One More Betrayal was an emotional story that wove together the past and the present.  This is the second book in the trilogy, and you definitely have to start with One More Secret.  From there you start the journey of Jessica in the present, and Angelique in the past.  And getting to see how their stories wove together in this book was beautiful!
Troy continues holding me and doesn’t push for me to tell him what’s wrong. He’s the stalwart against all my storms, supporting me when my base crumbles.
I’m not sure what I would do without him.

Jessica’s story started out with a bang, and kept at an intense pace until that last page.  Accidents, near death experiences, and more will leave your head spinning.  She had so much going on and it'll keep you turning those pages to see not only what happens next, but to find out if she was okay too.  Yet the whole time, my heart broke for Troy.  He just wanted to love and help Jessica.  So when Jessica took that scary step and did open up, there were still things she kept in the shadows and hidden from him.  I understood her struggle with trust, and was thankful she had therapy, good friends, and Bailey in her life.  But when she told others things before him, it hurt.  I struggled deeply with that, and that made me lose the precarious connection I had with Jessica.
Johann steps out of the barn, his expression winter-storm dark. The pistol grasped in his hand is pointed at me.
“Where the hell are they?” Johann’s tone isn’t just angry.

We also spent chapters in the past with Angelique and Captain Schmidt, Johann.  Angelique was a SOE agent during World War II.  And Johann was forced to become a soldier for the Nazi’s, and now lived in the same house as Angelique and her ‘father’.  This book made me love their story even more, since we got to completely learn about Johann.
The kind and compassionate man before me is a juxtaposition to what his uniform stands for.
“Thank you.” Johann’s voice is a whisper, the words meant only for me.

I loved watching Angelique realize what a good heart Johann had.  Watching their trust, friendship, and more bloom was intoxicating.  Their romance story was beautiful while also beyond impossible.  Johann and Angelique felt like star-crossed lovers.  So I treasured the moments they had together.  The ball, the barn, the pond, her room.  Each time they were together my heart soared.  Yet I was terrified of what their future held too.
I’m still alive, so I’m holding on tight to that.

Sweaty palms were a given during both of the story timelines.  When Angelique was on one of her missions, I was sick to my stomach and absolutely terrified she would get found out.  It was torture reading through the pages watiting to see if she was safe or not.  And then with Jessica, there were things I can’t mention that left me horrified and in terror for her and her safety.  Both women had so much at stake and stacked on their shoulders.  At least for Jessica, I was grateful for all of the times Troy stepped up and helped with a situation.  I loved that he always had her back!
And with each kiss, tiny pieces of me the war has stolen are restored.

One More Betrayal had so many twists and turns within both of the stories.  And those last few chapters I didn’t see coming.   It’ll leave the reader desperately wanting to grab that next book now!  So if you enjoy your romance with suspense, a little bit of steam, and one that will keep you on your toes, then this series may be perfect for you!

Buckle in and hold on tight because this is one wild, adrenaline-fueled ride! It starts off with a bang and continues to build from there. If you haven’t read the first book in this trilogy you won’t be completely lost, but you’ll enjoy Jessica’s story and her romance with Troy more if you read them in order.

Jessica Smithson has started a new life in Maple Ridge and has made strides in putting her old life behind her. She's remodeling the home she purchased, she has a new job, a new boyfriend, Troy, and has been welcomed into Troy's group of friends as one on their own.

Her old life, however, still haunts her in the form of flashbacks and post-traumatic stress. Her sweet service dog in training helps some, but when she recognizes her former self in the eyes of a young Maple Ridge mother of a sweet toddler, Jessica is compelled to help.

I’ve come to really appreciate and admire Troy and the way he deals with Jessica. He understands PTSD like most people don’t, and he's careful and encouraging, and pretty much the best boyfriend a girl could ask for. He gets on shaky ground for a short time in this part of the story but manages to smooth things over and once again be the hero we’ve come to know him to be.

