The Road Trip Rewind

Rate this book
Readers of Christina Lauren and Emily Henry will adore this standalone follow-up to The First Date Prophecy from 90’s Nickelodeon star of The Adventures of Pete and Pete and his real-life wife, as Back to the Future meets 10 Things I Hate About You when the past, the present, and two hearts (with unfinished business) collide in the most epic, hilarious, and downright poignant way . . .

Up-and-coming screenwriter Beatrix Noel’s dream project is finally a reality—her 90s-era script is in production. Less dreamy is the A-list actor in the starring role—none other than Rocco Riziero, who jilted Beatrix on New Year’s Eve back in 1999. Without his celebrity status, the project would likely still be withering on her hard drive, but that doesn’t mean Beatrix won’t shame him at every opportunity
on-set—especially when it becomes painfully obvious he doesn’t even remember her . . .

Boxed-in as a Hollywood pretty-boy, Rocco is thrilled to tackle a genuinely dramatic role. But he’s perplexed about why the screenwriter treats him like a maggot. And awkward becomes irksome when their bickering results in a car crash right outside the famed Roxy Theatre on Sunset Boulevard—site of the New Year’s Eve party where everything went wrong . . .

Shockingly, Beatrix, Rocco, and the car, are uninjured. The twist? They’re clearly, truly, somehow, still in December, still on Sunset—but in 1999 . Their mission? They’ll have to work together to correct their old mistakes—which just might bring them closer than either expects . . .

But can they change the past without altering their future selves—and hold on to what they’ve found together? Only time-travel will tell . . .

This is such a joyful blast from the past.

I loved ALL THAT and THE ADVENTURES OF PETE AND PETE growing up. As a redhead myself, I was obsessed with Danny Tamberelli for years! It’s great to see his joy and funny personality have carried into adulthood in this witty, heartfelt rom com.

In 2016, Beatrix is a 36-year-old divorcee with many regrets. She writes a screenplay about her late dad, who is played by a 90s heartthrob actor named Rocco. Beatrix and Rocco had a moment together in the late 90s but he doesn’t remember …. Until they’re both transported back to the end of 1999, the height of Y2K panic, Tower Records, and cash only establishments. Together they have a chance to repair past wrongs, potentially creating a future for themselves as a pair.

There’s a lot of comedy in these pages, but sentimentality in equal measure. Having lost my own dad 18 years ago, I related to Beatriz’s desire to say goodbye to her dad in the past. No one can introduce their future partners to a deceased parent in real life, but I’ll take it in fiction. This is an adorable, fun read.

I am a sucker for a time travel book and this one was so much fun to read! There were so many 90s references that the little teenager inside of me was squeeing because the 90s were the best.

This book was full of tension and fun and I wish i could read this over again for the first time. I really didn’t want this book to end.

Thank you to Kensington Books, NetGalley and the authors for an eARC for a honest review of the book.

The Road Trip Rewind is the follow up to The First Date Prophecy but can be read as a standalone. These novels are written by the husband and wife duo Kate and Danny Tamberelli who write 90s nostalgia romance novels. If the last name sounds familiar, it’s because Danny was the star of The Adventures of Pete & Pete! Full disclosure: I have not read The First Date Prophecy and did not have any problem understanding The Road Trip Rewind. I do plan to go back and read The First Date Prophecy because I enjoyed this book so much!

I loved this book! It was the perfect blend of time travel and 90s vibes and I was here for it! I LOVED all of the 90s references and it just took me back to my childhood/teenage years. I’m a sucker for time travel and I felt like this one was so well done. I also felt like the characters were so well-developed. Beatrix was also dealing with a lot of grief and emotions and I appreciated well this was worked into the plot. There was the perfect balance of humor and emotion in this book and it all just really worked so well.

