ARC review

Rating: 5/5
Spice: 5/5

I am obsessed with The Prism Society. Like I NEED more. I already sent Gabi Salas a message telling her this cannot be a standalone.

Emma and Liam are childhood best friends that drift apart due to college and moves away from home. As Emma is entering the last stage of college and venturing into a part of life she’s dreamed and strived for, Liam shows up back in her life. Liam is in New York for a big business adventure that he’s being very secretive about. Emma and Liam have to decide to rekindle their friendship or explore more and does Emma’s world fit into the mysterious new world of The Prism Society?

Gabi Salas is a new to me author but I am here for her!!! I am absolutely obsessed with this book. Did I already say that? I would’ve loved for a little more action to start sooner in the book and get a little more in the end but the book is still phenomenal. I had a hard time putting it down. I am praying to the book people that there is more to come whether it be another character from this book or a continuation of Emma and Liam.

I love me a sex club trope. Like they’re my favorite and this one was so well written. I think for me the spice and kinks that come from a sex club book is just way up there on the spice meter and Gabi doesn’t disappoint and leaves little to the imagination 🥵🥵🥵.

You have to read this!!!

This was such an unexpectedly sweet book. I wasn't expecting that when I saw it involved kink and a sex club.

I loved that this was childhood best friends to lovers and that he fell first. I was definitely rooting for Liam from the very beginning of the story. He was sweet and respectful, and I loved that he gave Emma exactly what she needed while staying true to himself.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. It is all written from Emma's POV, and I thought it was done really well. She was in her own head a lot, and I wish she would have communicated a little bit more.

I think this book is perfect for those who want to experience a book full of kink and self-discovery without the book being dark and full of trigger warning.

A huge thank you to Gabi Salas and The Author Agency for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of the book. I will definitely be checking out more from Gabi!

First of all, a big thank you to the editor, the author and The Author Agency for sending me this ARC.

There are lots of things I liked in here, and a couple that bugged me a little.
I’ll be honest, I was a bit bothered by « how well » it was written. I’m not used to long sentences describing feelings in details, with flourish, it was a bit long sometimes (if that makes sense ?).
Okay « bothered » might be a bit hard. I am not judging at all, I’m just not used to this writing style.
But the plus side of this is that you can expect a very well written book.
Also, the relationship between the MCs was sometimes a bit weird (the way they reconnect at the start left me a bit surprised).

But ! I really liked the way Emma’s growth is portrayed in here. Her feelings, her doubts, her fears… I really enjoyed that part of the story.
Also, the sex positivity in this book, how everyone just wants to create a safe place for those who need it, was awesome.
And Liam was amazing. He is a very good character. I would have loved to have his POV.

For a first book, it’s overall impressive. I really hope we’ll have more later, maybe about Dom and Jessie ?

Thankyou to Voracious Readers Only and Gabi Salas for a free e-arc copy of this book.
I did enjoy this book overall. It was a little slow and repetitive in places but overall interesting.
I wish we got more of the friendship instead of jumping straight to lovers but it was still good.

I received this book for free, this does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review

His eyes held mine in a silent conversation, filled with unsaid words and hushed confessions that had yet to cross our lips. It was as if his stare was whispering secrets his voice couldn't articulate.

The Prism Society tells the story of childhood friends, Emma and Liam, as they separate after Emma leaves town to go to design school in NYC and Liam continues his college in UCLA. The story opens with Emma leaving and while it's clear that two years older Liam has missed Emma at college and there are some feelings there, Emma only sees the diving head first into freedom and women Liam has partaken in after escaping his extremely restrictive parents. While they try to keep in touch through texts and social media, a surprise visit, where Emma sees in real time Liam about to hook-up with a woman, has her running away and slowly distancing herself, they eventually lose touch for three years. But when Liam shows up out of the blue as Emma's about to graduate in NYC, they find that time and growing up has only ignited their chemistry.

