Hideaway Harbor #2

Accidentally Famous

Rate this book
Jack Winston may be Hollywood's biggest action hero, but he's seriously burned out. He can't even save himself from his PR team's latest dating a starlet. But when his assistant accidentally tags Cassidy James from Blink, Maine, (wherever that is) on social media, the paparazzi decide that she's Jack's latest fling. Now Jack needs to do some serious damage control . . . starting with the adorable home reno pro in paint-splattered overalls. Cassidy is not prepared when the Jack Winston shows up in her quiet little town--and whew, he is that gorgeous in person. Before she can pick her jaw up off the floor, his PR team is bombarding them with a whole new plan involving "fake girlfriend," "optics," and "sign this NDA" (whatever that is). But no one warned her that Mr. A-List Action Star is hot, funny as all get out, and loves old houses as much as she does. Now they have two weeks to convince everyone they're in a fake relationship--two weeks that will drive Cassidy's reno business through the roof and help Jack reclaim his "spark." The plan is going fine, dare she say, perfectly . . . until she discovers something that will change everything. Contains mature themes.

I actually liked this more than the first book, although in accidentally famous we deal with a pretty woman theme, where a famous man falls in love with a woman who could have been in us. Despite the plot being out there I was invested in their love story and really enjoyed myself while reading it. The last chapters were a bit annoying, but other than that this was a lovely read.

Jack Winston is a world famous actor waiting for his next picture to start filming. When his assistant accidentally tags the wrong person in an instagram post the paparazzi descends on the small town of Blink, Maine. Cassidy James remodels homes and especially loves an historic one she is currently where she is currently working. She doesn’t understand why the subscribers for her small YouTube channel has inexplicable gone through the roof. Jack shows up with his PR team who has the idea to have them fake date for a two weeks. The plan would benefit both their careers.

Jack is quickly smitten with Cassidy and the whole Blink community. He even helps on the house restoration under Cassidy’s watchful eye. This is cute, low angst, fake dating, contemporary romance. Jack especially is a cinnamon roll of a guy. He is charming and sweet and has no Hollywood swagger. I wish there was more spice than a couple of kisses. I don’t need books to be explicit but I want more than a kiss on a deck or in a truck for the paparazzi to catch.

This can be read as a stand alone. I was half way through the book before realizing I’ve read Accidentally Perfect which is the first book in this Hideaway Harbor series. The MC’s make appearances in this book and is seemingly a couple of years later. Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publising for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Tropes:
1) small town romance
2) celeb x regular mc
3) fake-dating
4) forced proximity

This was honestly such a comforting, feel-good read. The whole fake-dating ruse worked for me and the blossoming romance between our main characters was paced nicely. Everything I look for in a romance book, Accidentally Famous checked it off.

So the whole charade begins when Jack's PA accidentally tags Cassidy's (inactive) instagram handle when she meant to tag his sister's account with an inside joke from his movie with the caption "I'm coming for you, babe."

Things take a turn for Cassidy when her YouTube subscriber numbers suddenly go up. By the time the post is taken down, the damage has already been done. His fans scour for any information regarding his "affair" with a seemingly regular person, and the paparazzi is already in the little town of Blink where Cassidy lives. Jack's manager decides this is the perfect time for Jack to have a PR relationship to repair his previously damaged rep(it took two years for him to recover from a really hard hit his career took) and Cassidy was the perfect candidate for it. After a bit of convincing on her part, Jack and Cassidy hit it off. We can already tell they have really good chemistry and thus lines have started to blur.

There is a little fiasco with Cassidy's ex-crush Tristan but nothing too dramatic that deviated from our main characters' story. Althought I'm not a huge fan of the third act conflict/break-up in any romance book, I will make an exception for this book because a third party caused it and it wasn't something distasteful or out-of-character the mcs did.