This was such a fun dual POV, second chance time loop romance that sees an A list actor and the writer of the new movie he's working on forced together as they travel back in time and get a chance to fix past regrets and mistakes. Fresh and funny with lots of emotional depth, this was great on audio narrated by one of the authors and Mara Wilson and perfect for fans of books like This spells love by Kate Robb. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

As a millennial who was raised by Nickelodeon in the 90’s I was super excited to read a book Written by Little Pete (Danny Tamberelli) and his Wife Kate Tamberelli.
This book had a great plot, Second chance romance, y2k throw backs, time travel, and lots of laughs.

I was pleasantly surprised on how well written and original the story was!

This book had a lot of potential but it fell flat. A time travel story that takes place in the late 90's sounds super fun but instead it was just meh.

The writing is generally weak, I can't tell you how many times "very" is used. Way too much. I never felt emotionally connected to either main character and absolutely did not buy that the hero wouldn't recognize the heroine from their past.

So they get in a car crash and end up in 1999 and it's a little funny. The story also tackles the death of the heroine's father and that was the only part of the book I liked a lot.

Overall this one is a miss for me, I won't recommend it.

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley, all opinions are my own.

This was a fun time travel romance to read. I read the authors first book, and a couple of the characters from that book make the crossover into this one. Rocco and Bea date briefly when they're in their early twenties and then seventeen years later are working together on a movie that Bea wrote. Rocco is a famous actor, and he broke Beas heart, so she's having a tough time having him in her movie. The movie is about Bea's father and what happened when Bea was a teenager. One December day, Bea and Rocco are arguing in Bea's car Delilah when they suddenly crash. When they wake up, it's 1999, and they have no clue what's going on. During a few confusing but fun days, Bea and Rocco relive the past, and Bea makes amends with a very important person in her life. Shortly after that, they're in Delilah when they crash again and wake back up in 2016. Things seem the same until they're not. Something from the past has changed their future, and Bea and Rocco have a tough time adjusting to this. Doubt and worry worm their way in between them and things end, until New Year's Eve when they both realize how they truly feel about each other.

First thing’s first: thank you Netgalley for the ALC of this book!
The Road Trip Rewind was a second chance romance about Beatrix, an up and coming screenwriter, and Rocco, a well loved Hollywood star. Rocco is cast in Beatrix’s passion project and doesn’t recognize her as the woman he blew off in favor of a popular starlet in 1999. They end up thrust back in time together, back to the very same part of 1999 where things went wrong. They have to work together to correct their mistakes in hopes of making it back to 2016 without changing too much of their future.
I really enjoyed this book! I thought it was funny and sweet and this was a well done second chance romance IMO. Second chance is not one of my favorite romance tropes, but it worked so well for this story. I loved the character development and the way they interacted. My biggest complaint was the male narrator- I really didn’t love the cadence of his voice 😬 the way he narrated sounded so bizarre and choppy. The female narrator did a great job, though!

4.5 stars. I really enjoy the Tamberellis' work! I loved The First Date Prophecy last year, and I loved this one as well.

Rocco & Bea are the types of main characters that I really enjoy: confident in who they are as a person but willing to grow and be better. They both have their faults, sure, but who doesn't? Rocco specifically calls out that he hates the miscommunication trope (which SAME) and makes sure to be completely honest with Bea - a very mature conversation amidst zany time travel.

The story was a lot of fun: a high suspension of disbelief is needed, obviously, but still a playful read that I smiled most of the way through.

Thank you RBMedia and Netgalley for the Advanced Reader Copy. This novel tells the story about the past, present and two people navigating life and their relationship with each other. I enjoyed this audiobook but didn't love it. I found the dialogue to be awkward at times and didn't flow right with the audiobook. I enjoyed the dual POV and having two narrators, which is my favorite way for a romance to be organized.

i was not expecting to like this book at first because i was confused on how ti was going to progress but i was not at all disappointed.

the characters and their conflicts felt so real and i like how the bickering was significant to the story because at first i thought the FMC just hated life or something lol

also, time travel? always a yes in my book

A fun, light-hearted romp through 1999 in a time traveling VW Jetta!

