Warriors of Luxiria #8

The Alien's Claim

Rate this book
The final book of the Warriors of Luxiria series is here…

Welcome to Luxiria, where the twin suns are hot and the alien warriors are hotter…

Erin likes control and order. She's the person who remains calm in any situation—like getting abducted by aliens. Or living among frightening, hunky, battle-bred alien warriors called Luxirians. Or getting stolen in the middle of her bath by a strange, devastatingly handsome male with blue tattoos who thinks she's his mate.

As the Prime Leader's only brother and a descendant of the royal bloodline, Jaxor'an had a bright future ahead. Until he threw it all away, driven by grief and anger, and disappeared into the wild lands of Luxiria without a trace. Now, ten years later, he's returned to steal away human females that will grant him the revenge he's sought for so long. Only, he never expected that one of the females would be his fated mate, with her tempting curves and glittering eyes that promise a sweet revenge of her own.

Erin always wanted a knight in shining armor. Instead, she got Jaxor'an—a half-mad cold brute in a loincloth.

How could this possibly end well?

Feral mate!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💖
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😠😚😁☺️
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Duet Narration

The heroine: Erin - on Earth, she was a teacher and a big sister, but that was before. Now she was a human female that got stolen from Earth, rescued and ended up in the golden city along with several other human women, most of which are now mated to the warriors of Luxiria. She found herself wanting a mate like they had found, someone who would love her and treat her like those warriors treated their mates.

The Hero: Jaxor’an - he is brother to the Prime leader of Luxiria. However, he left the Golden City ten years ago and has lived on his own in the wilds of the planet. When he first went away he was grieving his mother’s death and the loss of the women of his planet. He wanted revenge and since then has gone a bit crazy. He was working with the Mevirax and stole one of the human women to give to them, though when he found she was his mate, he decided to keep her for himself.

The Story: Jaxor was a bit crazy and had a lot going on in his mind. He was very grumpy and growly at first and didn’t give Erin much information on where he was taking her or his motives for anything he was doing. She just wanted a mate who would protect and care for her, but she got one who treated her with barely disguised anger and resentment. Not only that, but his home was in a dangerous place in the middle of the jungle and surrounded by creatures.

Of course, Erin wanted to escape as soon as an opportunity opened up and the Mevirax still wanted her. Jaxor was supposed to deliver her to them in order to get revenge for his mothers death and get the cure to help his people. It was what he was working for all those years. I read the first book in this series, quite a while ago and never read any of the others, so I felt at times like I was missing part of the story. However, it was still good. I definitely liked these two characters.

This book was told in dual points of view via duet narration, and was narrated by Sierra Grace and Tristan Josiah. I liked both narrators, Sierra has a clear yet feminine voice and Tristan does a great job and has a pleasant voice. I love the fact that this was duet narration. I ended up purchasing more of this series and hope they are the same.

Bianca is better than me because I would’ve resented every single person there for delaying my trip home.

Jaxor’an had a plan, and finding his fated mate did not fit into that plan. When Erin is captured by Jaxor, she knows that she can eventually convince him to release her by using his newly-awakened Instinct against him. What she didn’t expect was to fall for him in the process.

The Alien’s Claim gripped my right from the beginning. Every single other man in this series has been DOWN for his girl, but not Jaxor. Having him fight his Instinct was so refreshing. For the angst to come from him rather than Erin was a welcome deviation from the series. He had a goal outside of the romance, and it added to the story.

Jaxor is growly and angry and rude. He had a lot to redeem himself for, and while I wish he had groveled a bit harder, he did what was best for Erin. Rather than trying to take on a group of people alone, he got help, even though it was the hardest thing he had to do.

Erin was so clever, and I admired her tenacity. For the most part, she was perceptive, and she was able to get herself out of sketchy situations by quick-thinking. If we hadn’t had Jaxor’s POV, I would’ve thought he betrayed her too, so I don’t blame her for the indecisiveness at the end.

This book suffered from bearing the responsibility of being the last in the series. The Luxirian, Mevirax, and Jetutian conflict was so rushed that it felt unimportant. It was hard to imagine why this hadn’t been dealt with ages ago. There was nothing to stop the Jetutians from going back to get more humans. Sure they killed the leader, but there’s still more of them out there. Aside from rescuing a few humans from the pit, they did nothing to dismantle it, so the closure we got didn’t even feel all that closed.

