OMG! I really liked the first book in this series. And I also liked this second entry for most of the book, but couldn't figure out why it was so short (I started seeing 80% completed when I thought I was only about halfway through the book. Well here's how it was so short. The wrap-up of the book was just bullet-points. Seriously? Did someone send the wrong version of the book to Amazon? Or, did they just decide it wasn't worth it and had bullet points (which probably would've been at least 4-5 more chapters). WHAT???? Yes, the final chapter, after everything is solved, was actual words. But this is sloppy, and unacceptable. I really wanted to like this series and hope this one is just a fluke. However, before I read the next in the series I'll check to make certain the author doesn't do the bullet-point thing again.

Good story telling

The author has a good story that gets carried forward to her next book. I am starting book four now.
I have one criticism though, she needs to spell check her words as there is quite a few mistakes in how she uses her words in a sentence. Her diction is incorrect in a lot of her sentences. I only wish to draw her attention to this as a helpful tool. I really like her work and want to see this part improved so she can go on to become a better writer.

The first book I’ve read in this series but intend to read more. Worth reading.

The story's fine, but the actual writing has clearly not been edited by anyone, including the author, to judge by the number of ridiculous errors in it, the most egregious of which was 'Are you a peeing Tom'. Clearly that should be 'peeping', but apparently no one noticed. I found the same sort of lack of editing in the first book in the series, too, and it's rather irritating that no one appears to have proofread either book.

Good Short Story

I was really enjoying this second book in the series, but the ending came so quickly I felt quite cheated!
I would have given five stars if the book had been a little longer

Misspellings, misused words

I find the several misspelled words and misused words very distracting from the flow from if the story. With today's software, there really is no excuse for these errors.

After reading the 1st book I was looking forward to continuing the series. I was so disappointed to find lots of either editing or print errors which spoiled the flow of reading and then to find an abrupt ending to the story just 96 pages long. Felt very cheated 😢

I was enjoying this book, interesting characters and an intriguing storyline, however I completely agreed with the other reviews. The ending was far too abrupt and the book was overall too short.

Interesting!

This is a new author and a new series for me. I started with book 2, and liked it enough to download books 1, 3, & 4. A clean read which is always a plus and set in the UK which is also an added bonus. Interesting storyline and characters', I read it in one sitting. I am going to now read book 1 and will then have a better feel for the characters. Overall, enjoyable way to spend 2 hours of my day.

Hurriedly published

Story line was interesting and kept me reading. Almost had to stop because of typos and missed words. Advertisement between chapters 4 and 5 was out of line in my mind. Also end of chapter 8 was bullet points not fully developed. If it was meant to be like that.....I dislike the idea. It appeared as a rush to finish and so shortcut taken . I have started next book (3). We'll hope its all written!

A half baked book

This could have been a good book. However, the author seems to lack basic English skills and gets grammar and whole words wrong. In addition, she couldn’t be bothered to write out what could have been a dramatic and well constructed ending. We are given a weak outline instead. Really poor writing.

interesting story. kindle let her down

As we get to the look last few pages, story descends into descriptive sentences summarizing 5 chapters. Very disconcerting!
Story development is sparse but the characters are engaging. Typically repetitive as these series are at the beginning. Whoever. Assembled this for Kindle did author a huge disservice

LOTS OF ERRORS

There were many typographical errors, I.e. misspelling, missing words, and the book was not completed properly. I would not recommend this until it was proofread and corrected. I dislike typos!

Typos and misspelling everywhere

I withhold my reviews until I have read at least two to three volumes, but
these Solent short stories should be printed with a warning to readers.

I recommend you give all the volumes a pass.

very disappointing

Chapters 8 and 9 weren’t even written in sentences. I’m still not sure I understand how or why the murders were committed. This seemed like a good book at first, but it definitely fell apart at the end. Very disappointing.

Story was good until the end

I was enjoying this storyline until I realized I was almost finished. It seems like the author got tired, wrapped it up in outline form, briefly tied the two main characters closer and said the end.

As usual, it was wonderfully written. It drew you immediately in from the first paragraph, I was not surprised by the ending as I had already guessed that it was Horace who had killed Angellica.

Bit short

The story starts off brilliantly and the characters draw you in and then it just ends with no real satisfying ending or explanation. So, not good.

The end.

Enjoyed the book my only complaint is that the ending was to fast with no suspense. Need more details explaining why they were involved the smuggling.

second book in series

The final chapter summarized the conclusion of the mystery. Literally put the end in paragraphs without any explanation it left many questions unanswered.

I was enjoying the story but the author needs to finish the book. The resolution in bullet points at the end was disappointing and there are a lot of typos.

unfinished

This book has many errors in spelling, proper English and it is not complete. The final solution is not written in sentences or paragraphs. It needs serious editing.

Needs editing

The story was interesting until the last chapter. The ending needed more details. The book is full of grammar and spelling mistakes. It needs a good ediotor.

good read and a good story line

Loved the book but I have one question. Do some of the words that look misspelled more native to England? Loved to book

Probably would have rated higher but one arrest and the final showdown with the killer were just outline paragraphs. I’m not sure how that got missed in editing.

How???

Why does this book have two chapter nines? Why is the second half of the first chapter 9 an outline? How did this get past an editor?

Disappointed

Poor plot and riddled with spelling and grammatical errors. Ending was dreadful with just a list of bulletin points as though an aide memoir to the writer