Overall, I enjoyed it, the writing was brilliant, the characters were all likable, and it really stayed true to what a contemporary romance constitutes.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a sweet little small-town celebrity romance and it was a quick, enjoyable read. It’s the second in a series but absolutely works as a standalone; I didn’t ever feel like I was missing out on anything. I think it’s a great premise (I love the idea of a social media mix-up!), well-written, and there were lots of cute moments. I also really liked all the side characters that inhabited the town of Blink – they were all very endearing and I could imagine the whole setting perfectly.

Unfortunately it didn’t go much beyond “just ok” for me; I didn’t find that there was much substance to really dig into. Cassidy and Jack like each other right away, get along well, and are honestly kind of boring. There was no tension or chemistry and the romance was suuuuper clean. Very little happens in general and there are no obstacles until the last 30 pages of the book. I also found the conflict very cliché and frustrating.

I don’t often gravitate towards small town romances, and maybe this is why. Maybe they’re just too sweet and chill for my angst and drama loving self. 😂

BUT if you’re looking for a lighthearted closed-door romance with small town vibes that’s sweet and won’t make your blood pressure rise, you might want to check this one out.

Thank you so much to @tlcbooktours and @entangled_publishing for the gifted copy and including me on this tour!

An entertaining, light read. My favorite part of the story is when our movie star Jack is trying to get Cassidy to relax, and he uses the worst pick-up lines. Can an A-Lister fall for the one who gets tagged by mistake? This is just the beginning of the drama and paparazzi when Hollywood invades Blink, Maine.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

The blurb for this title sounded great and I was really looking to reading it.

Unfortunately all the fun of this one was in the blurb.

I gave up at 19% because I was...bored. I just didn't care about the characters or what happened next.

I'm unable to recommend this title.

Loved this book! The town of Blink is awesome and a quirky place I'd like to visit. When an actor accidentally tags Cassidy and intersection the paparazzi in her life, he wants to fix it, however, his vision isn't the same as Cassidy's way of fixing it.

I loved the characters and was charmed by their story. If you want a book to put a smile on your face, this is it. Put this at the top of your TBR list. The author is on my must read authors' list.

This is a cute fake dating romance. A Hollywood heartthrob named Jack needs to get away, so he goes to a house in a remote town in Maine that belongs to one of his friends. His P/R team is setting up a fake dating scheme with a Hollywood starlet.
Unfortunately, instead of tagging the Cassidy James the starlet, his assistant tags a different Cassidy James, a woman with who lives a quiet life in Maine.
Jack needs to convince her to fake date him for two weeks. After they spend time together, they find themselves dating for real.

I liked this charming easy to read book, 4 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.

