Serena Meadows has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Connie and Mitchell. Mitchell runs the ranch where Connie is the veterinarian. She is checking on Talisman's wounds when her phone rings. She knows it is her mother by the ringtone so she ignores it. Mitchell goes to the barn to check on Talisman and sees Connie. He hears her phone ring but she ignores it and he says "Don't you think you should answer that?" making her jump. She turned to find him leaning against the barn door, a pleased look on his face. "Mitchell, you scared me half to death, she said, putting a hand on her heart. "You shouldn't sneak up on people like that. "There was no sneaking, I tried to make some noise, but you were... his words died away when her phone started buzzing again. "Ignoring your phone." She tells him that it was just her mother and it could wait, she said, giving Talisman one more scratch before turning away. "I assume that you're here to do more than just annoy me." "As a matter of fact, I was coming to see when Talisman will be ready to ride," he said, taking a few steps toward her. "Annoying you was just a bonus." They are still having words when a woman comes up with a baby. The woman is Suzette and she hands the baby to him and says, she is yours, I can't do it anymore. Mitchell is shocked by the news and says that the baby can't be his since they broke up over a year ago. She tells him that she didn't find out until after they broke up. She tells him that she signed over her rights to the baby and she was all his. Suzette tells him she has some more stuff in the car that he will need. The baby is crying and Connie tells Mitchell to give the baby to her. Mitchell goes after Suzette and sees that she is taking things out of her car. By the time he gets to her, she is driving off. Connie had called some of the ranch hands and asked for them to move the baby's stuff and bring it to the house. Mitchell goes back to Connie and she gives him the baby back. It starts to rain and Mitchell asks about getting her wet. When they get to the house, his housekeeper, Josie is there and wants to know what is going on when she sees the baby. Connie takes the baby while they talk. Josie tells Mitchell that she will have a list of people that he can call to help him before she leaves the next day. Connie has the baby calmed down and she is now asleep. The ranch hands come in with the baby's things and Mitchell gets help in getting some of the things put together. The next morning, Connie goes to the house and when she gets inside, she sees Mitchell and Gracie asleep on the couch. Josie tells her to let them sleep and for her to have some breakfast before they wake up. When Mitchell wakes up, Josie has a list of people for him to call. One is a family lawyer. He calls and makes an appointment with her for later that evening. Connie ends up fixing dinner and taking it to Mitchell that night. She is still there when the lawyer arrives. Mitchell wants her to stay since she has been there from the start. While Penelope, the lawyer is there, someone knocks on the door. When Mitchell answers it, there is a woman there and she says she is Ophelia Crenshaw from social services and she is there for the baby. She says that Mitchell is not fit to raise a child and she would be better away from him. Penelope asks her where her backup is. Things get nasty and Mitchell tells her to get off his property. She says that he was going to make a mistake and she was going to make sure he did. Ophelia tells Mitchell that she is going to call his boss and get him fired and tell the people in town what type of person he is and no one in town would talk to him. Mitchell told her that she didn't want to do that since he knew a few of her secrets. With that, she says that she is going to call the judge the next morning. Penelope told her that she would need to get up extra early since she was having breakfast with him and it would be embarrassing for Ophelia if they were together. With that Ophelia stomps off and says that things are not over and leaves. After Ophelia leaves, Mitchell starts laughing and can't stop. Finally, he gets control of himself and tells Connie and Penelope what he knows of Ophelia. He tells the story of his ex-wife Darlene being Ophelia's daughter and how she told him she was pregnant and got him to marry her. When he found out it was all a lie, he divorced Darlene and ended up leaving the state. Somehow, Connie ends up helping Mitchell with Gracie and it is starting to get to her. She starts to have feelings for him and she doesn't understand them. Connie gets a call from her mother demanding she come home. When Connie tells her that she can't her mother gets mad. Connie is waiting for her trust fund but her mother does something to stop her from getting it. When Mitchell finds out what is going on, he offers to help her by getting married. This way it helps both of them. They work out the details and go get married. On the day they get married, Josie comes back and comes to the courthouse with Gracie. Josie wants to talk to Mitchell and Connie takes Gracie. Josie wants to know if he has told Connie that he is a wolf shifter. He tells her no and she tells him that he needs to tell her soon. After Connie's mother finds out about her and Mitchell getting married, she is mad and says that she and her father are coming to see her and stop what Connie was trying to do. Things do not go well when Connie's parents. Her mother is a snob and looks down on Mitchell. Things get to the point where her father finally tells her mother to leave Connie alone. Connie's mother tells her father that she is going upstairs and for him to go with her. He tells her he is not going. Her mother goes upstairs mad and Connie and her father have a talk. Her father tells her that it is past time for him to leave her mother and he is going to file for a divorce. They are still talking when one of the ranch hands comes in and tells them about a fire headed their way. Mitchell tells the ranch hand to go and saddle some horses. He makes arrangements for Josie to keep Gracie and to promise that she will leave if she is told to along with Connie's father. Connie's father tells him that he is sending her mother home but is staying with his granddaughter. Connie tells him that she is going with him but he wants her to stay with Gracie. He says that if something happened to her he didn't know what he would do. She tells him the same thing so he tells her to stay close to him. They have to go and move cattle across the river. Things happen and Connie is in the river and gets thrown from her horse. Mitchell can't get to her on his horse so he shifts and stands in front of her so the cattle don't run her over. When Connie sees the wolf, she gets scared. Mitchell backs her up so that she is on the shore and she passes out. Miguel, a ranch hand comes up to him and tells him that it is going to rain and that he needs to get Connie up to the cave and warm and dry. It takes a while for Connie to wake up and when she does, she doesn't remember things right away. Mitchell tells her what happened at first and then she says something about a wolf. She thinks that she is going crazy but he tells her that he has something to tell her. He goes to tell her about him being a wolf shifter. After he is done, she tells him that she wants to see his wolf again. At first, she is not sure but when he bows his head to her, she goes up to him and starts rubbing his fur. She feels something happening between them and she is not scared of him now. The next morning, they meet back up with Miguel and head back to the ranch. When they get there, Josie is upset since Ophelia has come with the sheriff and taken Gracie. Josie gives him papers that the sheriff had given them and it claims that Clarissa, the nanny he hired was charging him with wanting to have a relationship with her, and if not she was fired. Mitchell calls Penelope and when she comes over, he tells her that Clarissa was the one who put the moves on him. Penelope asks "Can you prove that she is the one who started things?" Mitchell thought and then said that he could. He goes to his computer and brings up a website. It is a nanny cam and it shows everything that happened. Penelope asks him to put it on a flash drive so that she can show it to the judge when they go to court. When they go to court, Penelope gives the flash drive to the judge and after he watches it, he tells them that Gracie is going to go back to Mitchell. He says that he is going to call Ophelia's boss and tell them what happened. He looked at Clarissa and told her that it was up to the sheriff if he wanted to charge her with filing a false police report.

