Our canine hero is back on duty and back in Afghanistan for his most daring mission yet . . . When injured war hero Charlie finally returns to SAS service, he no longer needs Caesar’s help as a care dog. Caesar can go back to what he does best – as a super-sniffing explosive detection dog in the Australian Army. On their first mission back together, Caesar and his handler, Ben, discover a bomb at the Sydney Opera House, targeted at the visiting Secretary-General of the United Nations. A little later, while on a peace mission in Afghanistan, the Secretary-General’s helicopter goes down and he is captured by the Taliban. Caesar, Ben and Charlie join an international team to rescue him. Will they succeed? An experimental mini-submarine might help – and Caesar’s famous nose is sure to sniff out trouble along the way.
Stephen Dando-Collins is the multi-award-winning author of 48 books. His most acclaimed book on the ancient military, 'LEGIONS OF ROME,' was the culmination of decades of research into Rome's imperial legions. He has two new books in 2024: 'CAESAR VERSUS POMPEY: Determining Rome's Greatest General, Statesman & Nation-Builder,' (Turner, US), and 'THE BUNA SHOTS: The Amazing Story Behind Two Photographs that Changed the Course of World War Two,' (Australian Scholarly Publishing).
In this book Caesar and his friends are going on a rescue mission to save a very important officer who has been taken prisoner. I like how the author tells the story from both the good guys side and the bad guys side. This way you get more out of the story with more details added to make the story more complete.
Caesar the war dog is a great book because it makes the story come alive and you can’t stop reading it. I fell in love with Caesar as soon as he was mentioned in the book and how brave and courageous he is. I love the bond between Ben, Charlie and Caesar. It is a great book and highly recommend it for 10+ years. I learnt that the Secretary-General of the United Nations was Korean and that he had a daughter named Hannah and that he lived in New York. It is probably one of the best books I’ve ever read.
