fantastic short read , cleo , a beautiful assassin and Ian a mafia boss , when cleo breaks in to ians home to do her job she realises that she knows him from a while back , when shes thinking how different he looks , shes caught ... and a spicy night ensues

Clearly, I'm in the minority here, but I thought this story was filled with so many clichés. I've read other Evie Rose books which I enjoyed, but this one, not so much.

Wonderfully written story about a young assassin and an older Scottish mafia kingpin being brought together for a second time so he could get her and keep her with him forever.
The two met at a masquerade ball, they couldn’t tell each other their names since it wasn’t allowed. They danced and talked until she got a call and had to leave, he tried to follow her but she was too fast. They both thought of the other.
Six months have gone by since the masquerade ball. Her father put her on a job to take out a Scottish mafia kingpin. He winds up capturing her will she was trying to cut his throat so he tied her up. They talk as they talk he tells her ‘if she begs for him he will let her go’ but deep down she doesn’t want that. She winds up giving him oral sex and he gives her oral sex but while he’s giving her oral sex she’s to try to get free before her first orgasm and if not she’s to be his captive, she doesn’t so she’s his captive. They sleep together, her snuggling into him.
It took him four months to find out her name after the masquerade ball was over. He found her and he found out that she was an assassin working for another mafia. He wants to make her his wife, it appeals to him that she’s from his world so she won’t be scared off if he told her how many men he had killed. He’s not going to let her go, she’s his and he’s hers.
He notices she’s awake and they talk as they talk his hand slips down to abdomen, he tells her what she wants to know, they talk for a moment about her trying to kill him. He has never seen anyone as lovely as her. They talk about what to do since she’s his captive. He wants to be her first and only. He carries her to his wardrobe, he wraps her in one of his shirts and as she buttoning and rolling up the sleeves he gets dressed. They go down to the kitchen so he can feed her. Once they get to their second coffee he starts talking about the plan, she starts begging him to take her and afterwards he tells her that she’s free but before anything happens he informs her if he catches her again that he will own her, they talk for a moment, he starts taking off his clothes before she runs. He knows where she’s going and after ten seconds he follows her and at the end he catches her in his bedroom.
They land on the bed and he flips her over as she tries to escape. She hits him a couple of times before he gets her under control. All he can think about is that she’s his. He talks to her for a moment before tearing the shirt she has on open and takes it off of her with her help. They kiss as he settles in between her legs and he thinks about things that could have gone differently before he had sex with her taking her virginity. They start talking as if they're having sex, every word he says at the end he thrusts that much deeper into her. They talk more, not long after she orgasm and not that long after he has his release. They talk about the plan also how to get her father to let them marry but then she informs him about not proposing to her yet after she says that he proposes to her, they talk more before she tells him that she loves him and they kiss.
Four years later he’s making breakfast, he is making porridge acting like he doesn’t know that she’s trying to sneak up to him. The first one to give a kiss wins. He chops a banana to put in the pan before bending down to kiss her head right before she grabs his thigh and kisses his knee. The little girl is in all black and she tells her daddy that she won but he informs her that he did, then scoops her up to put her in her chair for breakfast, he prepares the porridge and gives it to her as her mom comes in. They talk for a moment before talking a little about business. He talks to their daughter about cartoons after breakfast.
He has his wife and daughter, the life that they made together is all that could have ever wanted.
The characters are spectacular, it’s easy to read, and a real page turner. A spicy, steamy romantic happily ever after short story.

When Cleo is tasked with assassinating a mafia boss she doesn’t expect it to be the mysterious man she recently met at an event and has been fantasising about since but that’s exactly what happens. Now she has a decision to make - do her job and continue the lonely life she’s lived as part of her family or pick the man of her dreams Ian.
One of the things I really enjoyed in this short read was the heavy use of Scottish dialect for Ian’s character. It helped not only visualise his voice when he was talking to Cleo (especially the praise) but also imagine his inner monologues as being Scottish too even though they weren’t necessarily written with the dialect. The characterisation of both Cleo and Ian was well done and they fit well together, whilst not massively in-depth about who they were and their pasts it gave enough to understand the lives they live and the world they are from.
For a short read it had plenty of steam and spice - with a virgin fmc, some primal fun, older man, the threat of captivity. It was hot and I definitely recommend it as a quick read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this short book. It may have seemed to have the taste of the traditional mafia storyline initially, but I found the twists to be refreshing and give it a flavor all of its own. With so many out there, that's not such an easy task.
Ian was so much the typical Don figure in how he approached matters. I chucked several times at his processes and how they actually materialized. Cleo was a strong female lead. She had a traditionally male role, yet was excelling above everyone. Because of her rearing, happiness never really factored into her life picture. All that changed the night of the gala.
As the story unfolds, you learn why things were done in certain ways. It was a rather pleasing way to be drawn through the story, and I find myself searching for more of Rose's work in order to continue the experience.
I definarely recommend this book without reservation. I did receive an ARC and hope this voluntary review helps in your search for your next title. Happy Reading 📚

This was a really quick read, but good! I really liked the FMC & MMC. He was super alpha, spoke with a Scottish brogue and cared a great deal. The FMC was bad*ss but a bit soft underneath.
I enjoyed their unusual and dark connection, I just wish we could have read between the masquerade and their reconnection, especially on his side. So much was alluded too, but not enough details.
Loved the steamy scenes, they were fantastic. Recommend if you want to read a steamy shirt with great characters.