Jessica’s road to healing is a long, difficult one, often with two steps forward and one back. But the strength, grit, and determination she continues to show is amazing and admirable.

A current day romance with a historical spy thriller sprinkled in, these characters completely own me and I can’t wait for what promises to be an exciting, epic conclusion. This is a riveting, poignant, extraordinary romance for the ages, and you won’t want to miss it.

Universal

Jess has started over with new everything - life, love, and friends. Things are going along swimmingly except for the fact that Troy knows she still doesn't trust him, that there's something big she's keeping from him. And yet, it's obvious she's confided in his brother, but not Troy. Is she ever going to completely trust him? If not, can Troy stay knowing he doesn't have all of her?

I feel for Jess, and Troy too. Jess has so much she's dealing with, PTSD, shame and embarrassment for her past, and the secret she's hiding from Troy, and it's affecting both her and Troy. I'm not going to lie - it was hard reading, knowing that when this couple imploded, it was going to be painful, and it was, very. But there's also hope weaved in, even though there's a big cliffhanger at the end. I think this couple has staying power and I'm very anxious to find out how they navigate everything when the next installment releases.

OMG I just cannot get enough of this epic trilogy of books.
Troy and Jess plus Angelique and Johan's stories are so riveting and complex I am in awe of Stina Lindenblatt and her ability to weave two stories together into one book.
This book begins were Book 1 ends so you do NEED to read book 1 One more Secret first, this book will not make sense otherwise.
Jess continues to try to leave her past behind her and start a fresh..new identity, new home, new life..she is begining to make a life for herself making friends and having therapy for he PTSD.
Troy has alot to do with her new start,he has helped her so much and they have become more than friends...she is officially Troys girlfriend. But there is one thing missing in her life and it is something Troy can never help her with.
In this book secrets are finally exposed and brought into the light of day about Jess and the abuse she suffered.
Troy is just amazing he remains her rock and supports her throughout her turmoil even the secrets don't deter him from the love he feels for Jess. What he doesn't know is that Jess is still lying to him, because there are some secrets too painful to tell....and when her friend Violet is in danger from her abusive husband Jess is compelled to help...Risking her freedom and her relationship .
..And then there is the story from the diaries that continue and I have to say Jess and Angelique's stories maybe different but they are also similar..Its hard to explain but you will understand once you read these books.
The bravery of Angelique in WW2 and the risks she takes fighting against Hitler's regime and unexpectedly falling in love with Johan the enemy.Honestly their romance is so touching it brought me to tears especially when they join together for the first time.Johan is not like the Nazi's he pretends to support...he is only trying to protect his sister. He doesn't know Angeliques part in helping the resistance and to what extent she is taking chances with her life.
They break my heart I am terrified of something awful happening to them..lol..Can Angelique trust Johan though?
Stina Lindenblatt has me completely mesmorised and captivated by both couples stories about two brave woman fighting against their enemies and the men they fall for.
Stina's writing is perfection and will leave you wanting more,I cannot wait for book 3 and the conclusion.
Ending on a cliff hanger I have no idea what to expect or what will happen next,I am both excited and nervous to see what will unravel next.
This is an EXCELLENT second installment.
Two outstanding romances.
That I LOVED and enjoyed very much.
Superb

Be alerted, minor spoilers !!
The story of Jessica and Troy, which started in the first book of the trilogy, One more secret, continues in a great way. Jessica really settles in more and more in Maple Ridge, she's building friendships, seeming to benefit from the therapy she takes and is slowly on her way to recovery. Her trust in Troy starts to build and the fabulous work he and his brothers are setting up. Troy is doing everything a man can do to help her to the point where he finally can declare his ever-growing love for her. A bit more honesty about some of his actions would be advised, as it will be an issue further in the story. Will someone please smack him in the head?!

