I loved Everything You Need To Know by Emily Brott so much, absolutely engaging, wonderful and a clever plot that had me hooked pretty much from the start.

I read this book as part of a buddy read with an awesome bunch of ladies and it quickly grabbed everyones attention let me tell you!

Elle has two young boys, is married to Richard and runs a catering business with her friend Georgie.

Then we have Nora who escaped her home from domestic violence and had no choice but to leave her children behind, she’s been working (and living) in a woman’s shelter for 10 years.

Fate decides that Nora and Elle’s paths are to collide and events suddenly feel unhinged. I cannot say anymore…..🤐

THAT twist was excellent!!!! This story is very captivating and memorable, thank you so much Emily Brott for sending me a copy of your new book to read.

🌼Friends you won’t want to miss this one! Check out Emily’s bio to see where the book is available to purchase.

I was extremely excited when Emily Brott reached out to me on Instagram and offered me a copy of Everything You Need To Know. This book can also be found on Kindle Unlimited right now, and if you are looking for something involving time travel and enjoy books where the characters can change their destiny, I highly recommend this book! Elle’s character drove me crazy at times, due to the relationship she decided to stay in and the fact she couldn't see what a terrible person her husband was. Abusive relationships always get me, especially when the person being abused won't leave, so this storyline tugged at my emotions the entire time. I am fully aware that there can be many reasons someone can't (or won't) leave but having gone through some extent of it as a child and NOT being able to leave even though I wanted to probably triggers me a little bit. Just a little right? 🤣

There is no audiobook for Everything You Need To Know which is why it took me about 2 weeks to get through it, but that in no way reflects the book itself. I thought the pacing was perfect and my anxiety was through the roof while I was reading it. I couldn't wait to see what would happen with Nora and Elle, and I LOVED the way the book ended. There is plenty of closure as well as a bit of and both of those things combined made me very happy. I am shocked that this is the first time I have heard of Brott, and it certainly will not be the last time I read her. She is clearly a very talented author and writer, and if you are looking for something with mouthwatering food descriptions, a touch of humor, and a storyline that will get your emotions going, I would recommend grabbing a copy of this now.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

When Emily contacted me to ask if I was interested in reading her new book, I jumped at the chance. I really enjoyed her debut novel The Switch Theory and had high expectations for her latest novel.

The synopsis appealed to me, and I loved that one of the main protagonists, Elle - my namesake - is a foodie like me. She is a caterer and I used to work as a chef.

I read Everything You Need to Know as part of a group buddy read with a great bunch of ladies and it was fantastic!

The book tackles a very important issue and it is crafted with an early twist that I did not expect. It definitely made for a great discussion! Emily's writing style flows wonderfully and, with short chapters, this would be a perfect weekend read.

There is also a lovely little surprise at the back of the book ☺️

Thanks again, Emily. I loved every page of this book and Nora and Elle's story will stay with me for some time

Nora has been living and working in a shelter for the last 10 years - she had no choice but to leave her home and her children to escape domestic violence.

Elle, seemingly, has it all. Two beautiful children, a business, a beautiful life - but behind closed doors, all is not as it seems.

Nora and Elle have a chance encounter and Nora realises she can change the course of her life…

OH MY GOODNESS! This book is amazing! Emily has such a beautiful style of writing - it sucks the reader in and keeps you right where she wants you. There is a dual POV and the intersecting timelines is done to perfection. I was genuinely confused at first but quickly understood what was happening.

It’s no secret that Emily consulted with me to get some information for the book and it was almost an out of body experience when I was reading my own words on the page. It brought me immense pride that I was able to properly articulate process to Emily and she was able to translate it onto the page. (Andy actually enquired as to what I was reading because I had a huge smile on my face and I generally don’t show any emotion - aside from tears - while reading).

Well done Emily! I absolutely adored this book!

For the past ten years, Nora has been living and working in a women's shelter. Forced to escape a domestic violence situation, she's lost her home, children, friendships, and career.

