I've read all the stories and loved them all! They're fast, fun, sweet, and sexy, not to mention this anthology is for a good cause. Definitely recommend if you want some good light-hearted reads.
(3 stars) Reality show, lust/love at first sight between a former closeted NFL player and the show host. Light and angst free, but would have appreciated a bit more depth to the story.
Ewe and Me by Colette Davison
(3,5 stars) Sweet opposites attract story about a grumpy farmer and a country vet in the northern England setting.
The Perfect Match by EM Denning
(2,5 stars) Friends to lovers, didn't really connect with the characters, skipped the sex scene at the end.
Always The Matchmaker by Ashlynn Mills
(3 stars) Fake dating the love interest's older brother, cute enough, surprising number of sex scenes for such a short story.
Three Lost Now Found by Michelle Dare
Some threesome mess? Skipped.

(3 stars) Cute story with quirky characters but an abrupt ending.
This was a wonderful collection of stories from some very talented authors. I loved all of them. Definitely going to be checking out some of the authors I've never read before and revisiting the booklists of those I have!
The Matchmakers : A True Colors Charity Anthology is chock full of great stories. Stories with great characters and sweet and sexy love stories. A really recommend this anthology if you love short stories that are well written and full of great characters.
Nine stories with chapters ranging from 6 to 15 chapters and some with epilogues. I think it's a great recommendation for readers who don't like to stop mid read seeing as how each novellas takes around an hour to read. Scroll through this review for small recaps and spoilers for each story. I liked all the novellas. I would say my top 3 are Three Lost Now Found, Strike A Match, and Always The Matchmaker. I have a thing for studious men with glasses 💜 I also love why this anthology came to be and what this anthology supports. If you have a moment I encourage you to research the True Colors United foundation and what they stand for and if there is someway you'd like to be apart of it.
Bachelor Number One by Isla Olsen
Sutton is an ex NFL football player who turns bachelor reality tv star for a promised hefty donation to his charity. This celebrity football star has a secret that is a contradiction to his new bachelor role. He hasn't come out yet. He's more nervous and insecure compared to his love interest Blair, the tv host of A Match Made In Heaven. The opposite of Sutton, Blair is very deliberate and confident. With the quick paced novella, there's no need to worry about Sutton having to kiss or be intimate with the women contestants while Blair has to watch from the sidelines. Very quickly into the show Sutton calls his PR manager and has her find a way to release him from the show. Blair and Sutton claim their HEA within four weeks and luckily Blair keeps his job, Sutton gets to keep the donation, and they both get to keep each other. 5 stars.
Ewe and Me by Colette Davison
George is a surly yet equally precious farm owner whose cheeks flush at the slightest innuendo. His older sister Maggie is the county vet and recent matchmaker. Robyn is new to town, fabulous and a newly certified vet who works for Maggie. Despite their mutual attraction neither George nor Robyn are willing to make an advance because George is shy and unsure while Robyn feels it inappropriate to make a move on his boss's brother. Luckily Maggie intervenes like Cupid orchestrating a date for them both causing them to fall into their very sweet HEA. 4.5 stars
The Perfect Match by Em Denning
A friends to lovers novella and the shortest in the anthology. Cody is the matchmaker who is tasked with setting his best friend up with the perfect match like he's done with all their other friends. Justin, the best friend, is oblivious to Cody's long term pining and affection. Cody sets Justin on a blind date, but the kicker is that there is no date. Well, there is but it's Cody who shows up. Both Cody and Justin go back and forth in their inner monologue full of denial but in the end they both realize they're the perfect match for one another. 4.5 stars
Always the Matchmaker by Ashlynn Mills
The sweetest fake boyfriend trope. Emmett is the shy and cute librarian who can set other people up with their perfect match but can't seem to find his own. He meets Julian, the dark sexy carpenter who drops off his sister's unwanted books as a donation at the library. Julian is immediately drawn to Emmett. But he has a secret job that could ruin his chance with the clumsy and quirky librarian. You'll meet Pete the entitled snobby brother of Emmett because that secret job of Julian's? Yeah, he's a boyfriend for hire. And that's exactly what Pete hires Julian for. It doesn't take Emmett long to discover something is off with Julian and Pete. Which is so lucky for him, because Julian and Emmett are a perfect match. 5 stars
Three Lost Now Found by Michelle Dare
Danny (Diesel) is the reserved one. Hale (Sierra) is the outgoing one. Both are talented dancers at Untouchable. Simon is one of the body guards tasked to keep them safe at work. Hale and Danny have been friends for a long time. They've also had eyes for each another the entire time except there's a problem. Their relationship won't work. Neither can give the other what they need. Someone to possess them. Insert Dexen, the owner of the club they all work at. He's been a successful matchmaker once and he knows he can do it again. Anyone can see how Danny and Hale watch each other longingly but Dexen sees how Simon watches them both too. Determined to make Simon, Hale, and Danny a successful relationship Dexen pushes them all in the right direction to the start of their sinfully sweet HEA. I'm bias and don't care who knows it. Michelle is one of my favorite authors and the reason I know and read this anthology. If you look to the stars in the night sky, that's how many stars I rank this novella. If you find you enjoy this story as much as I did, then you should know there's an entire world she's already written with these amazing characters. It starts with Three Ties To Bind featuring Dom, Perry, and Peyton which you've met already. All the stars.
