"Everything else about my life has been compromised. Everything except for the part no one knew about."

Sara Astor just wants a normal life.
But AirTags on her car and a hand in her foggy shower mirror is not normal.
Her "nice" neighbour was not who she thought he was.
So Sara picks up everything and moves to her grandfather's mansion.
But what happens when she discovers more about her grandfather?
And what happens when her new hot neighbour knows too?
What will she do when her new neighbour is more than meets the eye?

"The last time I let a neighbour close, he ended up being a psycho stalker."

"She doesn't think I'm dangerous. This brings a smile to my face. If she only knew."

Thank you Katie Perez and the author agency for this arc. I was given this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

THIS. BOOK.

THIS. MF. BOOK.

I have been looking for a good stalker romance recently when this popped up on my fyp.

And this book delivered!!

You want masks? Check.
You want secret society? Check.
You want primal play? We got it.

"You like being used like a toy, don't you? At the mercy of whatever I want to do to you."

Garret Maddox is somehow the crossover of a golden retriever and murderous psycho. And that is honestly not something I thought I needed in my life…
And yet…
Here I am telling you it is everything I needed!!

The setting with the mansion in the forest, the secret society, the murderous bunker. Everything just works!!

This was fast paced. I never wanted to put it down.

This is Katie Perez' first book and I honestly could not tell.

I was pulled in from the first couple of chapters and that cliffhanger…

I cannot wait for the second book in this duet. Will literally be refreshing everything for the upcoming months/years. No joke.

"If it was something she would want to explore, I would happily be her guide."

Tropes:

🔷 Stalker
🔷 Masks
🔷 Small Town
🔷 Secret Society
🔷 Protector vibes

….

Okay. So like 10% into the book I knew who her stalker was but the FMC is dumb and literally keeps putting herself into situations where you die. A skill and a weakness.

She falls into the same destructive patterns

this was not proofread. Dozens of errors.

I disliked every character in this book.

“You take the sweet and the dark. Every aspect of me is yours.”

to start off with, i have been anticipating this book for what feels like monthssss. and it did not disappoint. it was fast-paced, and the twists had me audibly gasping.

garrett and sara had me in a chokehold for the 2 days i was reading it. i thoroughly enjoyed the secret society aspect of the book, and the whole thing with masks… oh my. i have now discovered a new love of mine 🫣

read this, if you love these;
🖤 secret society
🖤 damsel in distress
🖤 anti-hero
🖤 touch her & you 💀
🖤 stalker
🖤 praise kink

the only reason this book wasn’t 4 stars, was because of the fact sara was so terrified of her stalker and the next minute she’s into blood play and killing someone. it just seemed a little too fast of a switch up for me.

overall, i enjoyed this book, and i can’t wait for the next week. i’m looking forward to seeing what happens next for garrett and sara ✨

thankyou katie perez and the author agency for the arc 🫶🏼

Yummy, love me some mediocre writing with even more mediocre characters.

I feel like this book tried so hard to be so many things, it ended up not being any of them lol

The forced growth of the fmc? Trash. The forced softness of the mmc? Trash too.

Two stars because the idea was there, it was just messily executed.

This book moved fast. Sara moves from guy to guy and falls “in love” extremely fast but I really like Garret. This book has a couple spelling errors which I kept getting stuck on and it ends on a cliffhanger so you definitely will need to read the second book but it does keep you entertained and willing to read

I don't want to say too much because it will give away so much. You learn how the stalker is earlier on, and don't want to ruin anything.

Disclaimer: Please remember that these are my opinions and if you feel differently, that’s okay. Thanks!

Notes: POV = Dual, 1st person, FMC & MMC
Overall: I can see the potential in the author’s passion, but this is obviously her first book. Best part of this book is the fact it’s only 200 pages. If it had been any longer, I would have been forced to DNF. I’ll also read the second one because I’m not a quitter. Do not recommend, in fact if someone asked then I would recommend against it.

Main Characters: Truly, reading about Sara(h) (FMC) brought me to the brink of insanity. Sara(h) was annoying, dramatic, too paranoid, not paranoid enough, too trusting… it just goes on. I don’t have nearly as much to say about Garret (MMC) except that the writing for him makes him seem like a try-hard big scary man. So, I’ll rant about Sara(h) instead.