I am very glad a came across this author! I have loved each of her book I have read. This one was really good and whilst it wasn't my favourite from this author it was a very good read. I think this was because i was expecting more from the female... her being a hitman but her character was very soft and easy swayed. In saying that I think i also wanted more of an alpha moment with the male. He did have his in control moments but with him being in charge of his family group I wasn't expecting him to be well... as soft as he was. I say this but honestly I think this is just personal preference for me as I liked a good alpha-hole. But I would happily devour another of this authors books as she does know how to write some good heated tension and I love that in my stories!!.

Cleo is an assassin sent to kill a man from another larger mafia group that her father is unhappy with. When Cleo breaks into his house and is just about to slice his neck she realizes that she knows him. He is the man she met a year ago at a masked ball. They shared a dance and she talked his ear off. She didn’t realize they were the same person because this guy did not have a beard. As she was about to strike Ian opened his eye and caught Cleo and told her she was his captive. Weirdly interesting story of an assassin who falls in love with her intended victim. As they struggle Ian admits that he searched for her but did not know her name. Two people who meet and fall in love and then reconnect in unusual circumstances.

I loved the take on a traditional mafia romance, it was really cute. Cleo is 19 years old and instead of being a traditional mafia princess who is locked away and kept out of the family business, she is her father's best assassin. He sends her to kill a rival mafia leader, Ian Abernathy but when she sneaks into his castle, she recognizes him as the masked man she fell in love with at a mafia gathering six months ago. Cleo freezes in her task which gives Ian the chance to disarm her and from there it is a game of chase and sensual submission. Ian has been looking for his girl since the party and he will never let her go. Cute epilogue a few years out with them happily married and a daughter added to their family. I recommend this as a nice little read between larger books

The series name truly does the book justice: Filthy Scottish Kingpins. Ian was truly filthy, and I loved him. I loved the naughtiness of the whole thing, and I loved how instantly these two must have fallen for each other in one evening (where they didn't even show each other their faces). I really enjoyed the epilogue and can't wait for the next book in this series.
Would recommend it to people who love insta-love/insta-lust mafia romance (although, the book mostly focused on the smut rather than their backgrounds) with hot men and hotter women.

A short, forty-page insta featuring a young woman assassin sent by her father to take out a rival mafia guy. Turns out it was a man she had a Cinderella-like encounter with at a masquerade previously. Besides that premise there is no "mafia" trope activity, just a single evening + HEA epilogue encounter. I wanted to read the "Eager Housewife" novella listed as number two in this series so thought I should read number one first, but there is no relation besides the "occupation" of the heroes, which has as much importance to each story as if they were a weatherman or any other job.

Short, sweet and hot. If you want to spend a very enjoyable hour, this novella is for you. A dashing mafia billionaire who’s head over heels in love with a young and sweet assassin (can assassins be sweet? Apparently yes!), steamy interactions and a guaranteed HEA: what else could you want? More stories like this!

Really short, but oh so good! I loved this wickedly steamy story, which I devoured in less than an hour. Talk about hot! Yes, we’ve had female assassins before, but Cleo is amazingly sweet and innocent for a killer, while Ian is…OMG! His dominant streak is evident from the start and as soon as he gets his hands on Cleo, it’s game on. I haven’t read such a good short story in a while, so don’t miss out!

This was a quick but great story. I loved every second of it. I only wish it was longer because I enjoyed the interactions between Ian and Cleo. Cleo is sent to kill the Scottish Kingpin not knowing that it is the same guy from months. Ian has been looking for the lady from the party months ago. What happens when she discovers who he is? Will they have a future together?

This is the second erotic short story I've read by Evie Rose. It is important that you evaluate each story on its own merits (Otherwise you start to draw parallels to the other books and then you notice similar things that also appeared in the other books. That would reduce the rating.You shouldn't take everything seriously either. It's a fantasy.).

So good! Loving all of Evie Rose books. They are quick and spicy but still have a story.

This is my kind of dark smut! No non-con, no horrible mistreatment of the heroine. Just a delicious game of give-and-take. He’s shamelessly obsessive, and she’s innocent but tough. This may be a short little story but it certainly packs a lot in. Spicy hot and steamy scenes follow after Cleo thinks she is sneaking into Ian's castle to assassinate him. Little does she know he had been searching for her since first seeing her some months before. A beautiful quick short read.

October 16, 2023If you want a super-short age-gap breeder romance, then this is it. I didn't really feel much chemistry between the two leads, and so the spicy scenes didn't really do anything for me. Maybe if this had been expanded into a longer book, I would have enjoyed the two characters better. All the same, the writing was good and maybe one day I'll try another book from this author.

This is a fun sexy quick read about assassin Chloe and her mark. After creeping into his castle bedroom, she realises that she doesn't want to kill the handsome Bratvia Scot. Also he looks quite familiar to someone she met at a masquerade ball a few months ago. Hot read.

Surprisingly fun
Cleo and Ian are a hoot together.
She gets caught trying to kill him and then the fun begins.
I like that this is not the first meeting and they did not ignore the "elephant in the room".
I enjoyed the epilogue.
Based on this book, I would read more by this author.

can’t give less than 1 star
Not sure what this was. I’m just glad I got this book free as part of a stuff your kindle event. I would have been dismayed if I had bought this. Evie Rose is one of my fave authors but really not sure what was going on when she wrote this. It’s confusing, lost, nonsensical. Just not up to her usual standard.

Super spicy
Her dad sends her to end the problems coming from a Scottish mafia and with her being an assassin she thinks that she has only one avenue to complete her mission. Her kingpin shows her that there is another way to complete her mission that also gives both of them exactly what they need. Lots of spice, instalove, and an HEA.
