Lia, the author, is the daughter of college friends of mine. Ive had this book on my kindle for way to long. I absolutely loved this story. It didnt seem like it was written by a 6th grader at the time. I did see an few grammatical things, but they were nothing huge. Not a big deal. Very good job Lia!! You have a great imagination.

This is one of the best books l've ever read. The whole time I was reading it, I forgot it was written by a teen author. The plot and characters are so well developed, and I got lost in the story. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good book.

Jinx is a young, orphan girl who lives in a kingdom where magic is banned. Based on her history of bad luck, Jinx is sure she has magic but doesn't know for sure until the testing day. Sure enough, she does. Along with a few others, she is carted away to a facility where they make her work. A few of the teens there band together and start a club of sorts where they learn magic in order to potentially revolt against the government that's making their lives so miserable.
