I was not overly impressed with this book. It was mainly for writers to discipline themselves to write more consistently. Some of the advice was fine, but most was sort of condescending. I do intend to start keeping a journal of ideas that come to me. It seems this book is mainly for prose writers, so not so much for me. I am a poet.

A little smushy, more inspirational than pragmatic, although her sections on perserverance are quite good! Nice for getting started writing, or for picking up when you feel uninspired. I liked best her assertions about writing because it makes one happy--that's really the only reason in the end, of course.

I attended Jessica's writing workshops in Portland, Oregon. This book was fantastic and fluff-free. I need to read her book/accounts of the homeless soon.