Getting It Right by RS McKenzie
Hudson is the new senior architect who recently moved into town. He works with Rachel, Cal's best friend. Rachel has made it her life mission to find the right partner for Cal because that's what he did for her many years ago. She's tried multiple times but hasn't got it right before until now. Callum is the sweetest animator around but that sweetest doesn't dampen his quick wit or sexy charm. Both Cal and Husdon hit it off immediately and feel the forceful pull of attraction but have both recently gotten out of long term relationships due to partners infidelity. Surprised by a mutual friend of his ex's to a wedding, Hudson agrees to go and quickly volunteers Cal to be his date and names him his boyfriend. Callum, thinking Hudson might be using him to show off to his cheating ex, Henry, agrees to go and jokes that he's a pretend boyfriend. Neither Hudson nor Cal have the courage to correct the pretend boyfriend term even though they both want a serious relationship with one another. By the end of the weekend wedding getaway, neither can contain their admissions of love and readily confess their feelings. While many of those around them are getting married, they're not ready for that yet, but they are ready to love each other and live together. 4.5 stars
Strike A Match by T.H. Compton
Richard, a 50 year old bowling alley owner, is stuck in his ways and isn't keen on change. His friend Cleo eventually talks him into letting her host a charity LBGTQ+ mixer for people to meet and mingle. Leo is a 33 year old timid a comic creator determined to get out of his house and attend the matchmaker mixer to hopefully meet the man of his dreams. As luck would have it, Leo's match bailed and with coaxing from Cleo, Richard agrees to step in as Leo's date. They bond over bowling. Leo finds that Richard is kind and helpful and he doesn't judge or laugh at Leo. Richard finds himself truly enjoying his date despite not wanting to host the mixer in the first place and also not being meant to be someone's date. This novella doesn't have a specific HEA but it is implied and honestly one of my favorite stories in this anthology. 5 stars.
Game. Set. Match. by B. Harmony
This story doesn't have a matchmaker. It has matchmakers. Beckett and Ansen have been college roommates along with another handful of men for years. Beck has the absolute worse dating record and Ansen isn't sure he wants a relationship with his hectic football and college schedule. Their friends and roommates notice the looks shared between Beck and Ansen even if they're not aware they do it. Determined to get the two men to see what they could be to one another the roommates all plan to go to a hockey game. At the last minute everyone bails leaving Ansen and Beck to enjoy the game together. The game leads to a kissing cam, which leads to eyes and hearts opening, and ends with a super sweet HEA. Ansen is everything Beckett has been missing and Beck is the perfect match for Ansen. The ending was so cute and funny. 5 stars for making me laugh
If The Trap Fits by Gianni Holmes
I definitely suggest reading the trigger warnings before reading this story. If you can't handle a bully trope please don't read this. 10 years ago Troy was a picked on 'nerd' and one of his bullies was Maddix. Unknown to their peers, Troy and Maddix were actually together in a relationship but that all changed when Maddix betrays Troy in the worse way and becomes a real bully to him embarrassing him in front of the school, pushing him and breaking his glasses. Declining to stay with him even in secret, Troy then gets the full force of Maddix's bullying. Troy swore to never be with Maddix again and after graduation he leaves for college and refuses to return home. Present day, his mischievous great Aunt Gladys manages to coax Troy home to visit her. The once weak and timid boy is gone and in his place is a stronger confident Troy. But he isn't the only one who has changed. Maddix regrets every thing he's done and there is so much groveling. Maddix and Evan, another bully, make sincere apologies for their actions. Within his 2 week visit back home, Maddix and Aunt Gladys, sell the perfect pitch and convince Troy to move back home for good so he and Maddix have the perfect HEA. 5 stars

This anthology was a little underwhelming, but I did enjoy a few of the stories! I've put individual star-ratings and my thoughts for each story below.
I picked this up because another anthology totally spoiled me (THIS ONE!) and now I’m on a kick of wanting short, delicious little bites of entertainment to read. Although honestly, I almost skipped this one since the matchmaking premise doesn’t really do it for me and none of the contributing authors are ones I’ve enjoyed before (some new-to-me, some I’ve read and found “meh”), but now that I’m through it, I’m not mad that I did. So… here we go!
👍 BACHELOR NUMBER ONE by Isla Olsen ⭐⭐⭐ 3 STARS. This is a new-to-me author, and while the story itself felt rushed in that way that so many shorts and novellas do (and, disappointingly, cut off rather abruptly without even a real HFN), I did enjoy it. I’m not usually a fan of closeted characters, but since that wasn’t a real plot point in terms of Sutton’s emotional investment in the relationship, it didn’t bother me here. Of course, “emotional investment” might be overstating it, since - again - the story was rushed enough that that had to be inferred since it was totally absent on page, but still, not a bad start to the anthology.
👍 EWE AND ME by Colette Davison ⭐⭐⭐ 3 STARS. Cute but bland. I’ve tried this author before and generally determined she wasn’t for me, but I’m not mad that I read this one. It was sweet enough, there was simply no real conflict or story to the story. Or I guess I can say that the matchmaking premise of the anthology seemed to be the entire plot? Opposites-attract (a trope I like), grumpy-sunshine (another trope I like), size difference (another trope I like) all sound great… but then the whole story is just that they get set up and then admit their feelings, fuck, and live happily ever after? Like I said, it was… fine.
👍 THE PERFECT MATCH by EM Denning ⭐⭐⭐ 3 STARS. This is the one author out of this bunch whose books I’ve really enjoyed before, so I had higher hopes for this one. It’s a friends-to-lovers premise, but… eh. It was fine? Maybe it’s just personal preference, but I didn’t love and for me at least, that sort of took the shine off of this one. Purely a personal preference for the kind of romance that does it for me, but I just don’t enjoy characters who are 🤷♀️ "It's not you; it's me."
