I love Ethic but Ashley almost ruined it for me with all that extra unnecessary dialogue. I hate that she put that 3some in there. It almost made him an average negro.

As much as I loved the series....

Part 5 and especially 6 was not a " GREAT " Read to me! I know you cant put too much into how it ends....because that's the Authors discretion 🤷‍♀️ but alot of us have come to grow to love MESSIAH AND MO'S story ! In book 5 or 6 they didnt interact AT ALL🙄 Ethic and Alani was fine but they could have ended a long time ago..I'm pretty sure I wont be reading " BUTTERFLY " because I'm not interested in mo without messiah! So..

First, let me say that Ashley A. is an amazing talent. She tells stories with such intensity, you literally feel as though you are sitting in each scene with the characters. I primarily consume literary content through audiobook form, so I was also pleased that they kept the same narrator from the previous novels as she does a great job keeping her rendition of the characters consistent and logical. So the work that went into the storytelling is not unnoticed.

Now, the content itself is where I have concerns. Each chapter felt repetitive as there were MANY proclamations of love and NUMEROUS sex scenes between the two main characters throughout the book. How many times can two characters express how much they love eachother in a single novel? Though the use of language and vocabulary was impressive, I found myself skipping parts because I was bored with the writer finding new ways to say the same things every chapter (spoiler alert: Ethic and Alani love eachother and believe the other is perfect and they are unworthy - and they say so every chance they get). And the sex scenes, though quite descriptive, at some point became redundant and unnecessary due to the placement. It felt as though she was creating Illogical instances in which the characters would fight so that they could be intimate, even when they’ve already done so within the chapter. I love erotic fiction, but this was overkill. It felt unrealistic and like a distraction from the original story. Page after page of the same thing just told a different way just came off as filler - at least half of this book would’ve been eliminated if the writer hadn’t insisted on being redundant.

Speaking of unrealistic, Alainis character changed so much from book one throughout the series, I had no idea who she was by the end. She’s tough with Morgan, direct with Bella, maternal with Easy and a pushover with Ethic. But, almost all of the characters think she’s perfect and can do no wrong. My biggest issue was with her and Ethic. No matter what he did or said, as long as he kissed her, fondled her or initiated a sex act, all was forgiven every time. How old is she supposed to be again? He embarrassed her by physically fighting one of her friends and acting like a complete jerk at an intimate engagement. Then he ignored her calls and didn’t come home. But once she saw him naked, all was forgiven and she was ready to have sex. At one point, she found out he was sending an ex money and may have had another child he didn’t tell her about. But once fondled her, all was forgiven again and she was ready to have sex. She couldn’t even get through a professional meeting to jumpstart her career until she was able to run to him, kiss him and get worlds of encouragement from him - in the middle of the engagement, while her guests were waiting and watching. I liked her in the previous books, but she was absolutely pathetic in this installment. Even Ethic was able to take care of his business without constant reassurance and being treated like sex doll, but somehow Alani found it impossible.

I wanted to like the book, I really did. But I feel like the writer compromised the story in order to make it more interesting to a small subset of fans. She also dragged the story out for what appeared to be no other reason but to sell more books without coming up with a new concept. I’m giving it 3 stars, but only out of respect for the author. This series of 6 could’ve easily been condensed to 4 or 5 even with keeping all of the main characters involved and their storylines going. I’ll probably check out the new series since I’m invested in what happens to Morgan and Bella, but I hope it’s a lot less fluff and a lot more more thought out character arcs.

I didn't like this book. It was drawn out and Ethic and Alani actually started to get on my nerves. Towards the end, I started skipping pages and only reading the dialogue. I was disappointed in this book because it was boring to me, but I would still recommend people read the entire series.

Wow is all I can say. Ashley doesn't disappoint in this series finale. The best piece of work I've read over the past year or so. Ethic, Alani, Morgan and the rest of the crew are some of the best written characters that you can't help but love! If you haven't read, what are you waiting for? You won't be disappointed but expect to be left wanting more.

I’m not a Alani fan, not sure if I’ll ever be but having the wedding at a graveyard ain’t weird? LOL like??? What went through the minds during this. Messiah.. my sweet messiah. *sigh* but what a damn journey. Love Ethic, love messiah, kinda love Morgan, love the babies, don’t like bash. Can’t believe she’s settling. Idk if I should start Butterfly yet or just wait till next year 😭

Ethic, the man you ARE.

This is SUCH a toxic urban romance/fiction read, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It almost has some type of addicting supplement to it because I literally couldn't put it down even when I wanted to. The drama, the love, the betrayal, and the moral dilemmas they were in? My goodness. Nobody could catch a break!

9/10 have to recommend.

