“I will bleed you dry until there’s not a drop of magic left in your body.”

Delaney thought her life couldn’t get any more complicated. After all, what could possibly top coming back from the dead? But when an ancient witch sets her sights on obtaining the magic running through her veins, Delaney realizes quickly that coming back was the easy part. Now, she must fight to stay breathing.

Cole’s heart began beating again the moment Delaney Astor reappeared. When she’s ripped away from him in the blink of an eye, the last rational part of his brain snaps, and all that matters is getting her back. Regardless of what it costs him.
But it’s no longer just Delaney’s life on the line.

And as these two will soon discover, the price might be well beyond anything they can pay.

Picking up from Curse of the Witch’s heart-wrenching cliffhanger, Blood of the Witch will see Delaney and Cole into territory they’ve never explored. Perfect for fans of Kelly St. Clare, Jennifer Ashley, Jaymin Eve, or anyone who loves shifter romance with a twist.

USA Today Bestselling Author of steamy PNR and fantasy romance.

Ever since my grandmother first handed me a Nora Roberts novel, I KNEW I wanted to write romance.

I love love. Crave it. For me, genre doesn't matter as long as there is a beautifully epic love story woven into the storyline.

Which is exactly why I chose to write across so many genres. Paranormal, fantasy, contemporary, suspense...no matter which of my books you choose you always know what you're getting: a love story for the ages.

Didn't like this book at all. Too many OW's popping up in the whole series, every-freaking-where, in the first books and this one, and I've just had enough of it. Also it's WAY too similar to the events that took place in the first books. The heroine is taken and almost killed, then the hero gets taken shortly after and becomes a bit possessed. The bad person wants the heroine to become powerful, meanwhile also lusting after the hero, and even little events just felt too repetitive. One of my biggest issues is when the protagonists NEVER win any fight or situation throughout the whole story, and then magically saves the day at the end. It's just too unrealistic, and I'm getting sick of these characters constantly losing or getting hurt. There is also too much cursing that it just makes the MCs seem immature as if they can't say or think a single sentence without cussing something or someone out and it was all just SO REPETITIVE.

And side note- if you're supposed to be badass and everyone is hyping up your fighting skills and whatnot, then actually DO something badass! Not cry and have self pity parties every chance you get, or lose every fight you're in 🤦 and her whole martyrdom and useless (powerful) powers got old REAL fast.

The hero isn't loyal enough for me either. He knew she was his mate for YEARS, and just because they are a different species and thinks they can't be together, he pushes her away the whole time and f**ks another woman literally right after the death of his mate, the heroine, to "forget" because THAT is swoon-worthy🙄 so of course that ow will pop up and cause drama too, because we need some more cliche-ness here, as if it doesn't have enough.

Anyways, I ended up skimming about half the book because it also started dragging and I really just wanted to get it over with. I know there was also some more things that bothered me but I'm tired and I should save my breath for the rant that will most likely come for the next book which I will only be reading for a certain fae and siren 🙃

Blood of the Witch did not disappoint. The story started with so much action, I couldn’t put it down much less sleep. There were so many twists and turns. This story left me sobbing at the end and screaming WHY??? I highly recommend this story. I definitely need to have Rise of the Witch like now!

Delaney and Cole's story continues in the book. A magical action packed story that grows more complex. In Blood of the Witch Delaney finds herself fighting to keep her magic from being taken her by an ancient witch. A page turner, you won't put down.

This is book five of the Vampire Huntress Chronicles series and sees the main Characters Delaney Astor and Cole Miller finally together romantically after she is brought back from the dead, not in her own body, but that of the witch Jane, her younger sister’s good friend, after she was finally killed by the original witch who had been after her for centuries. But the witch, Lucy McClough, daughter of the original witch, didn’t manage to gain Jane’s magic as that was transferred to Delaney when she took over her body and soul. Now this ancient witch who relished killing Jane over and over again, every time she reached the age of nineteen, in a more painful manner each time, is after the magic held within Delaney! Delaney has to get used to the fact that she no longer has all the advantages of her hunter body, training and magic, such as rapid healing and strength. She needs to get more practice with her fighting skills to get this replacement body more used to what she used to do, but she also needs to learn how to use Jane’s magic, plus the extra magic that she inherited that the evil witch was unable to get when Jane died.