👎 ALWAYS THE MATCHMAKER by Ashlynn Mills --- DNF/No rating. I DNF’d this 8 chapters into a 10-chapter short. The premise of the guy who’s supposedly into him being introduced as his brother’s boyfriend already sounded pretty sketch to me, but I was willing to see if the author could make me believe it could work. And for the most part, she did when it came to Julian’s reasons and the situation. I also started out really liking shy, nerdy Emmett, because that type of character is TOTALLY my jam. But once they started hooking up I actually stopped feeling it. Looking for emotional investment in a short story seems to be asking a lot, and IMHO very few of the stories in this anthology pulled it off. This one wasn’t one of them. Both Julian’s and Emmett’s personalities felt totally inconsistent from how they were presented in the beginning to how they started to act once they began getting together, and life is too short to read books where you stop liking or caring about the characters, so I quit.
👎 THREE LOST NOW FOUND by Michelle Dare --- DNF/No rating. I rarely like M/M/M stories but did give this one a try for a hot second. I ended up DNF’ing at the start of chapter 2. 🤷♀️ "It's not you; it's me."
👍 GETTING IT RIGHT by RS McKenzie ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 STARS. This was the first legitimately happy surprise of the anthology for me! A new-to-me author and a very sweet story that I genuinely enjoyed. Hudson and Callum were great together, and even though the “conflict” - such as it was - felt a little contrived and might have annoyed me in a longer story (and I’m talking about the ), the overall sweetness and honesty of these two together made it work for me in this context. I’m looking forward to checking out more of this author’s work!
👍 STRIKE A MATCH by T.H. Compton ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 STARS. This was such a pleasant surprise! First, because I tried to read this author’s debut a while ago and had to DNF it, so wasn’t expecting much. Second, because - despite being poorly edited to a degree that was almost annoying - I smiled BIG TIME throughout basically every page of this story, just really loving the characters and their sweetness. I also love the premise of anyone swooping in to save someone else from feeling abandoned, and even though, in this case (and in line with the series’ premise) Richard only does that at his friend’s urging, I just… 🥰 *happy sigh* I loved how adorkable Leo was and how sweet Richard was and how happy this little story made me. Definitely my favorite of the bunch, and I might just go back and give some of the author’s other books a try now, too!
👍 GAME, SET, MATCH by B. Harmony ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 STARS. This was another really pleasant surprise! A new-to-me author that I will definitely be looking for more books from. The story was friends-to-lovers and very sweet. In this case, Ansen’s cluelessness did work for me, since it was obvious that, despite that, he’d been falling for Beckett all along. Plus, I will always be here for the attentive love interest who notices and acts on all the little things to make his man happy (e.g. knowing how he takes his coffee, etc.) 🥰
👎 IF THE TRAP FITS by Gianni Holmes ⭐⭐⭐ 2.5 STARS, ROUNDED UP. I almost skipped this one entirely since I’ve avoided a lot of this author’s books as the premises don’t appeal to me, and actively DNF’d a previous one. More importantly, I really, really hate the trope of bully romance and have so far managed to avoid it completely. But there have also been a couple of this author’s books that I did enjoy, so I gave it a shot. As it turns out, I was right about hating bully romance, and no amount of justification - or at least, not the amount present in this short story - gets me over that hump. Yes, the author spells out the bully’s reasons. Yes, they’re believable in the context given. And still, I don’t care. I like my characters to fight for their men and put them first, always… and the “love” in this one felt totally inauthentic on the heels of their ten-year separation and the single apology/explanation that Maddix gave Troy. I didn’t DNF, but I should have. Still, I get that there are (apparently) tons of readers who get off on this trope, so I suppose 🤷♀️ "It's not you; it's me."
Hold on tight for 9 sweet, instalove stories!!! I love anthologies because I usually get to read new to me authors, and I am a sucker for intalove.
💕 Bachelor Number One by Isla Olsen is very much on par with her writing. Sutton is a gay, closeted football player. He is ready to come out but he is going to do one last publicity "stunt" for a really good cause. He is going to be the bachelor on a reality show and "date" a group of women. Which, seems sad but fine. However, things go sideways when he literally falls for Blair. Blair is a very out and proud producer of the Match Made In Heaven reality show. The attraction is instant and the chemistry is off the charts. These two are fun and their hea is given with a sweet twist. 4⭐️
💕 Ewe and Me by Collette Davis is downright fun! Collette Davis is new to me so for writing style I didn't know what to expect. This grumpy/sunshine story is sweet. Robyn is a country vet who is new to the area. George is a farmer whose sister is Robyn's boss. George's sister creates an elaborate hoax to get these two on a date and the rest is history, as they say. 3.5 ⭐️
💕 The Perfect Match by EM Denning is a best friends to lovers story. I was excited to read this one as I am a fan of EM Denning and will read ALL B2L stories. Cody is in love with his best friend, Justin. Justin wants to find the love of his life and since Cody has been successful with their friends he wants Cody to play matchmaker for him. Oh! What's a friend to do??? Set up a fake date and then have the guy no show and the two bffs go out with the hope that Justin will realize Cody is perfect. When the clueless one finally figures out what their feelings meant all along is the best. 4 ⭐️
💕 Always the Matchmaker by Ashlynn Mills is another new to me author and another super fun story. Always the matchmaker and never the match. Julian is a fake boyfriend for hire and is hired by Emmett's brother for a wedding date. What Julian doesn't expect is seeing the man of his dreams at the wedding, let alone the man being his fake boyfirend's brother. When things hit the fan, Emmett and Julian have to come clean but the reward is well worth it. 4 ⭐️
💕 Three Lost Now Found by Michelle Dare is set in the Untouchable. Danny (Diesel) is a stripper, Hale (Sierra) is a stripper, and Simon is the gaurd at Untouhable. Danny and Hale are too much alike to be able to follow through on their love so they stay in the friend zone, happily but still pining. Both are attracted to Simon but both feel he wouldn't like them back so no one pursues anyone. Cue the mathcmaker. The owner of the club helps to set them all on the path to their hea. 4 ⭐️
