Are you ready to release the old so you can embrace the bold? It’s time to Burn. Your. Sh*t.
Rituals are routines infused with loving intention. The empowerment and unburdening they provide is immense and undeniable. Whether you’re releasing something (or someone) with a Full Moon ritual, elevating your morning skincare routine with a ceremony of self-love or celebrating a milestone moment, rituals can enrich—and even transform—your life.
Burn Your Sh*t guides readers to discover what is possible (and the work that needs to be done) with rituals to help them step into their potential and make their own magic.
Full Moons are an opportunity to let go of limiting beliefs, negative self-talk or any other bad mojo that’s hanging around. Crystals can promote healing and boost manifesting. Sacred geometry offers ancient wisdom to amplify ambitions. Sleeping on top of intentions can turn your life around.
You can easily customize rituals to meet you where you’re at in any given moment—from fuelling your body to finding your soulmate. With the right rituals, you can face challenges with clarity, connect to your inner wisdom and become the designer of your dreams.
I have 3 shout outs and 1 recommendation: ALINA-thank you for the gift of this book, you truly ARE such a generous human being. RINA-thank you for shining a light on Lori Dyan and all of her stylish, funky, sassy, passionate and magically delicious ways. LORI-thank you for writing this book specifically for me! For everyone else —- here is why I say this—-Page 120 she uses Scorpio as an example-Hello! That’s me! Then on page 128 she uses the example of July 2024, when I was literally reading it ON July 1st! And page 134 has my name! 🥹 #ILoveTarotLori RECOMMENDATION-read this book and take from it pieces that feel are a fit for you. This book is like a deep cleansing breath, with knowledge and information in. Release and fears out.

This was interesting. This is basically your typical occult book but with reference to science to prove the importance of ritual, although there's no bibliography so you're left looking up "2020 National Library of Medicine study" and other vague terms. There's not a lot of studies referenced other than in passing, so I guess there's no need for a bibliography but it would be nice.
Dyan's voice is casual and simple, this isn't going to sound like a scholarly article or be stuffed full of jargon. It did take me a bit to be comfortable with it, I'm not sure why the tone bothered me so much in the beginning.
She mentions other cultures and rituals around the world. It includes most things you'll find in any New Age or Witchcraft book: crystals, incense, moon phases, seasons, intention, rituals/spells. Dyan is just packaging is differently for it to be more easily consumed by the general public who shy away from the occult. I appreciate the twist, it's a true breath of fresh air into this genre.
It's best for people who are interested in rituals and ways you can incorporate them into daily life. You can benefit from simple or complex rituals without feeling uncomfortable or ashamed or whatever negative connotations you associate typical witchy books with. Try it out. Read some of the studies she mentions. I hope it brings you validation, confidence, and happiness.
I first came across Lori’s Instagram page by total accident. You know when you click on an Instagram add and the algorithm starts suggesting similar accounts? That is how I “met” Lori. And the timing could not be better. I haven’t touched my tarot cards in 20 years. I haven’t done a lot of me time in… well, 20 years. This book is a great introduction to rituals and manifesting, to simply find time for yourself and take care of loose ends from past and present experiences. It complements therapy so, so well!
I totally suggest getting into Lori’s mailing list too, she sends a bunch of suggestions and follow her online. This woman’s energy says it all. If she offered courses on tarot reading, I would be the first one signing up for it!
Super SASS witch (or as the author calls it "woo woo without the cuckoo) friendly take on rituals. Full of ideas to help you add a little more magic to your life. From simple Moon Mapping to how you start or end your day. I really enjoyed the author's voice and sense of humor.
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of releasing on the Full Moon - I prefer to use its celebratory energy and use the waning moon for letting go, but I'm a big fan of burning your shit.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has a ritual for every occasion. what I love most about this book was that you didn’t need elaborate pieces for your altar or a crystal for this or a crystal for that like other books have. I loved how she made the ritual simple and gave examples. Highly recommend
What a great read. Very informative, accessible - whether you do rituals or don’t know where to start- and just plain fun. I’ve been giving this as gifts to friends because I’ve enjoyed it so much.
Great Introduction to Rituals 101. Dyan is very approachable in her writing and her suggestions for practices. The instructions are very open ended because, as it turned out, you make the meaning in your routines. I learned some things and got some validation for some stuff I was already doing. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go buy some more crystals.