It seems that Lucy is too powerful for any of them to defeat, plus she also seems to be at least three steps ahead of them all, no matter what they plan. Delaney’s presence in the pack with Cole brings a lot of animosity from some of the more traditional wolf shifters. Josiah, the pack alpha is right behind Delaney and considers her part of the family, especially after she saved his daughter. Delaney is joined in her battles by Cole, her sister Rainey and her partner Elijah, Willa wolf shifter alpha and Jack the hunter, Fearghas the fae, Z another wolf shifter and vampire Tarnley. At the end of the previous book Delaney and fellow witch Bronwyn were taken by Lucy and it left Cole almost driven mad at losing his mate. She is nowhere he can find and he has lost the mate connection between them. Bronwyn feels helpless, having had previous knowledge of the power the original witch and Lucy can wield and knowing she has no defence against her. Delaney won’t give up on Cole and her friends finding them wherever they might be. They will need to hurry though as Lucy has plans to carry on with and draining Delaney of all her magic, is just one part of her ultimate plan. Cole will do anything to get her back, even disobeying his alpha and going it alone, rather than allow anyone else to help him. He finally has to accept some help, as Rainey and Fearghas especially won’t allow him to leave them behind!

Fearghas has to deal with the knowledge of his evil sister Sheelin teaming up with Lucy and finding that their ultimate plan is to take over Billings, forcing all supernaturals to leave the city and leaving it to Lucy. But with the power of the ley lines based somewhere in Billings, that would only be the beginning of her power trip and no doubt Lucy would then carry on her war against supernaturals and killings any humans in her way, as she takes over larger areas of the country ad even the world! Lucy is targeting both Delaney and Cole in her evil plans and anyone of the others that get in her way, will meet their deaths, as it seems none of them can defeat her. The only thing they can do is try to get to the target of Lucy’s plans and foil her quest for the ultimate power grab. Fearghas’ mother is one of the people who helped Delaney before, even though it led to the death of her own husband at the hand of her daughter Sheelin, in Faerie and she comes to the rescue again. Delaney has almost died from being drained of her very life force, but is determined to end Lucy’s reign of terror, even if she has to sacrifice her own life to do so. It was something she lived by as a hunter and believes no differently now. The only person she doesn’t want to give up is Cole, but she may not have a choice!

Lucy will kill all of her friends and family, as well as any other supernaturals still in Billings, if she doesn’t agree to help her gain the power she wants from the ley lines, but that would mean Delaney dies and Cole would never survive that. Also, she has learnt from all their previous dealings that nothing Lucy says can be believed and she twists all of her promises, always exacting a deadly price for others. Lucy will trick anyone she can to come to her side, so long as she can get what she wants and even though she had joined up with Sheelin in Faerie, it seems she hasn’t told her of her plans in Billings and the power she wants to take. She will use any of them to get what she wants and hold them against Delaney to get it. Delaney has a horrible choice to make, one that she knows will probably kill her, just after she and Cole had finally come together at last and allowed themselves to love each other, against the laws of the Accords they had always followed. Lucy however is seemingly always prepared for whatever plans they may have made and well ahead of them, leading to some important characters being killed and trickery being used to damage those who remain. A sad ending to this book that has left me wanting to read the next book asap, to find out what happens to my favourite characters and those who have fought so hard to stop the evil Lucy has brought to those they know and love! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