Danger however looms over Jessica's happiness when she gets acquaintance with a young mother in her town. The encounters turn into some hefty situations. Jessica again chooses someone else's luck above her own happiness, and I couldn't fantom her decisions. She draws strength from the story she discovered on Iris. Tension in the story is more embedded in the story than in the first book. It gives all kinds of exciting twists and turns. The cliffhanger toward the third part of this trilogy is a surprising moment in the story, yet I do want to know how this all gets her and Troy to a happy end in Maple Ridge.

The second storyline, set in WW II, develops as a great, impossible love story. Angelique and Johann grow closer and it does not go unnoticed. Will Iris be able to get through with al the danger work she is doing for the resistance and return to her home? The cliffhanger on this storyline is at a dangerous moment where the story can go any which way.

I am highly anticipating part 3, curious to see how Ms. Lindenblatt will merge both storyline into one satisfying ending (no pressure here...) And how Troy and Jessica handle all the revealing in the last chapter, if Iris and Johann will end up together and, not the least, if Amelia will learn the truth about her background.

These are my honest review and sincere thanks for a chance to read an ARC of the e-book.

wow! what a continuation for this series. great read

One More Betrayal is the 2nd book in the Hidden Secrets Trilogy it’s also part of the Carson Brothers. While you don’t have to read One More Secret the 1st book in the series, I would highly recommended it. It does have some hard topics such as spousal abuse, suicide, losing of parental rights, PTSD and complex PTSD. So please check the warnings before you start. But, I must say Stina does a great job on these topics with in the storyline.

So I’ll start off and say that his book is a dual time line story. If we remember the first book It’s a story about two women. A set of Journals found by Jessica give us insight to who Angelique was. Angelique (past) was a SOE special operations executive during WW II. We see her life take a shift as she falls in love with the enemy all while still keeping her true identity a secret. See she her plight throughout the whole book. She was putting her life on the line everyday. But, that plot twist on her storyline Wowzers. So good. Jessica (present) is still trying to recover her life. Her past life has left her being a shell of the person she was before. She’s dealing with history of abuse, false imprisonment, and severe PTSD. She still having issues with trust and her past is still haunting her presently. These two women are so strong, fierce and determined to survive. They have so many similarities but just years apart. The story is full of loss, love, understanding, patience, heartbreak but also the continuation of the healing journey. It was heartfelt, emotional, and pulls at your heartstrings. Boy, did this story through me for loops and kept be on my toes. Stories, secrets and betrayal are laced through out the whole story. But, through it all Troy Carson (present day) ex-military is there supporting jessica, loving her, showing her grace, and being her fierce protector. This story He is a true protective hero and a rock for her , even when she pushed him away. Jessica is still keeping secrets in this book. And, just when you think she’s going to have brighter days, Bam, there is multiple plot twist. Loved seeing the family and characters from previous book make appearances and getting updates on them. The book ends on a cliff hanger, and what a doozie it is. I was not expecting that ending. I can’t wait to read the next book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🦋 One More Betrayal is the second book in the Hidden Secrets Trilogy. This book picks up directly after the first book ends. It continues to tell the story of the dual POV characters of Jess and Troy (present) as they navigate a new relationship with Jess holding onto her secrets and trying to heal from past trauma, and Angelique and Johan (past) whose friendship blossoms while they fight on opposite sides of WWII.
I thought the first hundred pages of the book about Jess and Troy was a little slow. Angelique and Johan’s story peaked my interest which made me continue with the book. After about 1/3rd of the book, both stories started to pick up and kept me very engaged. I think Jess is one of my favorite main characters in a long time. She is very strong and determined to heal. She might have setbacks with her PTSD, but she works through them each and every time . Also no matter what she is dealing with she always helps her friends with whatever they need. I like how Troy is very caring and supportive of Jess. There is a small point at the end of the book where I did not like him, but luckily the storyline was misinterpreted and was quickly resolved.
Also, in this book, I enjoyed all the friends and I am glad that Jess told them about her secrets. They can then prove to her that they won’t leave her side. I also love the side story of the support dogs.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, especially the dual POV stories. Both stories end up with a cliffhanger, so I will be on the edge of my seat until the next book comes out!

