An #enemiestolovers #romantasy #shapeshifting #faeromance story.

This was my first story by this author. I really liked the cover. It has a pretty fantasy feel.

The Alpha King Zen finds a woman on his land who seems to have no memory of who she is or where she came from. Instead of dealing with her he takes her to his castle and takes care of her. Giving her a job and a place to stay.

Feelings develope between them and they became romantically involved. Mireille (the name she choose for herself) seems to be followed by danger. Or is she the one that brings danger to the kingdom? Who is she? Why are they looking for her?

The book ends with a cliffhanger so offcourse I will be reading the 2nd one Royal Fate.

I hope to see more of Zen's sister Cyndella and the Enchantress Endora.

A story about a woman with #amnesia trying to find out who she is and where she belongs.

The story contains fantasy elements, romance, suspense, drama, battles, steamy sexy scenes, betraya, trust and more.

Thanks @booksprout and Vera for letting me read it.

onward to book two

First off. It is a cliffhanger. Personal pet peeve but the story was good. Not necessarily an original plot but well constructed and engaging. Sprinkles of spice without being raunchy. I’m eager to see what books two brings.

This is book one of the Fae King of Silverhold Duet and the main characters are Alpha King Zen, a wolf shifter fae with magic, and Mirielle, a fae found in a cave within the crowns lands, where no uninvited people were allowed. Zen was out on his usual run through the woods when he scented something different and that led him to find a fae in the cave, who at first glance he thought was dead. She was in a bad state and her clothing was torn and looked like rags. When he came right up to her he could see her breathing slightly and she awoke as he spoke to her wanting to know what she was doing there! When she does try to answer him, she can’t give him any answers at all, as she has no memory of herself, how she even got to the cave, not even her own name! Zen is incredibly angry, but does take her back to his castle and has his healers and his enchantress, Endora, look at her. Endora can’t read anything from her mind, she is as blank as she has said, but she does show some skill in botany. So Zen places her in the servant’s quarters and has her apprentice to Lacroix, in the greenhouse. Zen has been very careful and distrusting of all those around him and his younger sister Cyn (Cyndella), after their own mother was murdered by someone who worked in the palace, but was actually part of the Order of Souls, who wanted the whole royal family dead!

Cyn has suffered badly after their mother was murdered and hasn’t really recovered since, mostly staying in her room or inside, not trusting anyone. Soon Zen and Mirielle become closer to each other, as he begins to trust her and nothing bad can be found out about her. His icy side is soon melting under her beauty, especially her eyes and he can’t resist her. He soon moves her up to one of the wings on the royal family’s floor of the castle, into his mother’s former rooms. A nightmare soon shows Mirielle a little of her previous life and what is shows, shocks her and means she is Zen’s ultimate enemy! She is reluctant to reveal this to him and her delay leads to him mistrusting her yet again. One thing she does reveal is that she can turn into a mouse! When Zen arranges for an annual party to take place at the palace, it is interrupted by an attack by Agnan, a dark fae and leader of the Order of Souls, and his female followers, all orphans like Mirielle. He wants all royal families to be taken out and returned the kingdom of Mystara to the people. He speaks to Mirielle and calls her Little Mousie, so clearly knows her, but she can’t remember him at all! Mirielle, Zena and Cyn all make it out of the battle safely, although Cyn is worse than ever afterwards. When she overhears Zen talking about going to a place in town, she shifts and follows him, but finds herself in a sex club where he was going to relieve some stress!

Seeing her in the skimpy outfit she grabs from a room, Zen can’t resist kissing her, but isn’t happy with her reluctance to tell him what has been bothering her. He decides to run back with one of his guards, leaving her to go back in the car with his other guard. Their journey back is interrupted and Mirielle actually ends up saving Zen from almost being drained by the dark fae. Feeling more for her, Zen starts a romance with her which others soon figure that out, as he has guards placed outside his and her rooms, but is often sleeping in her room or his together. Cyn and Endora are not happy with his move, as they still have doubts about Mirielle, especially since they really know nothing about her. He has fallen for her and it isn’t long before he proposes and a wedding is planned, only for Agnan to reappear to Mirielle in the gardens and forcing her to take action that will hurt Zen really badly. Her dark past will be revealed if she doesn’t go with Agnan and give up on the future she had hoped for. Now she is dragged back to her former life and her real name and memories revealed! She doesn’t want to leave Zen, but knows he can’t possibly want her once he finds out about her true identity and her past, but she will try and do all she can to save him and his kingdom. More to come in the next book as these revelations become clear and Agnan’s twisted truth is exposed. I can’t wait. I received an ARC copy of this book form BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the books above.