With each book I read by Jessica Wayne, my mind is just blown. She is just so talented and I can’t help but fall in love with her work over and over again. She really knows how to capture her audience and really give them what they want. I honestly never know what I’m going to get with her but I just love the surprise, and this book was no different.
I honestly have no idea where she comes up with all these ideas, but I love every single one of them.
I loved every minute of this book and the relationship between Cole and Delaney is really gripping, there’s so much heat and chemistry that you can’t help but want things to work out for them… Yet time isn’t exactly on their side, especially considering at the end of the first book Lucy ended up kidnapping Delaney and Bronywyn… I honestly had no idea how Jessica was going to pull any of this off, but she managed to do it in a way that I never saw coming.
She gives hope that Cole and Delaney will make it and will get their happy ending, but then she knows how to deliver the blow that will change things for good.
I just love this series and have no idea what she plans on doing with the next book, but when you get to the end of this one, you’ll be shouting… especially if you love Cole.
I honestly recommend that you give this series a read because it’s just that amazing.

Delaney has no idea if she’ll ever see Cole again, but the one thing that she does know is that she’s not giving up of getting out of there and she will make sure that Bronywn goes with her. She is determined to escape Lucy’s clutches and do her best to get back to Cole (her mate)… However, when it seems she can’t even call out to Fearghas, she has no idea what’s to come… But when Lucy almost drains her of her blood, she manages to escape with the help of Fearghas’ mother.
Cole is out of his mind with worry and is determined to find Lucy and kill her and save Delaney… But when he manages to find her he knows that they have bigger things to worry about.
Will they be able to take Lucy down or are they set to lose for good????

Ahhh that cliffhanger was so painful! Whyyyyy?!?!

Fearghas with his sass and good humour, and Bronwyn, her hard exterior cracking and getting to know her and her story more, are probably my favourite characters.

Jessica’s way of winding the supernatural into the modern world is well done and exciting.

I’m struggling to connect with this story in general, it just doesn’t seem to flow as well as Rainey’s trilogy in this series. Almost feels like the plot is going around in circles in some aspects.

These characters are all over 30/35 but they have moments where it seems like they’re just teens with the drama and irrational decisions they make.

There was an overuse of ‘f-ing’ ‘damn’ and ‘hell’ every few paragraphs, enough so that it annoyed me which hasn’t really happened for me before. It just made the writing abrupt and angry throughout when it should’ve been romantic or sad.

I don’t enjoy Cole’s character, haven’t from the start, and Delaney is very hit and miss with her decisions which has me frustrated as I just can’t grasp who she is. It’s like there’s an idea of her created by the way she talks and thinks, but her actions never really a-line.

I really hope that a few gaps in information and Cole and Delaney have a HEA come through in the last book!

“Blood of the Witch” is both the five book in the “Vampire Huntress Chronicles” by Jessica Wayne, and the second installment in Delaney’s and Cole’s story.

The story follows seamlessly the events of the previous book (“Curse of the Witch”), right after the heartbreaking cliffhanger, with Cole freaking out about Delaney’s disappearance, now that the portal has closed Cole is unable to feel their mated bond, but he is still aware of the fear and terror that grabbed Delaney before going through the portal. It the worst kind of nightmare, Cole just got Delaney back, and with her a shoot at real happiness, and as she disappears anew, there is nothing he wouldn’t sacrifice for her, even his own life would be a fair exchange in his own opinion. Delaney’s ransoming is beyond everything everyone could ever envision… welcome to the next cliff… 😉

Jessica Wayne’s style is fast-paced, crisp and action filled, with multiple twists and
unexpected turns. This is a fantastic good written paranormal romance meets thriller series, with and good mix of urban fantasy, vampire/werewolf lore and paranormal romance.

What a ride!
So much story was told in book 2 and all of it made me love all the different characters in the Vampire Huntress series even more.
We get to spend more time with Broynwyn and Delaney and I love the friendship these two are starting. Delaney has the coolest besties.
I loved getting to see the fatherly relationship between Delaney and Josiah. He really steps up as Alpha to lead his pack to do what is right and not shun people for being different when that is easy and safe.

