I read this book as part of a Goodreads Psychology book club read. I took my time to read this book as I really got into the characters. Sensations is a nerdy, military, technology driven book. The book is based during the COVID-19 halt to outside fun. As a result of not getting out and seeing our friends and living normal lives, we were stuck inside as life moved on by. Sensations is based on getting away from the mundane of life and enjoying better times. The main character lost her mom to cancer and she wanted to relive the good times with her mom, so she developed a program call SCARS that allowed the daughter to remember and feel better times.

The book has a lot of real life moral issues, like if a life changing program was developed, would it be used imprperly by bad people. The author covers this scenario by Russian baddies using a knock off opens sourse of SCARS for monitary gain and greed. A big piece of this book covers this storyline.

Sensations also opens up the discussion of Artificial Intellegience (AI). Is AI bad or is to good, but can be used for nefarious reasons. That is the question I kept asking myself as I read Sensations. I enjoyed the technical and military aspects of this book. It was good to see PsyOps or MISO used in a storyline that mades complete sense. I'm glad I get a chance to read Sensations. Kevin Byrne did an amazing job or telling a very entertaining and thought provoking book. Brava, Mr. Byrne!

A riveting story with interesting characters and a fast moving plot. Don’t start it with a packed schedule; you won’t want to put it down.
