Anywhere for You by Alexis Noel Review

Anywhere for You by Alexis Noel is a cozy, small-town college romance that centers on Maci and James, lifelong friends and neighbors who are beginning their senior year at Birch Creek University. From the moment they meet, they know they will always share a place in each other’s lives, but neither expects friendship to grow into something deeper. James secretly fell for Maci long before she ever guessed, and as senior year unfolds with fall festivals, campus traditions, and tight-knit friend group events, the tension between what they feel and what they say becomes both sweet and aching. Told in dual points of view, this is a friends-to-lovers story that thoughtfully explores the delicate shifts in closeness when best friends begin to see each other as more than just comfort and routine.

From the very first pages, I felt like I was sitting on a crisp autumn afternoon with Maci and James, tasting pumpkin spice and hearing laughter bounce off the trees; Alexis Noel’s world-building of Birch Creek gave me that snug, comforting vibe that made every corn maze and bonfire feel like a memory worth savoring. I genuinely rooted for James, whose gentle patience and earnest care for Maci made me feel the slow burn of love without rushing it, and Maci’s thoughtful, meticulous nature made her fears and hopes feel so real and personal. I also loved how the author wove in real college-life concerns about internships, finances, and future plans alongside the emotional push-and-pull of falling for your best friend, which grounded the story in relatable stakes. While the pacing is smooth and cozy, I found myself wanting just a bit more depth in some moments of inner conflict so I could feel an even stronger pull into their emotional worlds, but that minor longing didn’t detract from how warm and tender this romance felt overall. In the end, this book made me smile more than once, gave me that fluttery, hopeful feeling of love discovered slowly, and reminded me why friends-to-lovers romances can be so richly satisfying.

Rating: 4 out of 5
Because the heartfelt chemistry and the cozy emotional world made this a joyously comforting read.

Got an e-ARC of this book!!

This was actually the perfect book to read on the first day of fall. I devoured this book. I am soooo obsessed with this book. I started it last night and could barely put it down to sleep and then read at every possible moment today.

Wow. It's so good. One of my fav reads of 2023!!! I don't know what it is, but I know I'm going to be thinking about this one for a while.

Maci and James are so sweet and I loved the dual
POV! I LOVED that there wasn’t a third-act breakup (sorry if that’s a spoiler, but I think it’s SO important to note!!!)! Made my heart so happy. I was really happy to be able to experience both sides and get to know James and Maci through their thoughts and perceptions of situations, but even with that I was making predictions about things and was still wrong (which I’m more than okay with, don’t want it to be too predictable!).

I feel like each of the characters were pretty well-developed. Daphne is a gem and I love her relationship with Maci and how she (and the whole Langley family) welcomed Maci in with open arms and basically adopted her into their family. Also, Chase?!! Hilarious. But wish he'd've been funny the whole time and not just find that out halfway through. But he’s so great. I do wish we’d’ve seen more of them both as like main-side-characters and gotten to know them both a bit more, but I get it.

ALSO, sweet little Deja!!! LOVE HER. Kind of niche, but she reminds me of Miles from Recess Therapy ahahah (he’s my fav kid from RT).

MINI SPOILER(ish?): loved the lil side romance story heheheh, I saw it coming from a mile away but was still SO excited about it at every turn. I just love love.

This book made me feel so good and cozy, really put me in the mood for the fall season. I am so excited and cannot wait for the next couple books in this series!!!

Best friends to lovers
He falls first
Small town
Meddling family friends

If you're looking for a heartwarming book with friends who are like family and lovable characters, this book is for you.

I absolutely loved the main characters, Maci and James – they're adorable. James falling in love first is wonderful to watch, as he tries to navigate his feelings and figure out how to tell Maci.

Maci is a wonderful character, and I totally related to her. And I can't forget about Daphne – I loved her so much.

I received an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. But all opinions are my own.

Thank you, Alexis Noel, for sending me this ARC.

This book has a cozy vibe – it's a great weekend read while you're sipping on a hot chocolate.

This book surprised me.

When I saw that this book was friends-to-lovers, I had an idea in my head of how it would go. Two friends would slowly realize throughout the course of the book that they really liked the way the other did certain things until suddenly “oh! Is this love? Is that what I’ve been feeling?“

That is not, in fact, how this book went. Instead, I was treated almost immediately upon opening the book to the fact that James is in love with Maci, has been in love with her for a long time, and has no idea how to tell her.

