Disclaimer: I’m not giving this two stars because I didn’t like it. It was a great story with so many positive themes. It just wasn’t the book for me.

I won this book in a giveaway. I loved everything about it. Well written and hard to put down. I think everyone should read it, a great graduation gift for a recent HS graduate. I put it right up there with The Last Lecture as a good candidate for required HS reading. After finishing I immediately ordered 3 hard copies, one each for my 17 year old that just graduated, her boyfriend and my 11 year old. I ordered them each their own copy so that they could highlight and look back at it over the years.
This is not a book that I would have likely picked up off of a shelf on my own, as more than one person has pointed out to me when I’ve mentioned the book…I’m not a farmer. You don’t need to be. This is why I enter all of the giveaways, I have read many random books that I likely wouldn’t have chosen had I not won a copy.

A book to find motivation from the farmers community in America.
“The Farmer’s Code" is a book to motivate you to change your life and the lives of those close to you by 180 degrees.
If you are looking for growth in yourself and essentially in your family and community, this book is the perfect tool. I was really hooked that although it is a book of self-improvement and personal growth, its tone alluding to the farmers of America was perfect for me. There is nothing I enjoy more than a book that invites me to personal growth by showing me the real experience of other people.
The book is so complete that it presents theory, practice and real-life examples that it allows you to find functionality and purpose in the reading. It is an open invitation to change and therefore it is clear, with guiding content and with a simple to understand and digestible writing for all audiences. I recommend you to read this book if you want to live changes in your life.

The Farmer’s Code is ostensibly about a family in America with a long history of making their living through agriculture. However, it is much more than that.
The book is full of lessons about how to improve oneself. If you can be successful at that, then you can start to show others in your family and elsewhere throughout your life how to better themselves as well. You can teach them the values of honesty and integrity that have served you so well, not just when it comes to farming, but also as it relates to all other aspects or facets of one’s life.
This is an uplifting book, and one with a great deal of knowledge to impart. At a time when some people seem to have lost their way and to be searching for a sense of identity, this narrative provides actionable directions as to how one might do that.
The book is full of lessons about how to improve oneself. If you can be successful at that, then you can start to show others in your family and elsewhere throughout your life how to better themselves as well. In my opinion, this is a book that everyone needs to read, it is as if your grandfather is telling you his adventures and stories that no matter how crazy they are, they will always have some wisdom and truth.
The plot of the book is about farming and how it transcends from generation to generation with its problems and new situations. Each chapter is a piece of advice passed down and told about resilience to new adversities and how they have slowly adapted.
It made me reflect a lot on the accelerated way we live our day, it showed me how it is to live life at their pace, to enjoy the simple things and to honor our traditions.
I highly recommend this book, you don't necessarily have to be related to the agricultural world; it is simply a book that goes down well with anyone who reads it.

I was torn between 5 stars and 4. I loved the positivity and the intention for the book, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. My only real criticism is that I got tired of the amounts of references/quotes to other books, tv shows, ect. Especially when multiple times it seems very clear the author thinks negative about phones, media and buzz words. I can appreciate the honesty in the beginning when Mike said he's not a writer, but I would've loved to see a little more originality. The family stories were awesome, but then almost every page has a quote or reference. The king Sisyphus myth got mentioned more than once, both times it felt like I was being reintroduced and re explained to the same concept I understand the 1st time. All in all, this was a great, uplifting book that I won in a giveaway

The Farmer’s Code by Mike C. Young is a nice and full history book that has captivated me. Along the pages, I got to know the story of an American family and their long journey of making their living through agriculture. However, this book is about so much more than that. As I got deeper and deeper in the narrative, I discovered a profound exploration into the essence of this family and the legacy and wisdom cultivated through generations. It is full of lessons on how to improve personally and professionally. I loved the fact that the author used vivid storytelling and heartfelt anecdotes to tell the story; in my opinion, it gives the narration a plus. The language is friendly and gentle. I enjoyed this book very much. I will recommend it for sure.

I am not usually a non-fiction or "self-help" book reader, but in my 9 to 5 job I work with farmers and ranchers and I am also a 5th-generation farmer/rancher, so this scratched an itch I didn't know I had.
I was lucky enough to be sent a digital version of this book by the author and publisher from a Goodreads giveaway. However, halfway through the digital copy, I bought a physical copy as well to lend out to my family.
I enjoyed this very much. The flow was easy to follow and it was great to hear the stories from Mr. Young's family. I felt like I knew the author after finishing it.
I gave this book 4.5 stars for a few personal reasons, but I highly recommend it to anyone wanting some guidance about self-reflection, familial love, and communication.

Mike Young writes this book with a clear head, highlighting the importance of Legacy. Not necessarily monetary, more like a map for the new generations, a path to find what you're looking for, knowing where you started and what you want to accomplish, which for myself is one of the core doubts I have about my own life.
Living an impactful life is a goal that many of us aspire, but not everyone achieves, so I think this book is fundamental to get in the right lane. I hope people desire to be great. Some do not know how to find this greatness. The Farmers Code written by Mike Young is a good book. A simple title to a chapter drew me into the book. Knowing your identity is a title that many can relate to because people are looking for who they are and want to know. Though I am not a farmer, many people can relate to the idea of planting seeds. We need to plant seeds in ourselves which will grow. Young had great ideas when he wrote this book. I believe that many can relate to this book. It is well written and simple. I know that if you read this book you will learn something, possibly new.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. Listening to Grandma's words of wisdom throughout the book was my absolute favorite. I love the way it was written as if casually talking about life rather than most books that feel like lectures and to-do lists. I am glad I had the pleasure of reading this.
