From Paris, in Love

Rate this book
Miles Clark has everything he needs in his life. Well, almost everything. An exciting new job that challenges him every day, a sister and mother he loves beyond words, an amazing rugby team with his best friend Tyler, and a supportive business partner, Riley, that always makes him want to give his all. But the one person he truly wants, he cannot have. Even if it means keeping his feelings for Riley to himself.

Riley Fletcher is done being walked all over. After several years in a rocky marriage that ended in disaster, she’s determined to reclaim her life and her sole focus is now on her new business with Miles. With so much riding on their success, Riley refuses to let something as trivial as an attraction to a man get in the way. Especially when said man is her colleague.

When Miles and Riley are offered an all-expenses-paid trip to Paris to work with a client at the International Wine Festival, the opportunity for the firm is too good to pass up. But two weeks together in the world's most romantic city puts Riley and Miles' resolve to the test as the two do everything they can not to cave in to their desires. But what if this business getaway is exactly what they need to get past their fears and mend their bruised hearts? Will they be brave enough to say oui to opening up to love or will they fall back into old patterns and let doubts and uncertainties overcome their feelings for each other?

Who doesn't want a summer getaway to France with a tall, dark, and handsome man? From Paris, in Love is the perfect read if you want to escape to the city of love from the comfort of your own home, while enjoying a love story packed with tension, passion and pining. ❛ She’s magnetic, and I’m stuck in her orbit. ❜

the book explored sensitive topics that were closely connected to the protagonists' pasts. throughout the storyline, they attempted to tame and eventually exorcize their demons.

”I want to kiss her so deeply she forgets her worries and gives me her tomorrows.”

the way the main male character mourned the truth that he would never have biological children was truly refreshing to me. alongside with his efforts to cope with infertility and how it altered his future that he always vividly envisioned featuring kids. i loved how Miles was a perfectly balanced character. despite being a merciless shark at his firm, he tempered his hectic life with quality time baking. although being a ruthless rugby player, he acted like a cinnamon roll with his coworker who he had been enamored with for years.

"one day" […] “You’ll realize that you can have it all, and that nothing, and no one, can dim your bright light.”

Riley was a strong female lead. i adored the fact that she was the one who initiated the idea to build her new company from scratch, partnering with Miles. in that single detail, the plot line demonstrated that her past, toxic and abusive marriage didn't tarnish her ambitious spirit. she stood up for herself and in a certain way against her ex-boss, who was accessorily her ex-husband.

”I’ve loved you even when you didn’t love yourself. I love you. Always have and always will.”

the romance was portrayed as a captivating slow burn. in every descriptive scene, their chemistry was palpable. I appreciated how the work place romance was well depicted through business-related dialogues and sittings. i also adored how the 'friends to lovers' arc was masterfully handled, we observed how the gradual transition from their tight complicity and camaraderie morphed into the what-ifs and variables of their pseudo-relationship and finally bloomed into a beautiful relationship. the main male character was head over heels in love with a completely oblivious fmc, from the start, and it wasn’t drawn in a bothersome manner.

p.s.: i knew i was going to love every bit of it the minute Cyril Lignac was mentioned 🤭 and how paris wasn’t viewed with rose-colored glasses

many thanks to NetGalley and the author, publisher for providing an arc in exchange of an honest review.

This book was such a cute and fun read! First off, Riley is a total badass. She went through a tough divorce, started her own business, and came out stronger than ever. I loved every second of her journey. And then there’s Miles, who was absolutely gone for her from day one! I mean, who doesn’t love a guy who’s a total simp for his girl? 🥹

Their friendship was already rock solid before they even got romantic, which just made me love them more. They were always there for each other, like Riley comforting Miles on the plane or him taking care of her when she was sick. It was so sweet! And oh my gosh, the tension between them! The pining was off the charts and had me giggling like a schoolgirl.

The balance between the sweet moments and the spicy ones was spot on. Honestly, these two are complete opposites but fit together perfectly, and I couldn’t help but root for them the whole time.

- Friends to lovers
- He falls first
- Vacation romance
- Strong FMC

This is the first Elodie Colliard book I've read, and I've loved it. This is the first Elodie Colliard book I've read, and I've loved it. I've already added the first of the series to my TBR.

The book deals with sensitive topics such as domestic abuse and male infertility. I thought the topics were well introduced, and you can see the impact it had on the characters. Miles is amazing. It's very beautiful to see how much he always tries to make Riley feel safe and seen after what she's been through. Riley is sensational. She put a stop to the abusive situation she's living in and went to build a new life. She's a girl boss.