WHAT I THOUGHT:
I have been looking forward to this book for MONTHS. I read the first one, which ended on a cliffhanger, and book picked up right where the last one ended. I love the mental health representation. I find it super realistic and relatable for a lot of people. Stina Lindenblatt did a great job of showing PTSD and domestic violence, and not romanticizing it.

The second story with Angelique during WWII was peppered into this book in a way that not only kept me interested, but kept me on the edge of my seat. I wanted to find out what happened with Troy and Jess, but I also wanted to read about Angelique. It was a war for which timeline I wanted to read more.

This book also ended on a cliffhanger, and I will be IMpatiently waiting for the third book in the trilogy.

♡Some open door scenes.

This is book two in The Hidden Secrets Trilogy and it continues Jessica and Troy’s story. This book continues from Book One which is One More Secret that ended with a cliffhanger. Jessica still has big trust issues because of her past and the secrets that she can’t afford to be revealed so even though she has fallen in love with Troy it comes with it’s own set of complications but when she sees her friend has the same look that Jessica had when she was with her husband Jessica can’t let it go because no one was there to help her when she needed it so she tries to help her friend even though it could completely destroy the happiness and new life that she had found with Troy in Maple Ridge and also the danger that it could bring to Jessica herself but regardless of the consequences she will not let anyone go through what she did. Troy loves Jessica so much and he needs her to trust him even though he knows that she holds herself back because of everything that she had gone through and still suffering all the flashbacks but Troy is a true hero, patient, kind, caring and always there to help and listen to Jessica when she needs him and always has her back regardless of the circumstances or situation and then we get another cliffhanger ending. Wow this book certainly takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions along with some difficult subjects that are written with so much care and compassion and I can’t wait to read the next book.

Stina you really upped the ante on this one. What a rollercoster! I have been waiting for this one since i finished book one in Jess story. I thought book 1 was gripping but this had me on the edge of my seat all the way through. The development in the story was brilliant and kept me hooked all the way through. Jess really is an amazing woman to have gone through what she endured and still want to try and help people before her own needs. My emotions were pouring out of me when it came to her and her daughter. I did feel for Troy in this one. He's really tried to be there for Jess and even though sometimes he doesn't think his actions through you can tell it come from a place of love yet Jess still leaves him in the dark and let's others in before him. The real star of this book was Angeliques story. I could easily read a whole book on her story. I loved how the story flowed seamlessly between the 2 stories and the chapters always left me wanting more. Again book 2 ends on a cliffhanger and I can't wait for the final instalment. I have a feeling its going to even more gripping and heartbreak. Thank you Stina for writing this incredible story you can tell how much hard work and love you have poured into this story and how much research you have done to deliver a touching and tastefully written book covering some really hard topics.

WOW! 😮 This one 👏 I had been eagerly awaiting this sequel to One More Secret (Book 1 in the Hidden Secrets Trilogy (Troy and Jessica’s story) but book 2 in the Carson Brothers series overall) anyways, One more Secret (book 1) left off with a MAJOR cliff hanger, this book, One More Betral, picks up at the exact point that One More Secret left off! Which I absolutely love!
⚠️You MUST read One More Secret before jumping into this one!⚠️

I love the time hopping and still trying to figure out how, in the big picture Angelique fits into Jessica’s life, because I feel like it’s more than just the research, I feel like there is larger connection their 🩷

Ugh but Troy and Jess, I just can’t get enough of their beautiful complex relationship! Just when you think everything is going to fall apart the healing and love takes over leaving these two fighting Jessica’s past and present together 🤭🥰

Thank you Sina Lindenblatt for this ARC copy of One More Betrayal, I am 1000% invested in Troy and Jess and can’t wait for book 3! (Also thank you for a cliff hanger that was not as crazy as the first 🤣)

