D'Arco Mafia Duet #2

Liar Liar - Part two: D'Arco Mafia Duet

Rate this book
They didn’t come for me.

I wanted Killian to be the one to take my life, but five months later, nothing.

I’m still alive.

They promised they would follow me to the ends of the earth if I left.

They lied.

Now, I have no choice but to go back and clear my name.

I plan to walk in with my head held high and give them evidence that will force them into hearing me out. After all, Enzo gave me his word he would find my sister, and I want her back, no matter what the cost.

Killian and Sarge might be happy to see me back, but Enzo hasn’t forgiven me for taking his mother’s life, even if it was an accident, and she was the one behind hurting my sister.

Enzo can bite me. I’m back, and I know he won’t let me leave, so I will be taking my rightful place as his wife.

Being back is not as easy as I expect when someone is working against us, long lost family resurfaces, mystery calls from someone who is supposed to be dead, and photographs of my best friend covered in blood. Whoever is behind this should have stayed hidden.

Friends become enemies and enemies become allies; the tables have turned, and we all have to do what needs to be done to keep our family safe.

This book completes the duet.

My rating: ★★★★★

I extend my heartfelt thanks to Books & Bitches and Jaye Pratt for the opportunity to dive into the gripping pages of "Liar Liar Part 2." With a resounding ★★★★★ rating, this independently published gem by Jaye Pratt, released on October 14th, 2023, delivers a thrilling conclusion to a duet that has left me captivated and yearning for more.

The story picks up with an air of suspense as the protagonist, grappling with the aftermath of betrayals and lies, finds herself alive against all odds. The promise of retribution and justice drives her back into a world she tried to leave behind, seeking to clear her name and reclaim her sister. The narrative unfolds with unexpected twists, revealing a complex web of relationships, long-lost family, and a relentless pursuit of the truth.

Jaye Pratt masterfully weaves a tale of redemption, vengeance, and familial bonds in "Liar Liar Part 2." The characters, including the enigmatic Killian, the steadfast Sarge, and the conflicted Enzo, come to life with depth and complexity. The author expertly navigates the shifting dynamics, blurring the lines between friends and enemies, leaving readers on the edge of their seats.

The conclusion of this duet is a rollercoaster of emotions, with each page unraveling new mysteries and unveiling shocking revelations. Pratt's writing is fast-paced, intense, and emotionally charged, keeping readers hooked from the first page to the last. The resolution of the storyline is both satisfying and thought-provoking, leaving room for contemplation even after the final chapter.

As a reader, I find myself deeply attached to this storyline, and the characters have left an indelible mark on my literary experience. "Liar Liar Part 2" stands out as my favorite duology so far, a testament to Jaye Pratt's storytelling prowess. The hope for more books in this series lingers, as the world she has crafted is one I'm not ready to part with just yet.

In conclusion, "Liar Liar Part 2" is a masterful conclusion to a captivating duet, showcasing Jaye Pratt's talent for crafting intense and emotionally charged narratives. I eagerly await the possibility of more books in this series, reluctant to let go of a story that has truly captivated my imagination.

This book has a great prologue that gives us more details about certain plot points from the first book, and then chapter one starts right where it had ended with that major cliffhanger. I appreciated the fact that the story was kept real with all of their reactions to Jordyn coming back and the news about everything. It was something they all had to talk about and work through.

I loved that Jordyn knew when to put her foot down and demand to be heard and when to just let it go. She really became the Mafia Queen they needed. The guys were fantastic, and I was happy with Sarge and Enzo’s relationship. I was both surprised and thrilled with the twists about Killian, his backstory, and his family. Jordyn, Enzo, Sarge, and Killian all became a great family unit in this book and worked really well together. The banter between them is so amusing! Pixie is the epitome of teenage fury and one minute, you’ll be laughing at her antics, and the next, you’ll want to strangle her. Definitely makes me not miss the teenage years lol

I absolutely loved all the domesticated moments and all the small things that showed the love and care between these characters. There were crazy plot twists, tons of action both in the bedroom and out of it, and a perfect ending! I really loved this duet and look forward to reading Harper’s duet!