If you’re a millennial with the urge to take a walk down memory lane in the form of a second chance romance this is sure to hit the spot. We read this for book club and it was so fun to reminisce on the iconic movies, celebs, clothing, and even snacks of the time!

The Road Trip Rewind is an entertaining if uneven time travel second-chance romance. Great for a summer beach read with a speculative twist.

Mara Wilson did an excellent job providing narration for the audiobook; co-author Danny Tamberelli did a decent and fully coherent job as well, however, his voice doesn’t really lend itself to that of a romantic lead, to the point I was distracted and frequently pulled out of the story. This may be a matter of personal taste, so take this with a grain of salt.

Thank you Kate Tamberelli, Danny Tamberelli, HighBridge Audio, and NetGalley for providing this ARC for review consideration. All opinions expressed are my own.

Perfect for fans of 90s romcoms and second chance romance! The Road Trip Rewind is a super cute time travel romance centered around screenwriter Beatrix and Hollywood A-lister Rocco. The pair meet again when Rocco stars in Beatrix’s screenplay about the most traumatic events of her life. Beatrix is struggling with the intense emotions that come with watching her worst moments be recreated on the screen and to make matters worse, her ex, Rocco, is playing Beatrix’s dad 🫢 Will a trip back in time to the ill-fated week of their break-up be enough to bring Beatrix some clarity?

I had a lot of fun with this book! While I don’t have the same nostalgia for the 90s that the author does, it was still fun to read all the little nods to the time and feel the love that went into the book 💖

Thank you to NetGalley and Highbridge Audio for providing me with an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review!!

I felt like the female character, Beatrix, was kind of the more thinly sketched of the two characters. She was just so angry and a bit unbearable. And there were some parts that needed more explanations (Are they staying in a hotel nightly? How much cash do they have left? I want the operational details of their trip!)

But it was ok enough for me to want to go back and read their first book.

Oh I should also add that I didn't grow up watching Pete & Pete so I have no connection to the authors.

The road trip rewind is a time travel romantic comedy, in which two former lovers accidentally travel back in time to do…. — yes, what exactly?!? I guess that is what we are supposed to find out.

This could have been a great book, had I been able to like the MC, Rocco, and forgive his previous behavior. What happened is that he essentially ghosted Beatrix, our FMC, when they were in their twenties in favor of dating someone else. I understand that everyone makes mistakes and if you’re young and naïve you can just act on impulse and maybe looking back you do not even understand what you were thinking, or you might just feel like a different person. But this rational does not help when you are constantly seeing that younger version of Rocco interacting with the younger Beatrix and acting like he is in love. For me, this behavior did just not fit together and seemed like even more of a betrayal than if he had acted more coldly towards Beatrix in the past. How can you go from spending almost all your time together, having no problems with each other, to no contact so quickly?

If we had been told this story trough flashbacks or through their conversations, it could be argued that each of them remembers their relationship differently, details would be fuzzy and the emotions less fresh. But as we get to see their past relationship unfold minute by minute, nothing is warped by time and everything is rawer. Rocco really acted that in love, they really spent that much time together (he really didn’t even buy a second pillow for her to sleep on) and then he really just forgot about her.

Even worse, Rocco barely learns from seeing any of this, even as his older self, his actions are almost all to Beatrix's detriment. He argues that what he did was not cheating, as they had not defined their relationship and Rocco owed Beatrix nothing. This is just an excuse for sh*tty behavior and does not change the fact that he broke Beatrix's heart and trust. I understand that she got over it in the end but reading about it ‘in real time’ did not give me enough time to get over his behavior, even as a reader. Usually there is a great reveal in second chance romances, why a miscommunication happened or that he really didn’t cheat on her after all, but that doesn’t happen here. And there really is no rationale behind his actions that would make it okay in my eyes.
If I had known about this set-up of the story, I would not have picked up this book. Because what is described here is cheating to me, and it is a no-go in a love story for me, even if it is a second chance one.