It was as if we were picking up right where we left off, but this time, we weren't just teenagers dreaming about what our lives could be. This time, we were adults living our own separate lives, hoping they somehow intersected.

The first half of this started off slower, with a New Adult vibe (Emma is 22yrs old and Liam 24yrs old) and Emma trying to work towards her dream of interior design. Told all from Emma's point-of-view, we get a lot about her worrying about her career. Her college career is skipped through, with her roommate Jessie getting added in as a secondary character and their shared dream of working for the “it” company Spectra. Since Emma talked about how it was her and her mother's shared dream and how close they were, I wish we would have gotten to see more of this relationship, instead of a very quick ending scene between the two. However, Liam comes back into the picture and the two realize they still have those feelings for each other that they were trying to hide before. Since we don't get Liam's pov, his character didn't feel as flushed out to me. You can tell that he has feelings for Emma, but his relationship with his friend and business partner Dominic and why they're working to set-up a club where people can be free to safely and consensually indulge in their chosen physical activities, isn't really delved into; it felt like a wobbly constructed table to get Liam to be able to say “good girl” a couple times.

“I see the beauty in The Prism Society. I see the beauty in what you're trying to create. And I'm sorry that it took me this long to admit that to myself...and to you.”

The conflict comes about because when Emma gets a job at Spectra, she has to sign a non-compete but she just can't help herself with helping Liam design his new club, even coming up with the name. It makes it hard to feel bad for her when it all comes back to bite her, because, she clearly knew she was in the wrong but just kept forging ahead anyway. There's some misplaced blame put on Liam and then Emma deciding a new path for herself that eventually, in the very last few pages, has her getting back with Liam. As far as the “spicy romance” tag, your mileage may vary. I don't consider any and all open door scenes in romance to be “smut”, I actually never use the term, but I know some younger and newer readers to romance have different thoughts on this. Liam is into voyeurism, which is where you could say the steamier scenes come from, there's a handful of them but they're fairly short and, yeah, “good girl” gets thrown around but there wasn't a lot of intimacy to them, more of the by rote “this sounds hot” that gets shared around; closer to a Tessa Bailey and far from a Cherise Sinclair. I did like how Emma and Liam started off open and addressing issues and this did have readability, but I thought the first half showed more care in setting up the story, while the latter half wobbled around and wasn't sturdy enough to deliver a hot engrossing read.

Bear with me on this one... I have conflicting feelings about this book for personal reasons, so I'm going to do my best to be objective in this review.

Emma and Liam are childhood best friends who drift apart when they attend colleges at opposite ends of the continent. Emma is nearing the end of college and is prepping for her dream job. Suddenly, Liam reenters her life seeking her interior design help with a business adventure that he's very secretive about. As Emma enters into Liam's world, she is faced with a personal struggle of which path to take.

I don't know what I was expecting when I read the synopsis on the back of the cover, but I was not expecting the business adventure to be a s€x club....that's on me.

Things I liked about this story:

• The promotion of "s€x positivity". As Liam mentions in the book, this is a topic that is often taboo to talk about...especially in a religious upbringing. I like the idea of normalizing talking about it as a source of pleasure opposed to just for reproduction.

• I LOVED Emma! She is a planner!! She mapped out her whole life plan and has done everything to obtain her 'dream' job. However, once she gets her dream job, she's not satisfied because it is not what she expects it to be. Instead of altering her plans, she sticks with it thinking, "Maybe this is how it's supposed to be....at least at the beginning." I feel like this journey is one so many people face, which is why it is incredibly relatable. I liked seeing her work through that.

• It's a quick read.

• The author is so descriptive with the architecture of the buildings in this book. You can picture it perfectly....like you're looking right at them.

I felt like the evolvement of Emma and Liam's relationship happened somewhat quickly. Emma's naivety with regarding her non-compete was a bit frustrating.

Warning:
• Explicit scenes (people have different feelings about this, so decide for yourself)
• The s€x club setting comes with some morally grey areas that some may have strong feelings about.