I enjoyed seeing the way this crush played out throughout this book and the way these two eventually get into a relationship. Because James and Maci have a close friend group, seeing the way the side characters stuck their noses into their business brought a lot of humor into the story. It seemed like everyone was rooting for these two to get together, even if they had a bit of difficulty figuring it out.

However, I found that the conflict in this book needed a bit of work. Because the book jumps straight into the plot, I found it difficult to care for these characters and their personal conflicts. Maci needs an internship that pays well enough that she can quit her current job. James wants to move away from his hometown (and his family’s influence). These are both details I know as fact, but there wasn’t enough in this book to let me get to know who the characters were outside of these conflicts and care whether or not they got what they wanted.

It’s very obvious that this author loves these characters and is passionate about telling their story, but that love doesn’t translate through the pages and into the reader.

Thank you to Alexis for sending me an e-arc of this book! 🫶

What a perfect time to read this sweet story and FALL in love with birch creek 🍂

The characters were developed to perfection, and the scene was set so fantastically I felt like I was watching it unfold as an actual movie while I read.

I LOVE friends to lovers stories, and I especially loved how different this one was from others I’ve read! While we still get the oh-so-heartbreakingly lovely pining, we get to spend more of the story with the couple than the classic they get together at the end framework. I love that we got to watch james and maci’s relationship develop and see it through highs and lows. While we’re watching a relationship grow we also get a glimpse into how both James and Maci are navigating the rest of their senior year of college and plans for beyond.

Another reason I loved this book- it was so lighthearted and felt so low stakes! I didn’t have to worry about feeling like I was going to have my heart broken or get annoyed with the characters. It overall was such a cute and cozy read that was perfect for getting in a fall mood! 🍁🍂🧡

i cannot tell you how much i adore this book. i genuinely smiled so much, which i rarely do while reading.

i had absolutely no complaints while reading this. the book flows smoothly and it’s fast paced—you could easily read this in a day. i fell in love with maci, james, daphne, and chase so fast. they’re the sweetest friend group ever! and maci and james had such a good relationship. finally one where they don’t constantly obsess with each other’s bodies and looks. their relationship is so wholesome and real. can we talk about the vibes?? oh my gosh…they’re perfect! i need this book on my shelf the moment it comes out.

and the teaser in the acknowledgments?? i would kill to see more books set in birch creek.

i promise you, you will not be disappointed when you read this book <3 (also, first review on goodreads 🤭)

Loved this book! It was the perfect fall read with fall festivals, corn mazes and food trucks. The main characters have been best friends since freshman year of college, but going into their senior year, things between them start to change. I loved seeing their relationship evolve, and really approved of their communication and the way they supported each other as friends. Their family and friend group was so fun, between the meddling and the family dinners. I highly recommend you grab your favorite fall drink and start reading Anywhere For You!

“My Maci” “My James”

Usually, I’m not the biggest fan of friends-to-lovers, but this book really surprised me. It was so easy to fall into the story and I finished it in 2 sittings. There was conflict but no third-act breakup, which I love. And even though there was pining and one character was in love at the beginning, it didn’t feel rushed or too drawn out either. This pulled me out of a major reading slump and is perfect for anyone looking for a cute, quick, small town romance.

Thank you Alexis Noel for the E-Arc, I really loved reading about Maci and James and can’t wait to continue reading about Birch Creek!

The queen of sweet romance, Alexis Noel had one it again.

Anywhere for you is a sweet college romance set in the small town of Birch Creek. Lovable characters, friends to lovers, fantastic pacing, and enough romance to keep you giggling and kicking your feet.

I can’t explain how much I loved Maci and James and their story. Their friend group, the bonfires and pumpkins. This is your perfect sweet fall read.

I received an e-ARC of this book to review.

This book was the PERFECT intro to fall story. It was cozy, it was low-stakes, and you fell in love with the main characters Maci and James. I think one of my favorite things about it, was the characters were RELATABLE. They were finishing up college, dealing with very real situations like finances, long-distance, family dynamics, etc. which honestly made me love this book even more.

I honestly hope I can continue to be on the ARC team for future books in this series, as I'm invested now to see what happens next in Birch Creek.

Definitely recommend when this book comes out October 20th.

Left me wanting more...

Maci and James are best friends. Shes studying engineering at Birch Creek University, having worked hard to get scholarships to afford the tuition and her rent across the country from her family. He is at BCU as well studying education, wanting to be an elementary school teacher, but struggling with wanting to leave his small town where everyone knows everyone.

