IT TAKES A VERY SPECIAL MAN TO WIN THAT SPECIAL WOMAN!

Overwhelmed by single fatherhood, widower David Winthrop feared he was failing his savvy, sad-eyed, ten-year-old son. Still, he never expected hotshot divorce attorney Kate Newton to descend upon him like some avenging angel, bristling with maternal indignation on behalf of Davey junior, her pint-size "client."

Worse, David found himself itching to peel away Kate's power pinstripes .... But could this tough lady lawyer, so adept at wrenching marriages asunder, prove woman enough to make David's tattered family whole?

With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.

"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."

The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.

Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.

A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.

In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.

When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.

I didn't finish. He's an arrogant self-involved idiot. Frankly, 'love' is not going to fix that. He needs a therapist not a girlfriend. She has a thriving legal practice as a divorce attorney. Which is only because she's "getting even with some man". What a gross stereotype. Then there's: "She was probably a real hellion in a courtroom, he thought with surprising admiration. Perhaps elsewhere, as well." I sincerely hope no man ever thinks such tripe. And this is supposed to be from the father that is so wrapped up in the grief of his deceased wife that he's completely ignoring his son. She has some major flaws too: her first "negotiation" should have been for family therapy, she's weirdly disconcerted when he makes innuendos (she's a successful divorce attorney, she's seen and heard it all) and still it seems shes destined to fall for this idiot.

I really liked the premise and the characters. The only thing that bugged me about this story is that David was only a widow for 6 months! His son, Davey, approaches Kate to divorce his father because he's so devastated about his wife's death that he can't stand to be in the family home and around his son. Yet then within a month or two, David has fallen for and has married Kate. If only the author had put Alicia's death at a year or more in the past, then it would've been easier to take the grieving scenes & believe in the love story.

This one had me in a complete chokehold from start to finish. What stood out most was how this wasn’t your typical, instant-fall-in-love romance. Instead, it took its time, building a slow, real burn with all the highs and lows—fights, tough decisions, and genuine moments of doubt about what the right choice should be. Kate and David’s story felt so authentic and gripping; I was fully invested in their journey. The ending was absolutely perfect—anything less would have been heartbreaking.

good guide for handling grief and second chances

Light-handled treatment of a serious issue of dealing with grief after the death of a loved one., both spouse and parent. More realistic than most romantic novels, this book infuses good advice along with the story. An easy read with a feel-good ending. Easily a five star!

Fun read

Kate's Vow was a good read. It had been awhile since I read the first three books, but it pieced in nicely without a lot of reputation. It was nice to see how Brandon fit in and Elizabeth and the girls handled this new family. It was great to see new characters added for Kate to grow through her issues too

I read this book the first time twenty years ago and I loved it, I wanted to re-read it but I forgot the author and title, I finally found through amazon ask it and I was so delighted. I bought a kindle edition (since times have changed!) and I'm so glad I read it again, it's such a nice story and I'm glad it's in my kindle library, will certainly read it again. I'm yet to read other books by this author, I hope they are just ad good

I loved this book! Although I knew what to expect and what was coming, I still was always wanting more and had a hard time putting the book down.

A fun modern romance. The cover of the library's ebook was better than this one! I'd read the others in the series. A couple steamy scenes.