"Good girl"

Emma and Liam grew up together in a small town, best friends that did everything together, supported each other, and Emma’s family offered Liam and an escape from his overbearing family.
Until Emma moves across the country to follow her design dreams to college in NYC.
Graduating college with her bestie Jessie, applying for internships and landing their dream role as designers at Spectra - the cities elite design firm, with very strict non-compete (if you work for them, you only design for them)
Liam finds himself in New York to reconnect with Emma whilst planning and developing his new business with his best friend Dom. These two are opening a sex club of sorts and
Emma is drawn into the world and to her rekindling connection with Liam. She finds herself overflowing with design ideas for Liam’s new venture. But will she risk what she worked so hard for to stay at Spectra, or will she choose her own way with The Prism Society.

I really like the first half of this one, it’s was enticing, well paced and made you want to keep reading.
It slowed a little for me and became a bit repetitive with the FMC knowing she was breaching her non-compete by designing for someone else and became a big to-do when they found out (rather than her being proud of her work and leaving the silly company in the first place) - I also didn’t think it was enough of a barrier for the FMC/MMC to not be together at this point in the book.
I did love the way the buildings and architecture was described throughout the boi, it really did feel like you were there!

Okay, rounding up from a 2.5...

The story was well written and I enjoyed the concept of where the idea of the Prism Society came from. Emma and Liam reconnect after years away from each other - after quite the miscommunication to rekindle what they had in their past. They never explicitly told each other how they felt so when they got back together years later they had to figure it out. I wish there was more tension, especially because of how easy it seemed for Emma to slip right into his life and his preferences even though it was something she had never done before or felt comfortable doing with anyone else. Overall the writing was well done, the descriptions of the buildings beautiful, and the reality of what you would think your dream job would be was so realistic when everything doesn't exactly turn out how you expected.

The reason I rated low had nothing to do with the idea of the salacious club, honestly I think it was done really well and so were the spice scenes but my main issue was with how Emma really didn't think at about what would happen with her job and assisting while she was in a noncompete clause - this was so glaringly obvious what was going to happen and what led to the predictable 3rd act breakup. My other main issue is the whole point of the club was to be open to sexual freedom, exploration, and education so I was severely disappointed in the fact that no condoms were used at all, no mention of birth control, and this was totally fine? Especially with the focus on making sure everyone felt safe, and the fact that one of the owners never even thought to have the conversations about protection before was a hard no for me.

A debut friends to lovers novel by a new author. Emma has always had the dream of becoming a designer and working for a prestigious design firm. As her dreams start to become real, her childhood best friend comes back into her life and opens her eyes to a spicy new world. Liam was raised in a strict and single-minded family, so he often escaped to Emma’s house, his BFF. As he leaves for college and the constraints of his family, he tests boundaries and loses himself until a new friend helps rein him in and shows him a potential new future. Deciding on a new business venture, he knows the one person that can help him is Emma, that he has lost contact with over the years. When the two reconnect, will old friendships be rekindled and how will they navigate the adult versions of themselves. When dreams become harsh realities and new experiences lead to unimaginable pleasure, one must take a second look at the difference between a life of safety and comfort to that of one of adventure and discovery. A great look into the lives of two friends as they navigate new beginnings both personal and professional, and how life isn’t what we always expected, but sometimes, it’s even better. I enjoyed all the characters including Dominic and Jessie (their friends) and hope to see them in another book. There were some grammatical issues but nothing that detracted from the story overall that I felt had a powerful message about self-discovery, acceptance, forgiveness and friendship along with some spicy scenes. I look forward to more from this author.

Okay, so... this one was an okay read for me 😩
It was really promising and I loved the tropes but I guess it was just good but not great.

The concept of the story was really promising : I loved the idea of best-friends becoming lovers after years of college being apart, especially since they've always loved each other but never acted on it... I also loved that they rekindle and he's now a sex club co-owner and wants to hire her as the designer for his new club right after she graduated...
But honestly it just didn't hit the mark 🙁
Parts of the book were pretty long (I skipped some tbh) and it just kept the rythme slow.