Meanwhile, Elle seems to have it all. Marriage to Richard, two wonderful young sons, and a successful catering business. But as the saying goes, you never know what's happening behind closed doors.

In a bizarre chance encounter, Nora and Elle cross paths, only to create chaos. How can you trust the word of someone you've just met, even if it means you can prevent your own pretermined path? What if that person was a future version of YOURSELF?

I've heard nothing but praise for Everything You Need To Know, with its intriguing and unique prose. Whilst confusing at first, it didn't take me long to work out what was happening. After that, I was hooked.

Although predominantly about the effects of domestic violence, it's written in a way that comes across as delicately emphatic. My heart goes out to anyone who's been placed in situations like Elle/Nora. You're all incredibly brave. To those who dedicate their lives to assisting victims, I thank you.

Please don't miss this one, whatever you do.

I absolutely loved this book!

One of the most unique things about Everything You Need to Know is that the “twist” is revealed early on…and I loved that.

From that point forward I was truly on the edge of my seat until the very end!

This is a powerful story about domestic violence, second chances, and strong female friendships. It’s told through dual timelines…with a little help from some magical realism, one of my favorite genres.

Thank you to the author for my gifted copy! I know that both Nora’s and Elle’s stories will stay with me for a very long time.

I have had Emily’s first novel The Switch theory in my TBR for sometime and jumped at the chance when offered to review this one. I was hooked immediately and intrigue kept up the whole way though. I read it as part of buddy read and most group abandoned the schedule after a couple of days as it’s hard to put down. I enjoyed the way the author gave little hints and reveals along the way. It reminded me a lot of Sally Hepworth’s last novel. I enjoyed the early twist and trying work out whether one of the characters was reliable.

The two main characters Nora and Elle were both likable and well developed. I enjoyed getting to know them and working out their connection. Everyone needs a friend like Georgie and Elle’s husband, well let’s just say he lives up to the old fashioned nickname for his name Richard. He was definitely one you loved to hate. Emily really sensitively handled the issue of domestic violence and it gave some interesting insight into support services available. Having a main characters that were caterers/ chef meant for some drool worthy food. I did find the end a little bittersweet but was happy with how it all came together. I immediately bought her first book after finishing this one!

Thanks to the author for providing me a copy of her book.

I absolutely love when a book takes me by surprise! Going into Emily Brott's second novel, Everything You Need To Know, after enjoying her debut, The Switch Theory, I anticipated another light-hearted and fun read. However, what I discovered was something far more captivating and engaging, and I couldn't be happier about it!

The story introduces us to Nora, who has spent the last decade living and working in a women's shelter after escaping an abusive marriage, losing everything in the process – her family, friends, and her career. On the other hand, Elle's life appears picture-perfect, with a successful catering business, close friendships, two young boys, and a thriving marriage. But when these two women's lives intersect, their worlds are forever altered.

I won't reveal more to let you discover the story yourself. What truly captivated me about this book was its cleverness, well-developed characters, and thought-provoking themes that lingered long after I finished reading. Emily Brott delivered an addictive and contemplative read, and I can’t wait to read what she writes next!

A heartfelt thank you to Emily Brott for providing me with a copy for an honest review. I'd also like to shout-out to the wonderful group of ladies I read this book with – it made for a such a fun buddy read with plenty to discuss!

I was so excited when Emily contacted me to see if I would be interested in reviewing her new book. I loved The Switch Theory, so I anticipated that this would be enjoyable, too. Happy to say I was correct!

There were even more layers to this one. There was mystery, intrigue, a splash of magic realism, and a strong, brave FMC.

The story sucked me right in and I could not put it down.

As an extra bonus, there are recipes! I will need to try them 😍

Emily Brott is now firmly in my favourite authors!

✍️ Nora has been living and working at a shelter for over ten years after being forced to leave her home and children on the run. When fate strikes and she has a chance to reclaim her life again she steps at the opportunity. Elle is living a busy life with her catering business and children and keeping her husband happy. When her life collides with Nora's her life is about to get into chaos.

After reading "The Switch Theory" and absolutely delighting in it I was excited to read @emilybrottauthor next book and once again I was blown away. I couldn't put it down.