Annoying/Dramatic: We jump straight into the stalker stuff, there is no suspense, but Sara(h) acts like she’s been stalked for months… not two days and two instances. It was moving so quickly that I felt no suspense and felt like Sara(h) was dramatic as hell. I think the thing that bothered me the most is her info-dumping Sara(h) is the bitch that would die in a horror movie. She would see the safe car and the chainsaw shed and decide to hide in the shed. Another example, . She also shatters a wine glass by squeezing it??? In what world???

Too Trusting: I felt that Sara(h) brought the “too much too fast” thought process into every part of her life. She watches a move one time with her neighbor and the next time they watch a move, she says it’s their “routine”. She says he is “one of the most consistent parts of [her] life” when they have hung out TWICE.

Not Paranoid Enough/Too Paranoid: I hate the way Sara(h) thinks. She’ll see someone following her, see someone in the woods, etc and think “I need to stop being so paranoid”; then in the next breath she’ll turn the shower on and wait for a handprint to appear on her mirror, shocked when it doesn’t. Please be so real, that happened once and no one knows where you are right now. When she runs away, she .

Her character growth is so forced that it’s not even funny. She changes from shy, quiet, and scared to the point of panic attacks when she even thinks about her stalker (which she had for two days, by the way) to badass, standing up to powerful and dangerous men, in the span of less than a week.

Side Characters: The only side character we see more than two or three times is Tatum and he’s dull as dishwater. His only personality trait is that he can hack into things.

Plot/Story: This plot felt like I was reading a first draft. It was zero to one hundred with Sara(h)’s stalker - two things happened… it could have just been a creep. There was no build-up, no suspense, NOTHING. I also figured out who the stalker was, no joke, the moment we met him. There were no plot twists, .

Additionally, the characters did things that made no sense to simply further the ‘plot’. Sara(h) decides not to tell anyone who her stalker is… for what? Why? Because then they could catch him and it’d be over? If your story is that flimsy, fix it. She doesn’t even tell the detective who warned her that he was suspicious of him. Also, , hello?? Sara(h) has a ‘stalker’ for two days, two things happen, she runs away, and that same day she says she “cannot live like this much longer” as if she’s been going through this for a long time. I cannot emphasize enough how it was TWO FUCKING DAYS!!!

Random plot holes littered throughout the book. You can’t just get a phone in someone else’s name without an ID. Sara(h) talks about the police catching her stalker, but she hasn’t told anyone it was him. Sara(h) apparently knows nothing about the Society, but . Her stalker’s abilities are never explained, .

You know how people complain about “show versus tell” writing? I raise you, “stop spoon feeding me like a toddler” writing. Instead of showing us why we should be scared for Sara(h), why we should trust Garret, etc… it gets explained to us like we’re children. Her explaining why she should trust Garret feels like my mom explaining why it’s best we have to move in the middle of the school year. There is this random chick that we don’t even meet, we “speak” to her on the phone once and it’s like two sentences, .

The whole Society thing was incredibly uncreative… The Court, Kings, Knights, Pawns. It’s talked about like we’re in the past. Then we find out, of course, that The Court . Christ.

Romance: The entire romance happens because Sara(h) is a trusting idiot for zero reason. 86 pages in, they’ve spoken once, and she “might as well start trusting him”. Why??

Page 97: “Do you trust me?” “Yes.” SPARE ME.

She jumps into everything and talks about people like she’s known them forever. “He’s right, as usual.” You’ve known this man for one motherfucking day. And that’s just touching on it.

General: This is in desperate need of an editor. Riddled with mistakes, I found 65 and I wasn’t even looking (I made a note whenever I saw an error so blatant that I was pulled from the ‘story’.

Main Examples: Every other sentence starts with ‘I’, people saying something that they shouldn’t know, switching between “Sara” and “Sarah”, a lack of contractions (making the story seem clinical), constantly switching between past and present tense, quotation mark errors, grammatical errors, spelling errors, capitalization when it should be lowercase, lowercase when it should be capitalized, constant repetition (FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, I AM BEGGING YOU - pick up a thesaurus), etc, etc, etc.