I feel like it could have had more tension, more build up, and more spice ! I mean he's a damn sex club owner lol

On the other hand, Emma and Liam were great and I truly loved how we could feel their love for each other. They care about each other and definitely want to get their relationship to the next level without ruining what they have.
They quickly give into the attraction and wanna explore more... especially Emma who's newly introduced to this new kinky world 😏
To me, getting to see them reconnect with each other while exploring that part of them was the most interesting :)

I definitely recommend this read to anyone wanting to start their smut journey, it's a cute love story with hints of spice, perfect to build your way up the genre ;)

If you're like me and already have your whole body dipped in the holy smut romance water, then you might not enjoy it as much.
Also, this is written in only 1 POV and past tense, just so you know !

Don't let the cover fool you

I enjoyed this book. The characters were nuanced and deep. The tropes are all some of my favorite, so when I saw this book, I knew I had to read it.

Liam and Emma are estranged best friends who reconnect and discover so much about each other and themselves. I liked that there was clear growth for both characters throughout the story and that there was clear and open communication between the characters throughout.

While this book has some spice and ranks higher on my scale, I wouldn't say it's super spicy. The author did a good job of creating a story that was meaningful and full of heart while adding in a splash of sexy time.

I'm excited to see what Gabi writes next and hope we see more of the characters in this book.

I was given an early copy of this book for my honest opinion.

Tropes: Estranged Best Friends to Lovers, Childhood Friends, Small Town to Big City (NYC), Post College Coming of Age, Sex Club, Voyeurism, Exhibitionism, Stuff With Other People (while watching), Toys, Sex Positivity, He Falls First

Favorite Quote(s):
I felt like an improper queen, laying back and getting devoured while getting to watch the private moments of others.

“Being around you is the most comfortable, easy thing in the world. And I’m afraid that one day you’ll wake up and realize that you don’t like what’s standing in front of you.”

“Open your eyes. I want you to watch us.” Liam’s voice was in my ear, and I didn’t think twice before complying. “Good girl.”

Yeah this was not for me.

I wouldn’t say there’s anything inherently wrong with the book to me (except for when the FMC said “I hope to Dumbledore” please don’t do that again) but I just couldn’t get into this.

I really liked the premise of this book but I feel like it just wasn’t executed in a way I personally enjoy. The pacing wasn’t it for me, it felt like it was slow moving and nothing was really going on but somehow their romance went 0-100 way too quick.

There’s no real buildup between the two, they were apart for years and while I can definitely believe their lust/attraction for each other would still be there, I just didn’t feel any tension or actual buildup for me to care that they got together.

I also found myself more interested in the side characters than the mains, I liked the dialogue and relationships between them and felt like it did add a little something to the story.

The spice was fun as well, I liked that we got the club aspects and some mild kink exploration.

The third act conflict was just not it for me. It felt too forced and drawn out for no reason really? I also think one of the characters in the story was really underdeveloped, there was something brought up about the way he gets away with stuff but it’s never addressed again so it really felt unfinished.

Overall, it had some fun, cute moments, the dialogue for the most part was fun and the spice was good but it just wasn’t for me.

The Prism Society is well written, especially considering it’s a debut! This author is particularly great at writing descriptions. The heroine Emma is a designer, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the author has some knowledge of design. A lot of great descriptive detail was included in the writing, which made picturing the scenes really easy. At times it was almost too much detail, I had to stop myself from skimming some of those sections.

I enjoyed the friendship between Emma and her best friend a lot. The found family here was cute too! I did feel we didn’t see enough of the initial relationship/friendship between Liam and Emma to understand the instalove they fell back into so quickly. I also felt their communication could have been better.