This is an entertaining, good read. Troy and Jessica are interesting, captivating, relatable, entertaining, intrigue characters. I enjoyed them as individuals and a couple. The opening to this story grabbed me from the start. This is the first book in the series that I read, and I didn’t feel like I was missing anything, although reading in order would have provided more backstory information to the characters meet cute and relationship. What Jess and Troy go through in this story is a roller coaster adventure which by the end, I think makes them stronger as a couple. These characters are well-developed and left me pulling for them and cheering them on. The secondary characters – particularly their friends and family – added to the fabric of the story. This book packs a wallop in the best possible way. The story is easy to read and get into. I’m looking forward to seeing how Lindenblatt concludes Troy and Jessica’s story and how they get their HEA.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

One More Betrayal is the second book in this trilogy. Just when you thought Jess and Troy could go thru anymore drama. WOW!! She is slowly revealing her truth to Troy. She is also trying to help the wife of the police chief from an abusive relationship all hell breaks lose. She is scared to tell the truth about Voilet to Troy she ends things with him. Troy is very upset and goes drinking with his brother. Katelyn gets him drunk while playing pool and takes him home. When they truth comes out about what really happens Jess and Troy get back together.
Jess is still dealing with her flashback and suffering. Bailey is helping her get thru.
In the Angelina and Johann flashback and amazing. Don't want to spoil it but love that part of the book.
The last few chapters are incredible and very pleased with the results. The last paragraph in the book made me angry. lol
Please tell me Stina that a happy ending is coming for all of the couples in the book.
Highly recommand this series. Next book is coming in May/24

After reading book 1 I didn’t think I could be more speechless and shocked. But this story did that. I read this entire story on edge wondering what’s next and what will happen now to Jessica and Troy. I started worried with how book 1 ended then emotions changed to gappy because things were going well then it changed again to worried and concerned lol. It then changed again to omg how is this going to end. When things cleared up I had a smile in my face thinking finally something great and a happy ending to such a horrible situation. But of course like the emotional rollercoaster that is this book things changed AGAIN. O M GGGG!!!! The betrayal is real and I felt surprised, shocked and mad on Jessica’s behalf. Like when will this poor girl catch a break!! Hopefully Troy can finally put people in their places and make them pay for this betrayal. Jessica deserves to be left alone and to recover. I can’t wait for the final book because I know for sure heads will be rolling and friendships broken up.

5 Star review of One More Betrayal (Carson Brothers #3) by Stina Lindenblatt

If you haven’t read One More Secret then STOP as these books must be read in order. I couldn’t wait to see what Ms. Lindenblatt had in store for Jessica Smithson and Troy Carson after reading the previous book.

Set in Maple Ridge, their friendship has blossomed despite Jessica’s initial reluctance. However, can you have love without trust? Jessica’s secrets need to stay buried, she cannot afford to trust anyone and the danger is real as all may be revealed.

Jessica has been through so much and her PTSD ensures she has a long road of healing ahead. The romantic suspense element also adds an additional layer to the story line.

Will Troy step up or will it the secrets tear them apart? One More Betrayal is a fast packed story that held me captivate from the first chapter. Cannot wait for the conclusion to their story in One More Truth due to release in May 2024.

One More Betrayal is the second book in the Hidden Secrets Trilogy and to get the best out of this book I recommend you reading One More Secret first. Set in the small town of Maple Ridge this is the continuation of Jessica Smithson and Troy Carson’s journey.
Jess and Troy’s friendship is growing into something more but for it to become a relationship you need to trust and when you are clinging to the secrets from your past that’s not likely to happen. Revealing her past could be dangerous and could ruin any chance of Jess being part of her daughter’s life……….
So will the secrets she hides make or break them.
One More Betrayal is a captivating read with the perfect mix of love, passion and suspense. It’s well written and is one of those reads thats leaves you wanting more and excited for what’s coming next. The conclusion to the trilogy is One More Truth and it’s hitting our kindles in May 2024.