Cassidy learned how to renovate houses from the best… Her dad and at the moment she’s renovating an old Victorian she calls Dolores. Cassidy enjoys her life and her friends and that includes her five fellow renovators and followers on YouTube. On the other side of the country actor Jack Winters and his personal assistant or overworked his talent agent Marion is a tyrant. He stopped living on the edge over two years ago and that’s how long it’s been since he’s had a break and his assistant D isn’t feeling much better. Marion makes her so nervous she accidentally tagged the wrong person in one of his movie post and this is how Cassidy‘s YouTube followers go from five to thousands in a matter of minutes. It was bad enough that Marian wanted Jack to start fake dating a fellow actress and even gave him a list of people to choose from most of whom he didn’t even know good now she wants him to fly to this little town and try to make a miracle out of this mistake. When they finally flying to Cassidy‘s little town they come in like gangbusters Marian wants a DNA signed and she wants Cassidy to learn these lines and pretend to be Jack’s girlfriend and at first it’s all a little overwhelming Cassidy however has her own reasons for agreeing to do it. The last thing she thought was that she would be falling for this pretty boy Jack winters and especially when she sees he’s just a normal funny guy who also loves old houses. When Marion sees it’s becoming something way more than just a fake relationship she has to put her two cents in and explain to Cassidy how she would only be ruining his life and Jack doesn’t really know what he wants but Mariann knows it’s not Cassidy. This is why Cassidy sends Jack away is she will not hear anything else about it she doesn’t want to discuss it she just wants him to go away and leave her alone and wants her life to go back to the way it was. The only problem with Cassidy‘s playing is that it’s been days and it seems to only be getting worse and everyone sees it but her. Did she make the biggest mistake of her life? Is she doomed to only live with the memory of Jack in the front they had a real lol bring them together again? It is books like this that’s really making me a romance fan . Are used to be the type of person that would say I would never read a romance that’s so sappy but OMG they oh so swoon worthy in the ending is always the best part. In this book accidentally famous is among some of the best Marissa Clark has a great talent for filling the pages that make you want to turn the page even before you’re finished with the previous one I really enjoy the journey die taking her books and I cannot wait for the next one. I love this book and highly recommend it. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Firstly I am grateful to Entangled: Amara and NetGalley for my complimentary copy and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I had no idea who Marissa Clarke was going in but after I was done reading I wanted to send her a friend request, an email, and possibly wish upon a star that Michael B Jordan would also accidentally tag me *laugh out loud*. Accidentally Famous is perfect for fans who love a small town romance and fake dating which is pretty much me. This is a feel-good read that you will devour in a day because it’s that yummy. The book follows Jake a famous person (he is an action hero) and Cassidy James from a small town in Maine that does home remodeling. Their lives get turned upside down when Jack’s assistant accidentally tags Cassidy’s Instagram handle when she meant to tag his sister’s account with an inside joke from his movie with the caption “I’m coming for you, babe.”. This leads to the paparazzi losing it and of course her YouTube subscriber numbers going up. Jack’s manager has this crazy idea that they should ‘ fake date’ for two weeks because it’s PR but matters of the heart can’t be faked. It’s hard not to fall in love with Jack because he is swoon worthy and not corky *wink*. Absolutely recommend it if you are looking for a feel-good book.

This was really cute and very sweet. It is technically book 2 in the Hideaway Harbor series, but can be read as a standalone. The book 1 characters are very much involved though so it made me wish I had read the other book first.

I’m the type of person who ignores character descriptions because I can never remember then anyway, so I have no idea if this is accurate, but Jack was giving off major Chris Evans/Captain America vibes. He is written to have had an unsavory past, but was the most kind and genuine guy. I also loved how independent and sure of herself Cassidy was. She is in the remodel/construction business and, as a woman, you can imagine she doesn’t always get taken seriously. We see instances of sexism, but she shuts those right down!

My only issue was that the chemistry was a tad lacking for me. I loved Jack and Cassidy together, but overall I think their relationship could have had some more oomph.

A fun read to start the new year! Accidentally Famous follows actor Jack Winston when he ends up in Blink, Maine to rectify a mistake. Cassidy James is perfectly fine with her steady life where she restores old Victorian homes. What started as a simple mistake turns into much more as Jack and Cassidy must confront what they want in life. With many appearances from the first book’s characters and a slew of new Hollywood additions makes a charming story, making you want more of Blink, Maine.

Side note- I really want Tristen to get his own story. I feel it in my bones that his character has depth that MUST be explored. I felt it in the first book, and now I am begging for it after the second! So many of my notes while reading surrounded his character, and the part where he “looks like the only kid who didn’t get invited to a birthday party” broke my heart. Please PLEASE give him a story!!!

Cassidy is content with the life she has built from her business renovating houses and her hometown where she is surrounded by friends and family. Life as she knows it is turned upside down when she creates a social media frenzy when a mistake has everyone believing she is dating an actor. Now she and her town have been infiltrated by Jack and his entourage.

Jack is feeling the wrath of his demanding agent as rather than everyone believing that he is dating a fellow celebrity they believe he is dating Cassidy who could best be described as the girl next door. The only problem is that there is nothing pretend for their feelings for each other and not everyone is happy they are together.

These two were so much fun together and despite their very different lifestyles couldn’t be a better match. Not only do Jack and Cassidy draw you in and have you invested in their relationship, but the secondary characters only make this story that much better.

