Skye MacKinnon is a USA Today & International Bestselling Author whose books are filled with strong heroines who don't have to choose.
She embraces her Scottishness with fantastical Scottish settings and a dash of mythology, no matter if she's writing about Celtic gods, cat shifters, or the streets of Edinburgh.
When she's not typing away at her favourite cafe, Skye loves dried mango, as much exotic tea as she can squeeze into her cupboards, and being covered in pet hair by her tiny black cat (who's secretly a demon).
Cat’s world is expanding and not all truths are ugly. Uncovering her past is the only way to move forward.
From the previous books we find out Cat is a science experiment created to be the perfect assassin. Now she’s free she wants to uncover what happened to her.
This is a continuous story and you need to start from book 1. I bought this book as an audio bundle (1-4).
It’s action packed with suspense, romance, mystery, paranormal characters and creative world building.
Hisss is deep, dark and emotional, and I enjoyed every moment of this story by Skye Mackinnon. This is so far my favourite of the Catnip Assassins series.
The addition of new characters into this story, as well as the deeper development of Kat’s relationships and past characters are so well written in this story. I was so absorbed into the story and experienced her emotions intensely.
I’m looking forward to the next adventure that Kat and her family are launching into with next book - Lick.
Skye MacKinnon’s Hisss (Catnip Assassins #4) is the purr-fect read. Hisss takes place following book three, Purrr. Kat and crew are dealing with all the destruction from the previous books. Top that off with the discovery of the existence of her sisters. Kat sets out to find her remaining siblings and forge a new life. This urban fantasy is suitable for adult readers.
Skye MacKinnon does a great job with this story. It is original and exciting throughout. Kat has an amazing support system. She struggles with some-odd changes in her behavior. She is a good leader. The twins and K2 added to the story. It was interesting watching the sisters interact and get to know each other. I still love the plethora of cats. They make me smile.
I love the Catnip Assassins series. It is skillfully written and thrilling. It is unique and thought-provoking. I recommend it to people who enjoy urban fantasies with mystery. I’m looking forward to book five, Lick. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Love the deep, dark and emotional adventures that Kat goes through as she continues on with her relationships and her newly found "sisters". There are so many things I could say about this book but it would be spoilers and I refuse to post spoilers in reviews.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A captivating read from beginning to end! An exciting storyline that leaves you breathless wanting more! Sexy steam filled chemistry! Emotionally heartfelt, enjoyable and fun! One heck of a twisted, intense rollercoaster ride! An amazing must read!

Wooooow the emotions in this book!! I didnt think it could more than what I felt in book 3, but challenge accepted hahaha. I think the peak was the devastating news about some of Kat’s siblings and how she found out. I am glad she has her family to help build her back up and she lets them in to do so. I am super intrigued to see where this plot is going, especially with 7 books total in this series, we are over the halfway point and Skye has covered a lot (love this storyline). I actually wasnt a fan of the siblings we got to meet at the end of book 3. I dont know if it was their personalities or actually their voices by the narrator but I wasnt really invested in them. I liked the flip with the newest sibling to be introduced and how they were able to help her become a person/counteract what was and is constantly happening to her. I was weirded out a little by the feral-ness that Kat had to deal with. I know she is a shifter, but I guess Skye did a good job bringing that out in her/pushing the envelope with the blood lust and all that jazz haha.
I thought there were a couple moments the narration wasnt true to the characters (one was with Ryker and it confused me and made me listen to a portion of a chapter like 3 times to finally understand what was going on). 3.5-4 stars from me, but definitely not a deal breaker or anything. Will continue to listen to these as they become available!!
Hope the next 3 in the series are out soon on audio, I want to see how Kat’s story and her friends/family of MEOW progresses and how many more twists Skye can throw at us 🤣.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Things are really getting intriguing with Kat now. She has pretty much lost everything while gaining a few new members to her pack at the same time. Lots of stuff going on as they get ready for more bad guys mixed in with relationships building at the same time. All of the new characters just adds a bonus layer to the story as a whole. Makes for a great read. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
This if the 4th audiobook in this series by Skye MacKinnon and the narration is spot on. This storyline in Kat's life is my favorite so far. It sent me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions but in a darker kinda way. The characters, past & new, are still developing which I find refreshing. Characters should continue to grow & develop until the very end & Skye MacKinnon understands that. The world is also evolving which I find keeps a series more fresh and interesting. This is a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AUDIOBOOK! Skye MacKinnon does not disappoint.
This is a “read the books in order” series. Start with Meow.
The books end in “not so much cliffhangers, but teases for what comes next“. “Purrr” ends with Kat greeting her “twin sisters” K4 & K5, aka Four & Ivy. Twins not only in the sense that they are the same age, but that they have developed a type of psychic bond.