Miles and Riley have a real connection, and the sexual tension between the two is absurd. (The scene from the photo shoot, I loved it so much.) And I can't forget to say that Miles, besides being sensitive, hot as hell, he cooks for Riley, there's no way he's going to be more perfect.

I really loved reading this book. And I highly recommend it.

Thank you, Netgalley, and Victory Editing for the ARC.

THIS. BOOK. Y'ALL. Read the whole thing, no spoilers.

Ok, I was already a big fan of Elodie, but mine is now a Colliard stan account. Miles and Riley are so... so... SOFT. Their love grew delicately, then passionately. It took them both by surprise, and at the same time, was there all along (totally idiots to lovers.)

I don't even know where to start. The setting. When I tell you you can *feel* Paris. You can feel the romance, the yearning, the vibe of the city of love. On top of that, this is an original take on a workplace romance, because it's somewhat also a holiday romance.

FPIL is also a masterfully done double POV, with each character having their unique voice and each chapter progressing the plot and giving out enough information and context to feel completely engrossed in the story.

Side characters? Loved them. Besides Avery and Josh, the couple from The Last Encore, Elodie's debut, we also get a lovely and meddling best friend, Tyler, and Charlee, Riley's sister and the FMC from her next book.

The story is gorgeous. Some of my favorite scenes include the calendar chapter (IYKYK), the surprise that Riley plans for Miles, and the epilogue, which was the sweetest thing.

Now, onto the characters. Ugh. I love Miles. Grumpy at a first glance, but an absolute SIMP for his woman. And Riley? A strong, stubborn, guarded woman who doesn't need a man, but chooses to share her life with the best of them all. After all she's been through, seeing how she handled the last conflict was so satisfying, and seeing her come to terms with the mistakes she's made and communicates with Miles was just as beautiful.

And the spice?! THE SPICE?! Can we talk about the Versailles scene? About Miles' good morning? Hello, sir. Good morning to you too.

Look, I don't know what else to say to convince you to read this book. Do it. It's awesome. Read The Last Encore too. Read everything Elodie Colliard writes.

Here are the tropes:
♥️ Patners to lovers
♥️ Golden retriever baker MMC
♥️ Bada$$ FMC
♥️ Trip to France
♥️ Steamy
♥️ Grumpy MMC
♥️ Regency themed party

2 ⭐️ This book was a solid 3.5 until THAT ending.

Seriously, what in the fresh h*ll was that?

This could have been a super cute romcom with great friends to lovers feels -and the CUTEST dog! - until the fmc when into full selfish a**hole mode and did exactly what she's spent the entire book saying she would hate if anyone did it to her. If the mmc would've behaved the way the fmc does here, I wouldn't even consider this a romance. But not that she's the one doing it and not taking it, all of the sudden 'I love you' fixes it? Seriously?

You know it's bad when I'm rooting for the mmc instead of the fmc. I support women's rights and wrongs, but come on...

What really drives the situation even further down the spiral of hypocrisy here is the complete lack of grovelling by the fmc.

I don't know. Maybe it's my abandonment issues talking, maybe it's the terrible fmc with zero regard for her partner's feelings (much like her abusive ex)... But just no. I would absolutely not recommend this.

I'm truly trying to remember a more disappointing end to a romcom, and I can't think of one.

I will say, though, the cover is GORGEOUS!!

Thank you so much Net Galley for the eARC!*

This was a very sweet, sexy, friends to lovers (they are co-workers) read. He falls first and when I tell you that he does is because he is LITERALLY secretly in love with her. The slow burn is 🔥🫢 I was going crazy waiting for something to happen and when it did I was giggling ✨

The spice was SPICING 🌶️ but I did love them together and their relationship, especially after leaving both of their previous relationships.

From Paris in love is a sweet friends/ colleagues to lovers romance. This was a quick and entertaining read, with lots of things to love.

I loved that included serious and heavy issues that both characters needed to overcome, I loved to see how they both loved their family and valued family bonds, to see Miles and Tyler’s friendship and how Miles was open to his best friend about everything in his life, and obviously, I liked to see Miles and Ry’s relationship flourish.

I especially loved Miles:
“You don’t need me. You want me. And I want you. Just as you are. Wholesome, strong, beautiful, and stubborn… I just want to be by your side, holding your hand while you conquer the world. Just because I want to.”