Let’s finish with some aspects I enjoyed:
I did like most of the throwbacks and Beatrix's attitude to everything. I love the music that was mentioned and the overall vibe I got from it, and the fact that Beatrix's car was almost a third protagonist. I also enjoyed the perspective of time travel being treated like real travel where they take advantage of the 90s culture, have a little road trip and even bring souvenirs.
This book had a lot of potential for me, if Rocco had been more likable and there had been a misunderstanding back than rather than Rocco actually choosing someone else over Beatrix, this book could have been a four-star read.

I listened to the audiobook, and I'm sorry to say that Danny Tamberelli doing the narration of the male perspective kind of ruined the experience for me. There were no nuances to his narration. He sounded skeptical, flustered and full of self-doubt throughout the entire audiobook, when I am sure that was not what the character was supposed to reflect. The voiceover was choppy, you could really hear him think about what he is reading next. There was also no voice acting whatsoever, even when it came to reading other characters' speech. This made the listening experience a strain instead of the laid-back listens I am used to.
I also think that Danny Tamberelli does not have the right voice for a love interest in a romantic comedy, and his voice just did not suit the movie star heartthrob that is described in the book.
It seems like one of those cases where no one objected to him being a narrator because it is Danny Tamberelli’s project and not because he has any narration skills.
I think it's a great effort when authors voice their own audiobooks, but this task is way harder than it might seem and actually requires a lot of training and skill. At this skill level, please leave it to the professional narrator’s next time! I was always glad when the point of view changed to the female narrator, because she did a fantastic job.

Thank you to NetGalley and HighBridge Audio for gifting me this ALC of the audiobook to review. All opinions are my own. I was not paid to leave this review.

This was another cute book by 90's Nickelodeon child star Danny Tamberelli and his wife Kate!
While this is the sequel to The First Date Prophecy, it does not follow the same characters. This one follows Rudy's brother Rocco and Beatrix (Bea).
Beatrix is making a movie based on her late father's life. He was wrongly convicted of murder and she didn't believe he was innocent until it was too late. Starring in her movie is Rocco Riziero who was in a relationship with Beatrix back in 1999. She remembers vividly catching him with Piper (the same person who broke apart Rudy and Rocco's relationship) at a New Year's Eve party, but he doesn't remember her. Once she comes clean about why she is treating him badly, they get in a car accident and are transported back to that fateful time in 1999. Are they supposed to change or fix the future?
Bea was a great character, she was flawed but smart and compassionate. Rocco, we knew a little bit from The First Date Prophecy, but he was more mature than the girlfriend stealing brother was depicted as then.
I loved the contrast between how Bea and Rocco interacted at the beginning when the movie was filming and then when they found themselves in 1999 and had to act as a team to figure out how to get back to their own time. I loved all the '90's references, Danny was actually referenced in the book as "that red-head from All That" or something which made me laugh (All That was one of my favorite shows). I liked what happened in 1999 which I don't want to give away, but it was so heartwarming. We then had about 25% left of the book when they came back to 2016 which I felt would be the end, them finding their way back, but a lot happened. Things changed, and not for the better while they were "away." The epilogue was perfect in my mind. It really brought everything full circle and ended in such a great way.
For the audiobook, Danny narrated Rocco's part and Mara Wilson (who played Matilda) narrated Bea's part. They both narrated in The First Date Prophecy and I welcomed them back in this one. Danny has such character in his voice and he really makes it seem like he is talking to a friend while narrating. Mara does a great job too, bringing a lot of character into Bea's part.
This was such a fun romance with a great nod to the '90's that I think a lot of people will love!

What a delightful read!
I loved everything about this story!!