0.5 stars because the cover is cool, and the author's passion is clear.

3.5 stars.

Sara discovers an AirTag on her car and is very nervous. She tries to shrug it off as a one-time thing, that she doesn’t actually have a stalker, but other things happen that lead her to believe that she does have a stalker. She turns to her neighbor for safety and he’s very helpful and accommodating…until she goes into his secret room.

When she runs, she’s kind of thrown into a whole new world. She’s actually from old money, and there are so many secrets she doesn’t know.

Garret is part of this secret society and he’s very protective of her. He’s really an anti-hero and an unaliver, but he just does what he has to do.

This book was pretty good and had an interesting storyline. Personally, I didn’t think it made much sense that Sara’s stalker was someone she knew and had occasional conversations with. It seemed like they were somewhat friends and then one day, he just started stalking her and went all-in after that. Maybe that’s how stalkers are? I don’t know, but it just didn’t make sense to me.

I liked the whole secret society concept, but Sara seemed to change instantly. By that I mean, she was really terrified of her stalker, and even running away didn’t lessen her fear. She was constantly on edge and worried about everyone around her. Then she had insta-love with Garrett and was totally into his…dark tendencies.

Anyway, I did still enjoy the story, and since it ended on a cliffhanger, I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.

*ARC REVIEW*

I enjoyed this story a lot. It was hard for me to connect with the FMC, Sara, at the beginning because I felt like she was too gullible and too blind to see the signs of who her sta!ker was which sometimes frustrated me. It was a bit predictable but I felt like the could just be the purpose of the author so we see Sara's character grow. Once we got to the second part of the book where she gets away and meets Garrett, things do get better. Sara develops a sense of confidence when she finds out the truth behind who she is and the role and power she has in society. Together, Garrett and Sara are a power couple not to be reckoned with and the way this story ends only made me want to read the next book.

This would be a great book for readers starting to read darker themes and I'm truly curious to see how this story ends.

Thank you to The Author Agency and Katie Perez for this ARC.

ARC Review

I saw the cover, I saw the title and then came the TWs and I was in! The beginning of this story reads quick and creepy, though very predictable. That is okay it got us were we needed to go. Once Sara (FMC) gets to where she feels she will be safe she’s thrown into a world where she is held in the highest regard. She takes everything she learns and just rolls with it. I like that. Garrett is the sexy neighbor, with a VERY DARK secret and even Darker Kink 🤣. Though I don’t share that particular one it was still entertaining.

I felt the Insta love was maybe a too insta, but to each their own. Like you’ve know each other for 5 secs and are already promised to be married. That’s a little ehhh for me. And the fact of how quick he was to show her his true self (see trigger warnings) that also made the pacing feel a tab off or rushed. Their were very entertaining parts and some parts the pacing felt wonky. Though I still enjoyed the ride and can’t wait for book 2.

Thank you @ The Author Agency for sending me an ARC!

So first off I did really enjoy the Stalker aspect of this story, I think this is the first romance I’ve read where the stalker isn’t actually the MMC but rather the bad guy we are NOT rooting for 😬.

Sara and Garrett make an unlikely team given the events that brought Sara to her Grandfathers estate, nevertheless Sara discovers a secret society she’s apparently a “Queen” of and a whole lot of information gets thrown her way in the matter of like 48 hours.

Ok the reason this book didn’t quite get 4 stars from me was the flip in which Sara takes from being this terrified girl on the run from her stalker with no previous history of anything criminal, to instantly being into blood play and will slit a guys throat with a scalpel…. I just feel like that flip was a biitttttt of a stretch 🤷🏻‍♀️

BUT I will be continuing this series cause that cliffhanger? Girl you had me reading to pitch my kindle cause I can’t wait that long to know what happened 🙃

All my favorite tropes in one crazy dark romance.

At first, I was confused why the st@lker was exposed so early, but it all makes sense as the story goes on.

Someone is after Sara. From the handprint on her bathroom mirror to someone accessing her personal information, she can no longer safe being alone. And she won’t be, thanks to her good looking neighbor, who seems to also like her more than just a neighbor.

All is great until she discovers a locked room full of things about her, and now she’s on the run. Run from her crazy stalker.