Daddy Wolf's Fake Marriage, Book 1 of the Prospect Shifter Daddy Mates series, was about Mitchell Stewart, a rather/wolf shifter, and Dr. Connie Delmonico, the resident veterinarian. (No ages were given for either of the characters.)

Mitchell and Connie had worked on the same ranch for several years, but they always seemed to butt heads with one another, pushing each other's buttons. Those around them believed it was just an attraction they were fighting, but Mitchell and Connie, each believed it was animosity, pure and simple.

When one of his former bed partners showed up one night with a baby in tow, Mitchell was shocked to learn he was a father. The woman told him she didn't want the baby and had, in fact, already signed away all of her parental rights. She then disappeared.

I shelved this as a "slow-burn", but it was really more like a "no-burn" story. Once again, by Chapter 12, there had only been a single kiss shared between the two main characters. The rest of the time was dull and boring, and more about their arguments than anything else. He was left "holding the bag" so to speak, and had to learn how to be a parent and care for an infant.

This book was quite disappointing in many ways. While the angst and drama should have been high, they were merely low-key to the point of being almost non-existent. The plot was pretty lame, and it was not as free-flowing as it could have been. The whole story felt like a freshly plowed field, with all the lumps of dirt to trip the reader's smooth reading path. It was just so choppy and clumsily written.