One concern I had was there was no mention of protection or testing for members(or non members touring), and given that it takes place in an adult club and safety to explore was such a big part of the story I didn’t find that realistic. You may have to suspend your disbelief in that area.

I expected this book to be spicier than it was! It certainly has its moments, but for a book surrounding an adult club, it was surprisingly tame. If you’re new to books like this and you’re wanting to dip your toes in, I actually think The Prism Society is a great starting point. There was a lot of focus on Emma’s career journey after graduating, which will make it maybe easier to transition to for newer readers of this sub-genre.

Thank you to The Author Agency and Gabi Salas for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book is a new one for me. Diving into topics I’ve never really read about. It’s done in such a tasteful and thoughtful way. Long time friends are separated across the US one in California and one in New York… they have a deep connection but neither dare to look closer only hints and unspoken glances. But a sad misunderstanding of their feelings leaves them drifting apart for years. When a twist of fate comes to life after a all too coincidental horoscope reveals Liam at Emma’s door weeks before she graduates and embarks on her long time dream job he upends her world in a magnificent way. Opening her mind, soul, and body to a world she never imagined she would find herself. But as she tries to juggle two lives the collide and she’s faced with metamorphosis that brings her a wonderful life with the one who was always just beyond her. This story is full of second, and third chances, real communication, owning your power, starting over, and accepting your greatest no matter what others think. I really enjoyed the story and the transformation the characters had throughout the book. Definitely one for the TBR!!

Emma is a design student, and she just got her dream job working with her best friend, Jessie, at Spectra – the top design firm in New York. She ends up reconnecting with her childhood best friend, Liam. She’d always had a little bit of a crush on him, but she never told him.

Liam had a very strict upbringing, and Emma’s family was a welcome reprieve for him. When he left home, he really delved into the more “depraved” parts of himself and learned a lot about his true interests.

Seeing Emma again brought back old feelings, and now he wants her to stay in his life again. His plans are to open a sex club and have Emma design it. But working with Liam means going against her contract with Spectra. So, Emma has to decide what she really wants to do – keep her internship with Spectra, her dream job or work with her childhood best friend/crush designing a sex club and learning all that goes on in them.

Emma was a fantastic designer. She could really picture how she wanted everything to look, and it worked well. My issue is that she knew she was breaching her non-compete agreement, but she tried to justify it. And at a big event, her photo was obviously going to be taken, thus making her get caught. But more than that was the way she reacted when she did get caught. She basically blamed Liam and pushed him away. Also, I didn’t feel like she groveled enough to win him back, so she was lucky he was so understanding and forgiving.

Other than that, I really liked seeing Emma and Liam together. They were childhood best friends, and it was obvious that the years apart didn’t really change their bond. They still had great conversations and so much faith in each others’ dreams and aspirations. And Liam really opened up Emma’s eyes to a whole new world — which she took to rather quickly.

This is a single, first person POV book with some growth, self-discovery and acceptance, and strong bonds of friendship.

I loved the premise of The Prism Society.

— cue for spoilers | avoid now while you still can —

The fact that they build a sex club together was such an interesting context. I loved seeing some behind-the-scenes of that journey, and I loved to see the design process unfold. I am a very visual thinker so I could see all of these spaces unfold in my mind and loved how each of the clubs was so different.

Some downsides for me were that there was not much build-up in the tension between Liam & Emma. It went from best friends to sexual interactions right away. And, even though it was clear that they both liked each other by then, I wish there had been a bit more of a buildup in sexual tension before they had their first sexual encounter.

I also really couldn’t grasp the naïveté of Emma as she went against a non-compete clause, and then apparently worked on some designs at her job… I thought she was lucky to get off with only being fired, she could have been sued instead. I was in my head yelling “how can you be so stupid” during that part of the story 😂 it just made her less relatable, for me.

I wish we’d seen more of Dominic & Jessie, as well. They were super interesting side characters and I would have loved to see more of them in the story, especially towards the end.