... personally, I liked Cassidy's attitude! While some would be falling all over themselves, she was more "you're screwing up my life and I don't have to like it" 🤣 ... and the first strike of genius was when she valiantly said no to the "megaladon". Trust me, you'll get it when you read it. 😉

...fake relationship? ✔️
... small town versus big city? ✔️
... unexpected sparkage? ✔️

A great way to spend a blustery day or wile away the weekend!

I enjoyed most of this book. I loved the fake dating trope and the premise of the story.

I really like Cassidy and Jack and I liked seeing their relationship develope throughout the book. I feel the book could've been longer and I wish there was more showing their romance. The pacing of their relationship felt a little off to me

I feel the ending of the book could use some work. It ended really awkwardly in my opinion and moved too fast. At the end, I wish Jack hadn't texted Cassidy about what happened. I would have liked to read about their reunion and Cass being shocked that he was back.

I really enjoyed this book, it just gave me such a great happy feeling while I was reading it.

In this we meet Cassidy, she is a home renovator currently renovating a historic home in her home town of blink. One day no one knows her and the next everybody wants to take her picture!! How did that happen?

Next up we have Jack, he is a well known movie star that everyone loves. Thanks to a typo both of their worlds collide and life changes as they know it.

I loved Cassidy and Jack, they were both such lovely fun people who lived their lives fully doing what they loved. Who knew their lives were about to change, but change in a way that would make them even happier. They had such a great connection even though they only just met.

I adored the setting, it just seemed like such a beautiful town to live in and a town filled with lovely people.

Great easy fun read ❤️

There is no sex in this book.
Now, let’s get to the review.

Small town and fake dating all the ingredients for a good story.
Jack is actor. Cassidy is a contractor & YouTuber. She accidentally gets tagged in one of his IG posts and the firestorm begins.
Her subscribers on her YouTube channel are going up by the thousands and she has know idea why because she doesn’t use IG. But his fans in these “innanet” streets wasted no time finding her.
Jacks team decides they can use this to his advantage especially since his manger wanted him to find another Hollywood A lister to be seen with. This small town vibe must just work . Enter the fake dating with a NDA included.
The story was lacking character development especially for Cassidy. I wish we could have seen more about who she is and what she looks like. There was no real romance or chemistry. There was one staged kiss then the next real kiss was at about 85%
You can’t even call it a slow burn because I couldn’t feel the chemistry. The story was good but the romance wasn't there. I recommend this book if you like a small town romance. It has all the small town vibes.

I feel I'm on some celebrity x normal person binge.

Tropes in this book -- mix-up love, somewhat insta-love, small-town romance.

You have Jack Winston whose assistant accidentally tags Cassidy in an instagram post that ends up turning her life upside down. Instead of saying that it was all a misunderstanding his PR team has him fly all the way to her quiet little town with plans of a fake relationship.

There is miscommunication, someone being driven away, and it all comes into this cute small town, celebrity big shot romance.

Well my fave trope has done me dirty. The problem when you read any celeb romance with zero vetting is that sometimes you don’t even get the satisfaction of ONE moment of intimacy beyond some chaste kissing. WAAAAAAH, what a waste of time.

This book had a lot of characters and I cared about none of them mainly because they were all poorly developed caricatures- plucky small town female construction worker, recovered bad boy actor, overbearing manager, nervous assistant, blue collar townies with hearts of gold. Everyone seemed to have dead parents or spouses in this small town in Maine where apparently the death rate is 85%.

The jist of the story is there’s a former bad boy actor (we never find out any of the bad things he used to do). Actor has a Putin-esque manager who walks all over him even tho he pays her salary. After his assistant accidentally tags a rando home renovator from Maine (Cassidy) in one of his IG posts, Putin decides it would be a great plan for Actor and Lady Jesus the Carpenter to fake date. So they all descend on her tiny Maine town and she agrees to the plan. Then the paparazzi chase them around and Cassidy works like 2 hours a day at her job and it’s all ludicrous. Of course Actor falls in love with said town and said lady and maybe they partake in sexy times but I wouldn’t know bc the door was slammed in my face and I will never forgive this book for wasting my time. Even the end of the book breakup and subsequent reuniting was puzzling and boring and I think both of these characters are on sedatives.