I’ll be honest about the fact that I’m not a fan of the why choose, reverse harem, sharing trope. Normally I’ll stay away from it because it’s too much smut with too much of everything and I just think it’s nasty. However, in this book it isn’t bothering as much as it would normally do. I get the attraction and even the sharing and seeing your friends happy because of it.
The first part of this duet was a whirlwind of emotions, actions, threats, anticipation, different kinds of moments that left me wondering and an ending that got me grabbing my hair and left my mouth agape.
It’s a good duet with enough action, anticipation, betrayal, darkish parts, sharing, smut, fear, fierceness, loyalty, love, mafia elements and a lot of side characters.
It’s just that halfway through the second book it feels like it was gonna take forever to get to the point. There was so much going on, so much to take into consideration. It felt like the bad stuff just kept going and going. It took forever.
That’s the only downside that bothered me. Besides all of that it’s a good story with enough to keep you hooked but you need patience.
I loved Killian and Sarge, but the whole Pixie thing still is a big question mark for me. I’m just not sure if I liked it all or not.

The second part in the "Liar Liar" duet is a fascinating conclusion to Jordyn's story, where the relationships develop further and multiple twists occasionally turn the storyline upside down. In this second book the MM relationship between Enzo and Sarge plays a big part, but all of them also have to find a way to forgive each other for the hurt that was caused in the first book. It creates a deeper storyline on top of the action and suspense that's going on in the mafia world they're a part of.

Pixie, Jordyn's younger sister, also plays a big part in the second part in this duet and I'm quite curious to find out whether she will get her own story in the future. Her past definitely made her even more bloodthirsty than her sister, and something tells me the men in her life will have their hands full with her. The relationship between Jordyn and Enzo still seems to be a work in progress, even at the end of this duet, but maybe they just like the 'make up' part of fighting too much to fully give up on the frenemies-vibe...

I really liked this duet, and I'm excited to see more books in this world in the future, starting with Harper's story!

This is part two of the D’Arco Mafia duet. This book is action-packed and filled with steamy scenes, twists that lead to torture, and so much more. I didn’t want to put this book down because I needed to know what was going to happen with Jordyn and her guys.

I loved Jordyn but I did wish she made the guys especially Enzo grovel a little bit more. I absolutely love Sarge, Killian and Enzo are great too but there is just something about Sarge. Maybe it’s his softer side but I just can’t get enough of him. I loved the way that things ended for Jordyn and the guys. They really did find their HEA.

If you enjoy mafia books that include a little MM or want a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat you should grab this book right away. I loved Harper so I’m excited that she’s going to get her own duet. I hope we will get to see more of Pixie too because I think her story could be amazing!

This was hard to get through. It was super annoying hearing Enzo go on and on about how the FMC handled his mother- she was literally was the one who was involved with everything. She was one of the front runners who was running it and also played a massive role in his dad’s “death” and all he does is whine and bit*h. Honestly she did him a favor because he wouldn’t have been able to do it. I have to agree with another reviewer, the chemistry between Enzo and fmc is lacking there’s more between him and sarge and while I’m for some m/m it felt like there was more with them then her. Then pixie just sounded like such a belligerent kid. After going through all of it you’d think there’d be some bit of timidness but no. She’s loud, ungrateful, acted completely not impacted by her kidnapped state. It didn’t mesh.

I just didn’t feel the all consuming chemistry that I would’ve liked and the fmc inner monologue just sounded… childish? Idk book wasn’t for me

Not only is this the second part of Jordyn’s story but it’s also the conclusion to her and her men’s story.

In the beginning of part 2 we get the prologue that gives us more information after that cliffhanger from part 1. Then this one picks up right where part 1 ended.

This is a mafia series I absolutely loved. In the first book I was on the fence with Jordyn. I didn’t start out liking her but then I did in the end. Then in this book I went from liking her to loving her! She came out to prove she’s a queen and she does just that. She will definitely blow your minds. Enzo is still my favorite but Killian surprised me the most. He’s got something about him that I was pulled to and Serge he’s the softer dude out of the three that you love from the start.

Liar Liar has a lot going on. We get action….theres mystery….and spice. One of the top Mafia romances I have ever read!!

This was everything I needed

One of the best duets I've read in a while. Oh gosh I'm so glad we got the baby parts and the epilog. I love those guys and Jordyn and I love Harper ride and die bestie. And I even love charlette , Mario and I even liked how they redeemed Enzos brother Vincent.. I really wish Leo didn't do what he did. Cause even what he did or why he did it. I understood it. And like I understand Pike too. I wish he would of stuck around for Killan. He could learn to love again as did Sarge. He could of talked about and help him through it. But I guess every one grieves in their own ways. I love this author I've read many of her series already. This was top knotch you will love it of you like Mafia RH and MM which I love all those so sit down and start reading I finished both books in less then a day that's how good this was.

