This power hitter led the Philadelphia Phillies to a world championship and was awarded the MVP three times. Schmidt retired from baseball in 1989 having concluded his career with 548 home runs, 8 National League home run crowns, and 10 Gold Glove Awards. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1995.