So...we have Beatrix Noel. She's a screenwriter whose movie is just being made. She's thrilled! Except for one thing. The guy they cast as the MMC of the movie is her ex from 1999...and he doesn't even remember who she is!! So, she decides that since she has no choice in the matter, she is going to make life very difficult for him...and she does! (Hysterically so!!)

Rocco Riziero is the MMC. He's a heartthrob and has girls following him wherever he goes. He has absolutely no idea why the screenwriter hates him so! ??? !

He asks her to meet up with him for coffee one day, off set, to talk. They do, but it only makes matters worse! =0

She gets in her car and starts sobbing. He gets in his car to find it is DEAD.

So, he goes over to her, head hanging, to ask for a ride home. She reluctantly agrees, and they're off.
BUT, as they are driving something very strange happens in her little old VW.
They've gotten into an accident!
But no, that's not it. There's no damage and neither of them are hurt???
And, weird thing is, they are right in front of the Roxy. The start of their end in 1999...

But as they get out of the car to explore, they realize that something is very wrong! No one is holding a cell phone. There's a Tower Records on the corner, and they've been out of business for years ??? And none of the cars on the street are newer than late 90's... WHAT. Is. Going. On???

And so, here they are, in the past! But why? And how do they get back? And what are they supposed to do now??

So sweet in so many ways! And wow, if only I could go back to the 90's... There would be so many things I'd want to change!!!

Thanks so much to #NetGalley and #HighBridgeAudio for an ARC of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review! I feel so lucky to have gotten this one!! 🙂

THIS IS DUE TO RELEASE TOMORROW, 6/18/24…so look for it then!

This book. First of all, entirely too many things were happening. In the first chapter it's established that the main female character is a novelist turned screenwriter, and she's on the set of a movie that's being made of one of her books, and the star of the movie--the man playing her father, who was falsely accused of murder--is a movie star with whom she had a light romance nearly 20 years ago. So that's just a lot of plot.

Oh and then they also time travel to 1999 about 1/3 of the way through the book. Why? How? Who cares? It happens, I suspect because the authors wanted to wax nostalgic about the late 1990s.

Also, the characters are named "Beatrix" and "Rocco" and--no. New rule I just made up; you get ONE quirky character name. If you want her to be named "Beatrix" then his name is "Dave."

But, I could forgive all this if it weren't for the jarring nature of the way this book was written. It's written by a husband and wife duo, and I imagined her writing a chapter and handing it to him to write the next. This isn't explicitly stated, but I prefer to believe that the woman wrote from the female character's perspective and man from the male's. And the female ("Beatrix") comes off like a shrew in his chapters, which led me to think, do you even like your wife?

I liked the female character chapters; they felt like they were more descriptive, people had understandable motivations for the actions, etc. Except for at one part in which each character was totally speaking in a monologue for paragraphs on end.

The most inforgiveable sin of this book is the failure of the 2nd author to "Yes, and" the first. One chapter would end with a plot device that could lead to major changes, or surprises, or unsuspected fallout, but the next chapter would just--drop that ball and move in a different direction. Did they even outline this together?

Now my husband wants to write a book with me. We'd set it in the 1980s because we're not millennials.

A 90s time travelling road tripping celebrity romance co-written by someone with lived experience of Hollywood? Hell yes. Co-authors Kate Tamberelli and Danny Tamberelli return with the sequel to their debut, featuring Rudy's movie star brother Rocco. Rocco time-travels to 1999 with Beatrix, the screenwriter of his current film which is based on her life. To Beatrix's fury, Rocco doesn't recognise they dated in 1999. Both must figure out what past wrongs they need to fix if they want to return to 2016.