Set at the beginning of their senior year, James knows he needs to tell Maci about his feelings for her. Through unfortunate events, Maci finds out from others about how James feels, sending her spiraling that the last year or so has been a lie in their friendship. Struggling to decide how she feels, she ices him out, straining their friendship. Eventually, they begin dating, where he again acts like a sill college boy, going behind her back to try and remedy a situation for her, causing her to feel lied to again. In the end, they work it out, deciding to keep their relationship going post-college even with distance being a guarantee.

Overall, this was a cute story. Maci and James are well-thought-out characters, each with their own relatable flaws. I loved the community feeling you got from James' large family, as that is a huge part of my life as well. My biggest critique of this book was how it all just suddenly...ended. Like, okay we will stay together yay. I wanted more! Wanted to see how they deal with the distance or life post-grad. Hoping for a sequel, even though the series looks to be moving on to the next couple. All in all, a cute quick cozy fall romance read!

Maci is a chronic overthinker, and an aspiring engineer who meticulously plans ever aspect of her life. She always with struggled understanding where she fit into people's lives, and that became a bigger issue when she moved across the country to attend Birch Creek University. Now on her own, she has to navigate life, and find her people. That's all until she met James.

James, who's basically a Kennedy(his words not mine🤭) his family practically runs Birch Creek. But his world soon changes once he meets Maci. Since the very moment they met James and Maci knew they'd be apart of each other's lives forever, friends at least...Because anything else would totally be crazy right!?

With their senior year at Birch Creek University approaching, there's a hope for change on the horizon. They both know that no matter what happens they'll always have each other. When you share everything with each other, what could possibly come between y'all?

And what you don't tell each other everything? And will one secret change the course of your relationship?

This story has to be the most perfect example of the friends to lovers trope because it was done so well sans all the frustrating parts that typically comes with it! The characters were all so relatable. Between their growth, communication, and the imperfections of the characters; no matter what mistakes they made they fought for each other and their relationship. This book was honestly so sweet and I enjoyed every minute of the story.

- Thoughts on Anywhere For You -
Do you love Gilmore Girls? If you do - run to get this book that released today! It’s got the small town, school minded FMC, meddling friends and family, everyone knows everyone, and just that fall vibe going for it.

Honestly, this is just the perfect fall read of friends to lovers. There’s some forced proximity since they’re neighbors and also best friends cousin tropes. James gives off some of the vibes of later seasons Jess from Gilmore Girls - in the way that he knows Maci. Picture the scene of Jess telling Rory how he knows her and how it’s not like her to drop out of Yale.

One thing I really liked about this book is there was no third act break up. There are some issues that arise naturally, but there’s no instant break up. At the main issue, Maci decides she needs space but what I LOVED is that later in she says, “Space is overrated. I want to talk this out with you.” And I am just a sucker for books promoting good communication in relationships.
Maci is naturally a worrier and over-thinker and James is just so, so patient and supportive.
There was a quote from Brynn, one of Maci’s friends, “Love is scary,” …. “But it’s worth it. Trust me.” - and I think this is a major theme of this book. Yes, love is scary and hard but the reward of risking for it is so worth it.
Watching these two make it to the point of “I’ll go anywhere for you,” was just *chefs kiss* 🤌🏼

What you can expect:
🍂 forced proximity
👨🏻‍🏫 best friends cousin
🍂 small town
👨🏻‍🏫 he falls first
🍂 big family

James and Maci knew they'd be a part of each other's lives forever - as friends, of course. Their senior year at Birch Creek University begins with the promise of changes on the horizon, but at least they know they'll always have each other. Except what if one of them is hiding a secret? And what if that secret has the power to change everything?

ANYWHERE FOR YOU is a cute friends to lovers romance set at Birch Creek University. It's got serious fall vibes (my favourite) with school starts, corn mazes, and fall festivals. It's told in alternating dual POV, sharing between Maci and James' perspectives.

The pacing of ANYWHERE FOR YOU is smooth and flows nicely. I absolutely adored each character we are introduced to along the way, making notable mentions of Daphne and Chase. The foursome have a great friendship dynamic and I loved the antics shared between them. The romance angle is handled neatly and I thought it was so sweet how it was uncovered. The communication and relationship shared between Maci and James felt authentic, wholesome, and realistic. Of note, I absolutely adored that the spice is kept off page (wouldn't have been a deal breaker if it wasn't), making me cherish this story just a little bit more.

There's a "twist" that's revealed at the end that I absolutely loved (though I saw it a mile away, read: at the very beginning of the story). I am hopeful to see more books set in Birch Creek that may play off this twist!