💕 Getting It Right by RS McKenzie is a story of what should be obvious being messed up in the guise of "I thought this was for the best." Hudson is new to town and set up by his co-worker with her best friend, Callum. They decide to go the fake boyfriend route, even though at this point they are both in love with each other, to make Hudson's ex see that Hudson has moved on. This story is delightful and fun. 3.5 ⭐️
💕 Strike a Match by T.H. Compton is another super sweet story. This is an age gap story of Richard, a bowling alley owner helping his friend by being the last minute date for a gentleman at her matchmaking event. Leo is an artist and a real sweetheart. These two are cute and Richard coming to terms with Leo being into him fully even though there is about a twenty year age gap is lovely. T.H. Compton is a new to me author and I liked their writing style. 3.5 ⭐️
💕 Game Set Match by B. Harmony is the story of Beckett and Ansen. Roommates in college they are very close. So close they don't see what is right in front of them. So, their roommates decide to set them up on a date. Kisses happen and whoa things are confusing for them. This is another friends to lovers. These two are cute as hell! B. Harmony is a new to me author and I enjoyed this story so much I will definitely be checking out their books.5⭐️
💕 If the Trap Fits by Gianna Holmes is a pseudo-friends to lovers to enemies to lovers story. Troy and Maddix are lovers but Maddix wants it kept quiet. Troy is bullied horribly by Maddix's friends in high school and instead of stepping in stopping it, Maddix becomes the bully. Troy leaves at 18. He makes a life for himself in Atlanta but she convinces him to return. Maddix has changed and is beyond sorry for his behavior. He just needs Troy to give him a chance to explain. There is a lot to overcome but their story is truly beautiful. 5⭐️
I am so thankful to have the chance to read the Matchmakers Anthology. The purchase of this book helps fund a donation to True Colors United.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book...Overall anthology was great...Individual reviews of each novella below:
BACHELOR NUMBER ONE by Isla Olsen 3.5 Stars
Not sure I would call this a matchmaker romance more of a spicy hookup with a more or less HFN...no declaration of love...just a hot attraction to one another. This was a hot read to start this anthology off...
EWE AND ME by Colette Davison 4.5 Stars
A cute grump/sunshine matchmaker romance. George needed someone to brighten up his lonely life and Robyn was definitely the man he needed. Very sweet with a little heat with a wonderful HEA.
THE PERFECT MATCH by EM Denning 4 Stars
Best friends to lovers at it's best. Cody and Justin was adorable. It's always entertaining but sometimes frustrating to have one friend be totally clueless of the other friends feelings/crush. Well... when a matchmaker date (set up by Cody) tanked, Justin has to deal with some hard truths about his best friend. OMG was it a HOT revelation...you gotta read and see:)
ALWAYS THE MATCHMAKER by Ashlynn Mills 4 Stars
Julian and Emmet was that opposites attract couple. Eventhough this matchmaker romance was kind of messy due to the circumstances Julian was in (due to Emmet's hot mess of a brother), I enjoyed reading. Their chemistry couldn't be denied. They had a lovely HEA. NICE!
Three Lost Now Found by Michelle Dare - did not read...not a big fan of MMM or MMMM romances
Getting It Right by RS McKenzie 5 Stars
All I will say is...That was the BEST first, blind and matchmaker date EVER!...Throughout their date I was in the feels and cheering them on (grinning like a loon...LOL) Hudson and Cal relationship afterwards was close to perfect and wonderful as two people can get. Just so freaking adorable and absolutely HOT! Loved their HEA...So far I liked this matchmaker romance out of the anthology the best and hated to see it end...
Strike a Match by T.H. Compton 4 stars
A cute matchmaker romance. When Richard is forced to take the place of Leo's no show match, sparks fly and bowling shenanigans begin. A little quirky with a little heat. Ending was OK but I would have liked a little bit more to their story. A definite HFN and not a HEA.
Game, Set, Match by B. Harmony 5 Stars
Friends to Lovers...Absolutely LOVED it! Such a fun read. Normally I don't read too many college bros romances because I don't get much out of it other than horny young people with unnecessary drama but this one...awww mannnnn...so entertaining. The premise was great...friends that are housemates matchmaking their two clueless friends. Hilarious shenanigans...fun non date...sweet and steamy kisses...some awkward but sweet communication moments...a for real fun date and very satisfying HFN ending...start to finish entertainment...LOVED it!
If the Trap Fit by Gianni Holmes 4 Stars
I love a really good redemption romance and this was a good one. Throw in a meddling matchmaker great aunt and it was worth the read. That prologue tho was brutal...I'm not sure how Troy was able to do it...but it takes a strong person to forgive and him willing to give Maddix a second chance...well that was wonderful. Lovely ending...I enjoyed it.
I thought this was a good collection of insta-lust/love stories and it’s great that all the proceeds made from the sale of this Anthology go to the True Colors United charity which helps implement solutions to youth homelessness, focused mainly on the experiences of LGBTQ+ youth. I’ve done a seperate review for each book, which are listed below:
Bachelor Number One by Isla Olsen - I‘ve been a fan of Isla Olsen’s ages. I enjoyed this book. Sutton, a recently retired closeted NFL player who was planning to come out when he retired, but he was offered a large sum of money to be the next bachelor on Match Made in Heaven reality dating show and date multiple women to try and find his perfect match. He’s going to stay in the closet a little longer as the money will help boost the charity that he’s founded. When he meets the host Blair, the tension between them is undeniable. They were great together and their chemistry was completely off the charts, as well as hot as hell.
Ewe & Me by Colette Davison - I’ve read and enjoyed a few of Colette Davison’s books. I enjoyed this book. Robyn is the new country vet and an absolute sweetheart. George a farmer, and Robyn’s boss Maggie’s brother. He was instantly intrigued by Robyn as he just brightens his day. George is Robyn’s complete opposite as he’s a total grump. Maggie decides to set them up by telling George that she wants him to help setup a romantic dinner for her and her husbands anniversary. I thought Robyn and George were cute together. This is an opposites attract story.
