Rivals to Lovers
Matrimonio por Conveniencia.
Ellos pertenecen a dos familias rivales y por ende ellos también los son, pero además estuvieron juntos en la universidad y ella lo detesta porque ella que se esforzaba estudiaba y era dedicada, él era más relajado no llevaba tareas pero siempre se salía con la suya, le preguntaban y lo sabía.
Años después en Las Vegas se encuentra por casualidad, y unos tragos de más y se casan quieren anular el matrimonio pero sale a la prensa antes que lo hagan y tienen que fingir que salían por un tiempo y que se casaron enamorados.
Me gustó, fue lindo, es una lectura entretenida.

The writing is mature and easy to follow. It dragged little bit, but it was a really good read. Gabriel was very swoon worthy at the end!!

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I almost didn’t read this, because I saw another reviewer I follow say that it had no chemistry. But I had just read this author's Honeymoon story (and loved it!) so I decided to give this one a shot anyway.
And I’m glad I did!!! I loved this story so much, and if I didn’t have to get up to let my dog go potty outside a few times, I would have read it in one sitting. I was that engaged in the story.
So about the chemistry. To me, this was a total slow-burn romance. The poker game, sitting on his lap scene, stands out right away as one of the chemistry filled moments…. The hero and heroine have known each other since childhood, antagonized each other forever and always had been competitive. It was an enemies-to-lovers story, but I love how the author didn’t make them over-the-top bitter, bitchy, or mean to each other in their bickering. I would say the hero was more of always trying to tease and push the heroine’s buttons in a fun way, and the heroine was more resistant to letting her guard down and having fun with it.
I loved the banter, the dares they placed on each other, how they slowly opened up to each other. I can’t relate to the billionaire lifestyle but I could relate to their feelings and how the relationship progressed (and that was the focus of the story). It felt plausible and easy to root for them.
I might read this again, still debating whether to place it on my keeper shelf. The only thing holding me back is that the hero seems all-in for a real relationship before the heroine does. She remains resistant to protect her heart a lot longer than the hero does. Normally I love a story more when the hero falls last. Just a personal preference though.
I can not wait for the next book though, Alec and Isabel’s story!!!! A total grumpy billionaire single dad / sunshine nanny story.

thank you to ali aka @thelavenderkettle on ig for this recommendation! while posting about the rule book by sarah adams, she told me about this book that has a similar plot in terms of a vegas marriage while drunk lmao and omg did it deliver as well! i absolutely adored best enemies forever and it was the perfect book <3 just how i like my romances to be
i love that the book is more about them learning how to trust each other instead of some outside people getting into their relationship. i do love that from time to time but i absolutely ALWAYS adore when they just focus on themselves ngl. i loved that they supported each other while they had no one before. gabriel doesn't really have any usual friends he hangs with - his work takes most of his time. and that happens to connie too. their work is such a huge part of their lives so everything else just takes second place.
so it's nice that they can understand each other and they're really the only peope that can understand the other... they're basically going through the same thing, with the companies, their families, and relationships. they have such a long history behind them, being from rival families and hating each other since high school. they had a little thing back in law school but it was only one night and they never mention it again UNTIL OFC THEY GET MARRIED AND START SPENDING SO MUCH TIME TOGETHER.
so i do recommend everyone to read this one <3 im excited to read the second one eeep ballerina x ceo x nanny/single dad? GIVEEE MEEE.

This is the third book I have read and enjoyed by this author.
These two have had a secret crush on each other for years.
As their families have been rivals company’s for decades. There’s no hope for a relationship between them.
Till one night they meet in a bar in Vegas, get drunk and wake up married to each other.
This brings lots of problems for them both.
Nice characters with humour and an interesting story.
This is the third book I have read and enjoyed by this author.

Best Enemies Forever from Miss Hayle does not hit the right spot for me. I do not like the boring characters and the plot that seems stuck.
Not the entire book is bad. But it is not great either.

connie and gabriel have orbited around one another their whole lives. their relationship strives on their competition to one up each other.
they shared one night together in college but besides that all they know how to do is argue and bicker with each other. one drunken night in vegas changes everything when they wake up married.
i’d say this is a slow burn. they don’t trust each other until around 70%. the tension throughout the book though! 🥵
i loved how gabriel wants connie and always has. he isn’t afraid to tell her and just waits for her to finally admit to herself that she wants him too. he’s been pining for YEARS!! knowing that arguing with connie is the only way she will interact with him and he takes what he can get 🤭
not sure if i’ll read the next book which is sad bc i usually read all by this author!! didn’t like alec in this book and it’s dead wife trope 🫤 with connie’s friend becoming his nanny. she falls first 🤢