Both of the main characters should have been well-developed and mature, but they weren't. They were mediocre and there was much to be desired where they were concerned. The background information on both of them was pretty sketchy and hard to decipher. The author would offer up some type of explanation but would keep it hidden so that the reader was left in the dark more times than was comfortable. Even the spicy scenes (there were just two) were at the very end and weren't all that spicy, to be honest. Another issue with the book was that the title didn't fit the story either.

If this was a Shifter story, there was hardly anything to prove it. By Chapter 12, there had been no sign other than the MMC talking about "a touch of magic" sizzling around him that he had to stifle, and only a handful of times the magic was mentioned for the rest of the book. Mitchell seemed determined to never tell Connie that he was a wolf shifter. It was as if adding the shifter vibe to the story was to sensationalize the book, but since it had so little to do with any of it, all it did was make the story feel lame.

The book was so disappointing that I only gave it a one-star rating. The grammatical errors, the "no-burn" pace, the lack of shifting, and all of the other things I found wrong with it may cause me to not want to continue with the series. Even the epilogue was not what it should have been.

When Fake Is Real ….

As you read, the tension builds. No, not the kind of tension between packs or competitive alphas, this tension is something very different. A controlling mother, a social worker with an axe to grind and a jealous nanny that wants to be more than a nanny. They all are troublemakers and definitely make their grievances known.

Then there’s the frustration between Mitchell and Connie that finally leads to attraction that had been denied for so long. Everyone could tell they were the perfect pair but denial and pushing each other away led to bickering.

And secrets never remain secret… especially when the one you are marrying has no idea you’re a shifter. It takes a life and death situation before Connie realizes who, or should I say what, she married. Imagine her shock when her husband saves her life by becoming a wolf!

🤔 OBSERVATIONS, QUESTIONS

✒︎ Why would Josie call social services without knowing if Mitchel was keeping Gracie or not?

✒︎,Appreciated that the story didn’t use profanity crude language. That’s a big plus for me.

✒︎,Everyone keeps saying Connie and Mitchell belong together … they just can’t see it… err, have a hard time admitting the attraction. LOL…. Love can be soooo petty when in denial.

✒︎ A woman scorned… well three women feeling scorned will surely lead to trouble. What happened to the contentious, full of herself mother? Did Penelope get Ophelia’s job removed? How about Clarissa? What she did was a crime. Needed more development into these situations, which would have made a better epilogue. Connie’s mother needs a true comeuppance. Ophelia needs to be ‘put in her place’. Clarissa needs jail time and hit with a BIG civil suit too.

✒︎ Epilogue had little to do with the story. Would prefer deeper development with the current storyline to close gaps rather than a promo for what I think is the next book.

Simply wonderful read, captivating story you’ll find totally engaging and love every moment of

This is a simply captivating read and I guarantee that you will find this story to be totally engaging, you will love every moment of this simply amazing read that will leave you engrossed by this amazing read.

Mitchell has been doing his best to care for the baby he has just discovered belonged to him and as a man with no experience whatso ever some of the difficulties encountered have been very entertaining reading and I guarantee that you will feel exactly the same about this book and will enjoy it as much as I myself have.

When Mitchell came to her and asked for her to help him with the raising of the baby because he has no idea what he is doing she actually decides that she will and he sees that this is going to call for some very different treatment if he and the baby are going to make it as a family.

He’s struggling with his new baby, and I’m struggling to get my hands on my trust fund that would allow me to build my dream clinic, she agrees to help him if he will pretend that there is a fake marriage which will then allow her to progress with her dream and to build the clinic she has always dreamed of.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

This was a great read and the love hate relationship between Mitchell and Connie had me lol as they push each others buttons all the while hiding their true feelings for each other. Mitchell is a wolf shifter and runs a ranch when his life is turned upside down when his ex turns up and drops off their baby girl Gracie on him and walks away because she never wanted a child. Connie is a human and a Veterinarian and work at the same ranch as Mitchell who is so sexy but drive her crazy but apart from that her dream is to open her own clinic and if she marries she can get her trust fund. Mitchell is struggling with his daughter and with the social worker causing issues and the lawyer telling him that he should marry because it will look better for him.and Connie feels bad for him and when they start to talk and they realise that if they marry each other both there problems would be solved and now that they are together all the feeling that they have been holding back come through. When her life is in danger and Mitchell must turn into his wolf to save her life but when he changes back will she still want to marry him in the end.