So all in all, great smut with an interesting premise but some things holding me back from giving all 5 stars ⭐️

Really enjoyed this book! Kink and sex-positive, with emphasis on choice and consent, and safety above all else. It's so awesome to see a book hit all the marks for responsible portrayal of kink.

Emma dreams of being an interior designer and is almost done her degree, hopeful that she will land her dream job at a big company. She's surprised to find that her childhood/teenage best friend shows up outside her dorm - but he has grown UP, if you catch my drift. Liam comes back into her life and things between these two progress in a way that feels very organic for two people who were friends, then drifted apart, and now reconnect with a new undertone of sexual tension that Emma isn't sure what to make of.

As they reconnect, Liam is also working on making his dream come true by opening a club where like-minded people can freely and safely express themselves and their kinks. He encourages Emma to lend her creative talents to his business, but she struggles with wanting to stay at her big corporate job versus letting all of that go to take a gamble on the opportunity with Liam. Her feelings on her job and her future are complex and not something she easily solves, which is what makes her such a relatable character.

Grab this book if you like to read about friends to lovers, sex clubs, kinks, and a whole lotta safe communication 😊

Full transparency - I was an early Beta Reader on Gabi Salas' debut novel, The Prism Society.

I read romance books like crazy, and I think what sets this book apart is the almost lyrical writing, the vivid descriptions, the scenery that all play a part in painting a picture of this beautiful space and these interesting characters. I enjoyed that the MMC, Liam, is a good guy! His passion for his work and for the FMC make him so likeable. While this book is very spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️ - yes and about a sex club 🔥 - yes, there is also a full transformation of a woman discovering herself, figuring out what she wants to do, going against the norm, and embracing and just following what feels right. 🙌 A FMC who is literally the designer of her own dreams is pretty badass to cheer on. Oh and the spice between the characters, yeah, I’ll mention again…it's hot. 🥵 I'm really looking forward to future stories with some of the supporting characters!

One of my fave lines from the FMC’s mom (page 255):
“The dream is in you. It will remain with you wherever you go, whatever you do, whoever you are with. It is your dream, and you have the power to shape it the way you want.”

I received a copy of this book from Voracious Readers Only in exchange for my honest review.

Between the promising synopsis for this book and the author's note in the beginning, I expected to be far less underwhelmed by this book. It just was not my cup of tea.
I didn't feel the supposed connection between the characters. The attempts made to lay the groundwork for a friends to lovers relationship read less like Emma and Liam had a genuine, long time, pre-existing connection that took place before the events of this novel and more like a flat plot point, which therefore left this work very lacking in both the spice and just the general romance department.
I personally also found it ridiculous and unrealistic that Emma thought she could break an NDA to work with a business, especially one that's run out of a historical building and not eventually be found out. If this wasn't a book, losing her job would literally be the least of her problems. There is no universe where she wouldn't actually face a lawsuit and fines.

All that being said, I do appreciate the sex-positive aspects sprinkled throughout and I was glad to see Emma continue to follow her dreams of being a designer.

This isn't a terrible book, this isn't the worst thing I've ever read- It just didn't reach the right audience this time around.

Liam shares his business proposal with Emma and asks if she’ll design it. She’s hesitant since she works for a big company and doesn’t want to get caught working for someone else.

Review:
I was really hopeful about this book. The blurb, the concept, the main character has my name 😉. This was a good read, but not a great one. For a debut, I’m pleased with the quality of writing and descriptions throughout.

I loved the friendship between Emma and Jessie. I really loved how Liam has loved Emma for a long time and how neither of them truly voiced their feelings early on. It was a good set up for the story. The spicy time was great.

However, I would have liked if there was more tension between Emma and Liam before they fell right back into their friendship or before they got physical. It felt like it just went too quickly. Also, would have loved if they had talked more about what she was comfortable/uncomfortable with doing during spicy time since she had no k!nk experience.

I was curious about Liam, a lot. So I would have loved if the book was dual POV. Also, found him very interesting and would’ve liked to have more information on why he was so messed up in the beginning of his college years, besides the general family drama.

