character, who goes through an entire scale of emotions throughout the book. And a whole lot of trauma. A world full of trauma that she grows through and that makes her that much stronger. Her self-finding is super incredible and I loved every part of her journey of finally finding herself worthy. There is so much depth to her story.
Zorian!!! Holy moly, we’ve got ourself a big badass alpha lycan that’s possessive, led by natural instinct that he fights against, hardened by war and has only hard edges about him. Or so it seems. His battle with himself and his inner-lycan Spike is addictive. I loved everything about him, if only not the way he treated Ragna the very first time they met, and well up to the point he pulled his head out of his ass. I loved his inner dialogue and thought process. Such an incredibly written character. His growth is magnificent and so subtly brought upon, yet he is a completely different person by the end of the book.
Spike and Trail are both hilarious. Now they are Ragna and Zorian’s wolf and lycan, their second half, but completely different consciousness. Their playful nature balanced the rougher and darker parts of the plot. And darkness it had plenty. The story focuses on Ragna’s traumatic experiences and her self-healing. While her presence heals Zorian’s heart. It is absolutely adorable and wholesome.
The plot was perfect, the world-building was perfect, the characters were perfect. There’s nothing more to say about The Mistake and the Lycan King. Or well, there probably is. A whole lot more, but all positively spoilery and I’m not going there. You better find out for yourself as to what I’m talking about!
This book was very real and well written. From the very beginning of the book, you can fall in love with the characters. Ragna was my favorite character because of her character development throughout the story. The emotions I felt reading this was very intense, the plot and the characters just blew me away. I can’t wait to read more from you. I’ve learned that writing can heal wounds and the author did an amazing job spreading her wings to create a masterpiece. I highly recommend this book!
To start off, Asha is an assault survivor who writes to heal 🖤 I cannot think of a more beautiful way to channel trauma and healing. The characters were written to signify specific moments in the healing journey and was done so perfectly.
This book was absolutely fantastic. I read it in less than 24 hours only stopping for much needed sleep to pick it right back up and finish it today.
I couldn’t get enough, and cannot recommend it enough. The fact that this is Asha’s first book is shocking. I would have thought I was reading work from a seasoned author. I was captivated from the start and didn’t want to put it down for any reason.
I felt every emotion imaginable while reading this and could not be more grateful to receive this book in the first place.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Please check the trigger warnings (included in the 2nd slide with the synopsis)
*I received this book from the author for free in exchange for an honest review* Thank you, Asha, for this book, this opportunity, and writing this in the first place, not only for your healing, but for all of us who needed healing as well 🖤
I had the privilege of reading "The Mistake and the Lycan King" by Asha Nyr, and it's clear that this book served as a powerful means for the author to process and confront her own trauma and abuse. Right from the start, I was utterly captivated and completely immersed in the story.
This book took me on an intense emotional rollercoaster. At times, I felt so strongly about certain characters that I wished I could jump right into the story to confront them. King Zorian, in particular, was a character I initially struggled to like, considering his past actions. However, as the narrative unfolded, I found myself warming up to him in a surprising way.
Ragna, our main female character, began as a meek and frightened individual but evolved into a strong, resilient she-wolf who could hold her own. It's remarkable that this is Asha Nyr's debut novel. Her storytelling prowess is truly impressive.
I feel obligated to mention that "The Mistake and the Lycan King" contains some sensitive content and triggers. I recommend checking them out before delving into this gripping and emotionally charged book.