I’m sorry to say this wasn’t my cup of tea. It had potential but never really found its footing for me. I needed more character and plot development- It was all very surface level. And I needed more thrusting.

I really enjoyed this book! This book has little to no spice in it so if you have to have spice maybe skip this one. Tropes are; fake dating, small town romance, celebrity/small town girl, slight miscommunication.

This was such a feel good book. We have a strong FMC whose job is a handyman/house restoration. She has the support of her small town behind her.

What I loved about this was our celebrity was not obnoxious in any way, shape, or form. He oozed respectful confidence consistently throughout the entire book. It was refreshing

Let's be honest: As much as we fantasize about being Chris Evans' significant other, how many of us are truly prepared and willing to deal with the obligations and hardships that role comes with?

That is the central question in Marissa Clarke's second installment of her Hideaway Harbor series.

Cassidy James loves her small-town life. A renovation specialist who dabbles a bit in the DIY end of YouTube, she enjoys her handiwork and the anonymity. That is until a mistake links her to Hollywood superhero Jack Winston.

No biggie, right? Surely, THE Jack Winston has people who can clarify this with the media and sweep it under the rug. Or so Cassidy thinks until the gorgeous star walks into her quiet little town with his entourage and paparazzi and asks her to be his fake girlfriend. Apparently, Mr. Winston is in a celebrity slump, and he and his team are hoping that this could be the spark he needs to resuscitate his excitement in what he does.

As with any fake dating trope, the more they spend together, the more they realize they connect. But will their two-week deadline be the end of their ruse and connection, or would they want something more knowing that they live in two different worlds?

I thought this was a cute read. As a casual HGTV watcher, I enjoyed the details infused to describe Cassidy's work. And Jack -- Jack is what we hope our celebrity crush would be: gorgeous, charming, and down-to-earth. He likes doing his job but is grounded enough to want other parts of life, such as family and love. Their chemistry is instant, and I enjoyed every bit of it. The lack of spice did leave me wanting more. After all, this is the perfect opportunity to put ourselves in Cassidy's shoes, so a little sexy times would have been *perfect* for our celebrity romance fantasies.

There is a little bit of a love triangle involved with the son of Cassidy's neighbor. While I appreciate the drama this brings to the story, tiny hints about Tristan the neighbor's son just leave him looking so lacking compared to the thoughtful and charismatic Jack.

This is the second book in the series, but it holds up as a standalone read. Characters from Book 1 do make an appearance, but Marissa Clarke does a great job of providing context to this book universe's newcomers.

** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Marissa Clarke, Entangled Publishing, and NetGalley for providing an ARC. **

You can read all of my reviews at Nerd Girl Loves Books.

This is such a cute, fluffy romcom I fell in love with it instantly. Cassidy owns a construction company and loves to rehab and restore vintage homes. She has social media accounts where she shares videos of her projects with a handful of fellow restorers who help each other out. Jack is a big time Hollywood star. His assistant sends out a goofy message that's an inside joke with his sister, but tags Cassidy instead of Jack's sister. Instantly Cassidy's social media accounts blow up and before long, the tabloids are on the story and paparazzi are stalking Cassidy in her tiny town in Maine. Determined to make things right, Jack travels to Maine to apologize, but only causes more of a media firestorm. Sensing a win-win scenario, his manager concocts a fake dating scheme that will keep Jack's career on track and boost Cassidy's business. What could possibly go wrong?

The main characters, Jack and Cassidy, are so likeable and well developed that you can't help but root for them. The best friend sidekicks are a hoot, and even Jack's PR and management team add depth and levity to the story. I love how independent and capable Cassidy is, taking the reigns of her father's construction business and kicking butt. Despite her youth, her ability to stand her ground when things are important to her is admirable.

