About the author

Sarah Weeks has been writing children’s books and songs for the past twenty years. She is a graduate of Hampshire College and NYU and recently became an adjunct faculty member in the prestigious Writing Program at the New School University, in New York City.

Her first YA novel, So B. It, which appeared on the LA Times bestseller list was chosen as an ALA Best Book for Young Adults and received the 2004 Parent’s Choice Gold Award. In addition to being an author, Sarah is an accomplished singer/songwriter. She has written for television, stage and screen and a number of her picturebooks include songs which she both writes and sings for the accompanying CD’s. Sarah's titles have sold well over a million copies, including several foreign editions.

Sarah is a tireless promoter, visiting schools throughout the country, serving as author-in-residence and speaking to teachers and librarians at national conferences including IRA, ALA and NCTE. She lives in New York City with her two teenage sons.

This is an absolute favorite for both of my kids. They laugh every time! It’s so much fun to make up different voices for the characters, and the story lends itself perfectly to dramatic reading. There’s also some great vocabulary sprinkled throughout, which makes it a fun and sneaky learning opportunity. A hit every time we read it!

One of my 6 year old students sat down and read this to me. She was able to ask me all sorts of questions, like "What do you think will happen next? Do you think he'll sneeze?" and "What animal do you think he'll meet next?" She was able to make her own predictions as we went along, so we both had great fun trying to guess who would come next to help the lamb sneeze. The ending was cute, and overall we had a great experience sitting down and reading together. Excellent for a student moving forward with reading skills, and great for parents, teachers, or other friends to listen as the young reader moves through sentences.

Very cute!
Poor little stuffy nosed Sam the lamb needs to sneeze but cant seem to get one out.
"Can someone help me,
help me please,
to find the ending
of my sneeze?"
He is offered assistance from a hen with a feather, a pig with pepper, and a couple of goats who kick up some dust...no single animal is able to help evoke Sam's sneeze, but with a little team work they manage to get the job done. Baa-Choo! Bless you.

This was a really fun story to read with my kids. It is about a little lamb who has a cold, but every time he tries to sneeze all he gets out is the Baa, not the choo. So, he goes around the farm and asks the other animals if they can help him find his choo. They try different tricks, like tickling his nose with feathers and sprinkling pepper until finally at the very end of the story he has a really big sneeze. Book has bright, colorful pictures that enhance the story.

As far as easy readers for your kids who are just starting to read, this one is a cute one. My boys loved the little story and my oldest enjoyed reading it. It was a really easy read for him but such a little gem as far as pictures and storyline. Much more fun to read than most early/easy readers.

When Sam the Lamb has trouble finding his "Choo" to go with "Ahhh", he enlists his friends to help him sneeze. Gwen the Hen, Sig the Pig, and Franny Nannygoat, all work together and the results are overwhelming!