Read it if you like:
- Strong FMC recovering from an abusive relationship, and fighting for herself.
- Sweet and sexy MMC, with flowers tattoos, who empowers her, bakes, and is willing to give her the world. He is very in touch with his emotions and also recovering from a different sort of heartbreak.
- Good tension between the characters
- Spice and praise
- He falls first

I adored this book until some inaccuracies, misconceptions and stereotypes started:
- we do have air conditioning in Europe, you may not find it all houses, but definitely in all hotels, most Airbnb’s and all public infrastructure. This affects mainly the residents households.
- All cars will have air conditioning! France is one of the largest players in the automotive industry, and if you are in France and not in a French car, the odds are that you’ll be on a German, Italian, or Spanish car. Guess what? These manufacturers do put air conditioning on their cars. Additionally, there are strict regulations regarding carbon emissions and old cars cannot circulate in the cities. In general, you cannot drive cars from before the late 90’s in the cities, and you may need to have stickers confirming your emission levels are ok. Thus, it will be virtually impossible to enter a taxi with no air conditioning, and manual levers for the windows.
- The kissing! It’s true we kiss in Europe, but no taxi driver will ever ever kiss you! Much less if you are a man! This is just nonsense, especially after covid.
- Medicine… language might be a barrier, although not in all European countries, but it doesn’t matter if you know or not the brands pharmacies have in stock. Pharmacies sell the drugs with the International Nonproprietary Names (INN) which identifies pharmaceutical substances or active pharmaceutical ingredients. If you know what you use in Canada and USA, you are able to easily buy it here. In doubt, you can always use internet (we do have it here! Impressive right?)

This was particularly annoying because it was written just after the characters complain how annoying it is, as Canadians, to be confused and treated as Americans.

I think the romance was quite good! I only wish there was a greater research for the Paris bit (you can tackle all my previous points with a quick google search). I’m not French, and I wasn’t this annoyed since the Love Actually and the ridiculous scene with Colin Firth in “Portugal”.

I still recommend this book for romance readers.

I would like to thanks Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, Elodie Colliard and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a cute book!

Read if you like:
💌 Workplace romance
💌 Lots of pining
💌 Forced proximity
💌 He falls first

I fell in love with the gorgeous cover of this book, and the book was just so cute!

The book centres around Miles and Riley who are starting up their own PR firm after being former colleagues at a previous firm - a firm that was owned by Riley’s ex husband.

The pining and tension in this book is so good because they’re great friends that clearly have chemistry, but are hesitant due to the future of their firm. This is understandable, but obviously it’s a lost cause👀

They then go on a PR trip to Paris for their first client, and I just adored it! Paris is an amazing city, and it just captured the vibes SO well. I honestly couldn’t put it down, and was just waiting for them to get together.

The romance and spice was sooo good and all the tension just made it so rewarding! Where can I get my own Miles?🥹

“She’s magnetic, and I’m stuck in her orbit”

I also appreciate how the book deals with some heavier topics making it more than just a regular romance book. It adds some nice nuance to the characters, and makes their love story that much sweeter💗

I only wished the characters had been explored a bit more. There were times where I didn’t really understand why they reacted/acted as they did which created some frustration while reading. This happened a bit more towards the end in order to “draw out” their getting together and it felt a bit unnecessary.

All in all, this was such a cute romance read! Beware that you will want to drink lots of wine and eat lots of desserts while/after reading🫶

Thank you so much to Elodie for reaching out and sending me the ARC and writing such a lovely story!

"From Paris, in Love" by Elodie Colliard is a delightful addition to the "It's Always Been You" series. This book navigates the charming 'he falls first' co-worker-to-lovers romance between Miles and Riley, and it's Colliard's best work yet. After meeting Miles in the first book, I was looking forward to his chance at love, and this story delivered.
Miles is a captivating character, a rugby player turned PR professional, and his chemistry with Riley, his business partner, is electric. Riley, who's recovering from an abusive marriage, is determined not to rely on anyone but finds herself drawn to Miles' magnetic charm.
What truly stood out in this book was the way it tackled important themes. Miles' commitment to therapy and personal growth was refreshing to see, and the portrayal of healthy friendships, particularly between Miles and his best friend Tyler, added depth to the story.
Both characters felt real and relatable, working on their flaws while respecting each other's boundaries. Their relationship's progression was comfortable to witness, making this a heartwarming and genuinely enjoyable read. Colliard's storytelling shines with authenticity, making "From Paris, in Love" a must-read for romance enthusiasts.