This wasn’t my favorite of the series (that title belongs to The Alien's Lover), but it was easily the second best. One thing I know for certain: I am sad to say goodbye to Luxiria.

Un final redondo para mis luxirianos favoritos!

The alien's claim de Zoey Draven libro 8 serie Warriors of Luxiria

No quería renunciar a ella.

The last book did not overly impress me but I was eager to finally see this series come to a conclusion. I'm still confused as to how I'm supposed to believe Bianca took off in the spaceship to return to Earth and everything went smooth when she got there. But I digress as that was only a small part of the book and in fact this was Emma's story which continues after she and Crystal were stolen from the Golden City in the last book. Stolen for a trade to an enemy clan, Erin is beyond lucky Jaxor'an is her mate because almost instantly the hero's instinct comes to life making him question his role in saving his people and what he must do to ensure victory. The Luxurian race has suffered with the loss of their females and fertility. Jaxor'an wants revenge for his people and the death of his mother as well as the cure, stealing and turning over a few humans is easily worth the risk.
The chemistry between the two was a bit topsy turvy with a lot of push and pull. For a while the two are basically enemies and Erin not only wants to escape she wants to return home to Earth and her family, a mate will only stand in the way of that. Especially an exiled mate who is crass with her and willing to trade her to an enemy. I think I just expected more of an explosive end to the series and that really doesn't happen. Sure in the end they get their HEA and Jaxor'an is welcomed back by his people with open arms but it was all just a bit anticlimactic.

Best read series in order.
In book 7 two women are taken, Crystal and Erin.
Crystal has her story in that book and this book is Erin's.
The Hero is more of an anti Hero.
He is a bit wild and has left the circle of the Golden City.
He has not taken Erin to be his mate he has another agenda.
Push/pull.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
No other woman or man drama.
Secondary characters from previous books in series.
Conclusion of the series.
HEA.

Not a satisfying conclusion. The “hero” of this long-ass book kidnaps the heroine, is cold and cruel and spends FIFTY-SIX PERCENT of the book planning to sell her into the sex trade. It kind of undid all of the fated mate stuff the author had built up in the previous 7 books. A hero willing to traffic his soulmate? Ruined not only this story, but the whole series.

Quick(ish) Review

One of the best in the series, this was a very good way to wrap up a series on a hopeful note for all characters, not just the main couples. I thought Erin and Jaxor’s romance had a good balance of the elements I’ve come to enjoy from this series with a bit more angst and a satisfying conclusion to the overarching storyline. And I truly appreciate an author who has a story to tell and knows when it’s complete. I enjoyed this series as a whole and would recommend for those who like bit of alien sci-fi in their romance.

This series pisses me off to no end but it's just a me thing, some people like this and it adds this weird fantasy light heartedness to a premise that would be super dark without it.

I hate when in a series where there's a power imbalance, the author acts like it's not REALLY a power imbalance bc she has power over him bc he luuuuuuuuvvveeees her

Multiple times throughout this book the heroine goes 'oh, if he wanted to I could never go home and see my family or my friends or live a normal life he could keep me in this cave forever and there's nothing I could do about it' which is very obviously a huge imbalance of power. One of the people in this situation is at a disadvantage.

But then it's immediately followed up by 'see he's not a bad guy, his girlfriend cheated on him once and his feeling r hurt, and he loves her sooooo much that she could break his heart in a second and he'd diiiieeeeee'
Conclusion: see they're on equal footing bc they're bOtH BrOKeN

No they aren't. That's not how it works. They aren't on equal footing just because he LOVES her.

This was perhaps my favorite story of the series. I truly enjoyed the story and the characters. The author did a great job balancing the romance, the sexy time and the conflict. I highly recommend the whole series.

4.5 ⭐

I knew from the beginning that this would be one of my favorites from the series. Erin and Jaxor were steamy, angsty, tension-filled excellence.

This wasn't so much an enemies to lovers situation, as more of a mutual hatred of their circumstances and fated matehood to slowly letting their guards down and falling in love anyways type of story. (I'm such a sucker for the I hate you so much but I need to kiss you like I need oxygen in my lungs vibes.)

Erin is the level-headed "mom" of this group of women- it's the role she always played. But Jaxor is wild and untamed, especially after being alone in the wilderness for 10 years. He brings out a fire in Erin that she doesn't understand. She doesn't want to feel anything for this unhinged male who actually sees her for who she really is because he is nothing like what she has come to expect from a fated mate.

