‘These great trees of the mountains, I feel they know me well, as I watch them and listen to their secrets, happy to rest my head beneath their outstretched arms.’ A little girl climbs up a rambling old tree, picking its fruit, playing with the squirrels and birds that call it home, finally dozing off on its strongest, most comfortable branch as a gentle breeze plays through its leaves—pure bliss! How dull, dreary and dusty life can be without the verdant foliage of trees. In Great Trees I Have Known, experience the best of Ruskin Bond’s writing about trees, from the majestic deodars to the delicate willows. With a wide range of stories and essays on the idyllic and lush world of trees, this collection is a must-have for those who love nature and Bond’s writing alike.
It's classic Ruskin Bond. It's an anthology of older writings from his entire writing career. (Some of the essays are not even about trees! :D ) It's whimsical & very evocative of the nature... jungle, night, dawn, birdsong, distress of an animal, simple matters of ordinary human lives, rain, & great trees... But the writing, as always, varies between brilliant & meh!