4⭐️ Another great read by Olivia Hayle! This one was a marriage of convenience between Gabriel and Connie, two longtime enemies. They were taught to hate and distrust each other by their powerful families, but deep down they were always attracted to one another, even when they were bickering, when they pretended to not care, you could feel the tension and chemistry between them!🤌😩❤️🔥
I didn’t rate it 5 stars even though I enjoyed it A LOT, because this was a slowburn, which I absolutely loved, but given the fact that they were apart and bickering for most of the book, they only got together around 70/80% mark. And their connection only started to develop around that time, so in my opinion, this book needed 100-200 more pages so that the progression of their connection/relationship would feel more natural! Does that make sense? Did I explain it right?😂🫣
Anyway..
Overall, I really, really enjoyed this and would totally recommend it! There are very few authors out there who can write banter as good as Olivia Hayle does! Truly! The banter between her MC’s always feels so effortless and natural! 🤌🙌

Давненько не читала про весілля в Вегасі
Книга вийшла непогана, навіть миленька моментами
Габріель хороший чоловік, тільки шкода шо він довго мовчав адже їхні стосунки могли скорше початись
Конні знов дуже закомплексована ну і її не сприймають нормально її брати і батько, шкода було дуже її
Так то книга без зайвої драми, мені сподобалось що вони старші і швиденько все вирішили
Не знаю чи буду продовжувати читати інші книги, можливо пізніше адже зараз так є багато бажанок

Вони ворогують все своє життя, але алкоголь завжди допомагав їм зробити кроки один до одного😁
Конні сильна,розумна та цілеспрямована жінка,котра маючи ціль робить все щоб досягти її,працюючи важко і наполегливо☺
Габріель чудовий чоловік, розуміючий та люблячий, весь світ покладе до ніг своєї дружини, аби вона була щаслива. Дуже сподобалось,як він підтримував і захищав Конні🥰
Між ними завжди були натягнуті стосунки,але як на мене той вогник пристрасті та хімія ніколи не згасала у їхніх стосунках☺
Їхнє весілля у Вегасі було несподіванкою для всіх, а особливо для них самих 😅 Було цікаво читати їхні спроби виправити ситуацію, бо порід��итись двом ворогуючим сім'ям ніяк не можна🤭 Хоча не так склалося, як гадалося 😆
Історія цікава, троп від ненависті до кохання гарно прописаний. Мені подобається таке читати, особливо моменти коли вони нарешті приймають ці стосунки.
Навіть дуже поганій книзі я поставлю оцінку 3, але ця історія для мене на 4.5 з 5, в загальному мені сподобалось насолоджуватись прочитаним🥰

Five sexy feisty adorable 🌟
If I can describe the book as a person, it would be sexy, competetive, sweet, feisty, genuine and heartwarming.
I. LOVED. EVERY. SINGLE. THING. IN. THIS. BOOK!!!
This is my first time reading a Olivia Hayle book and I am not disappointed! In fact, I am so in love with her writing.
First, the plot is nothing we haven't read before, but it is done in a much more entertaining and complicated way. The wedding, the regrets, wanting for annulment, going public, pretending it's real, seeking divorce but not wanting it 🤌
Second, the MCs are both grumpy and broody but with the softest of hearts. They both have family issues. They both need to prove themselves to the world. But when they're together, they're a force to be reckoned with. She sings his praises to his skeptic family (her genuine true feelings and not her pretending to be his doting wife). He's got her back and warns her family especially her big brother against walking all over her and abusing her family values and loyalty. HOT 🔥
Third, the character buildup, the plot development, the sexual tension and the romance was done so so so well!!! I believed and craved every second of it. Olivia Hayle made me fall in love with the idea of them before there was even a them. And the fact that he wanted her since college but she was with that douche!!! SPLENDID!
They constantly banter but it is not in an annoying way, in fact it sets the tone for the rest of the book. They like to push each other's buttons and their comebacks are witty and smart. Bantering and their competitive nature even after they say their "I love you"s keeps their relationship on fire.
This is definitely one of my favourite reads this year.
My only but, is that I wished there were baby news in the epilogue. But that last chapter was so cute and hot.
"The months since Vegas have been some of the best of my life. I discovered what I like even better than arguing with you, and that's being happy with you. I've never been in a long-term relationship. I work too much, I come with terrible in-laws, and I have no fucking clue how to be a husband. But I want to be yours, if you'll have me."

Connie and Gabriel's families control two of the largest companies in New York, even though they had a fantastic one night stand back in college, they're sworn rivals.
They stumble upon each other at a bar in Vegas, had too much to drink, and woke up the next day married to each other.
It was a fun read but I wasn't attached to them as I was attached to Alec and Isabel (yep I read The Perfecr Mistake "book 2" first).

