You would think that after reconciling with his daughters after his wife’s untimely death that life would move forward positively, but truthfully, it has become stagnant. Dick fears what he has become, but is unaware of his true nature. His mind is at odds with himself.
He hasn’t found success living alone, but he is making friends that continue to make him question his own values. Is he meant to be a hero, a villain, or something in between? Maybe he will understand himself and his true purpose when he allows a woman to enter his life and help to guide him on this journey. Dick is alone because paranoia rules his thoughts. Richard believes he should let his baser instincts guide his path. Who’s right? Who knows?