Jess and Troy's story continues seamlessly and flows easily in One More Betrayal, the second book in the Hidden Secrets Trilogy . And it's the same for Angelique and Johann's story , the second timeline in the book revealed through Iris's diary. The level of suspense and action is upped on both timelines and as more secrets are revealed and suspicions are confirmed. And the danger is really too close. Jess and Troy's friendship is growing into something more but Jess is still struggling with trusting. She confess to Troy about her past and that way he understands better her struggles and the help she needs to overcome her fears. A situation with one of her friends is too similar to her past situation and troubles her but she's willing to help . And by that she puts herself in real danger. And Troy is there for her even though that puts him in danger too . And I was so disappointed with Kaitlyn and Cora , Olivia's sister. What Kaitlyn did was easily seen for what it was - a lie . But what Cora did affects and hurts too many people. And that leads to another cliffhanger in the story. Angelique's story is also ending with a cliffhanger that is too hard to bear after that sweet moments she had with Johann . Well done, Ms Lindenblatt, so well done . Now I can't wait for One More Truth to see how all this will unfold and all loose ends will be tied up.

An absolutely great read and follow up to the first book in this series! I really enjoyed reading this sequel and having it pick up right where it was left in the previous book. A lot happens over the course of the two storylines in this book and it kept me constantly guessing and wanting to know what would happen next! Jess and Troy’s relationship is really tested in this book and Angelique and Johann’s relationship also grows and changes quite a bit. Both stories are well written and well developed that it has me constantly wanting to read on and not stop. I love how Stina has built these two different worlds that compliment one another so well and make for a great series! This book just like the first leaves you on a cliffhanger that leaves me really excited to read the final book in this series!.

Book 2 in the Hidden Secrets trilogy and it's a cracker. This picks straight up from One More Secret - literally - so the books need to be read in order. Once again it's an adventure with Troy and Jess in the present and another timeline with the diaries of Angelique, a spy during World War Two.

Jess is navigating her PTSD and her secrets. Troy is falling in love and also navigating her issues - sometimes unwittingly. It's a small town so there's new friendships and kindness and meddling. Dogs add some light to it all. The pacing is great, not all the goings-on relate to Jess's past, and her protectiveness and loyalty are not always helpful.

If I had a quibble, Troy seems to be the last to know everything, but Jess' experience with men makes this plausible. Looking forward to Book 3 and hopefully a happily-ever-after for Troy and Jess!

Thank you NetGalley, and the author for the ARC. Opinions are my own.

This is the third book in the Carson Brothers series, but the second in the Hidden Secrets trilogy. This book pick right up where the first book ended. I just devoured this book. There are many times when this book had me on the edge of my seat gripping it with all my might. Some truly nasty characters in this one. Jessica is making so much progress, but she does hit some speed bumps along the way. We get to know more of her backstory and it just breaks my heart even more for her. We also enjoy the dual timeline with what is happening with Angelique in 1943. That story is heating up as well. Some twists and turns in that one. Boy are we left with cliffhangers for both stories. I don't know how I'm going to be able to wait because I really want to knows what happens next! This is a must read trilogy. The Hidden Secrets trilogy must be read in order.

One More Betrayal picks up right where One More Secret left off, and the two continue to face more challenges together.

I liked that Jess opened up more to Troy. In Secrets she was still very closed off, and did not want to open up about her history. This was understandable, but as they were starting a relationship, it was vital that she start opening up more. After an accident, Troy learned more, and it kind of forced Jess to open up. We also see history repeating it self with Violet and Sophie, and Jess sees this situation as a way to maybe redeem herself a bit. She wants to protect Violet from experiencing the loss she’s felt.

I also found myself enjoying the historical timeline more this time around, and I’m excited for the third book in the trilogy to find out how everything works out for everyone in this series!