The thing that was great in the story was how Emma’s “dream job” was depicted and how it fell short of the ideas we have about success. I saw the issues at that place early on due to my own experience with misogyny. However, the 3rd act drama leading to a breakup just wasn’t believable because you’d have to be really obtuse to not realize you’re going to get fired for violating your contractual non-compete clause.

The self-discovery the characters accomplish is beautiful. I appreciate that Emma does learn things about herself and has her own sort of awakening, leading to her feeling confident and proud.

So this book is probably good for people who don’t want extreme k!nk or darker themes and situations, or excessive depiction. It’s like a good toe-dipper for salacious, spicy club stories.

I enjoyed this book. I loved that we got to see a sex club be built and the behind the scenes of it all. I enjoyed the friendship of Emma and Jessie. Jessie is good for Emma. At points I wanted to shake Emma for not telling Liam what she was thinking and feeling. They would just have conflict and she would run. But I can look past that because her growth in this book was great! She had a something she needed to overcome and as soon as she did it was like she was breathing for the first time. As a reader you could feel that. Liam grew up so unsure of himself and once he had the freedom to explore the world around him things changed for him. When he was shown the right path it led him where he was meant to be…with Emma. Liam and Emma are a great team and what they are creating for people is going to be great!

Tropes:
•Childhood Best Friends to Lovers
•He Fell First
•Coming of Age
•Small Town to Big City
•Solid Female Friendship
•Chosen Family
•Sex Club Happenings
•Exhibitionism
•Voyeurism
•”Good girl”

Quote: “ I was not the Emma with stepped into Spectra with trembling hands and starry eyes. I was Emma, who dared to dream differently, who is brave enough to let go of the past and look forward to a future that was truly my own.”

I adored Liam and his courage to be unapologetically himself. I felt so inspired by the things he would say I would catch myself tearing up. His maturity and confidence to be able to say what he’s feeling and put it out there, and then give Emma all the time she needs to process these big life changes is unmatched in other mmc in similar *professions* as Liam. On the other hand, I wanted to shake Emma. Although I completely understand her reservations and hesitancy, her back and forth upset me for Liam’s sake.. at first. And this is why I rated this book so highly.. ✨character development✨ we didn’t really get that with Liam, because he didn’t need it. And Emma even says in the beginning that she feels Liam has grown and matured so much in their time apart and she’s still the same Emma, and maybe at that time it was true. I really enjoyed Emma figuring things out and finding her own path, even if I wish she would have done it sooner. ;) highly recommend if this is your cup of tea. Liam is the perfect golden retriever boy. Now I’m ready for the quiet broody Dominic! 🖤

Thank you to the author and VRO for the copy of this book in return for an honest review.

There were a few typos in the text, but only a couple scattered here and there, not enough to be annoying.

The FMC grew throughout the book, giving the reader an insight into her own limitations and subsequent liberations. The promotion of accepting and embracing sexuality in a positive way is great. The sex scenes are not gratuitous in the way that many are in smutty books. There’s a purpose for them, and it’s not just about depicting them as graphically as possible, it’s about the feelings that go along with it. I LOVED the MMC, and the childhood friends to lovers trope in this worked well. I’d love to read more about Emma and Liam, and hope there will be a continuation of this story, with more of Jess and Dom too.

I liked the author’s design descriptions in this too. It makes me wonder if she’s a designer herself, or at least personally knows an interior designer and spoke to them while writing this book?

All in all, an enjoyable read, really well written for the most part, and I would be interested in reading more from this author.

Oh My God!!! Please dont let the innocence of the artistic copy fool you, this book is riddled with spice!

5/5 Stars!
Overall, i’d place this book at a 5/5.
The chemistry between the characters pours out of the pages, and the passion is enough to make you blush. Plus, constant reminders of safety and comfort is an extra touch that just made it that little extra special, for me.