This book had a very nice flow that encouraged the reader to keep turning pages. Especially if you love "love", the idea of love after loss, & blended families old to young, then you'll absolutely adore this book! I'm sure there's a little something in here for everyone!

As it relates to the character Ethic from the book, "Moth to a Flame", you get to meet an entirely different man. His name could even be changed because it's almost not even the same character. If you fell in-love with "Moth to a Flame's" Ethic, in "Ethic Book 6" he has certainly grown & matured beyond imagination. In this book he is Ezra.

My personal opinions on this particular book are not very positive moving forward. So I'd stop reading now if you're reading this review as a determining factor of investing your time in reading/listening to this book or not.

I believe Ashley Antoinette tried her very best with this love story. I wish I'd have known i was reading a "Harlequin-like Novel" book series. Verses the prior action packed, juicy goodness that "Moth to a Flame" was.

Although I admit the author has grown as well, I absolutely despise where she took Ethic's character. I truly believe if I could've related in the slightest bit to Alani, then I would've swallowed this pill better. However I found myself cringing at every, "I love you" & sex scene they had.

I did like the pacing of this book versus books 1-5. The traveling, the party, the weather even changed a whole two times! But they had endless sex. & I enjoy sex scenes, but this was just non-stop....just endless! If your reading paperback like me, just thumb through & stop on any random page.... it's a sex scene!

Furthermore, Ethic came off as possessive & that turned me way off. I don't even like Ethic anymore as a character. Alani would ask for space multiple times & Ethic would either cage her with his arms. Chase her down, show up unannounced, like on her daughter's birthday (supposedly one of the hardest days of her life) & he wouldn't care about her requests for alone time.

Yet when Ethic didn't want to talk about Raven, or would get upset about a matter & Alani pushed, Ethic would demand space apart & just expect Alani to comply.

Shea. Rub. Ethic. ? WTH ?

We had to read & re-read thoughts & feelings of how much they loved one another to the point where I just started skimming pages to see where the dialogue started again.

Alani is like a character that never started & never ended. After 6 books, we only know she showed up in Ethic's shop grieving and that's her back story. A plain, Jane, flint girl, single mom who bought her house with tax money. A deadbeat baby daddy & maybe a molester brother. Even after being introduced to her mother, I was excited to maybe get some background on what her life was like prior to her loss. But that lead to a dead-end.

Its like, Ethic walked into a Goodwill & said, "I'll take that woman, she's a mom, she'll do a great job for me!" & that's literally all she wrote.

Alani being jealous of a dead woman & wanting to have her wedding at said woman's graveside was just the absolute disrespect in my opinion. I mean, just every moment in Ethic's journey surrounded Alani.

Ethic meeting Alani's mom...no back story...just rehab.
Ethic looking for Alani's father, dead-end... just invites them both to the wedding to stunt in their faces.
Ethic reuniting with his own father... dead-end. Just to the wedding to stunt in his face.
Ethic flying Yaya hours out just for 20mins off of argument he had with Alani. Pointless.

Maybe Butterfly 🦋 will be better? Fingers crossed...

Some people gonna be real salty about this review lol! Now don't get me wrong I love me some Ethic but that man does not walk on water and has done somethings that he should not come back from. Same can be said about Alani.

We start the book where 5 left us. Mo looking for Messiah. Don't get me started on him (SMH). Anyway, baby girl was doing so good then bam, heartbroken with a baby on the way and the dad is MIA. Then we have Blue! Yall I promise I wanted to like this chick, but she falls as hell man they are not right for what they did they can call it whatever they want but Messiah and Blue were both dead as wrong. Mo, is running around looking for Messiah and she is 6 months pregnant and she is high risk. I am thinking of a girl man up and count your losses. Then at the same time, I am like dam this is messed up. As a last result, she goes to Blue demanding answers and of course, Blue with her shady ass knows what's going on with him and claims to be her friend. Yet she won't tell her what's up. Well, Mo overhears a phone convo with Blue and Meshia and she is on her way to with her back up boo Bas...

The story kind of hops for charter to charter so I will be all over the place lol.

Now we have Ethic and La, these two get on my dam nerves. I love me some dam Ehtich but he is not perfit! Like you have some many skeletons in your closet but got the nerves to be hot when the tables are turned. Boy bye.

La was not any better. She has some shit with her also and is far from perfect. Take the situation with La and Ny like why would you have that man all up in dudes face and house, going to counseling and stuff knowing you have a pass with Ny. So not okay.

Then what does Ethic do! Ethic calls YaYa of course! And what dose she do! Oh here she come running! WTH is going on!
Now I will say this YaYa read his ass when he had her in that room! I was yelling that's my girl! But dam YaYa is so selfish. She wants her hubby and Ethic at the same dam time and she doesn't care. I still don't know if that baby is his or not and its messed up.