The beginning of the story had me hooked but it seemed like the more the story went on the less it kept me hooked. It was a good story, but I just expected it to keep me as captivated as it did in the beginning. Alpha Zen is determined to keep outsiders from entering his land after a tragic loss and betrayal occurred in his kingdom. Those who enter are dealt with swiftly. However, he finds a woman (Mirielle) on his land who has no memory of her name, her past and how she came to be on his lands, so how can he condemn a woman that's so lost. He allows her to stay in his castle and work and things between them develop quickly, unexpectantly, and against the wishes of others. Zen's sister Cyndella is having no on it. Cyndella was an okay character, but I would have liked to get to know her character a little more before all of her craziness and hysterics. She just came off as too much too soon and was the same way throughout the whole story. I thought the main characters were okay, but I didn't love them. A few of Mirielle's secrets were revealed but there is so much more. Zen came off as a strong character in the beginning of the story but as the story went on it seemed as if his other head made half of the decisions when he should have maybe heeded enchantress Endora's suggestions more. This story has suspense, drama, battles, steamy scenes, romance, betrayal and more. It ends with a cliffhanger, and I will be reading the next book because I want to see how things turn out. Even though this is not my favorite book from this author, it will not stop me from reading and checking out her other books. With that being said, I will tell readers that just because this story wasn't a hit for me doesn't mean that it won't be a hit for others, and readers will never truly know if a story is for them until they give it a try themselves.

FORGOTTEN FATE is the first installment in the Fae King of Silverhold Duet series by Vera Rivers, one of my favorite authors. I was drawn into the story from the beginning by the captivating characters and a plot that left me wanting more, I've already started the second installment "Royal Fate".

Following a personal tragic loss and betrayal by a secret sect in his  kingdom, Alpha King Zen is determined to protect his people and kingdom by keeping outsiders from entering his land. When Zen discovers a strange woman almost dead from a beating, left with no memory of what happened or even who she is Zen decides he can't kill her until he can find out who she is and why she's in his kingdom.

The stranger is thankful the Alpha didn't carry out his terminal justice to trespassers, instead he had her healed and gave her a job, but he doesn't trust her. She wants to learn the truth about who she is and prove he can trust her, but will everyone be satisfied with the truth?  Will she? Will Zen?

I wish there had been a little slower build-up to the steamy attraction.

Also, too bad we werent given more insight into Cyndella, Zen's sister, besides the fact she was dangerously depressed, paranoid and hysterical about more betrayal and death coming.  Maybe that's in the next installment, the "Royal Fate".

This review might contain spoilers.

I'm still giving this story a 3-star rating because the main storyline is intriguing and sucked me in. This could've been my favorite fantasy romance book of 2023. Both of the characters were well developed; the author really got into the characters shoes by explaining how they feel and react, and the modern kingdom vibes along with the world-building of a family and country trying to heal from a traumatic loss created this beautiful tapestry waiting to be admired.

Around 50% of the way through, it's almost like the author either forgot to start the romance between the two or just wanted to get to the smut. The romance was like an explosion, and they were immediately getting into bed together without any development. And all of a sudden, the love interest has these possessive feelings towards her, which was great but better placed at like 75% of the book.

It's because of the romance not being written into the main storyline properly that I'm giving this story a 3-star rating since I was under the impression this was a fantasy romance, but up until 50%, it felt more like a romantasy.

'Forgotten Fate' is the first book of the "Fae King of Silverhold Duet" by Vera Rivers. If you've read the blurb you'll know a young woman was found deep in the forest of his home by Alpha King Zen. She had no idea who she was nor remembered how she got there. Even though she doesn't know her name, she decides she wants to be called Mirielle. As time progresses these two fall into a passionate relationship. Bit by bit Mirielle is remembering bits and pieces. But she can't for the life of her remember if she is there to help save the king and his kingdom or if she is the one they need to fear. Ms. Rivers has created a world full of drama, angst, danger, and magic with 3D characters that seem so real it's like watching everything happen. Not only that, her narratives bring all the reactions and feelings they are going through to life. Since this book ends on a cliffhanger I can't wait to start the next book and discover what happens.

This was my first time reading Vera Rivers. I was glad to read someone new but looking the book up on Amazon had me wary since there are no reviews yet, and I'd be the first.

This is not like other books I have read. It's been a long time since I read about the Fae, but I was not disappointed in getting back to them. The Fae are so versatile, and I loved Vera's view of them.

The Fae King is hot (as he should be), but geez can we get some warning when it comes to chemistry? I want to be there as well; I mean there is always a brother or cousin or another hot relative that needs attention, and I can give it to them!

Sorry, I'm back on track now.

This book was a really good read and a good introduction to a new world. Waking up in an unfamiliar place with no memory and no way to leave as a way to protect a whole world is not easy, but having a hot "captor" can make it worth it.

Finding out you could be a danger to that world is not so good of a feeling. Fighting to protect that world takes on a new meaning.

I recommend this book and its sequel.