Here’s where she learns she’s just some girl who’s now hiding out in her grandfathers estate. No. She’s part of a society, one that’s kind of complexed honestly lol.

You’ll meet mister Garrett who’s yuummm

Ok excuse me 😮‍💨 this debut, y’all! Also, did I know I had a thing for masks?! Because I’m all in. 🙌🏻😈

I cannot get enough of Sara and Garret… this dark world that runs in their blood has consumed me!!!

Sara is on the run from her stalker and finds solace, protection and MUCH more in Garret and The Court.

“𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭? 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞.”

“𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐭.”

I have a feeling Sara is going to come out strong on this one 👑 and I’m so here for it!

I’m not usually one for a cliffhanger but honestly this one has me so excited for the next book to see what will happen!

Despite the grammar and punctuation mistakes (not a lot but not just one or two either) I really enjoyed this book !

I wish the story was a little more developed because going from 0 to 1000 in 200 pages is a lot and doesn't help connect to the characters.

But the ideas, the plot, the smut and the secret society setting are so worth 4 stars.

And damn this cliffhanger, I will definitely be reading the next book.

It was cute for a debut novel.
Its a bit rushed tho. And the stalker was to easily revealed! I knew who it was from the very first moment👀. I love the secret society vibes, I’m here for the Kings. Garrett is yummy🥵. But I couldn’t really connect with Sara. She actually annoyed me. Her personality was all over the place & she gave me would you love me if I was a worm vibes but at the same time she also tried to be a tough fmc. I felt like she couldn’t make up her mind.

But it was a lovely palette cleanser

So, I really enjoyed this book. I did feel like things moved a bit too quickly, and there was immediate character growth, which felt a bit forced. There are many spelling and grammar mistakes, which pulled me out of the story a few times. However, I did enjoy the plot and characters and look forward to reading the next book.

Good bones, needs an editor very badly. Many typos, punctuation errors, and tense errors on almost every page made this a very difficult read. Ends on a cliffhanger, I’m not gonna bother with the second book.

This is supposed to be a book about a normal woman who flees from one stalker only to fall in love with an even worse psychopath, becoming his dark counterpart, but the author lacks the skill to believably pull it off. For example, in the space of 30 minutes she went from not knowing the MMC This would be a lot for a vampire romance, let alone two humans. Not believable.

The kinks and play are so boring, it feels like the author just threw a bunch of stuff together to hit a checklist of popular tropes. There’s no soul whatsoever.

Thoughts:

Well damnn.. This is the first book I’ve read from this author Katie Perez and I must admit I was not disappointed. Sara has a stalker and she doesn’t realize how close the stalker is until it’s too late. She takes off to go back to a life she thought she knew only to find out that it’s not how she remembered it. That’s when she meets her own personal protecter Garret Maddox and learns where she truly came from and what the last name Aster means in this whole new world.

This was a really good book. I am a big fan of secret societies tropes and I ate this right on up. There was not that much spice in this book but to me the plot made up for it. Now let me warn you this does end on a cliff hanger and a big one so please be aware going into this.. Overall I would recommend reading this book.. Enjoy! 🖤

2⭐ and it makes me so sad rate this book low because the premise had so much potential but the execution was a complete miss

I love a stalker book and this one had the potential to be so fun and original given the ~secret society~ of it all, but we just.. didn't get that. instead, we got poorly paced character "growth", a secret society that is somehow super mega powerful but also able to be repeatedly outsmarted, side characters with no real personalities, and more typos than I know what to do with.

how a book gets by beta/ARC readers with this many glaring issues is beyond me. I won't include an editor in that statement because I doubt one actually looked at this book - there's just👏🏼no👏🏼way👏🏼
- random rogue commas and quotation marks that made reading dialogue/inner monologue stupidly difficult
- wildly inconsistent capitalizations
- words straight up missing from sentences (ex: "Garret and I make eye contact as we both peer through the masks, and even though his face is covered, I can tell he has a smile ear" )
- inconsistent spelling of the FMCs name: Sara vs. Sarah (this feels like something the author should know)