2.75⭐️ dnf at 75%. i think there’s multiple factors here as to why i didn’t really care for this book much or finish it. one being simply my mood. i want to get caught up on or finish all of the series i have that i’ve started before the end of the year (ambitious yes, but possible) but in order to do that it means that yeah i have to call it quits when im not feeling a book or an author’s writing style.

as well as that, my taste is always evolving and im just at the point when it comes to romance books that they really have to wow me and stick out. the writing cant be cookie cutter like most of it seems to be. but that’s also my fault for judging books by their cover too often bc im obsessed w leni kauffman and i use her as an excuse to get any book just bc she made the art for it😅

but yeah this one again just felt too trendy, too swiftie and just not as fleshed out of characters as i would like. its just like exactly what you would expect in a entry level cutesy cheesy romance, and i think my tastes have grown past that.

I loved Elodie Colliard’s debut THE LAST ENCORE, so it wasn’t a surprise that I’m also obsessed with her newest.

What I loved —
💙 friends to lovers
💙 workplace romance
💙 dual POV
💙 he falls first
💙 banter
💙 international trip to PARIS 🤩

Miles has been pining after Riley for years and he’s just the sweetest book boyfriend 🥹 I loved Miles and Riley’s work partnership dynamic and their genuine friendship. Elodie really builds on the tension and definitely brings the spice 🌶️ this is easily one of my favorite romances of the year so far 🙌

“One day, love, I will tell you how long I’ve been in love with you. I’ll explain to you everything that I’ve felt all these years, how excruciating it was to not hold you close to me just as I do now, how my hands knew what you felt like without haven’t even touched you yet, how my body was certain you’d fit against it perfectly without haven’t held you yet. And you’ll see then, and understand, that I was made for you, and you were made for me. And I have never known anything to be more true.”

Sigh. I am so proud of publishing my second book, FROM PARIS, IN LOVE. Miles definitely captured my heart, and even though this is a dual POV, this is Miles' book. For him.

If your catnip is workplace romance, summer travel abroad, badass women, costumed ball and overprotecting teddy bears who fall first, you should pick this one up as soon as it hits the shelves! Miles and Riley will steal your heart, I just know it. Just, prepare yourself for a whole lot of romance, pining and badassery 😎 and Paris shenanigans of course 🔵⚪🔴

You should be aware that this story includes topics of male infertility and domestic abuse (verbal). If you are sensitive to those, you should go in it carefully.

This book was charming and light-hearted! It had a great balance of sweet and heartwarming moments that was just adorable. I appreciated Miles the most because he was incredibly patient and open in his communication, and he wasn't afraid to express his feelings towards Ry. It was refreshing to see such a positive and healthy portrayal of friendship and into love. It was definitely amusing when they went to Paris and had to deal with all the cultural differences. a bit cliché at times but still funny. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a cute and easy read. Especially if you are a fan of Melanie Harlow's books!

After meeting Miles in Elodie's first book, The Last Encore, I was eagerly (but patiently!) awaiting his book. Have you ever seen a more beautiful cover? 🫶🏻💕

Miles has been in love with Riley since he picked her up off the bathroom floor when their boss (and her then husband) humiliated her at the office. This was just one instance of the emotional abuse he had put her through, and a year after divorcing him, Riley approaches Miles with an offer to set up their own rival PR company. Miles does everything he can to make sure to keep their relationship professional, out of respect for Riley, holding onto his feelings and supporting her in every way she needs. Riley wants to prove herself and is determined to never let a man hold her back or come in the way of her success again.

When work with a huge new client takes them to Paris, their relationship begins to change. In the most idyllic setting, Riley can't help but give in to the want and lust that has been torturing them both for months. But will Riley's fear get in the way of what could be a great love?

Again, Elodie has written a swoony romance with adorable characters and sweet spice, but tackled some really sensitive topics with such care (check trigger warnings) that really gives this book so much heart. Miles is just a big cinnamon roll who would do anything for Riley, and she is on her healing journey, dealing with the trauma of an abusive relationship and trying to take back her life and find her voice. Miles gives her the space she needs and is always there to empower her. Their chemistry is evident from the very start, and it was worth the wait when they finally put aside their fears and stopped fighting their feelings. I loved the romantic Parisian setting and Avery and Josh's cameo (from book 1). This was such a sweet and heartfelt story, and Elodie's acknowledgments at the end nearly broke me. She poured her heart into this book, and it shows.

