The Kind of Love

Rate this book
Emiliah Finch knows a thing or two about love. She knows she never received it from her mother and that she loved her father to death. She only hasn't found it for herself. Emiliah buries her pain and loneliness under a cheerful facade, but deep down she still longs for something more.

Navigating her thirties, she's tired of the dating scene and keeps Jacob, her steady casual fling on standby. Emiliah convinces herself Jacob is great. But let's face it, he's not. Then, out of the blue, Emiliah receives an apologetic message from Hayden, her first love who left her when she needed him the most. Will she give him another chance and find the love she's been seeking? Or will she focus on healing from her past and finding happiness within herself? Maybe both. The Kind of Love is more than a love story. It's a story about heartbreak, loss, healing and growth. And discovering that the best kind of love is the one we give ourselves.

Jessica enjoys dancing around her house to songs you wouldn’t think one could dance to, strumming her ukelele and writing bad poetry. She loves drinking an ungodly amount of coffee and watching the birds in the sky. Introverted, and quiet but when she talks, she doesn’t stop. You can always find her behind a book reading, or her laptop writing. “The Kind of Love” is her debut novel.

The kind of Love is definitely a must read. I love romance novels and this is one of the first times that I could really relate to the MC and her experiences. Emiliah’s story is one of healing, growth, and love! The story and characters are very well written. Once you start reading, you won’t want to put this book down!

I felt like I was being followed around while someone secretly wrote about my life. There were so many times I would have to laugh out loud because I swear it was something I would do or say. There was a roller coaster of emotions throughout. This book really grabbed my attention and I honestly didn’t want to put it down. It will definitely be one I read again and again.

Absolutely loved this book!!! Quite possibly one of my favourite books I've ever read! Gives you enough information in the first few chapters to keep you interested but not quite enough so you are constantly intrigued!! Wish I could read it all over again already! An absolute must buy!

If you loved Beautiful Graves by L. J. Shen, this would be an excellent addition to your reading list. 🖤

I want to start by saying I'm so impressed with this debut. ✨ I've been following the author's journey on Instagram, and I can't believe the book is finally here.

I usually don't go for romances, but I feel like this book was more about learning to prioritize yourself and surrounding yourself with people who love and support you. Also, it doesn't feel like the main character made these positive life-altering changes because of a love interest but because they loved themself more. The book is a needed breath of fresh air for the genre.

I only gave this four stars because most of the dialogue between a certain set of characters felt like two therapists volleying a ball back and forth. It was very off-putting at moments and just felt so ungenuine. Also, after talking about how much she values herself and her worth, she allows a character to manipulate and mentally abuse her multiple times and is continually okay with it. It's never discussed how these traits were red hot flags and brushed away too quickly for my liking.

Overall, I enjoy reading about Emiliah's life and can't wait for what Knapp will release next. 🖤