The plot was told in a way that I wasn't expecting and which therefore made it a unique and thought provoking experience to come from the story that was a great page turner till the end.

The Time Travel style of narrative was an inspiring and exciting way to explore and reverse the effects of the past whilst capturing the essence of the story and how it came together in a way that was so profound and powerful.

The characters were well rounded and uplifting in their portrayals and the way they handled their situations and issues. Beautiful, expressive and emotional writing that took me on a heartfelt journey.

A heartwarming and inspiring story that will pull at the heartstrings and show that you can make a difference and changes in your life when fate steps in.

This story follows the lives of two women, Nora and Elle. While both women share some commonalities, they ultimately live completely different lives. Nora has lost everything and is living in a shelter for women, while Elle is a married business owner and a mother to two young boys.

One day these women’s paths collide in the most unexpected of circumstances. The elder woman, Nora, has been gifted insight into the past that can help Elle avoid pitfalls in the future. But how can Nora convince Elle she’s someone she can trust, especially if it means losing herself in the process?

I was so intrigued by this story that I read it in one sitting (and no, not because I was already so far behind). However, this is the kind of book I’m reluctant to elaborate on at the risk of giving too much away. Instead I’ll just say that this novel, and its author, deserve more recognition for writing compelling characters who will keep you captivated til the very last page.

Thank you to the author for trusting me with her book, and for her patience.

@emilybrottauthor is a sweet angel for sending me her latest masterpiece.

This book took me a minute to get into because I never ever read the synopsis and just go in blind, so I was a *little* confused. Once I realized the magic that was going on, I was so enthralled.

This gave me major Ashley Poston vibes so if you like Dead Romantics or The Seven Year Slip, this would be up your alley.

This book is all about a badass woman fighting for her family. Unfortunate circumstances lead to a mom living in a homeless shelter missing her sons but never being able to see them. After a little confusion, she had a chance to rewrite history.

I loved the world that this book transported me to. Revenge is a dish best served cold 🐍

Imagine having a second chance at your life, at being a mother, with your closest friend, your career, when you’ve lost it all before.

Nora and Elle come together and accomplish the unthinkable. I wish I could say more, but I don’t want to give any spoilers.

This novel was so clever and I was hooked from page 2 and read it in one sitting. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend it!

I loved the characters (except Richard) and that women were supporting women throughout the book. It really tugged at my heart strings and as much as some parts hurt to read, it covered some really important topics that needed to be shared.

I’m really looking forward to reading more of Emily’s books.

This is the second book by Emily, and it’s fantastic.
Nora, lives and works in a women’s shelter, after being forced to flee her home.
Elle, runs a catering business with her friend Georgie, whilst looking after her son’s.
Fate intervenes, and their paths collide.
This book is about choices, reclaiming your life, and changing your future.
It is a very powerful read, and I highly recommend it.
Thank you Emily for sharing your book with me.

I loved this book! It kept me guessing throughout. I was even satisfied with the ending, and I’m usually not ever happy with the ending of a book. It was an engaging read, especially since I’ve read so many lackluster books lately. You won’t be disappointed if you like psychological type thrillers where you’re questioning what is real and what isn’t.

The story features two fabulous characters: Nora, who has been living and working at a shelter for women after being forced to flee her home and Elle who is a busy mum of two and runs a catering business with her best friend Georgie. Watching these women meet and the consequences of this encounter was enthralling and addictive and I could not stop turning those pages. I was amazed by its sensitive exploration of some very challenging themes and I adored the strong female friendships and the multiple layers to the story. There were elements of mystery, magical realism and even some delicious recipes.

The inspiration for this story came to Emily from a real woman who she encountered in a local shopping strip and its obvious that she has thought deeply about what kind of situations could lead to an average woman becoming homeless.

⚠️Everything You Need To Know highlights homelessness, domestic violence, gaslighting and coercive control, so please be cautious if you feel any of these topics may be triggering.