Thank you to Elodie and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. From Paris In Love is out September 26th 💕

⚽ The Long Game by Elena Armas

Elodie Colliard's sophomore novel is adventurous, passionate, and absolutely magnetic. Believe me when I tell you I could not wait a SECOND longer to get my hands on this book, and wow, was it worth the wait! I fell in love with Elo after reading her debut novel, The Last Encore, and that most certainly has not changed since reading this book.

"My heart belongs in the palm of her hands. Truth is, she's been holding it all along."

After recently leaving their old jobs at the same PR firm, Miles and Riley start their own firm -- Flecher & Clark. When one of their new clients asks them to do business with him in Paris for two weeks, they can't refuse. Miles, who's spent the past several years of his life pinning after Riley, is nervous about their shared time together. But when she reciprocates his feelings, well...I guess you'll just have to read for yourself!

"She's magnetic, and I'm stuck in her orbit."

🩵 Miles -- I'm obsessed. What's NOT to love about a businessman who bakes French pastries in his free time, plays recreational rugby, and whose dog is named Happy! Miles treats Riley like a queen, with such tenderness and care, patience and love. He is (no pun intended) *chef's kiss*
🩵 The tension and the passion between these two is INSANE in the best way possible. Both Miles and Riley are a bit older than your typical main characters of contemporary romance, which adds to the hot hot steam and angst of this book.
🩵 There are so many wonderful scenes in this book, I have such a hard time choosing a favorite -- the calendar, the boat, the ball, Riley's surprise for Miles😭 These two were SO much fun to spend time with; I didn't want to leave them!
🩵 This book is a slow, slow burn in the best way possible. The push and pull of their romance was SO SO worth the wait. If you loved The Long Game by Elena Armas, I am more that certain you will love this book as well!

Why are you still reading my review and not on your way to buy this book? Jokes aside, this was such a sweet romance, and I cannot wait for whatever Elo has in store next.

Thank you so much NetGalley and Elo for sending me an ARC of this wonderful story🩵

While there are trigger warnings, please note that this book considers themes of domestic abuse. Also, note that this book is #2 in the It's Always Been You series and while you may read this as a standalone, I HIGHLY recommend that you begin with the first book for a more well-rounded reading experience (and because TLE is somewhere in my top 20 anyway so...)

Things I loved:
٭ The slow burn! It was so tension-filled, with the mutual pining from the dual POV, with that forbidden aspect because they’ve started a business together. But boy, when the slow burn quickens, these two are straight up fire!
٭ Miles is such a beautiful character. He is kind and decent and unafraid to be vulnerable. I love his relationship with Tyler - how they are a real support system, allowing each other to truly open up and express their emotions.
٭ Riley is a badass. She’s healing from a past abusive relationship, re-finding herself, taking control of her life and trying unsuccessfully to not fall in love with Miles.
٭ The Paris setting really added to the story. The forced proximity, the romance, the food. It was the perfect place for these two to finally give in to the tension and make things official!
٭ The emphasis on female empowerment in the corporate world and how Riley navigates grown men acting like giant babies.
٭ The infertility rep in this was heartbreaking but also a different POV I hadn’t read before, as it’s Miles who is unable to have children. The toll that this takes on his self-esteem and his ability to have genuine and long term romantic relationships was painful to read about, but I liked this insight.
٭ Their communication was wonderful, but at times, they let their insecurities and past get in the way. Riley was incredibly stubborn and pushed Miles away a lot and Miles made lots of assumptions that put a strain on their relationship, too. I’m glad they could get it together by the end!
٭ I also loved Avery and Josh making an appearance and having an insight into their love story :)

UGH! I loved this so much!! This comes out on Sept 26. Highly recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

This was my first romance in a long time <3 and it was the best little ride :’) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s a friends to lovers/workplace romance story! Miles had been eyeing Riley for years. Riley just got out of a rocky marriage.

AND THEN THEY START TO WORK CLOSELY TOGETHER ;) at home and IN PARIS. We love forced proximity! I felt like I was watching a movie with two stubborn characters who wouldn’t make a move 😂 I especially LOVED how competitive they were. With just about everything lol. Kind of like…who’s going to give in first?

But this story has more than romance. Both of these characters have gone through a lot. There’s trauma and hurt from the past. Each of them GOING THRU IT. So I’m happy there were conversations (and arguments) about it. Nothing was too glossed over in my opinion.