Garret (MMC) was just kinda there - he was fun but I definitely found myself hoping we'd add the hacker friend (Tatum) into the relationship just to add some excitement to the story

now onto the stalker (Nathan) - I'm not even mad that we immediately know he's the stalker, his identity was never supposed to be the main question of the story. honestly I think the suspense surrounding Nathan and how he would eventually get Sara back was the best executed part of this book. he was a constant shadow looming over the story and when he does eventually get Sara back, I could feel the devastation.

at the end of the day, I'm going to read book 2 and hope the issues I had with book 1 are at least kind of resolved

This is a very fast paced read. There is not too much build up, and not a lot of character development. Not to say I didn’t enjoy it, because I absolutely did.

Twists and turns, stalkers, murder, secret society - you get so much. After Sarah learns of who were stalker is and has to make a quick and sudden decision to flee, she seeks solace in the comfort of her late grandfathers home that she now owns.

Meeting the neighbor in a surprising way, she begins to learn more and more about her family, in particular her grandfather and what he was - which in turn, what makes her out to be. This new neighbor, Garret, and Sarah form a quick relationship that evolves in literally a matter of days. I guess more of an insta-love kind of deal, While there is no mention or love.

Despite what she has gone through, Sara is a very trusting person, even when she maybe shouldn’t be. Her demeanor even changes from one thing and then, bam - she is exploring this whole new side .. which perhaps, this is just something she never explored before, therefore being unsure she was exactly into that kind of thing. Very possible.

There is still a lot we don’t know in regards to Sara and her past, and what this secret society entails even deeper than what she has learned.

It does end on a cliffhanger, so I can’t wait for the next installment. So to say, while some instances went from 0/100 real quick, I enjoyed the plot very much. The story line with the twists and turns and still so much to learn is something that will definitely suck you in .

After finding an airtag on her car and a few other sketchy things it doesn’t take much for Sara to confirm she has a stalker. She turns to her friend and neighbor to lean on and feel safe until the detective starts questioning him and she discovers his secret room. She flees town running to her grandpa’s old estate where nobody will know her except her grandpa’s old associate. Jokes on her because the sexy mysterious neighbor find out who she is, and he knows all her family secrets. Garrett is part of the secret society her grandfather was a higher up in. She was raised and kept outside of it and all these secrets come to surface for her. He will stop at nothing to protect her not only for the society’s sake, but he is also a bit enamored with her immediately.

Okay so this was a debut for this author. I really enjoyed this book; it was an easy fast paced read and I can NOT wait for the second one. She is like a baby dark romance author, and I am here for it. 👏🏻👏🏻 I rated 3.5 stars only because I feel I missed some character development. I didn’t get a good visual for these characters. Also, Sara very quickly went from this terrified girl on the run to oh this is my kink and I want in on it (I won’t spoil what I mean here). It was a huge personality flip instantly vs her coming into overtime and thinking it might be something she could get on board with. BUT the spice 🌶️ HOLY HOT 🥵 While not a lot of it, the first spicy scene had me drooling. It will be a honor to watch this author grow in her writing career cause this was a banger of a debut!

My Thoughts

I loved this book!!! My first stalker storyline and it kept me on the edge of my seat!! Garrett!! I LOVE THIS MAN!!! The way he is protective of Sara and only having known her for a short amount of time 😍😍😍

OMG the spice in this book was so good!! Let's just say blood is involved and it was very 🔥🥵

I have to say I was sad it ended on a cliff-hanger but I cannot wait for part two!!! I need to know what happens ASAP!!!

Thank you to Katie and The Author Agency for kindly sending me this arc to read and review. This review is my own honest opinion on the book!

📖 Book Review 📖
Light It Up - Katie Perez

“Now that I’ve caught you, what do I get to do with you? “

What an incredible read! The author (Katie) instantly grabbed my interest within the first sentence, that interest didn’t dwindle at all throughout the whole book, I was on the edge on my seat waiting to see what would happen.

I think Sara (FMC) character development grew quite fast, that being said the book is pretty fast paced and I liked reading about her becoming a bit more “girl boss” and less damsel in distress. Garret (MMC) is everything I love, want and need in a love interest. His “touch her and I’ll kill you” protectiveness was exactly why I loved the book so much especially when its added with his softer more loving side.