The Perfect Match by EM Denning - This is the first book that I’ve read by EM Denning. I thought this was a cute friends to lovers story. Cody is in love with his best friend Justin. Cody has had great success in matchmaking in the past so Justin asks if he can set him up with someone. Cody sets up a fake date and then goes on the date. I thought that they were cute together when they finally got on the same page.
Always the Matchmaker by Ashlynn Mills - This is the first book that I’ve read by Ashlynn Mills. I thought this was an enjoyable read. When Julian shows up as the hired fake boyfriend to a wedding by Emmett’s brother Pete, he never would’ve thought he’d see Emmett, who he’d met previously and found extremely adorable at the wedding, let alone be his brother’s fake date. When Pete is caught in a compromising position with his ex-boyfriend, Emmett and Julian have to come clean about it being fake but something real came out of it between Emmett and Julian. It’s a steamy read that’s for sure.
Review to follow for the remaining books, as listed below once I’ve finished reading them: Three Lost Now Found by Michelle Dare, Getting It Right by RS McKenzie, Strike a Match by TS Compton, Game, Set, Match by B Harmony and If the Trap Fits by Gianni Holmes
I’m looking forward to checking out more books from the authors featured in this Anthology. I’d definitely recommend this collection and each of the authors to everyone.
So adorable! Sutton and Blair are a match made in heaven. An absolute hunk of a retired NFL player and the host of a reality show get together when Sutton is really supposed to be filming with the women. Oops! A short little story that pokes fun at reality tv all while giving us a cute little story.
Ewe and Me By: Collette Davidson
Nothing is better than a little sunshine fabulous meeting his perfect grump!! This is my most favorite trope of them all and Robyn and George made my heart sing.
The Perfect Match By: EM Denning
Justin and Cody. Best friends. Boyfriends? Nope. They’re together often and can finish each other’s thoughts, but Justin has no idea how Cody feels about him. And then he does it, Justin asks Cody to set him up on a date. It takes his date to make Justin see the truth. Him and Cody are the perfect match!
Always the Matchmaker By: Ashlynn Mills
Julian and Emmett. A handsome handyman and part-time for hire date. An adorable, clumsy, shy librarian that likes making love connections for his friends. When they meet the first time, it’s an instant connection. The second meet up comes with a surprise that neither were expecting. A cute read that left me wishing for more.
Three Lost Now Found By: Michelle Dare
Oh my goodness! This story is so sweet. I sat down to read it and wasn’t moving until it was done. Simon was the missing piece, the glue that put together Hale and Danny. Together, the three of them were perfect.
“We were three hearts beating together. Three souls rejoicing. Three men who found love and were never letting go.”
Getting It Right By: RS Mckenzie
What do you do when you’re hurt by an ex and lonely in your new town? You let your work bestie set you up with her bestie! Hudson agrees to the date in hopes it will bring him a new friend. While this could have been awful for Cal, he went with it too, because he knows Rachel has his best interests at heart. What happens next is the sweetest love story!
Strike A Match By: T. H. Compton
Richard is a bowling alley owner who feels stuck in the 70’s. Leo is an artist who has a cartoon strip and makes incredible risque art. They meet at an LGBTQ mixer that Richard’s friend Cleo ropes him into. This is an absolutely sweet and sexy story. It is my first T. H. Compton read if I’m not mistaken and I am over the moon!
Game, Set, Match By: B. Harmony
Oh my gosh!! B made me laugh, smile, aww, all the things!! When two roommates get set up by their housemates, what will happen next? Beck and Ansen are adorable together. This is the cutest little friends to lovers story. I love B. Harmony!
If the Trap Fits By: Gianni Holmes
Is high school actually good for people? I’m just wondering as Maddix was a bully and Troy was a lover turned victim. This is a redemption story for Maddix and a story of forgiveness and letting go for Troy. It was from beginning to end beautiful and sexy. I’m so glad that this is my first Gianni Holmes story. It is a solid read.
A great value anthology of short stories around the theme of matchmaking as in all of these instalove style stories someone played matchmaker.
Bachelor Number One by Isla Olsen - 4* Sutton is a gay football player who is not out of the closet yet. To raise funds for a charity his last straight appearance is to be the bachelor on a reality show and date a number of women. This goes wrong when he falls for Blair the host of the programme. Lots of attraction and spice.
Ewe and Me by Collette Davison - 4* Country vet Robyn is new and works for farmer George's sister. She sets them up using a couple of ruses so that they have a date. Grumpy/sunshine with some passion too.
The Perfect Match by EM Denning - 3* Cody is in love with is best friend Justin. Justin wants Cody to be matchmaker for him to find his love andto he sets up a fake date and so when the guy doesn't show Cody takes him out instead. A sweet best friends to lovers story.
Always the Matchmaker by Ashlynn Mills - 3* Julian is a fake boyfriend hired by Emmett's brother for a wedding but he meets the man of his dreams and he just happens to be Emmett. They do have to come clean as there are confused people around them.
Three Lost Now Found by Michelle Dare - 4* Danny (Diesel) and Hale (Sierra) are strippers in Untouchable. Although they love each other they are not sexually compatible so stay in the friend zone. Simon is attracted to them both and so the matchmake in this story arrange for them to date so they can become a throuple.
Getting It Right by RS McKenzie - 3* Hudson is new to town and set up by a co-worker with her best friend Callum. I found this story a little strange but did enjoy it.
Strike a Match by T.H. Compton - 4* Richard owns a bowling alley and steps in last minute for his friend when one person doesn't show to a matchmaking event. Artist Leo and Richard hit is off even though they have an age gap. A nice story.