And Jaxor is at a loss because the moment he sees Erin, his entire plan has come to a crashing halt. He wasn't supposed to find his fated mated in this human and now he is struggling to stay focused on his revenge plan that is 10 years in the making.

DRAMA! I loved their story and how the series concluded. Happy endings for everyone :)

It was such a pleasure to read this series and see how Zoey Draven has progressed as an author- even just from the 1st book to this final installment. And this final book really emphasized her growth and how it translated into her Horde Kings of Dakkar series. (which, again, is one of my favorite series)

Highly recommend!

My number one requirement when reading a book is for the author to convince me of the characters, their motivations, their behaviors, and their character and relationship development. This story did not succeed for me and I say that as a huge Zoey Draven fan.

The author uses a fated mate bond to justify and dismiss abhorrent behavior. The MMC abducts two women for the purpose of trading them to a separatist cult only a wrench is thrown in his plan when one of them turns out to be his fated mate.

Even after realizing they’re fated he still intends to trade her to aliens who will force a fate worse than death upon her. Therein lies the problem I have with the story: the premise was never going to work because there’s no way to redeem him. The only reason he doesn’t hand her over is because she’s his and then he’s wishy washy in how he “struggles” with it that the author never convinces me that he wouldn’t have done it.

His reasoning for his actions is also quite selfish. Which is interesting as the character believes himself to be selfish for considering keeping her when really his intent is more about settling a score and getting revenge at their enemy while also trying to redeem himself for his perceived betrayal of leaving his people when he disserts them. I love messy, complex stories where morality can get very gray or even questionable. But no amount of groveling can make up for what the end result would have been for the FMC had he handed her over. There’s really no forgiving his intent. I definitely would have felt differently if he had immediately realized it wasn’t something he could not do. But the waffling on his part was a deal breaker. Especially considering all the set up for how sacred the fated mate bond is.

I will say the very last chapter nicely wraps up the series with the remaining human woman finally getting to leave for earth and return to her family. The goodbye to their friend coupled with grief for what they’re losing—earth and family—is emotional and quite moving in its simplicity but there’s also joy for what they’ve gained.

3/5 ⭐️s
2/5 🌶️s

I’m less than impressed with this couple, and we got a lot of plot shoved into a few chapters that should’ve been fleshed out over multiple books. This wasn’t the series finale I wanted, and Erin and Jaxor just hinted at good ideas without ever really landing on them (Seriously, she has dark kinks that we never get? Boo.)

Erin herself got to be a little annoying at times too. The number of times she says “I’m sorry” to Jaxor for literally doing nothing was just embarrassing. Idk I just didn’t like these characters much. 🤷‍♀️

Jaxor's Heart💘

ADULT Alpha Alien 👽 Male Romance💕 and Adventure with Abduction.
Jaxor'an🍆⛲💪🔪🔫 steals human women💃 as part of his revenge plot against his brother, Vaxa'an, The Prime Leader👑 on Luxiria, the planet of twin suns🌞🌞. Ten years he has waited to get his revenge.

He steals human woman Erin💃💋, right out from under his brothers nose.
It turns out Erin💃💋 is his fated mate, but the pairing is anything but simple. Erin💃💋 doesn't do easy! She fights the fated bond all the way!

ARC Provided by Prolific Works📚
I also got this ebook with KU.

Parts of this final book in the series are absolutely heartbreaking 💔. Jaxor🐺🍆⛲💪🔪🔫 has his own compelling reasons for lying to Erin💃💋 about his motives. He puts her in mortal danger💀 because of his ruthless obsession for revenge.

The book is long for this genre, but since it is the last book in this series, the ending is bittersweet💔💕 and drawn out.

3.5 - 4 stars

The Alien's Claim is the eighth book in the Warriors of Luxiria series. It is a quick read with lots of steam and spice. I don't mind reading these books, alpha, aliens, human, fated mates, insta love tropes, because they are sci-fi, and anything goes.

This is Erin and Jaxor'an’s story, with a strong, grumpy royal warrior, and action, which is a nice distraction from normal life for a few hours, especially if it is Zoey Draven. Her writing style is easy and inviting.

Re-reading this series again because apparently I didn't leave a review the first time.

These books just got better with each one. Every time I thought I'd found my favorite pair, the next book said 'bet - cool story bruh'.