This picks up after the epic fallout of book one. Some betrayals just can't be forgiven and for a man like Enzo where family is everything, he is truly between a rock and a hard place when this picks back up. The development in all of the relationships, Jordyn coming into her own as a Mafia Queen and reuniting with Pixie as well as secrets from Killian's past being revealed all came together in this conclusion after a jam packed part one. If you enjoy mafia romances with betrayal, secrets, suspense and spice you will definitely love this!

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

Oh my goodness. This duet was everything and so much more. I just love why choose mafia books. This one did not disappoint me.
I just love how Jordyn is so strong and stands up for herself. She’s feisty and protects those she loves.
Sarge is always the protector in the group. It’s nice how Enzo and him have sorted out their feelings for each other and that the group is happy for them.
Killian is such a awesome person who loves Jordyn with everything in him. He kills for sport and having Jordyn accept every part of him is what controls the beast in him. I love them all. I hope to see them in future books. Can’t wait for Harper’s story. Love the mafia world. Definitely read this duet it’s awesome.

I cannot say it enough as to how great this book was and couldn’t put it down. This book has all the feels, anguish, betrayal, love, family and more. Jordyn is a woman with a mission to see herself reunited with her sister Pixie. She will stop at nothing even if it means running away. Being married to a D’Arco means business and there is no getting away from her husband Enzo. He wants his wife dead as she killed his mother. So many twists and turns with beyond sexy sexy times. I need a Killian in my life who will protect me and kill me if needed. And Sarge is a man after my own heart, ever the gentle giant but not to be misunderstood, he and kill in the blink of an eye. Finally Enzo is a true leader and believes is family above all else.

Liar, Liar part two is the 2nd and last book in this duet. Now Jordyn (FMC) is back with Enzo, Sarge & Killian but things are now strained between all of them except Killian, Who has his own way of looking and dealing with everything. Usually if it involves violence.

I loved the inclusion of Pixie - Jordyn's sister. She has no filter or fear of what she says and to who. Both sisters find themselves right in the middle of backstabbing people, betrayal, love, trust and family (whether related or not!). Mix into that plenty of steaminess, kinkiness and generally hotness with some MM included too.

One hell of read & I cant tell you how much I'm looking forward to getting my hands on Harper's book or books now.

HOT

This author always gives me men to drool over and save for the bank.

Enzo, Sarge and Killian, each bring and give something different to their relationship with Jordyn and in a group setting. However, reading the way they are with Jordyn together in a group dynamic, you will be panting and reaching for your bedside items. This book definitely picks up the heat, as well as the twists getting more and more twisty. The plot kept my mind focused, and yet the anticipation was everything. Loved watching them become a solid family unit and watching them all change towards the newest family members was lovely to see. I loved getting to see a different side to these mafia men. I can’t wait for Harper’s book!

Revenge is Sweet!
A good conclusion to this duet, there’s plenty of action and guessing as to who’s behind the betrayals 😣 you think you know and then there’s someone else thrown into the mix 🙈
Upon Jordyn’s return they have a lot to work through, some more than others but with the baby on the way they have to close ranks and present a United front quickly! Thank fully some never doubted our girl 🥰🥰
The twist with Killians family and as intriguing and what that meant for the plot line. I am glad that those who needed the justice were well served by the D’Arco family 😄

Jordyn and her men hits all the right spots! There is heart, suspense, action, little bit of crazy plenty of heat in this conclusion!

After everything they definitely had some things to work through it was like an endless stream with them but I feel like they've conquered a lot

I loved the Mafia side of it too, plenty to keep you invested and turning the pages as you fall more and more in love with this group!

Jaye never fails! Congrats on another great series!

