Autumn Trent #12

Autumn's Chase

Rate this book
Some evils never die—they evolve.

FBI Special Agent Autumn Trent is desperate for something to focus on besides the lingering emotional fallout of their last two cases. And the growing distance between her and Aiden Parrish, her supervisor and boyfriend. So when a new case lands on her desk, she jumps at the distraction.

Who knew bloodshed could provide relief?

The case is as gruesomely appalling as it is distracting. Two homeless drug addicts dragged to death by their necks, their bodies throw in the James River. More puzzling still is the discovery of the corpse of another homeless man a month before…killed in the same brutal manner and tossed in dumpster.

Why target those who’ve hit rock bottom?

Dead men don’t tell stories. With nothing to go on but three corpses that were never meant to be found and a questionable witness’s identification of a British accent, Autumn hits dead end after dead end.

She knows two things for sure. The sadistic killer enjoys torturing his victims. And she’s going to collar him before he collars another scapegoat destined for a harrowing death. Even if it costs her relationship with Aiden.

Autumn’s Chase, the third book in Season Two of Mary Stone’s bestselling Autumn Trent FBI Series, will force you to confront a horrifying truth: some nightmares aren’t just history repeating itself—they’re alive and relentless.

AUTUMN' S CHASE is the third installment in Season Two of the Autumn Trent Series by Mary Stone and they just keep getting better. Ms. Stone continues to show her ability to write fast-paced, page turning psychological thrillers. Her world and character building are superb and guaranteed to draw you right into the story -- leaving you horrified that something like this could be possible.

The team is in bad shape after their last two cases and team count is down to only four members and another confusing case to solve. Homeless people are vanishing and the only clue is two victims were last seen willingly leaving in an expensive dark colored car before being found nound and dead in the river. Not a lot to go on, but this team has had less clues to work with. This case is especially difficult as SSA Parrish is keeping secrets from the team and fracturing their trust in him, especially Autumn's trust.

Fast paced page turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The last few pages are pulse pounding with an explosive ending that just can't be true.

I can't recommend Mary Stone's writing enough, every one of her stories just gets better. Everything I read by this author is right at the top of be charts. Nothing can stop her. And, this second season of Autumn Trent is sure to have you on the edge of your seat.

I did receive an advance copy of Autumn's Chase from the author and this is my honest review.

Autumn's Chase is Book Twelve in the Autumn Trent Series (Autumn Trent: Season Two #3) by Mary Stone. This series is a gripping blend of psychological suspense, crime & investigation, and deeply human storytelling. We follow FBI Special Agent and forensic psychologist Autumn Trent, a woman whose own traumatic past fuels her relentless pursuit of justice.
Ms. Stone cleverly weaves high-stakes criminal cases with plenty of emotional depth. Autumn isn’t just a crime solver; she’s a survivor who is navigating grief, moral dilemmas, and the complexities of human behavior. Each book layers intense investigations with more personal stakes, making us (readers) feel both the adrenaline of the chase as well as the weight of the consequences.
Ms. Stone’s villains are chillingly believable, and the psychological profiling elements also added a fascinating dimension for us readers who enjoy the ‘why’ behind the crime as much as the ‘who’.
Fans of character-driven thrillers will appreciate how Autumn’s relationships - with colleagues, friends, and even antagonists - evolve across the series, giving it a strong emotional core.
Perfect for readers who enjoy crime thrillers with a smart, resilient heroine and a mix of heart-pounding action and psychological intrigue.
Happy Reading…

Just okay

Although I like the series, I am kind of disappointed with this book. I did not like Autumn being a know it all. She just became an agent. She flaunted, going against Aiden's directives right in front of her work peers. She was very reckless. She has a PHd. in psychology, and yet this is her behavior. She was really disrespectful to Aiden as a boyfriend and boss. She is really childish if she thinks it's okay to know every single thought in Aiden's mind all the time. No boundaries. No privacy. It's manipulative. It's one thing to use her special touch on criminals, but friends and people she trusts? I'm not feeling this character. Autumn's skills and behavior are a disconnect, and it makes the book hard to read. It seems kind of choppy. The Surprise ending is a nice touch to the book.