After YaYa showed up and stirred up some shit we move on to the healing process. Ethic and La do the normal makeup and break up whats new there right. I was like girl just sit down somewhere we know you not leaving the man so stop ya running.

Then we have Big Zeek on the seen with his grimy behind. Who is Big Zeek you ask oh that's Ethic's Dooner. He blew in like a storm and ruffled all kinds of feathers, and opened all types of wounds.

Now I will move on to Ny! I love me some Ny and would love to have more of his story. He made me mad with the secrets but at the end of the day, I don't think he meant the couple any harm he was looking out for his family and La was his family.

Then we have Bas and Mo! I truly loved me some Bash and hope that he doesn't turn out to be a lame. He knows that Mo doesn't like him the way he likes her but he still wants her and for that I love him. I just hope this doesn't make him bitter.

Henny and Bella! Baby these two gonna take me out! do yall hear me! I liked Hendrix from the start but loved him by the end of this book! He knows that they both have some growing to do and he wants to know how to treat a woman before he steps to Bella. He wants to give her a chance to grow as well. Baby, I just know these two gonna be the next Mo and Messiah watch!

Yall I could go on and on about this book but I won't! Just pick up the book yall.

What a long journey this has been. 😫
No matter how upset I was with these characters, my heart warmed at Ethic and Alani finally being at peace. This book had a bunch of plot twists, had me pulling my damn hair out. I will admit, Alani definitely got on my last nerves in this novel. I hate that she isn’t more confident in herself, constantly bringing herself down by comparing herself to the woman Ethic has been with. Describing herself as some poor girl who got lucky enough to be with a man like Ethic. Don’t get me wrong, Ethic is all man. Every woman’s dream man, honestly. I completely understand why she is so submissive to him. But Alani is the prize too! She is an amazing individual, a great mother with a big heart. I wish we got to see more growth from Alani throughout this series. After all she’s been through, I would’ve loved to watch her blossom into this confident woman who knows her worth. I loved Ethic’s growth, watching a man pray who never believed in faith/God before, sent chills down my spine. This was really Ethic story, and I am so satisfied by how it ended for him, he truly does deserve happiness. I haven’t gotten attached to characters like this in a while🙏🏾 I am so glad I have the Butterfly series next. Onto Morgan and Messiah, let me prepare myself from now. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Finally a beautiful ending. I didn’t know Ashley had it in her to make me smile instead of crying in sadness. Still a little on the fence That Alani ass will run again she is so insecure.
Them getting married at the cemetery was cringey but it came together well I mean the way they fell in love was cringey. Lol

Pastor being Ethics Blood brother is still sending me because I want both of them. 🤣

So you telling me Morgan still don’t know Messiah had cancer? That is not sitting right with me. He died not knowing he had babies on the way. Wheew Chile. Where was her bestie Aria when she had the babies or even after hmmm !
& pls when will this Bash shxt end Morgan don’t want that man.

So all that time went and neither Bleu Isa or Meek told Morgan the man died tf?!!!

Christmas with the Okafors supposed to be next before Butterfly hmmmm Let me get some therapy first.

I feel like I just completed a Black Girl rites of passage—I read the 6 book Ethic series + Moth to a Flame (and I got the stress and scars to prove it lol). After taking this road with Ethic, Alani, Morgan and the rest of the crew, I am satisfied with the way this came to an end. Bella is my baby, I love her and Hendrix down— keep my baby focused, protected, and when the time is right—loved correctly.

On to the Butterfly series and Ms. Morgan.

Ashley Antoinette is what Picasso is to art in writing Ethic 6! The book is breathtaking!
The book didn’t quite end the way I thought, but I be a damn lie to say the levels of emotion wasn’t felt throughout.
These characters seemed so real. I cried, cried more, laugh, grew, forgave, got upset, and loved right along with them!
Moth to Flame (prequel to Ethic)and Ethic series is a must read.
Each reader of this book will be left singing.......I wanna love you in every kind of way
I wanna please you, no matter how long it takes
If the world should end tomorrow, then we only have today
I'm gonna love you in every kind of way!

Whew!!!!!! This Ethic ride was epic! I’m so happy that Alani and Ethic finally got it together and are loving each other. I love their love. I can’t imagine the feelings that they’ve gone back and forth with. Alain’s heart is huge and I can see why she’s feeling the Ethic Effect.
I love Easy’s easy going attitude and pure love.
Bella is growing up… Henny’s pretty and smart girl!
Morgan seems to be coming around. I hope that she’s an amazing mom. I want to see what happens with Bash. Messiah… 😭 Bleu has a heart of gold as well. I respect how she cared for Messiah.
Nannie is my girl! She keeps it so real.
Now on to Christmas with the Okafors.