4/5 Spice!
The Prism Society definitely had me considering some new things in all the best ways. I wont give too much away, as I dont want to spoil anything for anyone, however, it definitely explores voyeurism in a more tame way. The slow steps they took to learn what each other likes is very nice to see, as it made it feel more genuine. However, not one mention of a condom? mentioning *that* much experience but no condom? Kind of goes against everything the book is about.

5/5 Hearts!
This book definitely pulls on the heart strings. I will admit, i cried once or twice, but i swooned a million more times! It doesnt play into the "every MMC needs to be a billionaire" so it feels a lot more authentic (as much as a book can).

I started reading this in the morning whilst waiting for an appointment. I then spent the rest of the day checking in and covering more and more of the story. I found this book to be a pageturner.

Stripped back, we have a tale about a person who for the majority of her life has followed a path to a goal she thought she wanted, only to find that it's not all that it was cracked up to be. It is a feeling so many know so well after graduating from university or completing training. All that time and effort in jumping hoops, and actually you'd rather be doing something else.

The book also explores the different types of love in the world- friendships, lovers, art and so on and may leave you thinking about the ways in which we can express or repress aspects of ourselves.
Finally, yes, there's quite a bit of spicy interaction, some of which may be boggling. However, these are not the moments I will remember.

I liked the book most becuase about what it said about friendships... because after family, what else is there?

Thank you to Voratious Readers and BookFunnel for letting me read a copy of this story in exchange for this entirely personal reflection.

“The Prism Society” tells the story of two childhood friends who part ways to pursue their ambitions and dreams in different parts of the country. The author displays a unique writing style, and her ability to vividly describe scenes is quite remarkable; Much like the protagonist herself— her artistic expression is beautiful - I enjoyed getting to know Emma and her appreciation, passion, and ambition for unique expression through her career in design.

Both Emma and Liam reconnect and find themselves collaborating on a project—The Prism Society, a dream of Liam’s after a period of self-discovery led him to want to share a safe, encouraging space for others; while Emma’s strong work ethic and passions help Liam bring his dreams to life.

It is a beautifully told story of self-discovery, growth, passion, and love and a focal point of being free to be safe in your own skin.
I sincerely appreciated learning about interior design, witnessing a robust work ethic and dedication to making dreams a reality… and realizing that sometimes dreams can evolve as we ourselves change.

I found the story to be told from a respectful viewpoint filled with nuance...and affection.

✍️ The story follows Emma and Liam. Liam is a charmer and a half. He was so swoonworthy and I adored him for being so encouraging of Emma. I respected Emma for being so openminded and determined to show everybody that hard work and resilience mean everything. The TENSION WAS ASTOUNDING and the exploration of everyone’s sexuality was done beautifully.
The spice in this book is some of the best I have ever read. It was very descriptive that will make you fantasize 👀
I also loved how Gabi described the look of The Prism Society. It made me paint a very clear picture in my head of how it looked. And I will also say that more books should talk about the importance of sex and not only about the act of doing it. This one did just that.

!!! The Prism Society is coming out on September 28 on Amazon. Pre-order your copy now.

🎶 There is an incredible Spotify playlist of this book on there.

Summary:
Emma and Liam have been best friends since they were younger. When Emma moves to New York for college their friendship changes. Liam pops back in her life and with a proposition. He wants Emma to design his new club for him. Emma is now torn between the job of her dreams and her passion.

My Thoughts:
Gabi is a new author and she absolutely wrote an amazing first book!! I loved everything about it. Emma was on a journey of self discovery and sexuality. Liam was on a journey of finding the love and comfort he wanted as a kid. Together they needed each other, they helped each other grow while giving themselves room to grow and figure out life. I found this book to be so relatable: self discovery, finding family in your friends, taking a leap of faith on your dreams, and turning your hobby/passion into a job. Especially in the job realm where you have this dream job and it’s not all what you envisioned it to be like. If you haven’t already order/download this book now!!