Even though this is Katie’s first book and there were a couple spelling errors, I was absolutely enthralled reading all about her characters. Sara running away, the secret societies and of course my favourite part was devouring the spicy romance between the two main characters. 🔥

I think this book had amazing plot, not too much but just enough background information, spice and was in general a really great read! Be prepared if you’re going to read this because there is an INSANE cliffhanger!!! That being said I definitely recommend it and I cannot wait it read book 2.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Please be warned there are mature themes and many TWs, recommended reading age is 18+

Thankyou so much to the @theauthor.agency and @Katieperezauthor for the gifted ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is book one of a duet and it ends on a epic cliffhanger!!! Noooooo. I was so invested I didn't even realise I was coming to the end 😭.
Now book 2 needs to be coming asap.
This was pretty fast paced and very full on from the word go.
Very interesting story plot.
Sara has got a stalker and it's escalating. Good job her neighbour was there to help her 👀.
When things got very bad and she found her Stalker she was on the run. Only to stumble on to a whole secret society. It was a lot to take in but sooooo good. I don't want to give much away.
But trust me when I say it was really good. I really liked how Sara started to grow as a person and become stronger day by day because of Garret her new neighbour.
Sara discovers her unusual kink and both Garrets darkness and hers match to a T. I didn't know about this kink, it was a new one.
So please read triggers as there are things you may not like.
Garret was dark and ruthless but when came to Sara he was a sweet marshmallow until they get to bed that is haha. They have great chemistry and relationship.
But the Stalker is getting closer. Can Garret really keep his promise to never fail her and keep her safe?
That cliff hanger 🤐.
Excellent, fast paced, action, drama, gore, murders, blood, found family, emotions, love and hot spice. I need more now.

Quotes :

“Are you sure this is what you want? If you choose this, you are mine.”“I was yours the moment we met.”

“Baby, I don’t plan on ever sharing you. If anyone so much as touches you, I will hunt them down and kill them. You are for me alone.”

I very much enjoyed this book! The ending had me going nooooooo. Lol, yes, it ends on a cliffhanger. But slow your roll. It's still a really good book. If any of you follow my reviews, then you know my trend for choosing cliffhangers game is strong this month. Lol

I was pretty much hooked from the very beginning! It captured me and didn't let me go. Garrett and Sara built a relationship extremely quickly. There's nothing wrong with that. I am a sucker for insta love. So the next few reasons are why I didn't give it a 5 star.
What Sara went through before she met Garret had ne going whhhaaatttt??? Really???? She just was absolutely terrified with her stalker and was not in a good situation. Also, her going from shy/timid to being a total bad ass but having zero knowledge of this secret society was a tade far-fetched for me. It was not a deterant from this book. I didn't throw a tantrum, and cuss out thr author. These were just minor details that had me going hmmm okay. Lol, I wish we had a little more back story and maybe a little bit more development between the two characters or how she developed her type of kink. That's all. I can't wait for the 2nd half of this book for the conclusion 😀 it was good and definitely worth the read!!

I want to make sure you know I’m a bad guy. I do bad things, but for a purpose. I will never intentionally hurt you."

I knew, I knew this would end on a cliffhanger, since its a duet, but dammit I don't like it!

Sara finds quick comfort in her neighbor, Nathan, while she deals with a stalker. Suddenly, her life is flipped upside down as she puts the pieces together and discovers her nice neighbor is her stalker. She runs back to her grandfathers home for safety.

There, she finds a hot new neighbor, Garrett, with a dangerous job, that has the answers to questions about her family; and now her future. They bond quick and while he is dangerous, he is a big ole fluff ball for Sara, and will do everything he can to protect her.

“You’re such a good fcking girl, Sara. My good, fcking girl.”

It was a bit insta love between them, which isn't always my thing, but I felt like it worked for them. He carries guilt over the past and Sara is fighting to stay ahead of her stalker.

"The way she looks covered in blood and loving it, is the sexiest thing I could have ever imagined. Feeling her hands drenched in blood gripping onto me, had me about to lose it in my pants . Even thinking about it now had me hard again."