It’s a super cute read and I’m so grateful to the author for sending me an arc on NetGalley! 🩷

I recommend this book if you like wholesome love, romantic cities, baking desserts, and a lil spice 🌶️🌶️🥵

A few more honorable mentions:

The Friends references were amazing!
I had many jaw dropping moments 👀
The chapter titles are song titles!!

Quotes I loved:

“She’s magnetic, and I’m stuck in her orbit.”
“Call me sir one more time and see what happens…”
“You’re such a Monica Gellar”

you stare at this masterpiece of a cover and what comes to mind?
a new comfort read
time to cry in the sweetest way because the romance will make you feel like a soft ball of misery.
what you get instead?
400 pages of a underdeveloped plot, juvenile writing, a fmc that is suffering from trauma but is actually a walking trauma herself and a mmc who is annoying but definitely deserves better than love bombing and being there for her at every call and getting a trip to a bakery in return.
ladies, teach your fmc to be boss ass bitches that know how to grovel and understand when a man is made of gold.
and pls make your mmc tone down the dirty talking when it gets too fucking much.

oh!
pls paypal us (me & Anastasia) some therapy money cause we came here to cry from feeling comfort based on a fictional romance
yet instead
seek a professional to cry in their arms and talk about how this book was the biggest disappointment of our recent lives.

I truly didn’t think it was possible to love Elodie’s second book more than her first but Riley and Miles story takes the cake. I love a he falls first, grumpy sunshine, friends to lovers slow burn romance. The fact that Miles always had a crush on Riley, even when she was married he was respectful and never crossed a line. Once Riley ended her abusive relationship she became a badass independent woman and their relationship slowly blossomed from a friendship to a love they couldn’t deny. Overcoming many obstacles these two came out on top.
A special topic in this story was infertility. As many of you know this topic is near and dear to my heart and the way the author wrote about this was spot on. The heartbreak and loneliness it causes. But to see it from a males perspective it was very enlightening and eye opening. Thank you for taking such care in writing about a sensitive topic.
I cannot say enough good things about this book! Run, don’t walk to preorder it now!

That's it, Elodie is officially going on my auto-buy authors list.

I don't know when was the last time that I stayed up past midnight (on a workday!) to finish a book but it was definitely the case with From Paris, in Love.

I thought Josh and Avery couldn't be topped as my favorite couple in the It's Always Been You series. Well, I was proven wrong with this book.

Miles and Riley were funny, cute and tearing-my-hair-out stubborn together and I ate it up. They're far from perfect, they both have their past scars and baggages. Their previous experiences make them even more afraid to open up for the other and this made them so much more real for me.

Starting a firm together with your recently diverced office crush is a good idea, right? Add a business trip to Paris to the mix for good measure and see how long either of you'll stay sane in the most romantic city on Earth with your bottled up feelings.

And oh my gosh...the tension between these two? Even I was frustrated as they did the good old will-they-won't-they dance.
(And of course they will, it's a romance novel after all.😅)
At some point I was ready to combust after all the back and forth.

This is a place for a little disclaimer ‼️
There's a corset ripping scene...I repeat: THERE'S A CORSET RIPPING SCENE! 😈

The spice? 😏
2.5🌶
It's a slow burn romance but when it finally burns...oh boy, it's so worth it. 😉

Miles is definitely the perfect book boyfriend material:
"Oh, love, trust me, you won't remember your name or what country we're in by the time I'm finished with you."

This man made my jaw drop to the floor.
He's tall, handsome, knows his way around the kitchen. He also plays rugby with his friends as a hobby, and has tattoos on his arm. Did I mention that he's a dog dad too?

So, if you want to have a good time and read a romance book that'll make you forget you're reading, you should definitely pick this one up!

I'd like to thank Netgalley and the author for the e-arc of this book.

This truly was an amazing story with a strong female character that felt really empowering to read.

The book follows Riley and Miles. They are coworkers at a business firm that Riley’s husband manages but because of the toxic environment, they both quit their job.

Riley got divorced not long after and wants to start her own business. After some time, Miles and Riley got in contact again and became co-partners to the firm.

Miles always wanted to be more then friends with Riley but she needs to fight her own battles alone first..

I loved the characters and the tension that they had and Miles was so sweet to her. 🫶🏻

There are TW for this book (domestic abuse, infertility,…)

Thank you to Netgalley, Elodie Colliard and the publisher for providing me with this copy. All opinions are my own.