Oh chase it was! And for all members of the team. Terrible crimes infest the city and there are no clues, what is going through. Team is invited to help local police and slowly unraveling the clues and get stuck.
They still fight the aftermath of “the forest”, Aiden is the worst. The relationship with Autumn becomes strenuous and tens ljust like the case. The crimes are horrible the criminal crazy narcissist will stop at anything. The plot is unit and you will not want to leave the book and stop reading. I was sweating through and the end just blown me to the pieces. Oh Mary have mercy, you are killing me. Well , not really, maybe it was not the right person……such a great thriller. Bravo. Thank you Lida

SSA Aiden Parrish and SA Autumn Trent know the Nightmare Forest, but why are they still carrying the mental scars from it still. It's beginning to effect them in their personal as well as their work life. Will they be able to keep each other and their relationship afloat after the last book in the series, Autumns Warning.
A new case with men being kidnapped of the street and used for a horrible sport for the rich. They are bored with what they watch and bet for now but if you want to find the more specialized, for a price you can find something to bet on.
Will the case be a make or break of Autumn and Aiden's relationship or the team at FBI?
If you love mysteries you will enjoy this book, I have enjoyed reading all of the books in the series and I think you will like it also.

rhe last few cases the fbi team has ripped at the fabric of Aiden and Autums relationship.
they are struggling to survive but outside sources keep getting in the way.
While they attempt to discover why mutilated bodies are appearing in the area they hear of a horse race track but there are none in the area. they investigate some rich owners in the area but to no avail until they get a tip.
The team rushes to unravel the clues before any more bodies are found.
A MUST READ WITH AN EXPLOSIVE END.

This team is still adjusting from the trauma of the last two cases when two bodies are found floating in the local river and they are asked to help solve it. With very few clues as to why the bodies were in the water, Aiden’s team has their work cut out for them. Meanwhile tensions are still running high and they are having trouble working as a group. There are some very tense moments, and you must read all the way to the end.

What the heck!!! The ending was unreal and unsettling!!! Always love Autumn and Aiden, her SSA and boyfriend. People are disappearing from homeless encampments and being tortured in a heinous way. The search is underway for the killer and the team is closing in. Meanwhile, all is not great in paradise with the dating couple. The intensity of the last few cases is taking a toll. A novel that grips you from the start and doesn't let go until the end.

Spoiled Riches

A young man's body was found with injuries believed to have been caused by getting drug behind something going about 20 mph. A short time later two bodies were pulled from the river. Though they had been in water, the coroner determined they too had been drug to death. The team didn't have any clues but finally caught a clue in one of the most twisted was to murder someone.

Wowzer! Autumn & crew have to track down the person or persons who are kidnapping vagrants and dragging them on a track, flaying them to death. The last two cases have decimated their unit and have caused issues between Autumn & Aiden. How this story ends is one for the books and surprising as all heck. Mary, you did it again!

Autumn and her team are still trying to recover from the trauma of the blast 2 cases when they are assigned to a new case. Two bodies are recovered from a river with gruesome injuries and the team must try to figure out what happened to the 2 men.

The book is full of suspense and mystery and I would highly recommend reading it.

stomach-turning megalomania, secrets untold

What a cliff-hanger ending on ALL fronts!

Horribly mutilated corpses float to the surface, with unique, distinctive traumas evident on whatever soft tissue remains on the bones….

The revelation of the source is somehow both ancient and mind-bogglingly modern.

Meanwhile, Aiden and Autumn….a disaster….

WOW What a dramatic ending. I never saw that coming, but you have to wonder did it really happened or is he protecting someone he loves. What a great book the team solved the most violent crime in humanity. What people won't do for entertainment. I love the Autumn Trent series as much as the Winter Black series.

Autumn's Chase(Autumn Trent Series Season Two Book 3)

OMG!!!!!!!! This book was amazing. I don't think I can explain it, it starts with the team getting off a month long desk duty. Then they get a case that has 3 bodies attached to it. It gets crazy, with a lot of twists and turns. You have to read the series to understand. But I truly loved this book.

I can’t believe the ending!!

The in depth look at man’s inhumanity to man is really eye opening. So relevant today as the divide between perceived classes stretches wider and wider. It is amazing how cruel people can become when they look at fellow human beings as less than human. I did not like the ending.

As usual, I enjoyed another Mary Stone book. I'm not sure who proof reads these books or if anyone does but I have seen numerous wrong words used (not misspelled) in the Winter Black series and the Autumn Trent series. In this book, which doesn't even have Winter Black in it, instead of using Autumn's name, they used Winter, several times. Not sure why but someone isn't paying attention.

it’s ok

I’ve enjoyed reading about the same characters - they feel like friends! But the errors in the book are annoying. Autumn is called Winter in at least 2 places! Drives me crazy - you need better proofreaders!

A thrilling and entertaining novel

I love reading all of Mary Stone novels. The way she writes I can visualize and all most smell the gunpowder and blood that she describes not to mention the food she describes Winter and the rest are eating. Incredible truly incredible author.

A surprise ending

This book is different. Autumn and Aiden aren't a loving couple anymore. They are hunting killers and the team is not working well together. I still enjoy this author's books and am looking forward to the next one.