I have been counting down the days to I got my hands on this book, I absolutely loved book one of the series - this book did not disappoint, it actually blew away all my expectations.
The steamy scenes in this book are honestly hot AF, numerous, extremely detailed. Include mm, mfm, mf, blood play and do much more.
The storyline was well thought out and written with such detail and emotion. At one point I was in tears, other parts I was laughing out loud, then I was on the edge of my chair in suspense - absolutely fantastic!
The blood, torture, enemies and new contacts.
Loved the Jordyn’s men and the blood thirstiness, and that ending - perfection

I don't remember the last time I dropped everything to read a story as quickly as I have with this past of the duet. Reading the finale (but hopefully not the last I hear about Jordyn, Enzo, Sarge, and Killian) was the highlight of my day. I loved all aspects of the story, and for the most part, all my questions were answered from part one. This past had so many unexpected twists in the story that really added to the whole experience. Jaye Pratt has outdone themselves!

Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

OMG!!! What a ride and a fantastic conclusion to this duet. I finished it in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. We jump straight back into the action where you lose yourself in the twists and turns this story takes. I absolutely loved that we get to learn more about Killian's past in this book and I enjoyed following the dynamics of Jordyn, Enzo, Sarge and Killian's relationship as it unfolds. Part two has you falling even more in love with these alpha males and their incredibly tough woman. I can't wait to read Harper's story next.

Perfect ending to this duet. I loved Jordyn so much. This book started right where book one finished and I loved every second of it. It was action-packed and filled with brooding Mafia Men that made me swoon. Enzo , Sarge and Killian are so swoon-worthy and so HOT. I'm keeping everything crossed there is more to come in this universe , because I loved the side characters too , I'm so intrigued by them all and i need to know what happens with them. Amazing five-star read that I would definitely recommend.

Holy Cow, just Wow

I was seriously counting down the days until this book was released after reading part one, and it seriously didn't disappoint at all. I read the whole book in one setting as it was just so good. The twists and turns made you want more and more to find out what happened next. I was sad when it ended as I wasn't ready to let these characters go. If you haven't read these 2 books yet, you seriously need to run, not walk to get them. You seriously won't be disappointed.

Great conclusion!

Part Two of Lair Lair had plenty it ups and downs. When Jordyn first came back, things were very tense for awhile. Enzo was furious that she had taken off after what happened with his mom. He's surprised when a family member comes back from the dead. And of course, they still needed to figure out who working against them.

The answers came to light in this second book. Revenge was dealt out in spades as this family came together to protect what's important. The end was very satisfying to see everything tied up.

I was so excited to see that part two was complete and ready for us to devour. And devour it, I did.

I loved how we got a little backstory with Mario D’Arco to begin with. It helped to fill in some gaps and made it more entertaining to read. The twist with Killian’s family was also a nice addition.

A part of me felt some bits were rushed – particularly the almost instant forgiveness between them all. I would have liked to see some more angst and grovelling, but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

4/5 ⭐

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Liar Liar book 2 continues to explore the innerstrengh of Jordyn and the lengths she will, and went through to not only protect both her sister Pixie but to stand strong as the D'Arco mafia Queen.

Enzo Sarge and Killian have a strong bond. Each one has a strong personality and compliments each other.
The leader
The protector
The enforcer
The combination just seemed to work. Jordyn is the glue and often the strength that keeps them strong.
Plenty of chemistry action and heartbreak sprinkled throughout the struggles of the mafia families.

3.75 bc meh...

I thought part 2 was okay. It was really convoluted, and the conflict felt forced and/or too exaggerated. There was room for so much more angst and emotional turmoil that I really missed in this one. There was a lot of action and violence, as well as high doses of spice. I wish there had been more of on page progression and development of Enzo and Sarge's relationship. Honestly it just missed the mark for me. (I did some skimming near the end bc I lost interest).

18+ and lots of potential triggers. Does have an HEA!

Part 2 is a huge success!
Killian is still my man- he's the perfect badass that only has a weak spot for 1 woman Jordyn
Sarge - makes an awesome protector he knows when to be lethal and when to be gentle
Enzo- fought his feeling for Jordyn AND Sarge for so long by the time he realized what was going on he was already in love with both.

I heard down the grapevine - Harper ( Jordyn's ) best friend is getting her.own book ❤️

The final part in this Mafia duet shows us the fallout of the massive twist at the end of the first book. I was not prepared for all the twists and turns, but thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced wild ride.

The relationships heat up in this book and we get some really good group scenes. Enzo and Sarge continue to explore and we meet some new characters in this book.

The ending was really satisfying and I'm now really intrigued for Harper's story.