I'm sorry if this doesn't make much sense, but I feel like I can't divulge much, without spoiling things! I am hooked and need the next half to this story.

There is:

*Stalker/masks
*Primal play
*Blood
*Murder
*Secret Society

This book sucks you in! It is fast paced and immersive. It definitely doesn’t read like a debut novel. I devoured this book in two sittings.
I love a stalker romance and I love a romance with a stalker. This was one of those instances where our MMC is not our stalker. But, our savior/protector. Our ready to f* shit up and annihilate any threat to our FMC type of man. I love Garret. He gives strong Ryat Archer vibes that I am here for. Aka murderous psycho with possessive golden retriever energy.
“This man has enough charm to slit my wrists and then have me thank him.”

I would have liked a smidge more development for Sara. She didn’t take much convincing to get weird. Her entire personality takes a 180. There isn’t a lot of growth from the timid defenseless girl to the take no shit lets bang in a pool of blood woman she is towards the end.

That cliff hanger was a banger! I had a feeling it was coming. I cannot wait for the final installment in this duet.
"For every dark and depraved part of me there is a soft kind part. Like I told you yesterday, the harder we f*ck, the nicer I get to be. There's a balance."

3.5/5 stars ⭐️
I received this book as an ARC; I want to say thank you to the author and The Author Agency for sending this book to me.

I did enjoy this book and the cliffhanger is intense!

I love that Garret has the sweet but menacing balance. No matter what The Court needs him to do, he will do it. But when it comes to Sara, he will never hurt her and does everything in his power to keep her safe.

To me, there is nothing super special about Sara. I feel there is still a lot more we are to learn about her, but in this book I don’t feel any true depth or connection to her character.

The reason I gave it 3.5 stars is because I do feel that the connection between Sara and Garret was rushed. She flees her stalker and ends up trusting a complete stranger the next day. I would have liked more of a build up into the trust. I also felt that there could have been more detail the world and the characters. We know their names, some are Kings, and their relative expertise, but not much else. I want to learn more about The Court and the inner workings of it all. There are brief questions that Garret answered for Sara but nothing to give sustenance to how or why The Court is so powerful.

That being said, for this being a brand new author I felt that this was really good. I am excited to see what book two holds and how things turn out!

This has been my most anticipated book of the year! Let me tell you, I wasn’t disappointed!!

As soon as I read the blurb for this book I knew I needed to get my hands on it! I don’t know what it is about stalkers and masks but they have been some of my favorite reads lately.

Now the storyline for this was amazing. The set up with Sara and her stalker starting from the first page sets the whole pace for the book. It has you guessing who is who from the get go. And you cannot help but feel for Sara with having to go through all of this. But I loved seeing her come to the person she is. Love a good MFC finding her true self. She definitely wasn’t what I thought she was going to be and I am here for that!

Garret…let me just say that first meeting scene was perfection. It made me giggle, really I giggled a lot when it came to him with Sara. Needless to say I loved their chemistry and relationship right away. I don’t think there are two people more perfect for each other than these two.

But that ending…I am not going to say anything but it does need to be talked about after you read this book! I will be counting down the days til I can get my hands on the next book!!

"I promise you are safe with me. I promise I will do everything in my power to protect you from any danger that arises. I promise you will not fight alone; you just have to trust me."

In this book we meet Sara who lives alone in her apartment but starts to notice that someone may be watching her! Her neighbor comes to her rescue and starts to take her under his wing but little does she know he is the one watching her! After putting two and two together she ends up running away in the middle of the night to her grandfather's estate.

Her grandfather was part of a secret society and came from money. When she moves into the estate she notices her very attractive neighbor taking an interest in her. But can she trust him? She just ran from her other neighbor who ended up stalking her.

Her new neighbor Garret takes an interest and begins to help Sara. He tells her about the secret society and her role. There's more to the story than she ever knew. But now she may not have a choice but to trust Garett because her stalker is back and with a vengeance!

I don't want to give too much away but this book definitely had me saying WTF!? So many twists and turns that kept me reading to the end...THEN IT ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER! I need the second book ASAP!

Read this book if you like:
🔥Secret Society
🔥Damsel in Distress
🔥Anti-hero
🔥Touch her and die
🔥Stalker