I would like to thank the author, Alexis Noel, of this advanced digital copy for the opportunity to read this novel in exchange for an honest review! All opinions shared are my own.

Arc Review | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

This book was so cute and a perfectly cozy fall read! This is a freinds to lovers with him falling first and hard! A college romance set during this group of friends/found families final semester. From page one I felt like an active member of this friends group and found myself rooting for the characters and their relationships. There was an incredible amount of funny banter between all the characters that made me laugh out loud multiple times! James is Maci’s biggest cheerleader and only wants the best for her. Swoon! Such a fun easy read that I happened to read in one sitting! The only thing I wish was that there was an epilogue because I wanted more Maci & James! ❤️

Favorite quotes;

“My brain always runs seventy-five different tabs at the same time. Some-times, I slip between them without realizing it.” - Maci (I relate to this so much ) 🤣

"You said you're not going anywhere, but how do you know? What if this—" she gestures between us "doesn't work? How can you promise that? Because I can't lose you. You're my best friend. You're my home, James. I can't picture a future without you in it. Our friendship works. We know it works, so why change that?
Why risk it?" - Maci

"You're so wildly independent, and it's one of the things I love most about you” - James

Put your pj's on, grab a snuggly blanket, and dive into this sweet read that is full of love and fall vibes! I enjoyed watching the relationship between Maci & James unfold from both their POVs as they navigate Senior year at BCU.

Unlike her friends, Maci is putting herself through college. She is a planner at heart and we see the poor girl worry across the pages as she struggles to secure the final piece of her requirements. Her BFF Daphne, Chase (also part of the fab four), and the entire town famous Langley family, have taken her in as their own. And she absolutely lives for their weekly and seasonal traditions.

How fun would college life be to have your cousin and bestie across the hall? Especially when one of them makes the best pecan waffles!

Add to your TBR if you love an easy flowing read with relatable characters! Baby spoiler…..a cute little 6 year old will make your heart melt!

Thank you Alexis for this eARC in exchange for my review! I can’t wait for next book in the series. I’m hoping that we get more of Daphne, Chase, and the rest of the supporting characters!!😉

I had the honor of receiving an e-ARC of this story; and for my first ARC, it did not disappoint.

This is a cute and cozy friends to lovers story. Set in a University with a small town and really close-knit family, type vibes.

James comes from a close-knit and affluent family and his dad is trying to keep him in town when he wants to leave once he graduates.
Maci comes from a family who lives across the country from university and she has to penny pinch to pay for her college and hoping to land a paid internship.

Maci and James have been best friends since freshman year, along with both their roommates (Daphne & Chase). The tight foursome do everything together, even race through corn mazes, go to family functions, and fundraisers together. As the school year progresses, friendships start to change.

This was a really cute read and recommend if you’re looking for a fun, fall type vibe romance.

This was such a cute and cozy book! I love a low angst, easy to read, heartwarming book and this was definitely it! I loved the character development for both the main characters and that there wasn't a 3rd act break up. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and I also enjoyed the interactions with the whole friend group/James extended family and cousins. I loved how James was so sure about his feelings for Maci and then he waited for her to realize she felt the same. It was great that we got to see their relationship for a good part of the 2nd half of the book - I always hate when a book takes forever to get the main couple together and then it ends. This showed them in a healthy relationship with great communication, overcoming the conflict of the plot and the ending was so satisfying and well done!

I highly recommend this book!

OUT OCTOBER 20🫶🏼🍂🎃🧡💛
Best way to break in the cooling weather!
Such a beautiful story that will make warm & cozy. 🍂🥰
James & Maci are the cutest!
Watching their growth & how they develop as a couple just gives you butterflies that’ll have you kicking your feet in the air. 🦋

Maci is such a strong independent woman who can be extremely stubborn & will not ask for help when needed. Wants to get earn everything on her own account. Her character's growth is something anyone can relate to. 👩🏽‍💻🎃

James… ahhh such a sweet boy that fell in love with his best friend & was too afraid to lose her to do anything about it. His strong desire to leave the small town he grew up in that has a heavy family influence has him feeling like he needs to get away to earn his way. 🧇🍂

I am so thank ful that I was able to recieve this ARC!!! This was actually such a cute read. Maci avoids her feeling for her best friend's cousin (also her best friend), James. James is trying to work up the courage to confess his feeling for is best friend, Maci. Maci is trying to get an internship that pays but is having troube with that. JAMES IS A FIRST GRADE INTERN TEACHER!!!!!! I loved that so much! Seeing him interact with the little kids was so cute. This book was fast paced, fun, and so cute. The only thing that annoyed me was that maci and Daphne (her best friend) were made at James for "lying" to them, but he was literally in love with his bestfriend, he can't just go telling everyone. But other than that it was so good!!!!