IMMA STOP PROLONGING THIS & QUIT PLAYING TO FINALLY DO MY REVIEW ON THIS BOOK & SERIES ON WHAT IT BECAME.
IF ANY OF Y'ALL READ MY COMMENTS FROM ETHIC 1-5 & BUTTERFLY 1-5 THEN Y'ALL ALREADY KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT ETHIC OKAFOR WIFING UP THE WOMAN WHO SHOT HIM WHEN SHE DISCOVERED THAT HE HAD BROKEN INTO HER HOUSE TO KILL HER RAPIST BROTHER LUCAS & IN DOING SO ALSO KILLED HER DAUGHTER KENZIE WHO WAS SLEEPING ON THE PERV UNCLE'S CHEST: ALANI LENIKA HILL! MY OPINION HAS ALWAYS BEEN: THESE TWO DO NOT BELONG TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I DON'T KNOW WHAT ASHLEY ANTOINETTE WAS TRYING TO CONVEY WITH THAT EXTEREMLY UNNECESSARY THREESOME! IT BROUGHT NOTHING TO BOTH THE PAIRING OF ETHIC & LENIKA NOR HAD IT FOR THE BOOK OR SERIES!
I FOUND IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE THAT ETHIC WOULD BE FINE WIFING ALANI ON OR NEAR THE GRAVE OF THE WOMAN HE CLAIMED TO HAD LOVED BUT INADVERTANTLY KILLED: THE LATE RAVEN ATKINS!
I NEVER BELIEVED THAT MESSIAH WILLIAMS HAD DIED GIVEN ASHLEY NEEDED MESSIAH ALIVE IN ORDER TO MAKE A BUTTERFLY SERIES BE FRUITFUL & MULTIPLY BOTH THE SERIES AS WELL AS HER BANK ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WORD UP, THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A FOUR-BOOK SERIES BUT BECAME A MONEY GRABBING 6 BOOK SERIES!
TO PUT PLAINLY, I DID NOT LIKE ETHIC OKAFOR WIFING UP THE WOMAN WHO HAD SHOT HIM AFTER SHE LEARNED HE HAD KILLED HER CHILDKENZIE: ALANI LENIKA HILL! I'M NOT IN SUPPORT OF ETHIC & ALANI AS A COUPLE! NOR WAS I F--KING WITH THE ENTIRE STORYLINE OF THE BOOK & ENTIRE SERIES!!!!!!!!
I THINK RAVEN ATKINS WAS ROLLING OVER IN HER GRAVE CURSING THE VERY GROUND ETHIC & ALANI STOOD ON AS HE PROMISED A FOREVER LIFE WITH/TO ALANI WHILE HIS BAD PLANNING BEING THE VERY REASON WHY SHE/RAVEN ATKINS IS BURIED IN A COFFIN, UNDER GROUND WITH A TOMBSTONE!
IT WOULD'VE BEEN IN BAD TASTE JUST AS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IF THE TWO HAD EXCHANGED VOWS OVER/NEAR THE GRAVE & TOMBSTONE OF KENZIE.
THERE WAS ALOT GOING ON IN THIS BOOK BUT I JUST COULDN'T GET PASSED THE BLATANT PARTS OF THE SERIES'STORYLINE.

I don't feel right giving this book 3 stars because I loved this series, however this book was nerve wrecking. I honestly don’t understand the back and forth between Ethic and Alani, and the fact they always had sex instead of talking it out was odd. I also wasn’t happy about the threesome scene it just didn’t seem authentic to them. Morgan is still selfish, it’s always about Mo even if she give Ethic her “blessing.” Something is off about Bash to me, idk what it is. I really feel so bad for Messiah, he didn’t deserve to go out like that. I still love Bella and Easy, can’t wait to see Bella’s growth. I read this series back to back and now I need a break from the Oakfors!

I started this finale yesterday afternoon and could not stop reading until I finished after midnight. While Ethic and Alani had a few more mountains to get over, the emotions the characters experienced were felt as they worked out their problems the best they could. I enjoyed the ending as this was an wonderful series and one I would highly recommend. I am looking forward to reading the Butterfly series

Whewwww! We got a happy ending to Ethic and Alani! So many emotions in this book and I was here for it all. There can be love after heartbreak. Just gotta have a lot of trust and forgiveness. I love that we got a glimpse of Bella’s love interest! Poor Messiah! But now Morgan can spread her wings. Beautiful ending to the Ethic books. I’ll say this: I DON’T WANT ANYTHING LESS THAN EZRA OKAFOR! Now onto Butterfly!