Game Set Match by B. Harmony - 5* Bates and Ansen are college roomates who can't see tha tthey are perfect together. Their roomatesset them up and finally it becomes clear to them that they are each other's perfect mach. A sweet friends to lovers story.
If the Trap Fits by Gianna Holmes 5* Troy and Maddix are lovers but Maddix wants to keep it quiet. roy was bullied badly by Maddix's friends in high school and Maddix did not stop it but instead became hismain bully. Years later Maddix is different and eants to apologise and have a second chance. This was a sweet story that will make you cry at times. Definitely a great example of this author's writing.
All of the stories were pretty good but the first and last one were by far the best! Bachelor Number One - loved this one, but then again everything Isla Olsen writes is pretty much gold. Former closeted football player is ready to "come out" but has a chance to do a love match show (think the Bachelor) with a huge amount of money going to his charity which is near and dear to him. No problem, he's faked it for years, so what's another few weeks? One tiny problem - he is instantly attracted to the shows host (who happens to be a gay man). Football player (retired) Closeted gay athlete
Ewe and Me - super sweet, love story - set up by the farmer's sister who is also the vet's boss. Not spicy but lots of love, love, love. “I think you’ve got a one-track mind.” "I do. The record called George is playing on repeat. It’s a very nice track. A bit gruff around the edges, but the melody is strong, and the bass makes my heart thrum.” Farmer and a vet Grumpy / Sunshine Size difference
The Perfect Match -best friends to lovers - one best friend has a huge crush on the other, but the other one is clueless. Very sweet, happy ending. Rather short. Would have liked a bit more to the story.
Always the Matchmaker - kind of cute - a rent-a-date man falls in love with the wrong brother. It was a bit predictable but still cute. Not very spicy.
Three Lost Now Found -MMM - two male dancers and a bodyguard. Happy ending with the three of them.
Getting it Right - sweet story. Blind date - Callum and Hudson are set up by Callum's best friend/Hudson's coworker. It's a love match right from the beginning. A tiny bit of drama with an ex. but there's never any doubt these wind up together.
Strike A Match - this was a sweet age gap love story - blind date at a matchmaking event. Bowling alley owner fills in a the last minute when someone doesn't show. He is paired with a much younger, quirky little cartoonist. And they are a match! Very short but a nice story.
Game, Set, Match - friends /roommates who are perfect for each other but are both oblivious. Their friends and fellow roommates arrange for them to get together. Best friends to lovers. Two college athletes.
If The Trap Fits - Strong one to end with! High school bad boy is secretly gay and crushes on the nerd. They hook up, but then bad boy bullies him. Ten years later, they are together again. The bad boy is reformed, but the nerd is still unsure. Love this trope so much! Nerd / Jock, Good/Bad
It doesn't count as "skipping" already-downloaded-TBR if it's a book from an author/authors I already love and follow when my current goal is catching up on favorite authors. "The Matchmakers" is an MM charity anthology. All royalties will be donated to the True Colors United charity. I haven't read the full thing, but I did read about 25-40% of it, focusing on the authors I love the mostest.
Isla Olsen: "Bachelor Bumber One" ["After ten years in the NFL the last thing I want is to be a part of a reality show, and especially not a show that involves women fawning all over me. But they’re offering to give a huge donation to my charity and I can’t turn that down, so I prepare to just suck it up, slap on a smile, and survive the two weeks of being drooled over before announcing that I can’t possibly decide between the girls because they’re all too perfect. But then I get to the mansion and meet the host. And now I’m the one drooling. It’s going to be a long two weeks…"]
E.M. Denning: "The Perfect Match" ["I have a knack for finding the perfect person for my friends. With a few successful matches under my belt, it’s only natural that people ask me to find someone for them. But I never dreamed my best friend would ask me to find him someone. At least, I hoped he would never ask because I’m stupidly in love with him. I can’t stomach the thought of finding him someone else when I know I’m his perfect match. So I do what any other best friend would do in this circumstance. I lie."]
R.S. McKenzie: "Getting It Right" ["My best friend has been setting me up with men for years, intent on seeing me happily coupled-up like she is. After some missteps, she sets me up with Hudson, her sweet and handsome new coworker. I’ve never hit it off with a guy so fast. Hudson asks me to come to a wedding—as his boyfriend—where his cheating ex is the best man. I’m down to help and I have to wonder: Did my BFF finally get it right and find me the man of my dreams?"]
A great eclectic group of sweet and spicy matchmaking stories. I enjoyed almost every single one of them. It’s definitely worth the read, there’s a little something for everyone, in my opinion. -Bachelor Number One by Isla Olsen: Insanely great chemistry, interesting storyline with a happy ending I absolutely loved. -Ewe and Me by Colette Davison: Definitely in my top three of this anthology. So sweet, great romance and lots of cute animals getting names. Great opposites attract and grumpy/sunshine dynamic. Loved it. -The Perfect Match by EM Denning: Adorable best friends to lovers. I tricky little matchmaker sets himself up with the bff he’s been in love with. Short and sweet. -Always the Matchmaker by Ashlynn Mills: DNF -Three Lost Now Found by Michelle Dare: This one was good. Two dancers finding what they’ve been missing in a bodyguard from their club. -Getting It Right by RS McKenzie: This one was my favorite. It reminded me of my husband and I getting together. These two MCs had incredible chemistry and it was a joy to watch the beginning of their love story. -Strike a Match by TH Compton: This one was very cute. An older gruff bowler and a younger nerdy artist fall for one another. Finding what they’ve been missing in their lives in one another. -Game, Set, Match by B Harmony: Definitely in my top favorites of this book. Clueless idiots that have no idea they are in love with each other, some meddling roommates and an amazing first date that catches their brains up with their hearts. They were a bit neurotic about the change in the relationship dynamic but it was great when they got over that. -If The Trap Fits by Gianni Holmes: Great story. Maddix was a big dummy in the past; his heart was in the right place but he went about it the completely wrong way. Good on Troy for getting over the past and seeing they were perfect for each other. Very big of him.