Ranch manager Mitchell Stewart and Veterinarian Connie Delmonico, have been circling each other for months. They spend most of their time together arguing about the breeding horses their absentee boss has recent purchased, though the working horses are also frequent bones of contention. Everyone seems to know that they are attracted to each other, but they don't see it. Then Mitchell's life changes when an ex-girlfriend unexpectedly dumps a crying baby girl in his arms, tells him the baby is his, and drives away into the sunset. What's he supposed to do with a baby?

Connie tries not to get drawn in to Mitchell's daddy issues, but little Gracie is too cute to ignore. She might not know a lot about babies, but she knows more than Mitchell does. For some reason, the time she spends with him and the baby in the evenings is something she looks forward to. But Connie has family issues of her own and somehow the solution seems to be fake marrying Mitchell. She is determined to protect her heart but it seems Mitchell has other ideas.

Mitchell and Connie are constantly arguing but when Mitchell suddenly finds himself a single dad to Gracie, Connie steps up to help him. When Connie's parents decide to interfere in her life it is Mitchell who helps her with the suggestion they get married. As they spend more and more time together they start to realize that their constant arguing was hiding the attraction they felt for each other. But Mitchell has a secret, and with a woman from social services who has a massive grudge against Mitchell and a nanny who wants him, their life together becomes complicated, especially when Mitchell has to reveal his secret to save Connie. A fantastic read that had me engrossed from the beginning and I read it in one sitting as I couldn't put it down. With lots of drama, a touch of angst and humour, this book will certainly captivate you. A massive five stars from me and I look forward to the next in the series.

OMG! Mitchel and Connie were so perfect for eachother!! He was the ranch manager and she was the ranch vet. There were routinely sparks flying between these two, as they would butt heads. Yet, when he suddenly became the dad to an infant daughter (Gracie), she was a source of support and their contentious working relationship started to transform. Could it be the sparks were really masking their true feelings? Would either one admit it if it were true?

There were some really wonderful secondary characters in this novel. They played both positive abd negative roles, but they were wonderful additions. Additionally, the pacing of the book was great. I never felt bored or bogged down in dreary, non-essential, random information, but Meadows kept the focus on Mitchell and Connie (and Gracie) throughout. The inclusion of some sexy time was nice, but not overdone.

This was honestly a joy to read, and I definitely recommend it. I am greatful for the ARC Meadows provided and freely leave this review. Happy Reading Y'all 📚

Mitchell Stewart runs the ranch for a rich dude out East. Josie, the cook at the main house, usually cooks for him but something is up with her family, so she has to go home. An ex shows up and drops off a baby girl and her stuff for Mitchell. The mother had already signed away her rights to the baby. Connie is the veterinarian for the ranch and she finds Mitch with the baby and the momma leaving so she helps him out. Connie and Mitch don’t really get along- all they do is argue. Everyone on the ranch do their best to help out with the baby, Gracie. Mitch and some of the other ranch hands have a big secret. They are wolf shifters. Someone from Mitch’s past shows up and causes problems, big enough that Mitch and Connie have to do something insane to help each other out. Connie’s parents are crazy. Although her dad isn’t that bad. Her mom on the other hand… She scares me. I love Josie and Connie and Mitch. They work so well together to make the ranch run. I hope that there are more books in the series.

Connie is a vet on a ranch and Mitchell runs the ranch for a wealthy man. They bicker constantly about everything. One night when they are bickering a woman shows up with a crying infant. She tells Mitchell that the baby is his and leaves after unloading a bunch of baby items. Its not long before Connie is drawn in to help Mitchell with his daughter. Both Mitchell and Connie are dealing with outside influences messing with their lives, so they decide to join together to help each other. This has them marrying however, Mitchell means to keep Connie as his own and not end things once everything is settled. Can they find a way to be together? Will their be trouble with keeping his daughter?