Despite Jack's Hollywood success, he tries to keep his midwestern roots, especially after his career imploded a couple years ago with his drug and alcohol problems. He's got a fierce manager on his side who is determined to keep his career on track - even when he would rather give up. Jack is restless, but doesn't know why. Meeting Cassidy and seeing she and her friends interact is good for Jack. It makes him understand what is missing - a real, rather than a Hollywood, relationship. It was charming to see both characters get shy and awkward with each other, despite both of them having prior dating histories.

The way the tagging mishap occurred seemed pretty realistic. I mean, who hasn't accidentally tagged the wrong person in a social media post? Fortunately for most of us, it just hasn't blown up our life or the person we accidentally tagged. This book has humor, heart, and swoon-worthy leads. The book is a quick and easy read that will put a smile on your face. If you need a bit of an escape, I highly recommend you pick this one up.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC. All opinions are my own.

Super sweet with some funny tones, this was such an adorable story. My favorite trope is Hollywood stars so I was in book heaven! I love these stories especially when they involve the Hollywood actor with a normal woman, and this was the case.

Cassidy James had always had a crush on Tristan McGuffy but he never noticed her. He went away to study medicine and installed his medical office in Portland. Cassidy kept an image of them, to justify her non-existent social life and be able to just enjoy time with her circle of friends. She lives in a little town called Blink, she loves it and never plans to leave. At the moment she’s restoring an old mansion belonging to Tristan’s father and is loving the work. She makes YouTube videos of her restoration work to share with like-minded friends and suddenly notices that her followers increased exponentially. Then her friends check on her social media and learn that Hollywood A-lister Jack Winston tagged her in a post with a famous phrase from his movie: “I’m coming for you, babe!”

Suddenly she’s besieged with paparazzi and is confounded until Jack Winston arrives suddenly to make amends. They start to share her restoration videos and slowly develop a friendship. Jack was feeling dissatisfied with his life, and staying in such a little town where the natives don’t harass him feels refreshing. His manager wants to use the opportunity to increase his popularity so he and Cassidy join forces and pretend a fake relationship. And the rest is history!

I loved that the love story is clean, as in no sex scenes, just a lot of chemistry, kissing, and liking. You can tell how their liking develops and changes to love. I loved that all the attention is given to their interactions and how Cassidy’s circle of friends and Jack’s employees interact with each other and forge friendships. There’s many levels to this story, especially with Mr. McGuffy, Tristan’s father and owner of Dolores, the house that Cassidy is restoring. Cassidy is lovely, she’s beautiful but has no affectations and feels more comfortable in coveralls and chucks. Jack was a great character and he handled both his manager, his bodyguard and his assistant with grace and a lot of consideration. He was so nice to Cassidy and her friends, no cocky attitude, just sincerity and contrition. But for me, the one who shone was Cassidy in all her emotions and loyalty to what she feels is important. Great read!

ACCIDENTALLY FAMOUS is a cute and sweet contemporary romance. Jack Winston has turned his life around and has settled into the actor routine. His manager thinks he needs a fake relationship to present to the press, but he isn't so sure. Then, his assistant accidentally tags a small-town contractor's high school instagram account, and his manager latches onto the idea of making this his short-term fake relationship.

Jack is intrigued when he checks her out, especially the youtube videos she has recorded restoring an old house just like one he always dreamed of owning. However, when they arrive, Cassidy is uninterested in a fake relationship or any relationship and just wants to fade back into obscurity. Cassidy is a contractor in the small-town of Blink and loves what she does, particularly the old house she is working on. When paparazzi show up in town and her youtube followers spike, Cassidy just wants things to quiet back to normal. At first, she is not at all willing to consider this fake relationship he is proposing, but when spending time with him, she finds herself intrigued enough to go along with it temporarily.

As they get to know each other, their connection grows - but they are from such different worlds that they are unsure it can last.

