Our girls love to draw and our oldest has been borrowing a lot of how-to-draw books from her elementary school library. Now our youngest is starting to borrow them, too. She brought this book home today and she and her sister had fun drawing all sorts of horses. They are a bit horse-crazy right now.
The book has a very busy format, with an almost overwhelming amount of narrative, but it offers lots of tips and techniques for drawing realistic, mythical and cartoonish horses. Our girls prefer drawing the cartoonish versions.
Title: How To Draw Horses Series: Usborne Pocket Art Author: Lucy Smith Genre: Art Rating: 3 stars
While this book didn't turn me into a artist as a child, it definitely helped to improve my basic skills, i.e. It turned a stick figure horse into a pathetic attempt at one.
But all in all, it's very informative and a great starter for those with more patience than me.