This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

Connie is a veterinarian at the ranch that Mitchell runs, and they always seem to get on one another's nerves. Could it be that they are secretly attracted to one another??? Imagine Mitchell's surprise when an ex-lover presents him with a newborn baby named Gracie and tells him that the baby is his. This is only the beginning of an interesting story of how two people find one another after letting go of their surface antagonism. Connie has family issues of her own, as does Mitchell. He is also keeping a very important secret from Connie that he must share when her life is in danger.

The only part that I struggled with a bit was the lack of a major reaction from Connie when she learns of Mitchell's secret. The story flowed well, and Meadows certainly knows how to weave a tale.

Excellent!

Mitchell Stewart and Connie Delmonico have worked together for over two years at the ranch. Connie is the veterinarian and Mitchell is the ranch manager and their favorite past time is to argue. But all that changes when Mitchell’s ex shows up with a baby that she claims is his, and dumbs her at his feet. Goodbye mom! Hello trouble! Fortunately, everyone at the ranch rallies around Mitchell, but the going is still tough. Add in a conniving social worker, a nanny looking for an easy mark, and Connie’s mother to the mix and you have an absolute mess. But somewhere in there Mitchell and Connie start to see each other in a different light and decide to get married. That should help calm things down. Guess again!

This is a great book with lots of surprises and best of all a sneaky love!.

Connie was the vet on the ranch ran by Mitchell for their boss in New York and did a lot of disagreeing on things. One night after taking care of one of the horses that got hurt which Mitchell thought the horse should be healed quicker, a woman he used to date left him with a baby and everything for the baby. He had some help from Connie had to fight social services the lawyer took of that. Him and Connie got married a clause in the paperwork sent to her telling her why she wouldn’t get her trust fund unless she did what was said. Mother came out to cause problems but she wasn’t able to, during moving cattle away from the smoke of the fire he had to turn to his wolf to save Connie. They talked about it and she was ok, then had to fight to get Gracie back. Good book!.

Great start to a new series. Mitchell is the foreman on the ranch and Connie is the vet who tends to the animals – they have a love/hate relationship and are always at each other, getting their digs in. When Mitchell is faced with a new arrival, all hell breaks lose in his house! But Connie is there to help with little Gracie. Mitchell and Connie get closer. When Connie’s mom starts trouble and Child Services threatens to take Gracie away, a marriage is proposed (fake).

Will this be enough for Connie to get what she wants and for Mitchell to be able to keep Gracie? But what happens when Connie is in trouble and the secret comes out about Micthell’s wolf? Will she be able to move forward with Mitchell? Or will the secrets be the end for all?

Just finished this super captivating book and I can't stop raving about it. It's a story that will keep you hooked from start to finish, trust me!

Meet Mitchell, a guy who suddenly finds himself as a dad with zero baby experience. His journey is filled with hilarious hiccups and I bet you'll enjoy his story as much as I did.

Now here's the twist. Mitchell seeks help from a lady who agrees to help him raise the baby. But there's a catch - she wants him to fake marry her so she can access her trust fund and build her dream clinic.

It's all about navigating new territories - Mitchell with his unexpected fatherhood and her with her dreams on the line.

“This might be my daughter."

Mitchell has his hands full running a ranch, he doesn't need a baby dropped in his arms with no warning, but life doesn't always ask us what we want.

Connie is great at caring for animals, that doesn't mean she's a natural nanny.

This done in one book throws together two co-workers who go from a tense working relationship to helping one another out after hours, and in the process take the time to get to know one another, and finally understand the dynamic that has plagued their working hours for two years. With a nice focus on community, and chosen family, this story highlights not just the challenges of being a single parent, but becoming a parent overnight.

Mitchell runs a huge ranch in Prospect, Montana. Connie is the vet on the property. They get along like oil and water. One night, a baby girl just a few months old is dumped on Mitchell. He accepts she is his daughter and will care for her. Connie and others will step up to help him out as well. Connie’s family has tied her trust up with conditions. Mitchell has been attracted to her for years and now knows he wants her.

When he suggests they marry to thwart her family, she reluctantly agrees. An older woman from Mitchell’s past working for Social Services threatens to take the baby! Now, Connie’s parents are flying in, her mother determined to break things apart! Also, a fire has broken out! What will happen all the way around?