These stories are chock full of meddling family members and best friends and happily ever afters and I just loved that so much.
I haven’t been able to read all of the books in this collection yet but I’ve loved the ones that I have and I’m looking forward to reading the others soon.
Ewe and Me by Colette Davison is a very sweet grumpy/sunshine story. George is a farmer and Robyn is a veterinarian who works for George’s sister. George has been attracted to Robyn since they first met but thought it would be wrong to date his sister’s employee. Robyn felt the same, that it would be wrong to date his employer’s brother. Fortunately, someone played matchmaker for them. 🥰 I loved this story. 5 Stars
Three Lost Now Found by Michelle Dare is the first story I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed it. It’s a hot menage story about two club dancers, who love each other but aren’t good matches sexually, and the club’s guard who brings all three of them together. It’s super-hot and sexy. 4 Stars
If the Trap Fits by Gianni Holmes broke my heart during the Prologue but I knew there would be an HEA. This is a bullying story so there is a content warning for mention of bullying in the past and also parental abuse. I love stories where a bad guy gets redemption. This one starts out when the two MCs are in high school (the Prologue) and then moves to present day set ten years later. Maddix is truly sorry for the things he did to Troy in high school. Troy left home after graduation and has only returned for short visits until his grandaunt decides to play matchmaker. He doesn’t want to have anything to do with Maddix but then it wouldn’t be a romance if Troy doesn’t eventually forgive him. I loved this story. 5 Stars
The Matchmakers is a charity anthology that I was very happy to support buy purchasing a copy even though I received an advanced copy to review.
I love anthologies as they provide me with short reads to keep me going between big reads, introduce me to new authors and help support well deserving charities.
This one definitely did not disappoint, I found several new authors who will be added to my ever growing list of favourites and met new characters that I hope to see more of in the future.
Isla Olsen left me wanting so much more from Sutton and Blair. Sutton an ex NFL player who agrees to do a reality tv show in order to add funds to his charity and Blair the larger than life host who captures Suttons attention from the very first meet make a perfect couple. Blair sees the real Sutton and is willing to make sacrifices to let him be himself on his own timeline.
Ewe and me by Colette Davison introduced us to a big grumpy farmer and a sunshine twink of a vet and a serious case of opposites attract. With the help of a meddling sister they have a perfect date even with a certain sheep stealing the show, which quickly leads into another and soon Robyn is moving into the farm house and watching his grumpy farmer mother baby quail 😍
I loved Michelle Dare’s found family vibes in Three lost now found and I need to go and read all those MMM stories 🖤
B. Harmony offered a perfect friends to lovers story with Game, Set and Match and I really want to see more of the meddling friends.
Gianni Holmes’ If the trap fits is a second chance enemies to lovers story and offers great character development in Maddix who is ready to atone for his bullying behaviour in high school and recapture is first love.
There honestly wasn’t a story I didn’t enjoy reading and a really great mix of genres to suit a variety of moods, which is much appreciated as a mood reader.
Sutton and Blair's romance was so cute and satisfying! I loved the concept of Sutton getting roped into a dating show to raise money for his charity, and his connection with Blair felt genuine from the very beginning. I'll admit I wasn't expecting them to get physical so fast, but their chemistry was too potent to resist. I was also hoping for a bit more dating show drama/plot, but even without it I still thought the ending was so freaking cute. Such a fun story to kick off the anthology!
Ewe and Me by Colette Davison (5/5 stars)
I love a good grumpy/sunshine pairing, and Robyn and George were particularly adorable. As a farmer, George spent a lot of long days alone, but Robyn's vet work brought him out to the farm enough for me to see the sparks forming between them. I honestly don't think either man would have ever acted on their crush, so when they were set up on a romantic date I was excited to see where the night would take them. Their conversations that night felt really natural, and despite their opposite personalities it was clear they were very into each other. I was expecting their night to end in a bit of fun and then see where things went, but during the night more than one minor emergency popped up that they had to tackle together. I enjoyed the added depth those surprises added to the overall story, and I was very satisfied with the ending!
**I voluntarily read an ARC of this anthology. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
This anthology is a well-curated collection of stories that explore the theme of matchmaking from different perspectives. The stories are captivating and engaging, and the variety of writing styles and POVs prevents them from becoming monotonous or repetitive.
What to expect: * Entertaining, easy-to-read, fast-paced, feel-good, and well-written stories with simple and predictable plots, HEA endings, and no angst, complex issues, or drama. * Plots are straightforward, built around a common theme, such as love at first sight, best friends falling in love, or total opposites finding common ground. * Fast-paced, entertaining, romantic, and captivating storytelling. * Uncomplicated, easy-to-like, and relatable characters.
What NOT to expect: * Stories that delve into emotional struggles or complex, dark themes. * A wide range of emotional drama or characters with complex layers.
While rating this book, I considered the limitations imposed by the length of the stories, which makes it challenging to cover complex issues or emotions in depth. Despite this, the authors have delivered compelling, enjoyable, easy-to-read, and entertaining stories with enough character development to keep readers engaged.
Disclaimer: This review is an independent and genuine reflection of my thoughts on the book, which I received as an Advance Reader Copy (ARC).
I do like that there's a good amount of stories for the price and it was for charity, so I think it's worth getting.
1. Isla Olsen = 2.5
Ex football player who is gay but in the closet gets guilted by his staff into being on a matchmaker reality show much like the Bachelor. His pay would be a huge donation to charity which works to convince him cause he grew up poor. The host of the show is also gay and sparks fly instantaneously.
