The first moment of peace. A second chance at life. That same desire to kill.
No matter how hard I try, some urges are harder to deny than others. As the darkness inside rages on, another part of me grows more demanding. I want desperately to let go of my past, but it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced. Who am I supposed to be if not a killer? Can I truly be a model citizen? A good friend? A perfect wife?
A new challenge, a serial killer the media has nicknamed The Artist, threatens to take all of that away from me. He’s cunning. He’s ruthless, and for the first time since my brother’s death, this killer is one step ahead of me.
In the shadows of the LVPD, I’m hot on his trail. The Artist stalks the city of lights for a reason, a tangled web I find myself and my coworkers trapped in, and I plan to make sure he never leaves..

This is book 2 in the saints and sinners trilogy, it picks up right where book 1 left off. I enjoyed getting more of Angela and Johnnys story, we also got more background into Angela’s life growing up. The banter in this book was top notch! There are a lot of great characters in this book. I think Stephen is my fav side character, he is just the sweetest! They are hot on the trail of finding a serial killer and things start to happen within the department and suspicions are raised! People aren’t who they seem and come to find out there is a mole in the dept. the twist in this story was shocking! Will Angela and Johnnys relationship be able to stand the test of time? Read this series to find out!
↬ review: 3.5 stars ☾ ❦ if the naturals and mindfck series had a baby, it would be exactly like this. lower rating because i disapprove of angela’s decisions.
I love this series. Adding the third book to my cart now! Both book one and two are page turners. I finished both in a matter of a couple of days. I just don’t want to put them down! I love the battle within herself. I love how bada** Angela is, and I am dying to know more about Nicole. Both books kept me on my toes, honestly the second one more than the first one. But both are so good. Piper has really done it with these and more bookish people need to get their hands on them!!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love how this book picks up right from where book one ends. Angela’s story continues with her work, her “other” work and her romance. If you’re looking for a thriller with some romance, suspense and a whole lot of “Dexter” like activities, then this is the series for you!!! I can’t wait to read book 3, which is the last book in this series to see where Angela’s story goes now. The end of book two was insanely awesome!!!!!
Not gonna lie...Angela made me mad in some parts of this one. But if she were written to be loved ALL the time, how realistic would that be? I do like that there seemed to be more interaction with her job this time. The main antagonist had a bigger role. And if I say anymore, I may end up with spoilers in this review. So I'll stop there. Honestly, I think I liked this one more than the 1st book and am excited to get started on book 3.
Under City Lights is an electrifying two-book series by Piper Leigh Ion that delves into the dark and intricate world of crime, vigilante justice, and the battle within oneself. Angela Wilkins, an assistant coroner haunted by personal tragedy, finds solace in her relentless pursuit of justice against heinous criminals. The first installment, "Saints and Sinners," unveils Angela's struggle with her vengeful desires and unexpected romantic connections amidst a backdrop of copycat killers and high-stakes crime scenes. The author masterfully weaves a web of suspense, leaving readers at the edge of their seats as Angela's two worlds collide.
In "Funeral of a Good Girl," the second book, Angela grapples with her darker urges, yearning for redemption and a chance at a different life. The Artist, a chilling serial killer, challenges her newfound desires for normalcy, pushing her skills and determination to their limits. Piper Leigh Ion skillfully portrays Angela's internal conflict, showcasing her evolution and unwavering dedication to justice. The suspenseful narrative keeps readers engaged, racing through the pages to uncover the truth.
Both novels immerse readers in the intense realm of vigilante justice and serial killers, offering a thrilling rollercoaster ride through the shadows of crime. Piper Leigh Ion's writing captivates with its authenticity, intricate plot twists, and complex characters, making Under City Lights a must-read for fans of the vigilante justice thriller genre. Get ready for an adrenaline-fueled journey through the darkest corners of the human psyche.
I had read a book by Piper Leigh Ion before and loved her style. Funeral of a good girl intrigued me because it had a little bit of everything I like to read. Dark romance, detective skills and humor. It was interesting how the humor was brought in. Reading Angela’s internal thoughts always made me chuckle. Angela is a mortician and works for the LVPD. They have a serial killer in the mist and Angela has made it one of her missions to try to get down to who is the serial killer known as the Artist. The way the dynamic between everyone in the precinct and Johnny her fiancée is written gives you such a great glimpse into everyone’s messy life. I laughed and got my heart broken just a little, but it was done in the best way. I can’t wait to read the third book in the series and quite honestly a big fan of Piper.
Book 2 in the Under the City Lights trilogy picks up with our feisty FMC Angela. She is grappling with her darkness while trying to maintain her relationship with Johnny.
Funny banter continues in the love-hate relationship with Henry, and a new budding friendship with Dara lets us see a different side to Angela.
A new serial killer, The Artist, hits her radar, and when her world comes crashing down, it all gets too much.
Witty banter, thrilling intrigue, new characters, and suspense. This is a brilliant follow-up, and I can't wait to see what happens next for my girl in the next book 😎
I enjoyed Funeral of a Good Girl quite a bit more than I did the first book, Saints and Sinners. Like I said before, if you love CSI, Dexter, that kind of thing, you will surely love these books. Funeral of a Good Girl picks up where Saints and Sinners left off, and it's definitely a lot more fast-paced and action packed than the first one. We get more answers, see relationships tank, some grow, and learn more about the characters at a deeper level. Angela is still my favorite; I love how she is snarky and don't take shit off anyone. I can't wait to read the next book. Piper may be one of my new go-to authors.
This book was insane in a good way. Such a page turner, such a thrilling ride and I enjoyed every minute of it! The characters are amazing, especially Angela and her side-kick Nicole. Angela wants to have a second chance at a normal life but she’s not able to control her desires. All throughout this book, I was happy, mad, excited and anxious to turn the page, and just when I thought all was good, bam, we are left on a cliffhanger. Highly recommend!.

Such a good follow up to Saints and Sinners ! The Author did the damn thing . I loved seeing more of Angela's moral battle . I liked her and another character 's relationship development as well. This was messy in the best way! That plot twist too! Definitely read exactly after Saints and Sinners !
What a thrilling ride. Love all the characters in this novel especially bad@$$ Angela Wilkins. This story had me not wanting to put the book down. Starting book 3 now, left me hanging at the end of this one!
This was such a fun read I would give it more of a 4.5 ⭐ the story is just getting better and better could not but this one down! Exited to see what the next book has in store for me! It has the thriller, romance, comedy when you need it!!!
It was good as far as thrillers, but I hate how Angela decided to sleep with Henry and leave Johnny. Unfortunately, I cannot read the third book if that’s who she ends up with .

My second trip with Angela Wilkins only solidified my love for this character. Just like the first book of this series, I could not figure out who the antagonist was until they were revealed.