I didn't think Troy and Jessica's story could get any more twisty, but it did! And again, I forgot it was part 2 of a three book series, as I coasted along towards the end.
Ms. Lindenblatt doesn't shy away from the hard subjects, but she also never sensationalizes them either. Jessica is learning to open up more to Troy, and others, but it's definitely not all smooth sailing in her world. New surprises rock her and throw her off course within herself and with Troy. It's not unlike an emotional rollercoaster for the reader.
The WWII storyline, for me, was getting in the way of our here and now couple at the beginning, but now I'm just as invested in Angelique's tale as I am Jessica's. I need to know not only what happens with the German officer but also the relationship with "Angelique's" sister!
I'm not sure I have the patience to wait until May for the conclusion of this series!!

One More Betrayal picks up where One More Secret ended and cannot be read as a standalone.

I can’t even with this book and series!!! This plot is so complex, yet reads easily. Every page brings a new twist in either the current story surrounding Jessica or the story from the past that mirrors so much of what Jess is facing with Angelique.

As Jess is trying to put her life back together and learn to trust the man she is falling for, she becomes embroiled in the life of her friend, Violet who is facing a very similar situation to her own. Determined to save Violet and her young daughter from her abuser, Jess’s life is put into danger and she’s forced to keep more secrets from Troy and her new friends terrified not only to implicate them, but of what they will think of her if they learn about her past.

This is a very moving book but is a cliffhanger.- Kristina

Jess and Troy’s’ story continues right where book 1 ends. With this book, Jess sets out to help a woman in need. Someone she can truly relate to. This leads to danger for Jess. We see her strength and determination as well as her stubbornness. Troy has a heart of gold. He knows what she is dealing with and refuses to give up on her. There are times your heart will break. I had many of those. But there were also times that I was so aggravated with the secrets! This shows the great writing of the author because I was invested!

The book brings more heartache. It brings more questions. It brings more fear. The entire time though, Jess has a support group that stands by her side- when she lets them. The story she is revealing with the journal she finds continues to surprise as well.

Looking forward to the final book!

So much tension

The midpoint of the story (if we don’t count the prequel). So much happened in this, I don’t know where to start! Jess and Troy go through so much, I’m amazed they can still function. Troy keeps injuring his shoulder (‘Samuel has also threatened to put Troy in a body cast so the shoulder can heal. I think he might’ve been joking, but that might not be a bad idea based on Troy’s current track record.’), and Jess was getting close to healed when she ended up beaten, then a day or two later, strangled. I think they should have a wing named after them in the hospital lol. Things seem to be looking up in getting Chief Wilson away from abusing his wife, but now someone who they thought was a friend has publicly - in a National Newspaper article - exposed Jess and her past. Bring on the conclusion!

Moving forward from her past is proving to be more difficult than Jessica expected as the emotional scars still remain. She battles between keeping her secrets and trusting Troy but when she realizes the predicament her friend is in it will bring both to a crescendo.

Troy is trying to be patient and understanding while he shows Jessica with both words and actions that she can trust him with her heart and her secrets. That is about to challenged when he realizes that she is only letting him so close before backing away and that is no longer enough.

Jessica and Troy’s story is both emotional and heartfelt as she tries to overcome her past while evolving into the woman she was always meant to be and the secondary romance from the past is just as compelling.

This is a continuation from the first book. Things are finally getting better for Troy and Jess. They have a good thing going and things are finally looking up. Once Jess discovers her friend Violet needs help, she is desperate to do anything to help, even if it means ending the best thing that ever happened to her. There is so much going on, that no one knows about, and it all affects Jess and Troy. Will things work out in her favor and will she be able to keep her secrets safe? It ends in a cliffhanger and now I am dying to read book three! I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

More secrets are revealed and hidden in this second book of Jess and Troy's story. I love the parallel storylines and the research Ms. Lindenblatt did for the WWII story. This trilogy hits a lot of emotions and deep issues. The group of friends/found family is an amazing support for Jess but it's the depth of emotion this author brings to the characters that keeps the reader turning the page. I am anxiously waiting for book three. I highly recommend this author's work and love everything I've read by her.