Seriously Lucy is the worst! If you thought Heather was horrible, her daughter is definitely trying to win #1 baddie of Billings in this book. Jessica really writes a solid bad guy to push her hero’s to their limit.

The roller coaster Blood took me on left me with a major book hangover. I can’t get everything that happened out of my head and I really with it was June so we could see how Cole and Delaneys story will end.

If you haven’t read any of the books in this series yet, what is wrong with you? JK, get started on book 1 today, you don’t want to miss this adventure.

As if Delaney's world couldn't get any more complicated, she and Cole may finally be able to come to an understanding about how their lives are entwined, only for everything to shift and turn upside down. With a new villain in the picture who wants all of the power to herself, it's a race against time and the odds to find a way to get to the source of the power before it falls into the wrong hands. But there are other forces in play that could prove detrimental to their relationship and to that of the world beyond the supernatural.

These characters come to life on the pages. They make the reader want to fall in love and dole out punishment for those who oppose the good they are trying to do. Every time I think this author has found the height of the story, she adds something that I never saw coming and completely changes the dynamic. It makes me excited for the next book in the series.

Cole & Delaney go through so much, but can they beat Lucy?

In this book we learn what dead walkers are, like zombies. And Lucy brings back her nightshade pets. Delaney was found in Faerie. Why that idea never crossed her friends minds, especially Fearghas, I'll never know. In Montana all the supernaturals have gone into hiding. They don't want to be a part of Lucy's psycho war. I wouldn't either. Who wants to be turned into a puppet? I can't wait for them to kill Bestiny! That girl drives me crazy & is trying to turn the whole pack against Delaney. The fact that she still believes she could make Cole happy when he's found his mate shows you how messed up in the head she is. You mate for life. When you find your mate there is no one else to look at, only your mate! I will warn you there is death and darkness at the end of the book. It's pretty bleak!

I love all things Jessica Wayne, and the Vampire Chronicles is some of her very best work! Each book gets better and better. We're back with Del, Cole, Rainey, Fearghas, and the rest of the Scooby Gang! Things are heating up with Lucy, and we pick up where we left off in Curse of the Witch. Nothing seems easy for our gang, and they face struggle after struggle. Don't worry, there are definitely some good times mixed in, with the usual humor of Fearghas and Rainey to help break up tensions, and some excellent steamy scenes (where can I get me a shifter!?)! Not gonna lie, I was feeling some kind of way at the end of this one, and all I know is I legit can't WAIT for Rise of the Witch, book 3 in Del and Cole's trilogy! I can't recommend this series, or Jessica's work, enough!

This series gets better and better. An ancient witch is after Delaney but no one knows for sure who she is. Just when things start to heat up between her and Cole, this witch attacks over and over. The Wolf pack is threatened and attacked. Delaney wants to protect everyone but has little control over her magic still. When she is kidnapped and can't be found everyone is horrified at what may be happening to her. They know that her blood is needed to increase Lucy's power. If that happens, all may be lost. Non stop action and mystery. One minute you are crying and the next you are rejoicing. This series is a don't put type of story. And, of course, a cliffhanger ending- AGAIN!! I can't wait for next one.

Things are so complicated!!Why is that?! whatever our heroines do, the villain out does it. every. single. time. Is freaking annoying because i swear its a great mofo plan.. but of course nothing is easy! 😭 it’s loaded with non-stop action, romance and heavy testosterone sarcasm to make you giggle! some girl drama too 🤜🏻. this will keep you hooked and never let go! ps. Fearghas is everything!!! HE again steals the show! This isn't his story but i swear it should be! HE MAKES IT WORTHWHILE AND I ALWAYS look for him. I smile with him. I giggle with him. i cry with him. HE is the reason I'm reading this series.#sorryNOTsorry#NobodyISgoodEnoughforHIm#onlyME#

Romance that makes you swoon and non-stop action that keeps you engaged to the very last page.

