This book was fantastic ... I had difficulty putting it down from start to finish. Yes, I saw the movie and it was also very good. Being a retired law enforcement officer I found the book to be accurate and very interesting.
Pistones journey was remarkable considering this investigation was in the early days of undercover investigations.
Pistone was able to maintain honesty and integrity throughout the investigation despite dealing with major organized crime figures thriving on major thefts, assaults, lies, murders, drug trafficking extortion etc.
Pistone was able to lie to mobsters for six years collecting evidence for the FBI bringing this undercover investigation to a successful conclusion.
Yes I feel bad for Pistones family who was essentially abandoned during the lengthy investigation.
