Communion with God by Neale Donald Walsch

The Conversations with God series are some of my favorite books. They form the backbone of my current spiritual outlook, and I find myself continually referencing them whenever I feel lost. Very helpful. That being said, this book is one that I have tried to begin a number of times and failed to get through it. I kept getting lost in the language, not understanding. This time though, I couldn’t put it down. This book proves that sometimes the timing on a book is what makes it truly moving to you. I recommend this series to anyone, but I also preface that “mine is not a better way, it is just another way.”

As an eclectic spiritual philosopher, I found this book intriguing. With all the questions I'd ever posed to God myself, I found the answers within this book. Whether you agree with the answers presented or not, they are answers. Is it divinely inspired? That is for you to decide. I enjoyed it. I found myself having to reread a number of passages to understand what was being said not because I am ignorant but because the concepts were beyond my current standing/faith/belief. Opening my mind to options made it easier to read the story and gain something from it. This book offers a different perspective than the Conversations series. If you are someone who already has a deep connection with God, this is the book for you.

Walsch has a great schtick, and I'm interested in his (God's? :) ) point of view, no matter what its source. After a while, all of the books end up harping the same tune, beautiful as it is, and things get a little repetitive. The message is so uplifting and hopeful, but I like to just stick with CWG 1, and leave it at that. Nevertheless, this book has more of the worthy same to offer, for anyone wanting more. Always taken with a healthy grain of Maybe, or What If.

I think the whole point of the endless Conversations with God spinoffs is that we could all be having such conversations if we listened. I think we might hear different things, depending on who we are. After a few reads of Walsch, why not go have your own talk with your highest self?

this just might be my absolute fav of the CWG series OR perhaps it was the perfect companion to have for where I have been (past) and where I am (now) at this point in my life where I have complete blank canvas to live the life I was meant always to live....a fulfilling and thriving one.
There's a message that stood out like a blinking light so bright that I have written it on notes around the house as kind reminders to myself that I am never alone and that God's (and the Universe) got my back like a backpack.
The message: "There is something here I do not know, the knowing of which could change everything."

Here is an illusion for you: That this author communes with God. I suffered through the 6 hours it took to complete the unabridged audio book version. It was absolute poppycock; six hours of this guy mentally masturbating over his opinion what God stands for and who God really is...people actually pay for this stuff?

Absolutely breathtaking. The second last in the 'Conversations With God' series and my favourite so far. The wisdom within this relatively small book is astounding. All of it resonated true for me and I'd imagine the same for you. So blessed to have come across this series of books. 6 stars if it were possible.

A gentle and eye-opening read, that first explains 10 ways we've misunderstood the meaning of God and life. And then an equally gentle and practical way to liberate ourselves from these illusions.

This was equipped with humor and power, it's not just a self-help or a spiritual work, it's a way of living with more clarity and freedom. :)

Neale Donald Walsch's Conversations With God series has been a most illuminating "discussion" that has forever tweaked my previous image of what "God" is/was. Neale's ability to couch basic esoteric tenants into a narrative with the Almighty has struck a chord even among those who turn a condescending nose at anything slightly resembling New Age. But that's what it is, steeped in A Course In Miracles, Ram Dass & Alan Watt, moral relativity, Celestine prophecies and Oprah Book Club written all over it. These attributes, and others, are presented as aspects of God while the ancient model of God as presented in Scripture and misrepresented for millenia by "the faithful" is seen as corrupted by human nature. If this prospect isn't offensive to you you might find much spiritual food to nibble on in Walsch's work. That said, Communion With God is not the one to begin with and may not even be 100% essential to CWG as a whole but if you read and enjoy the original CWG trilogy you'll probably get something from Communion as well. I just didn't get nearly as much as I did with the 1st and 3rd from the trilogy and Friendship With God (which is as essential as the first three, IMO). If any of this piques your interest I would highly recommend Conversations With God Books 1-3 and Friendship With God. Hold off on the Communion for now.

Most awesome book I have ever read - mind opening, spiritually enlightening. I want to buy a case of it to share out with all those I love and care about - not kidding!

A book this size I usually read in 3 days if I like it. I had to stop, ponder, absorb, re-read, share. Even now I'm prepared to re-read the last half over again. I don't usually bend pages in my books, however this book is an exception. I'm now going to use a highlighter as well!! And probably re-read it again and again. This one's MINE. Get you own copy RIGHT NOW.

It should be titled "What you already know but forgot" because with each revelation you feel a resonance from within that these things just feel right, honest and true. It would bring peace on Earth and harmony within and between all communities. You would finally know Who You Are and What Your Purpose Is. Not Kidding.

I came back to NDW on vacation at a friend's house. It had been perhaps 15 years since I last looked at his writing. It's amazing to come back to this approach to relationship with the divine after growing older and developing my own philosophy and relationship with spirit. While I like the stream-of-consciousness writing in the original Conversations, the framework in this book is more useful for actually taking this approach into my life.

This book makes so much sense and is so empowering. It places the human condition into clear perspective and provides common sense tools that can be used to achieve new states of being and greater consciousness. When I read Communion with God, I experienced a sense of remembering. The book reminded me of things I have always known but had clearly forgotten. It was like coming home.

I have read quite a few books from NDW. I was sceptical at first about reading this book as I thought it would be just like some of his other ones. There is some information from the previous CWG titles, but Communion with God does deliver some fresh info and I think we get to see a more aggressive side of Neal's writing.

It is not a Christian book, it is about God, but seen from another perspectiva. The text deals with topics of faith from a perspectiva, which in my opinion is only Asian. It made me reflect on the personal perception of God, he taught me some things, but the alusions he says about Christianity are not entirely correct.

Conversations with God, Neale has a conversation with God as a partner who is always there to help if we want it. Communion with God he tries to keep this relationship. But gets into social issues he feels strongly about, and subtly lays judgement from God. Which was not present in Conversations with God.

I love these metaphysical type books that talk about our basic beliefs in the world and how our beliefs affect how we live. Really cool book. I tried to read it a few years ago but didn't understand it, stopped reading at page 14. This time I flew through it, guess I had evolved. :)

The explanation on the 10 Illusions of Man is astounding. Sometimes the book is difficult to follow, because he flip-flops between 3rd person and 1st(confusing for the reader), but it still earns 5 stars for being such a wake-up call.

I picked this up assuming it was by a Christian author, but was not. For that reason I decided to put it down and not continue. As a believer, I know there is no formula to communing with God, you need only Jesus :)
