What a pleasant surprise. My attempts to read this strip in the past left the impression it has no plot, just a series of loosely connected incidents. There are periods when this is true. Most of the strips in this first volume have narratives, and they aren't bad. Foster's art would improve in PRINCE VALIANT, but is very good here, and the same criticism/praise applies to his storytelling. It is interesting to see Burroughs's version of the character in use, though Tarzan is perhaps a bit prone to be kind to those in need. Is there a way to make this three and a half stars? I'm looking forward to volume 2.