I was the most apprehensive about starting this book because I was on such a high, all I could do was dread that I was going to be let down - miserably.

WRONG! This is the only 5 star I gave in the series and totes deserved. This book honestly felt like more. Just more.

Closes out a solid alien romance series with a chef's kiss.

I really like this author and have enjoyed reading this series, so I was looking forward to this one.

I really liked Erin. I feel like she operated in a way that I understood. I also liked how this one had a completely different vibe to the others. Erin knew she was his mate, they both knew and neither were on denial - I liked that.

This one was pretty long, but I enjoyed it. Have enjoyed the entire series. Looking forward to more work from this author.

Again

Again I am faced with a main character that I don't like. I can't excuse some of her behaviors and choices. I don't want to give any spoilers, I hate those, but her wishy-washy behavior in the last few chapters made me grind my teeth. Grow a pair, missy. You are supposed to love your mate but you hurt him. Argh!

Unfortunately, the last book of the series is also the weakest of them.

Jaxor and Erin were both dummies. Their relationship was just frustrating and unpleasant and boring.

Still, it was a nice conclusion to whole overarching plot of the series.

A Bittersweet Ending to a Great Series

Zoey Draven has quickly become one of my favorite authors. From the Horde Kings of Dakkar series, to the Brides of the Kylorr series, and now the Warriors of Luxiria series, Zoey never seems to disappoint me.

It’s fascinating to watch the world building throughout the 8 books. Each book brought their own unique conflicts from going through the ups and downs of cancer to self forgiveness. However, though each book dealt with different topics, they all ended with the same conclusion - love and self kindness.

You know, everyone belittles steamy adult romances as being trashy or beneath other genres. But I believe that these books dive into topics that can resonate with just about anyone. Most, if not all, of these books explore themes of self love, acceptance, and compassion, forgiveness, living in the moment, and taking control of the things you want from your life.

Now onto the actual book. Though I do not have too much to say besides it has to be one of my favorite in the series. I was curious to see how Jaxor’s betrayal and sins would be dealt with when he returned to the Golden City. Though, I very quickly deduced the ultimate outcome. I saw a lot of myself in Erin from growing up to fast to always being “the calm one” even with anger simmering just below the surface. It’s interesting to see how each couple is a perfect blend of balance.

The one tiny complaint is I wish we could see Bianca’s return to earth. I wanted to know how she assimilates back into a society completely unaware of intelligent life outside of Earth. How does her husband and daughter react when she returns to them? Do they believe her? Can she return to some semblance of normal? Unfortunately I have a feeling that will never be answered but I like to think everything turns out fine for Bianca.

In conclusion, I’m sad to leave the series behind but I’m excited to dive into her other series. She is an amazingly talented author.

Last book in the series and it was the worst one.
I hated this book so much. It took me so long to finish it, whereas I would finish the previous books in the series within a day or two.

I absolutely despise Jaxor. Wtf kind of mmc was the author going for??? He had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Stole two human females to traffic them to their ENEMIES. He was still going to sell Erin EVEN AFTER FINDING OUT THAT SHE'S HIS FATED MATE.

Throughout the whole book, he was horrible towards her. He was still considering selling her off to the enemies right until the end!? wtf.
Erin let all of that slide way too easily for my liking. Girl, stand tf up! he's trying to give you away to his enemies who are known to be cruel and ruthless, and she still forgave him🙄😤

Jaxor was insufferable. There's so much more negatives I want to say about him, but I don't feel like going through all that anger while reading the book again.
He did not deserve to be pardoned. Go F yourself.

Great Ending To A Series

It was this series that rekindled my love of reading after spending a long time in a depressive state after a breakdown. The world, the characters, the storytelling...it is all there, and this final book is no exception. It is also one of those series that you reread and feel the same enjoyment each time. If you haven’t already definitely give them a go!

Now I wait for the next Horde Kings book :)

Raxor and Erin's story was the best in all series. It had every element that I love in romance books. The suspense, the sexual tension, the escape, kidnapping, healing together, steam, the hero is saving the heroine, action scenes.. perfect. And I thought I was reading a mafia novel not gonna lie, which I LOVE the trope! Thank you Zoey :)

It was very emotional for this series to end. I am so invested in the Luxiaria world. I would love to read more! I just found the spin-off series and will definitely be reading them next! Then I want to try Zoey's Horde Kings series ;)