Mitchell, a ranch manager, and Connie, the ranch veterinarian, have an attraction but argue almost constantly until a sudden unexpected arrival at the ranch forces them to work together. Add in an unexpected threat to Connie’s long term plans by her horror of a mother, which leads her to agree to the fake marriage proposal by Mitchell (which is not feeling all that fake to him) and the danger of fire which sees Mitchell’s secret exposed to Connie and you have an exciting romance story. Both characters are strong, independent and likeable and deal with the multitude of challenges they face in a competent way, together. Really enjoyable first in series story.

Daddy Wolf's Fake Marriage is Book 1 of the Prospect Shifter Daddy Mates series by Serena Meadows. Mitchell is a wolf shifter and Connie is a veterinarian working at the same ranch. They have fought their attraction for years but finally give in when he suddenly finds out he has a daughter and Connie's mother refuses to give her her trust fund. They decide to get fake married to solve all their problems. Only to fall in love for real and have some problems with outsiders they need to solve. Connie and Mitchell have spent their time working together nipping at each other. The heat between them simmering away underneath all the arguments. It's not until the unexpected arrival of little Gracie that they actually take a moment really look at each other.

Then keeping Gracie safe and family issues throw them together.

A wonderful hot love story with a little bit of shifter thrown in. The world building is great, the supporting characters are genuinely interesting and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

We start the story with Mitchell. Who is he? What does he do for a living? Finally, where is he? Who is Joseie, and what does she do for a living? We also get a chance to meet Connie. What do we find her doing? Ophelia, Penelope, and Clarissa were all interesting additions to the story. When a fire hits the ridge, what do we see happen? I loved Connie's father and detested her witch of a mother. Who are Jessie and Bonnie? I cannot wait for the next book. I fell in love with Mitchell and Connie! Enjoy the read!

Mitchell is the ranch manager with a young daughter, Gracie, that was just dropped off. Connie is the ranch vet and his go to with baby problems. Just as their feelings are getting steamier, a social worker, a nanny and his mother cause problems. Terrific characters and a great storyline keep you on edge until the very end. Loved their chemistry and their strength when going up against all the negative people. Terrific ending.

Mitchell and Connie’s story has these two coming together since she is the vet for his ranch and he finds out he has a baby girl. Surprise. Now he needs help and she needs money to get her clinic started but she needs to marry to get her trust fund. So why not get together to help each other out. But how will this end. Together or going separately after she learns his truth and they get what the other wants. Great story and intriguing characters.

I enjoyed the bickering that Connie and Mitchell always seemed to be engaged in and how everyone around them knew that they were right for each other! There were several very interesting other what I call "un-supporting" characters including Connie's mother, the nanny, and the social worker. Pretty short read with just a small amount of wolf shifter action.

Secrets Never Stay Secret very long
Mitchell’s beautiful baby, an attraction to Connie that is sizzling, and Mitchell, who is keeping a secret from Connie, all this would make a good story. Add in a plot filled with intrigue, threats, and danger in the guise of a controlling mother, a social worker with an axe to grind and a jealous ex-nanny create a gripping must-read tale. I did hate the ending.

This was a cute series opener and it brings together shifter and ranch manager, Mitchell, and Connie, the veterinarian. These two come across as loving to hate each other but they sure pull together when baby Grace gets unexpectedly dumped into Mitchell's arms. As drama swirls around them, they make the decision to marry to help solve each other's problems... As secrets get revealed, these two find more than fake defining them and they get that coveted HEA. Good fun!

Nice quick read

It’s a fast paced story, being only 175 pages, and overall it was enjoyable. Certain pacing aspects of the story became convoluted and could have been executed better since it’s so short. There is almost nothing on the shifter aspect of it, it basically doesn’t play a role at all.
The grammatical errors and weird use of “…” could have been checked better as well, but it was a nice read overall. Would recommend for a quick read.

Changes and solutions

Mitchell and Connie butt heads over many things. Connie's job as the vet on the ranch Mitchell runs means that many times he has to adhere what she says about the animals' health and well being. When Mitchell suddenly becomes a dad and Connie's mom tries to marry her off they come up with the ingenious plan to get fake married. Will they ever admit their true feelings or will circumstances tear them apart?