This was a really charming romance, and I loved the premise. It ended up being low steam, but their connection was clear from the start, and it was great to see the way they got to know each other and connect. It takes a while to get moving in the story, but once they meet, the fake dating was really sweet. Cassidy has a really great connection to the small-town and her love of old houses. I loved that she was a contractor/doing the restoration herself, and the story pays attention to the ways she is received as a female in a male-dominated field.

Blink is such a cute town, and I also appreciated the connections with the previous book set in this town, getting a glimpse into where those characters are now as well. This will work well for people who love small-town, fake dating, and movie star tropes, as these are all lovely. The only thing I would change is to add more steam, but this is personal preference.

ACCIDENTALLY FAMOUS is a charming contemporary romance featuring a sweet couple with plenty of chemistry and small-town charm. Please note that I received an eARC. All opinions are my own.

This was a cute mix-up romance filled with adorable moments. When Jack's assistant accidentally tags a random stranger instead of his sister with a cheesy one liner, the press goes nuts. The track down Cassidy in her small town and hound her about her secret relationship with the movie star. As if that wasn't bad enough, Jack and his team decide to pay a visit to Blink, Maine in order to not only talk to Cassidy about what's going on, but to hopefully work the mistake in their favor... by continuing the charade that they are a couple. I mean, what could go wrong?

I really liked the small town girl and the big movie star angle. It wasn't a by chance encounter on the street. It really was a PR mistake that started the whole mess. Then when Jack found out what had happened, he got curious as to who his assistant has actually tagged, and then found her life intriguing. It's not every day you come across a woman who has a youtube channel showing you how to renovate an old historical house. As for Cassidy, she's not at all impressed with Jack. His team caused a chaotic mess in her hometown and it has stressed her out beyond belief. However, when she's posed with the option to keep the charade going in order to boost her business and put Jack in a positive spotlight. Two weeks should be easy but things get a little complicated when feelings get caught.

Another thing that I liked about this story was the mini side stories taking place. It gave the book a more well-rounded feel. I also liked that even though this is the second book in the series, I never once felt like it was part of a series, or that I was missing something. Everything is nicely laid out in this story for any new readers, and I really appreciated it.

Now one thing that I did have a problem with was the cliche conflict that takes place in the book. I saw it a mile away, since it's overdone, and I was very disappointed in Cassidy for falling for it and playing along. It's one of those, if you talked it out like adults, none of it would have happened.

If you're in the market for a cute romance involving a movie star and a small town girl, then give this one a read. It has a good mix of characters to keep you entertained throughout the story.

📖 ARC REVIEW 📖

Thank you @entangled_publishing for an early copy of Accidentally Famous by Marissa Clarke. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. 🤍

Accidentally Famous is a fake dating romance novel about Cassidy, a renovation business owner from Blink, Maine, who accidentally gets tagged on an Instagram photo by Jack’s assistant. Jack is Hollywood’s biggest action actor, and while he meant for his sister to be tagged on his latest Instagram photo, well, that didn’t happen and all hell goes loose on Cassidy as she was being hounded by paparazzi as Jack’s new beau. Jack and his team fly to Blink, and his PR and legal team asks her to sign an NDA and proposes they engage in a “fake dating” scheme, Jack gets to reclaim his Hollywood spotlight and Cassidy gets publicity for her business. But what happens when they get to know each other and discover that they are what each other is looking for?

I read this in one sitting – no, that may be an understatement. I didn’t even take a break while reading this novel. It’s not so often that a book would retain my attention so early into the book, but this one did, it hooked me right from the very first chapter. While fake dating, celebrity, and regular MCs are not new concepts to romantic novels, this one just takes the cake. The story progression was fast-paced, and the main characters were very likable, even the “antagonist” (aka Marion, the one who handles Jack’s career). While there’s not much character development involved, what I really loved about Jack and Cassidy’s relationship was how their attraction grew with every moment they were together. They had a deal to fake their relationship, but from the onset, their attraction was too strong there was no pretending involved for the paparazzi to capture. It was an absolute delight to read and feel their chemistry blossom into something more as they got to know each other deeply.

Rating Accidentally Famous ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5. Releases January 24, 2023.