The goal at this point is to rescue the remaining clones. First off, they try for K2, who has been altered and controlled to the point where she does her captors’ bidding. Initially only Gryphon’s siren gift can keep K2 biddable while they work to free her from the pack’s control.
Next, a favor to the wolves that Lennox works for — who call themselves the pride, since the pack was taken — yields leads to two more of the clones.
On the romantic front, we get our first mfmm scene. No sign of mm action; it’s all about Kat.
I got hit by a emotional scene and had to fight back tears. That shows how invested in the characters this series has me. She constantly says she's strong and badass, but she's learning being strong doesn't mean you can't cry or let others help you. There are some smutty scenes but now it's mostly references to moments they had with 1 or 2 pages detailing the scene. The relationship with her friends and sisters is a bigger focus here. And more discovery that hit her hard 4.3 stars
I keep telling myself to wait until there is a discount day to purchase the next book. I am definitely hooked on this series. I love Kat and her band of merry assassins. She is a softie. She is a tender hearted assassin with a completely feral side. I love it. The more she learns about herself and her sisters, the more angry and sad she becomes. I love how she rises to the occasion over and over again. Now on to the next book!
This book kinda baffled me, it was a great read don't get me wrong, while it's good to see the softer side of heroine, she seemed all over the place and completely overwhelmed, I thought ... I dunno But will read the next one definitely, am kinda addicted now likes it's catnip 😹
DNF. Couldn’t continue with the emotionally stunted FMC. Male characters felt underdeveloped, and it was just the same nonsense in each book with no resolutions.
While I have read this whole series to date, I have not yet reviewed them all. I'm going to have to rectify that.
This is the fourth book in the series and let me say things are really heating up. With two of Kat's sisters(clones) K4 and K5 showing up on her doorstep the M.E.O.W. crew are more than a little suspicious of them. The tow of them were created together and they are like twins, they complete each other's sentences and thoughts, it's a bit spooky. However the crew feels at the moment, then need to listen as K4 and Ivy(K5) have information about K2 and another pack lab.
What they have to say about K2 is not good but as always Kat hopes there is a way to help her after they get her out.
Since their house burned down, they are living in a wagon that was once owned by a circus. While sleeping with Ryker, Lennox and Gryphon usually isn't a hardship, the close quarters and their need for her sends Kat running. She runs until she's exhausted and falls asleep far from town. Ryker sends a kitten to find her and after waking Kat the kitten finds herself in a lot of trouble.
So now along with a new lab to find and infiltrate, we have a bunch of new wolves, not associated with the pack. First priority has to be the lab and getting K2 out of there. In the process perhaps they can get back some the research they lost as well.
Lots of action, suspense and plenty of sizzle too! I can't wait to read Lick the next book coming soon I hope!
The fourth book in the series and it continues with a nice storyline. It was well written and it had a nice flow. The downside for me was that these books are a bit short - around 200 pages. Also, there was a scene in the book which was supposed to be really sad but it was just kinda meh... I like the series and will continue it
This is book 4 to the Catnip Assassins and I loved this story. Kat and her guys are back in another action packed story, I thought that her sisters were a bit weird and creepy finishing each other sentences I suppose they are like twins after all they are clones and they are just like Kat in every way. Kat’s family is growing but the twins tell her about another lab and sister so Kat needs to find that lab and destroy it plus help find her sister K2. There’s plenty of action, adventure, danger, suspense, 🔥🔥 scenes and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages and I can’t wait to read the next adventure with Kat and her guys sand I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
This is a great book in this series. We continue to follow Kat on her journey. There is a lot of action going on and she meets another sibling. She is also coming to terms with the guys realizing she needs them more. She finds out about another lab and they destroy it and try to find the rest of her siblings. She does come across another tragedy and it just about breaks her. She realizes that she still has family and She needs to be there for them. She decides that it's best if her and the guys leave and establish a family of their own. A what will happen?
Overall this is a great book to read in this series.
Wow 😮 what another great 👍🏻 book 📖 in the series 🙂 as expected brilliantly wrote full of excitement and drama were you get to see the each of the characters grow and evolve being witty and funny in some parts and I just could not put it down 😊 Kat is a strong kitty 🐱 Kat who’s world 🌍 has been turned upside down , but with her family siblings and this gorgeous men of hers can she regain her reputation as a hard hitting assassin who kicks ass with not only her attitude and whit but her murdering skills to 😂 love it 😍
Kat is back and this time two of her “sisters” are there to help. They’re a little creepy as they continually finish each other’s sentences, but they’re deadly, like Kat. There are some big revelations in the book, and most of them aren’t great news for Kat, but she gets through it with her friends and her men. Be prepared with tissues though. Speaking of men…hot, hot, hot times with Kat and her guys. I’m eagerly awaiting to see how Ms. MacKinnon continues the story of Kat and M.E.O.W. I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
