Clones Rachel and Theo now live hundreds of miles apart. They keep in touch, but things just aren't the same. When Rachel discovers that evil scientist Elijah is still working in secret for a section of the government and about to murder Daniel, she sets out to rescue the little boy, but her plans backfire with disastrous consequences. Across the Atlantic, Theo becomes suspicious when Rachel misses their weekly internet chat. He discovers a report online saying she's killed herself and travels to Scotland to find her, certain that she has been kidnapped. A clue leads him to Elijah's mysterious clinic, where the sinister Aphrodite Experiment is underway. But what is Elijah really planning? Why does he need to track Rachel down so badly? And will Rachel and Theo be able to pay the ultimate ransom that he demands?
Hey there! Welcome to my Goodreads page where you can keep up with all my stories - both the ones that are already published and the works in progress!!
I write mostly teen thrillers - plus some teen romance, books for younger children and four adult psychological thrillers.
I'm really excited right now because of...
Boy, Missing, my £1 book for World Book Day and Truth or Dare, my new teen thriller. (UK)
Theo never grew up accepting his dad was dead, however, when he discovers that he is alive he is resolved to discover him. His quests land him upon lost and forlorn Rachel who is consistently in the shadow of her dead sister. Nonetheless, when the two of them get assaulted by RAGE at the school disco, the two of them find their pasts are more associated than they suspected.
Theo and Rachel have migrated to different sides of the world, advised to stop contact. In any case, they decided to get together consistently in a visiting room. In any case, when Rachel doesn't appear multi-week Theo sets out on a mission to discover her and their pasts cause issues down the road for them indeed.
Similarly, with both Sophie McKenzie book I have perused, I generally recall the start of the book clearly. Straight into drawing in me with occasions, the beginnings simply stick to me regardless of whether the remainder of the book doesn't follow after accordingly.
This continuation is revealing more insider facts which I was hoping to be pulled out of the pack. Sophie realizes how to make all the difference for the activity, and I am so happy. I didn't scrutinize any courses that were taken and were kept enthused all through the remainder of the book. I was anxious about the possibility that the continuation would free the amazements and commitment the first gave yet rather I was kept engaged all through.
I was interested in the fight between the for and against organizations in the primary book and cherished the extension of work in the second and I think this is the reason I adored both of these books.
An amazing book! Couldn't put down and it is very predictable. This book is a total must read. I would definitely recommend this book as it is is full of suspense and mystery Also it has the story from a different point of view from another person. I enjoyed this book and hopefully you do too! READ IT !! Definitely a must read
Taking a blast from my earlier teenage years with these two Sophie McKenzie books. Whilst I am at home, I had a flick through Blood Ransom to remind me of my previous love for Sophie McKenzie books. image

Theo never grew up believing his father was dead, but when he finds out that he is alive he is determined to find him. His searches land him upon lost and lonely Rachel who is always in the shadow of her dead sister. However, when they both get attacked by RAGE at the school disco, they both discover their pasts are more connected than they thought.
Theo and Rachel have been relocated to other sides of the world, told to cease contact. However, determined they meet up every week on a chat room. But when Rachel does not show up one week Theo embarks on a quest to find her and their pasts come back to haunt them once again.
As with every Sophie McKenzie book I have read, I always remember the beginning of the book very vividly. Straight into engaging me with events, the beginnings just stick in my mind even if the rest of the book does not follow suit.
With this sequel is unveils more secrets which I was expecting to be pulled out of the bag. Sophie knows how to keep the action going, and I am so glad. I did not question any routes that were taken, and was kept enthused throughout the rest of the book. I was afraid that the sequel would loose the surprises and engagement the first provided but instead I was kept entertained throughout.
I loved the topic decided for these books, I always do and I was not disappointed. I love the way that authors shape the way the evolve cloning and McKenzie was no different. I was intrigued by the battle between the for and against companies in the first book and loved the expansion of work in the second and I think this is why I loved both of these books.
I really liked the characters in these books too, and loved that they were pretty consistent throughout the two books. There were deaths, but not unnecessary death. Ones that felt right and fuelled hatred or love for a character. I do like both Rachel and Theo, although felt the romantic inclination was a little clichéd. However, I do loved that they were put on the backburner when action was required rather than it being consistently being thrusted in my face.
Sophie McKenzie, these books have the same great qualities as your ‘Girl, Missing’ series, keeping me engaged throughout and always a pleasure to go back and read. And as for the topic, I adore it!
Question: how many times can you mention that Milo looks like Theo in a double page spread?
Answer: too many.
Also Theo always says 'Man,' as an exclamation in the narration. Rachel always says "oh my god." Man, it's kind of annoying, I get that the author's trying to develop their different narrative voices, but it could be done a lot more subtly instead of shoving a particular phrase in every other paragraph. Oh my god, I just did it. (I did that on purpose ;) )
The novel was well paced. It was also predictable and weird. And I didn't care for the romance. I did at first, but then they both annoyed me, worrying over whether the other one liked them back. I mean, seriously. That's the least of your problems right now.
Overall rating: meh. Not bad considering what else is out there.
AMAZING it was really good but it freaked me out a bit (was rachels tank wierd or what?) and omg how could a man be so mean??? and i liked how it was split into three parts for his three little projects. milo appeared a it suddenly though (wasnt it kinda inevitable it was a trap rachel you idiot?)and it was kinda not very believable (i know its fictional but it can be real inside my head - no im not mad,, dont worry). Sometimes the characters dont really think, But i loved the book anyway.
I really didn't like this book, I've read the first and fairly enjoyed it, but I just didn't connect with the characters and I felt I was only reading it because I had too. Disappointing
Being the second book of the sequel it was a bit of a carry on about what their lives had become after being re-positioned on the world with a new identity after all the events that happened in the last book. Nevertheless, of course there was even more drama and action following Rachels 'suicide' in the sea. And not only is another clone of Elijahs discovered but an experiment that Rachel had only briefly known about unrolls into complete science madness; leading to an unexpected dicovery of a new baby sister of Rachels which is more like a twin to her.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a brilliant sequel to the first book Blood Ties. It was gripping and had lots of plot twists especially before the end of the book. The way the book was written ( from the perspectives of the main characters Theo and Rachel) was clever as it allowed the reader to find out how each of the characters were feeling throughout the book. Overall I highly recommend reading this book and the sequel.
A great adventurous, thrilling, scientific read. A great sequel to a great book. A journey of a strong bold girl trying to help but failing to get rid of her past and then being trapped in her past ties. Theo trying hard to help his secret girl friend traveling half the world. Must Read
This was totally different to the books I usually read. Very clever in places, a little drawn out in others but I did enjoy it. Based on cloning and the effects of it as well as the madness of the person hell bent on getting the perfect clone. Well worth a rwad
After reading the first book- this was clearly a no-brainer. 🤓 the book hooked me good from the start till the very end!! 👁🫦👁 it was a book filled with drama, thriller and enjoyment. I was very addicted to this 😋😋
I loveeedddd this book. Happy ending, suspense and the plot twist was amazing. One of my fav science fiction YA books ever with a tinge of romance. Recommended for 11-15 years.