‘Anywhere for You’ by Alexis Noel is the perfect book for a nice cozy day. Curl up on the couch with a drink and a fuzzy blanket and prepare to devour this adorable romance book!

I was excited to read this book after seeing the tropes that the author shared on Instagram.
Tropes: Friends to Lovers, FMC is in STEM, MMC falls first, meddling friends, found family.

This is a very quick read and can be enjoyed over a weekend!

What I enjoyed:
• The friendships *hearts* I loved all the characters and was invested from the beginning. I cannot wait to read more from the Birch Creek University world.
• The cozy and fall vibes. This is the perfect book to cuddle up on the couch with this fall or winter!
• The disagreements that the main characters had were relatable.

You should pick up this book if:
• You love sitcoms, like: Gilmore Girls and Friends
• You love the ‘friends to lovers’ trope.
• You enjoy quick reads.

Thank you Alexis Noel, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I enjoyed the ease of this book and being able to pick it up and read a couple of pages here and there. It didn’t take any effort to be able to fall back into the story. The characters are super relatable and it is a really beautiful story.

I have it three stars because although it was an easy read I do think for what I am used to reading it lacked a bit of depth. The book kicks off with James having had a crush on Maci for a year, I would’ve loved to see his point of view whilst this was happening. Maci finds this out very early on in the book so the rest of the book was super fast paced after that.

I do recommend anyone who loves romance to definitely read this book as it would be great to get you out of a slump or if you want a quick read.

🍂🤎 Arc Reader Here 🤎🍂

I absolutely adored reading Anywhere For You! It was such a fun and cute little moment. Who doesn't love a good friends to lovers? I don't trust someone if they say they don't.

Maci and James had such a cute relationship, but it was one that worked through real problems and wasn't always all fluff. It seemed real. With the way the characters were written you can't help but feel like you're apart of the friend group too.

If you're looking for a fun book to read with some fall themes! This is definitely the one. The cute little fall-ish dates and activities they did were making me wish I was there with them.

Definitely give this book a read! It's worth it!

Thanks again for the arc copy!

Anywhere For You: college seniors Maci and James have been friends and neighbors since they started at Birch Creek University three years ago. They’ve always been close, but a year ago James realized he liked Maci as more than a friend. If he can bring himself to tell her, can they have a shot at real love?

New adult is not my favorite. But I love Alexis Noel, so I knew I had to give AFY a chance. Her writing is so wonderful, her characters so complex, the emotions so true! So, of course, AFY was amazing, I think because Maci and James are the exact age they are. Neither is worried about being alone forever, which crops up in too many new adult romances and is very frustrating. The whole thing felt so accurate to how actual college students would behave. Their concerns were of their own present and very near future. No one was trying to have their whole lives mapped out. Instead, AFY was a sweet little romance about two nice kids just trying to make it through senior year and then see what happens. I hope we get updates about them in the rest of the series. Oh! And we got to see Brynn from the When You Walk Away books!

Thank you to Alexis Noel and LibraryThing for the ARC!

I absolutely loved reading this book! Alexis did such a great job developing the interactions between the characters and overall plot. I enjoyed the dual POV, and friendly banter throughout.

Alexis sets this story during the Fall in a small town called Birch Creek. It follows the lives of Maci, James, Daphne, and Chase while they’re navigating college life, future plans, and budding relationships. This book gave me major Gilmore Girl vibes, which Alexis references throughout the book such as pro/con lists, first snow of the season, small town.

I also enjoyed how Alexis kept the spice off the page while staying true the RomCom feel.

Highly recommend!

I got an eARC of this book, and I am so happy that I had the chance to read it. Anywhere for You was so well written, and the romance between James and Maci filled my heart with so much joy. It was such a sweet and clean romance, and the kissing scenes were to die for. The banter between James and Maci was so well written. I also LOVED how well all of the characters were written and how they all interacted with each other. I wish I could read this book again and again for the first time and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a new autumn romance.

this was such a sweet friends to lovers romance, I absolutely loved their friend group! James was such a sweetheart with the biggest heart, all he wanted was for Maci to be happy and have all the things she deserved. even if he didn't go about it in the best way, he was always looking out for her even when she tried doing everything on her own, never accepting help. I loved how the conflict was handled, the healthy communication was exactly what was need, especially in their situation! this was a fun, easy read and I cannot wait for more!