This book was such a fun romp, and while the pace did drag a bit around the halfway mark, it was still the sort of book that had me glued as it was so well-written with the perfect blend of comedy, banter but also emotional beats that made me tear up. There was so much depth to the characters. Beatrix is nursing a lot of grief and guilt over her dad, while Rocco is trying to learn from his past mistakes. It was also refreshing to see Rocco communicate clearly and ensure they left no room for miscommunication. These were characters that acted their ages (late 30s), carrying their baggage of past mistakes and working through how to be better, which is so relatable to anyone looking back on their youthful mistakes.

I loved this book even more than the first, and the first was a delightful surprise. I think this is because I felt the first was too close to Kate and Danny's real life love story, so I was curious to see them write something different. I was certainly not disappointed. As I said in my first review 'I think the Kate and Danny Tamberelli are onto a good thing here. More, please!'

What do you get when you bring together an A-list actor and a screenwriter with a shared past only one of them remembers, a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta, and the perfect hit from a taco truck? A very fun time travel adventure!! (bet you didn't see that coming)

The Road Trip Rewind is the story of Beatrix (Trixie, Bea), a daughter mourning the relationship she lost with her father who passed before she could fix it and a screenwriter telling that story via film only to have her ex play her dad AND NOT EVEN REMEMBER HER, and Rocco, a-list actor who has been hurt in the past and refuses to get too deep with anyone and constantly seeks praise from the one source he's not getting it from in the form of the screenwriter he's long since forgotten (okay, but in his defense she has a different hair color, isn't fawning over him, and goes by a different name now). With their past revealed, the two (thanks to a perfectly timed hit and run) end up back in December of 1999, when everything fell apart when Beatrix chose Rocco over her dad, but Rocco chose someone else over her. Through following all the classic "back in time" tropes, the two make discoveries about themselves and each other, make amends for previous errors, and may dabble a bit in changing their own future.

This was a light, quick, and enjoyable read! It was especially fun that a husband and wife each wrote the different perspectives of the characters, which gave each character's chapters a unique and fun vibe!

Thank you so much to Kate and Danny Tamberelli and NetGalley for a chance to read this in exchange for an honest review! The Road Trip Rewind comes out May 21, 2024!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for this charming ARC. Written by a 90’s Nickelodeon star and his wife, this book is a funny, quirky, and nostalgic read!

Beatrix and Rocco reunite on the set of a movie that Beatrix has written about her relationship with her father, who had been falsely accused of murder. However, things take a messy turn when Rocco, her ex, is cast to play her father. Their relationship had broken apart on New Year’s Eve of 1999, and during a fateful car ride, they are sent back in time a couoke says before that night. To return to present-day 2016, they must work together and find out what went wrong on the eve of Y2K.

The time-traveling element of the story was entertaining to see. The characters' backstories were well-developed, especially Beatrix's, and their actions in the past had a significant impact on the future. I appreciated that their journey back to the future was not a smooth one, and they had to face more challenges to find their way back to each other.

The nostalgic references throughout the book were enjoyable, and Bea's relationship with her father was beautifully portrayed. Rocco and Bea's chemistry was perfectly built up with their banter and personalities. Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves second chances, road trips, and anything 90s and Y2K.

Thank you again to Kate and Danny Tamberelli and NetGalley for this delightful read. The Road Trip Rewind is set to release on May 21st!

Spoilers…Beatrix and Rocco met when they were young and had a short relationship; however, Rocco ended it when he reconciled with an old girlfriend named Piper. Beatrix was heartbroken. Sixteen years later, Beatrix had written a screenplay for a movie of her father’s wrongful murder conviction when she was young. Beatrix had not believed her father when he said he was innocent and that had some bearing on him being convicted. Years later he was exonerated but was dying of cancer. Due to her guilt, Beatrix had never gone to see her father before he died. The movie is now being made, and Rocco is cast to play her father. Beatrix is furious that Rocco doesn’t remember her, so she is very cold and mean to him on set which he doesn’t understand. Eventually she tells him who she is and he remembers her. They end up in her old car in the highway when they experience something strange and realize they have time-traveled back to when they first met years before. They fall in love and Rocco goes with her to see her father the night before he dies. Back in current time, Piper is playing her mother in the movie even though she and Rocco’s relationship had ended many years before, but it briefly causes Beatrix to worry she would get hurt again, but eventually Bea and Rocco work it out and begin their lives together. The story ends with the movie premiere and Bea’s mother gives her a letter her father had written to her the night he died. He acknowledged in the letter that her older self had come back to see him that night and said goodbye. Bea and Rocco decide to make a movie of their time-traveling experience. Good story with a time-traveling twist to the romcom storyline.