Alpha King Zen finds a fae woman hurt badly on his property and brings her back to his healers. He wants to know why she was trespassing. However, when she wakens, she doesn't remember anything. When they tell her that she has to come up with a name for herself until she remembers she calls herself Mirielle. Its not long before she gets close to Zen and things get complicated. Just as they start making plans for their future together someone from her past shows up and unlocks her blocked memory. What she learns changes everything for her and Zen and she feels like she has no choice but to leave. Will Zen find her? Can they find a way to be together?

This is an amazing series that will hook you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

Sorry, it was terrible.
With a good summary, I thought I will love it. I didn't.
There is no story whatsoever. No deep characters. No romance. Not even steamy scenes. Nothing. Just two, let's say person, who, out of the blue decided to be together. When literally a page ago they not even liked each other. Not even know each other. Not even trusted each other. And nothing happened between the two, nothing! Just flipped a page, and bumm, love!
Also can't wrap my head around the way, they try to knit together a lot of mideavalish and modernish stuff, with the completely meaningless magic.
I rolled my eyes so much, they almost fell out! I was irritated by the world. The girl. The king. The whole 'I-don't-remember-anything' and I-don't-trust-anyone' plot. By the sister, who's only trait is being hysterical. So nope, definetly not my book!

Forgotten Fate is the first installment in the Fae King of Silverhold series written by Vera Rivers and was such a delight to read. I enjoyed the world-building, characters, and all the tropes that came with the story.

The blurb caught my attention on Booksprout and I am thrilled to have had the chance to read it. The beginning is captivating, drawing you into the characters and setting everything into motion. The Alpha King and Mireille are great characters, I loved the parts they played and what they each brought to the story.

This story does end on a cliffhanger, once that had me eager for book 2, Royal Fate.

Oky so I have very mixed feelings about this book.

On the one hand I kinda cringed and on the other I found the dark fae interesting.

Soooo Zen was just too obsessed for me. Like I get that he was inlove but never have I seen a better example of "love is blind".
No offense of course towards Miri but damn Zen you need to sit down and think for a second. He was thinking with the wrong head.

Miri sweer Miri how I wished things weren't such a shitshow for her. Nothing was really her fault. She really did love Zen and with the limited memories she had while being terrified just tried to do right by him.

Zen, king of Silverhold, finds a lost woman with amnesia on his land. At first he is angry and wants her gone, however, he soon finds himself enthralled with the mystery woman and vows to help her figure out who she is.

I liked this story but honestly I was slightly bored with it. I will though continue with the series as the first two books were very good, and I did like this story as well.

The start to this story is a bit slow but after a minute it picks up. I think this is due to the author world-building and establishing characters. Zen, the King, finds a woman in his territory. She is apparently lacking any memories of her past. This is what begins an interesting story with twists and turn.

A likable fantasy that ends on a cliff-hanger. So read knowing that you will need to invest in the second book to get the entire story to completion.

What a read! Fast paced and action filled from the very start, I found myself drawn into this incredible and descriptive world that the author has created for us. Mirelle finds herself beaten and with no memories and so the king who finds himself drawn to her does not know if she is a treat to the kingdom or not.
It’s brimming with drama, danger, intrigue, suspense, betrayal and magic and our characters are strong, interesting and well thought out. Hooked from start to finish, I cannot wait to read book two!

A Fae romance that starts with the FMC not knowing who she is … and she is found by a 🥵 shifter that just so happens to be King.

The kingdom has been under attach and trust does not come easily. There is something between Mirielle and Zen though .. something he keeps trying to push away …

A lot of time together but no memories
A family in turmoil due to the murder of their mom
A King who believes he may have found his mate

A cliffhanger that stinks .. so picking up the next book now.

This book ends with a cliffhanger, so it's highly recommended that you also read Royal Fate to get the full story.

Mirielle doesn't know who she is or how she ended up in the King's territory. The book goes through her journey into remembering who she is, but there's danger along the way.

I really enjoyed reading this book and will definitely be reading the second part!

If you are anything like me then don't start reading this book until you have the next one all ready to go. There is a cliffhanger at the end and I was so sucked into the story that I'm not sure that I didn't end up screaming "Noooo" when it ended.
The characters are fantastic and you are drawn into their story. The world building is exceptional and you honestly feel it swirling round and encompassing you as you read. There is something so exciting, beautiful and tangible about it all.

I enjoyed this story about a girl with no memories and a King with a past. Get to meet and watch these two interact and be drawn to each other. But of course there is action, trouble, intrigue, drama, and surprises. Was hooked and had to see how it played out and what clues would be find along the way to explain the mystery girl.

The story would have been better if it didn't seem to have been rushed and squished all together to the point of not making sense.
I thought it was bad due to the migraine I was having when i started it, but no that wasn't the case.

Forgotten Fate

Most of this book is about watching Mirielle and Zen go through their internal mindsets of mistrust and attraction. This is the beginning of a series, and there is a cliffhanger ending.