Wow Jessica Wayne reins supreme. All I can say is I read Delaney's story thinking it was the best books I've read this year and nit wanting to continue with Delaney's story because nothing could top it. Boy was I wrong. I don't know how she does it. You think no book could top the one you just read and it's like she pulls a rabbit out of a magic hat proving you wrong time and again but that's fine with me. She can keep the magic flowing and I will eagerly keep reading because Jessica Wayne is a paranormal writing genius.
The romance makes you swoon, the action keeps you engaged, and it makes you turn off your phone and keeps you awake until the very last page.

Blood of the Witch by Jessica Wayne is Book 5 in the Vampire Huntress Chronicles series. Like all Jessica Wayne's books, the world building and character development are phenomenal as you become very emotionally involved. The action is nonstop and the romance is great. Delaney and Cole's relationship is taking off (heating up). Delaney is really developing personally and as a witch. This is excellently written and keeps you turning pages to the end and wanting more especially after the cliffhanger. It is filled with adventure, intrigue, danger, magic and murder. This is a must read series (important to read in order) and book which I highly recommend. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.

Wow! Blood of the Witch, book 5 in Jessica Wayne's Vampire Huntress Chronicles, is so intense I couldn't put it down! The fight between Delaney, Cole and the rest of the crew versus Lucy has rocketed to a whole new level. Who will be left standing at the end, and will there be anything left of the city of Billings to save?

The storyline is fast-paced and very well written, filled with magic, paranormals, adventure, intrigue, subterfuge, danger and murder. The characters are so well done that you feel like you are right there with them. Delaney really expands more, both personally and as a witch. The ending was so intense that I can't wait for the next one to come out!

In all fairness, I accepted this ARC without realizing it was Book 5 in a series. While I read the whole book, I felt behind and like I was missing stuff … well because I missed the first 4 books.

It was well written, had great world builing and interesting Characters. I couldn’t get as into characters as I would like because at this point, I should already know them and well, I don’t.

Read the other 4 books first & I am sure you will love this book!

Delaney, Cole, Fearghas, Rainey, Elijah are back again and will take you on a ride that you won't forget. This emotionally charged, action packed, edge of your seat that will have you in tears, laughing and by the end you will either cry, or get mad probably both. Will they be able to defeat Lucy ans save themselves and the world or will they pay the ultimate price? Mrs. Wayne has done it again and left me breathless, enthalled and wanting more. I'm waiting wirh bated breath for next to see what happens.

This book had me sitting on the edge of my seat from the start to the end.
Blood of the Witch picks up where the last book left off with Lucy kidnapping Delaney and Bronywyn. Which leaves Cole willing to do anything to find his mate.

I really enjoyed this book. It will definitely leave you feeling so many emotions and definitely wanting the next book right away!

If you like paranormal books full of witches, vampires, Fae, and Hunters you need to check out this great series!

Another installment with untold excitement and more than plenty of action. Nothing is ever easy and even the best laid plans can garner problems. Fearghas takes a little center stage in this book and I so loved it and him. This was an easy, but fast paced read that hit all the marks. The characters are strong, emotional, enticing, relatable and just plain fun. I’m on the edge waiting for the next book.

In Book 5, Cole, Rainey, and Elijah are stunned to see Delaney and Bronwyn snatched through a portal to who knows where. Even with everyone searching, they are not able to spot or scent the hiding place of Delaney and Bronwyn. Even the fae Fearghas can not find them. Between many fights with the evil witch Lucy, there is much death, romance, and steam. Highly recommended.

Brilliant yet heartbreaking 5th book in this series. Great characters that I love in a twisted tale that left me craving for more, seriously June cannot come quick enough. There are parts that will leave you wondering why, however I can say no more without spoilers but you will need tissues.
This book is part of a series and as such the previous books must be read to follow the plot.

This book is really fascinating. It has a unique twist that had me pulled in right from the start. Our MC was caught between life and death for two years. What??? Yep and it doesn't end there. The characters and world-building are excellent and I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait for more in the series!