The characters were cute but I'm not a fan of deception under any circumstances and I hate reality shows in general. This for me felt too close to a certain real life bachelor and I couldn't get into it. It also was way too short and skipped pivotal info/situations. It's a no from me but that's just me.
Troy and Maddix were secretly together in high school. That all stopped the day Maddix's bully friends went after Troy and Maddix not only participated but was the main one attacking Troy. They never spoke again and Troy moved away for 10 years. His elderly aunt convinced him to come visit her for just a couple weeks and Maddix happens to be their next door neighbor.
I loved these 2 characters and their present tense interactions. It was fun and sweet. I also really loved the meddling elderly aunt. I just couldn't rate it any higher cause I couldn't let go of the fact that what was brushed off as simple bullying was actually assault on a lover and although Maddix gave an excuse that was believable, it still wasn't forgiveable. The premise of falling in love with someone who physically assaulted u is just absurd to me. I would need a much lighter toned prologue to make this book work for me.
This anthology contains a collection of stories from ten different authors, and offers a nice range of styles and tropes across the board. There’s plenty to like about each individual tale, and overall the anthology makes for an enjoyable read. My personal favorites include:
“Game Set Match:” Beckett and Ansen are super cute. A bit oblivious, but ridiculously likable and clearly good together and for each other. I like roomates-to-lovers as a trope, and these two were charming as heck the whole way through.
“Ewe and Me:” Grumpy/sunshine, when it’s good, is great, and Robyn and George have plenty of chemistry. There’s sweetness and connection and an interesting plot underlying the way they get together (vague here, because spoilers are the worst).
“The Perfect Match:” Friends-to-lovers is a classic for a reason, and this story brings the trope to life with the help of a few others— fake date? An oblivious one and a pining one? Check and check, and charmingly written.
Tl;dr: this is a solid collection of stories, well worth checking out.

Bachelor number one - Isla Olsen I like the authors writing but this was way too short. The PR Lady had an idea and then bam epilogue. And then it was telling not showing. The end.
Ewe and me - skipped this one
The perfect match EM Denning Bit boring tbh. I like her other work.
Always the matchmaker - Ashlynn Mills Good one-one MC has a bit of a boundary problem
Three lost, now found -Michelle Dare Read the rest of the series, this was way too easy. No real drama. Okay story.
Getting it right - RS McKenzie Best one in this anthology
Strike a match - TH Compton - skipped this one
If the trap fits - Gianni Holmes I like the authors writing but for the trope I’m bad at forgiving and I can hold a grudge like it’s no one’s business. So I liked the story but I’m not one for bully redemption
I think I just don’t like anthologies very much. 🤷♀️
I love reading Author Anthologies because it lets me read from new authors. I specifically got this book because of Isla Olsen.
"Bachelor Number One" is about Sutton, a gay football player living in the closet on the cusp of coming out. He decides to undertake one last PR "stunt," participating as the bachelor on a reality dating show with a group of women, all for a noble cause. What should be a straightforward endeavor takes an unexpected turn when he genuinely falls for Blair.
Blair, an openly proud reality show producer, becomes the unexpected object of Sutton's affection. Their connection is instantaneous, and their chemistry is nothing short of explosive. The narrative is delightful and offers a heartwarming twist to their happily ever after.
The Matchmakers Multi Author Anthology Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶🌶
The Matchmakers is an LGBTQ+ charity anthology which includes ten authors. 100% of the proceeds will go to the True Colors United charity, a non-profit organization which focuses on providing solutions of homelessness for LGBT youths.
I’ll preempt this by saying, I read this for Isla Olsen, but enjoyed it as a whole. I love Isla’s writing style and this was no exception. I loved the concept of the male lead of a show like The Bachelor coming out on the show and falling for a member of the crew. It was like blending The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochran with Colton Underwood’s coming out.
Seriously go pick up a copy of this book. It’s great and it helps an amazing cause
There's not a bad apple in the bunch and while I've read something (or everything) previously by eight of these authors, it was great to read something from a new to me author, Michelle Dare. I absolutely love these collections - not only do you get great reads, but you also get to support great charities!
This is the perfect book to take on your autumn getaway (or spring if you're in that part of the world) because each story is quick and easy to read with at least a HFN, so you can pick it up and put it down around all your vacation adventures!
Nine short stories, full of cute moments and lovely characters. There are a few ones that i'd love to read as a full book! I discovered a lot of new authors that I'm going to check out 😂
🔹 Bachelor number one by Isla Olsen 🔹 Ewe and me by Colette Davison 🔹 The perfect march by EM Denning 🔹 Always the matchmaker by Ashlynn Mills 🔹 Three lost now found by Michelle Dare 🔹 Getting it right by RS McKenzie 🔹 Strike a match by TH Compton 🔹 Game, ser, match by B Harmony 🔹 If the trap fits by Gianni Holmes
A solid, sexy lgbtq+ romance anthology that features 10 amazing authors who all came together to raise money for a very serious and very important cause…homelessness in lgbtq+ youth.
First and foremost, ALL proceeds will go to the charity. Period.
Now for the “fun” part…
…all the authors add their voices to these stories. I’ve read a few authors before but at least half were new to me and I’m so glad I’ve discovered a new group of authors to add to my ever growing TBR pile.
The Matchmakers Anthology has stories from 9 amazing authors including Isla Olsen, Colette Davison, E M Denning, Ashlynn Mills, Gianni Holmes and 4 others. 100% of the proceeds will go to the True Colors United charity, a non-profit organization which focuses on providing solutions of homelessness for LGBT youths. All the amazing stories are about finding love. All the stories are fun quick reads. Each story is fun and unique in its own way. I love the different ways the couples found love. This anthology has enough of the things I like in a story to keep my interest. I would definitely recommend this book.