✨2024 BOOK REVIEW✨

📚Everything You Need To Know - Emily Brott📚

I was kindly sent this book by the author last year and I have just let it sit pretty on my shelves until now..What a pleasant surprise this was and I am kicking myself for not picking it up earlier 🙈 definitely a mistake I won’t make again! I have not been able to stop thinking about it and it’s definitely one of those stories that will stay with me.

Everything You Need To Know is a domestic thriller full of intrigue and with a twist I just did not see coming! It focuses on themes of domestic violence so it can feel quite heavy but the beautiful friendships and powerful message makes it so incredibly moving. This wonderful book is about resilience and the many ways we can impact the lives of others, as well as ourselves.

What you can expect:
👩🏼‍🍳 Domestic thriller
👩🏼‍🍳 Twist of fate
👩🏼‍🍳 Female friendship
👩🏼‍🍳 Dual timelines

I can’t believe I put off reading this for so long! It was such an excellent read and I highly recommend you give it a go 🥰

After reading The Switch Theory, I jumped at the chance to read Emily’s new book. I was part of a group of buddy readers, not only did we all love it, but a fair few of us raced ahead of the schedule as it was unputdownable. (Yes, I was one of them! 😂)

Nora and Elle both have vastly different lives. Elle runs a successful catering business with her best friend. Nora escaped a physical and emotionally abusive relationship and now lives and works at a homeless shelter. The narrative jumps between the two characters and their lives, coming together in a unique and unexpected way.

It’s a clever, emotional and captivating read. Emily writes thought provoking issues cleverly and with sensitivity. I shed a tear during one part and gasped out loud at another.

Well done Emily, this is another winner! Many thanks for my gifted copy and goodies 💌

Added bonus, the book comes with some yummy recipes at the end 😋

Nora had been living at a women’s shelter for the last ten years after losing her family, friends and career. In contrast, Elle’s life was so bright with her husband, two boys, and her promising catering business with her best friend Georgie. When fate brought the two women together, their futures were changed in a spectacular way.

Oh, I loved this. The plot really took me by a surprise, in a very good way! I also didn’t expect it to cover such a heavy topic such as abusive relationships.

Elly was such a relatable character in her attempt to be everything to everyone, and it was just an impossible goal. What was happening to her was sadly realistic. Nora’s past experience broke my heart. I could see how she went down the rabbit hole after being emaciated and feeling scared for so long.

Both heroines were strong female characters that I was cheering for. By the end of the book, I was emotionally invested in their happiness. This was such a heartfelt book with a strong plot that showcased Emily’s writing skills. I can’t wait to read her next book as she keeps outdoing herself!

This book was for sure the biggest surprise last year, in a good way. With me going into it blind I was expecting something light and cheerful like Emily’s first book Tᕼᗴ SᗯITᑕᕼ TᕼᗴOᖇY.

A few pages into it I realised that this wasn’t AT ALL what I had expected. This felt heavy and like something I needed to brace myself for. It turned out I was right.

Nothing better than a challenge, right?!

It was one of these books I got hooked from the very beginning which didn’t change until the end.

Two women, two stories, one big emotional journey.

And the TWIST… just awesome!

It made me feel all the emotions. Because despite the fact that it’s hard at times it’s also all about hope and confidence.

That’s all I’m gonna say. Giving more away would be a shame and ruin the whole trip.

Thank you so much for sending me a copy, Emily, and giving me the opportunity to enjoy a captivating and memorable journey.

So, if you feel like a very unique and touching story don’t look any further!

Love, Bella 🩷

Elle is married to Richard, and they have two young children. Elle runs a catering business with her best friend, Georgie. In a separate thread, we see Nora, who has escaped domestic violence, leaving her children behind. She lives and works at a homeless shelter, trying to get her life back on track.

As the story goes along, the author explores the two stories of the women, which intertwine in the most unexpected ways.

This was such a clever novel with a twist that I could never have seen coming and it explores some important issues in a sensitive way. The characters really pulled me into this inspiring story that I will remember for some time to come.
Definitely one I recommend.

Thank you so much to this author for the gifted review copy.