From Paris, In Love by Elodie Collard 🥐

After a rocky marriage and resulting divorce, Riley is done with being walked all over. She decides to start her own business and ends up partnering with her friend Miles who used to work at her old firm with her. Riley tells herself she needs to ignore her attraction to him and focus on her company. Meanwhile, Miles is dealing with fighting his own attraction to Riley. When they are offered an all-expenses-paid trip to Paris it's an opportunity too good to pass up. Now they get to spend two weeks in the most romantic city in the world, putting them both to the test. They have to decide if they can move past their past fears and admit how they feel to each other.

I enjoyed this one. The setting was really fun with it being set in Paris and of course the forced proximity the trip brought. This one is a bit of a slow burn but that's what is needed for Miles and Riley's story as they both had a bit of growing and pains from the past to work through before they could be ready to admit how they feel to the other.

Riley had to deal with her jerk of an ex that would demean her any chance he could. I admired how she built back up her confidence and wouldn't back down. Meanwhile Miles is dealing with accepting his infertility and how it impacted his past relationship. I felt for them both and glad they had each other to support.

I wish we could have gotten a little more pre-business partner interactions, getting to see Miles fall for Riley versus being told he has been pining after her for awhile now and is too nervous to act on it. Similar to when it switched to Riley's POV it seemed like she had been pining after him for awhile instead of her slowly realizing she was into him like I was expecting. The flow on some things were a little bit off for me to be fully rooting for them, some moments too fast and others too slow.

Looking forward to seeing what Elodie writes in the future!

*arc* 5 STARS

thank you so much to elodie for giving me an arc of this book! i was & still am obsessed!

i loved this book SO much. i haven't stopped thinking about miles & riley!!

riley is an incredibly well rounded, well written, and beautiful character. strong, independent, funny, kind, powerful. she's relatable and she's genuine. her story was heartbreaking, but getting to see her grow from it, succeed, and find her strength again was so beautiful! i love love LOVE her. she was so comforting, i admired her character so much!!

MILES.. what. a. man. i LOVE him. so well rounded & well written. he was everything and more: kind, caring, protective, funny, strong. his story made my heart hurt, but i loved getting to see him find what he's always wanted in the end. he is such a special character. just like riley, he was so comforting & i admired him soso much. I LOVE HIM DEARLY.

the writing in this book is so good, i was immediately in love with it from the very first page. elodie does such an incredible job at portraying the evolution of miles & riley's love story. i felt all the emotions, swooned, giggled, squealed. i fell in love with them immediately, it was all just SO SPECIAL.

the mutual pining, the banter, the tension & chemistry, the friendship, communication, and ALL THE LOVE!! oh, and the SPICE? YEEEEEE DOGGY! it was so well done, all of it. every last bit. i ate it up from beginning to end! EVERY. LAST. CRUMB.

this is a slow burn workplace, friends to lovers romance, with international travel & a man obsessed might i add! there are themes of abuse & infertility rep, so please check TWs just incase!

this book was everything to me. i love miles & riley SO much. their relationship from beginning to end was so beautiful & special. the writing is beautiful & engaging & fun. i refuse to shut up about this book!

Quick summary: Riley leaves her ex husband's company because he is a toxic/abusive piece of trash. Miles also leaves said company. The two open their own company and get invited to Paris for a two-week work trip. Miles is in love with Riley and Riley is in love with coming out on top.

It what world do I root for the MMC over FMC?? Apparently this one. I loved Miles - he was soft, kind, communicative, respectful, funny, everything I wanted. I didn't like his relationship with his infertility because it really gave toxic masculinity more than anything. Riley was not my fave, at all. I understand her PTSD from her past relationship, her fears and concerns are valid, but the way she told Miles at the beginning she didn't want anything more than friendship but than continued to get upset when he wouldn't make a move on her drove me mad. She flirted with another man just to make Miles jealous and when it didn't work, she got upset. To end it, she blames him for her ex pulling another abusive tactic and acts like this company is only hers. There were too many red flags with her and even though Miles was a 7/10 for me, he deserved better.

The writing was strong, you can tell Colliard put a lot of effort into it. The pacing was a little weird - the time jump at the beginning made the first 50 pages feel like an extended prologue. The dual POV really worked with this story - I enjoyed seeing the pining on both ends but it just lasted a little too long.