I do love a time travel read. Blame it on Quantum Leap - a show I was obsessed with growing up. The idea of making right what once went wrong is a pretty great concept that appears in this book too, with Rocco and Bea jumping to the past and see themselves young and in love while knowing how it all went wrong for them.

Bea has a lot of baggage and it was easy to root for her and want her to win at life. That's what made part of the read a challenge for me - what Rocco did in the past would be a deal breaker forever for me so for most of this book, I was kind of 🤨 anytime it was his POV and talking about how young and dumb he was. I don't think I was ultimately won over by him, but I loved the rest of the book so I was ok with him getting a happy ending too. Look, if you read Carly Fortune's Every Summer After and was pleased with the ending, you'll be on board here too. If you were like me and were like hmmmmm, this may not be the book for you.

The highlight was Bea - her black cat energy, her strength, and her capacity to be the bigger person was a terrific character journey. I loved where she came to terms with her not-so-perfect relationship with her deceased father. That entire storyline was chef's kiss.

There was also a plot reveal that made me gasp - I'm not often surprised as I am a very good guesser, but this one got me.

The book itself was 4 ⭐️ but then main driver for my enjoyment was the family plotline and not the romance one.

Beatrix Noel is making it big as a screenwriter telling her own personal story through the big screen. Rocco Riziero, A-list actor that previously broke her heart, is unfortunately starring in something she holds so dear to her heart, and what’s worse is he seems to have forgotten who she is! After a confrontational meeting that ends in a car accident, the two are transported together back to the time when everything went wrong between them, 1999. Together they work through their past and try to right their wrongs while reliving the golden era of the 90s.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was the perfect nostalgic 90s book that took me back to another time! I never fell in love with Beatrix and Rocco, but their story was cute. I just wish they dug a little deeper into their relationship. While I may not have been into the romance, I personally LOVED the relationship between Beatrix and her Dad. It definitely brought tears to my eyes and tugged at my heart strings. I wish we got more of their relationship in the book!

I really liked the narrator for Beatrix. She pulled me back into the story for her chapters. Danny Tamberelli as Rocco took me out of it for his chapters. The goofball voice just didn’t fit serious actor for me. I love dual POV that actually has two narrators, so that was a huge plus!

Thank you to NetGalley and RBmedia for providing me with an audio ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

Seeing Tamberelli’s personality shine like diamonds throughout this novel had me thrilled. I’m a 90’s baby at heart, growing up with all of the shows we miss so much. This witty rom-com will have you laughing along as the main characters navigate this wonderful story.

Beatrix is a screenwrite with a life full of regrets and a divorcee at that. Her and the total hottie, Rocco, playing the other character in her show share a moment years ago, and while he doesn’t remember… he has no choice when they’re teleported back in time to some of my personal favorite bits of television were made — in the 90’s. Now, this is a follow up to The First Date Prophecy but I personally had no trouble understanding the story here and so I feel like this could be read stand alone.

The characters truly shined in this book — they are so well written and defined with personalities to match. The turmoil Beatrix feels and goes through feels so real and heartfelt. After losing my dad years ago it is easy for me to relate with the character. Even with dealing with the big emotions like grief and regret, this rom com continues to remain upbeat and a joy to read.

I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to read more from this author. Thank you to Kensington Books as well as Lisa Munley over at TLC Tours for the physical arc copy of the book.