* the banter and sexual tension in this book was soo good! I was eating it up!
* Having the MMC fall first worked so well in this book because it made him have her back from the start. Especially with the way her family treated her.
Dislikes:
* I was hoping we’d see maybe a bit more of a softer side of the FMCs oldest brother so we could view him as a bit more of a human because this book clearly is setting up his story 👀 but man he’s a cold hard ass. I didn’t like him at all. Which is making it hard for me to want to read his book!
Omg thank you to Lori for the recommendation because this book is 5⭐️! The enemies to lovers is deliciously done, the banter A+, and the sexual tension is out of this world! I loved how the couple doesn’t immediately start living together either. It added a special dynamic that we don’t see a lot of times in marriage of conveniences. It’s a very well written book with a good plot and flows well. The story also has me sobbing from 85%-95% 😅. I could potentially thank that to natural causes as well, lol.
I would definitely reread this and recommend to anyone who is looking for a CR enemies to lovers!

I think it is the enemies to lovers that I have enjoyed the most in a while. The relationship between Connie and Gabriel is explosive, you can see the tension and the supposed hatred that they bring to each other due to the confrontation between their families' companies.
Specifically, I also really enjoyed their dynamic and the way in which trust and mutual comfort with each other are gradually forged.
It only takes two chapters to realize the chemistry of both and also that internal war that eats away at them to enjoy what, due to circumstances external to them, is wrong.

En este libro, los protagonistas han sido rivales prácticamente desde que nacieron porque las empresas de sus familias siempre han competido. Fueron a la misma escuela, la misma universidad (ambos se convirtieron en abogados) y, siguiendo los pasos de su familia, todo lo han convertido en una competencia. Absolutamente todo. Es por eso que, cuando se encuentran en las vegas por una conferencia, y terminan borrachos hasta más no poder y casados en una pequeña iglesia porque uno desafió al otro, deben encontrar una forma de solucionarlo sin que las consecuencias caigan en los imperios de sus familias. La tensión que siempre han arrastrado se hace más palpable que nunca, y es difícil dejar que los sentimientos fluyan cuando la posibilidad de una traición siempre está presente.
Amé este libro. Es ligero, rápido de seguir, con una trama simple pero que no se queda corta en cuanto a profundidad. Los personajes tienen una personalidad muy marcada y me encantó que eso fuera una consistencia aún cuando vemos una evolución excelente. La tensión que hay entre ellos, en sus dinámicas, en sus conversaciones, fue una de las mejores cosas de este libro, porque siempre prometía más. Al mismo tiempo, me gustó harto que están muy bien construidos, por lo que es posible empatizar con ellos y comprender sus motivos e inseguridades.
Connie es un personaje muy fuerte y que desde el inicio promete, y gabriel el golden boy que tiene mucho más para dar cuando nadie se lo espera. Sin duda, se convierte en otra pareja fav de la autora. Estaba tan enganchada que me lo leí demasiado rápido para mi gusto.
Le bajé media estrella solamente porque me faltó un poquito de contexto en su relación, como que en cierto momento el cambio fue demasiado rápido. Aún así, eso no impide disfrutar esta lectura como se merece, y quedar encantada con la bonita historia que creó la autora.

me lo devoré en cuatro horitas, adictivo. Enemies no son porque se tienen ganas desde hace quinientos años🤭 No se en que momento se enamoran pero no me importa porque tenia ganas de leer un romance asi, recomiendo para salir del bloqueo. Olivia nunca falla💋

¡INCREÍBLE! Dos rivales de familias rivales se casan en Las Vegas, no necesito decir nada más. La tensión que había entre ambos, la obsesión de Gabriel con Connie. Literalmente estaba OBSESIONADO con ella. Es que lo sentí todo, estoy muy feliz de haberlo leído.

I’ve never been in a long-term relationship. I work too much, I come with terrible in-laws, and I have no fucking clue how to be a husband. But I want to be yours, if you’ll have me. […] I’m telling you that I love you. Will you let me love you?”
so… 4.25 🌟 let’s sum this up 🤭 there are few tropes and things that were executed very well in this one and i’m going to present you with what we actually have in the book:
• enemies/rivals to lovers
• families rivalry
• forbidden love (in result of families feud)
• „MY WIFE”
• second chance (kind of - or something like „all those wasted years”)
• „us against the world” and some kind of „you got me in your corner, even if you don’t believe it”!!!
• fake dating
• something along the lines „we’re pretty much cut from the same cloth and i kind of like you because of that, but i also — hate you”
• one bed
• forced proximity
• „where’s my wife?”
and many other things. honestly all of what i mentioned above, the banter, how competitive they both were (see? same cloth stuff that i mentioned), the tension/pining in this one kind of felt like crack to me. i wish i was kidding. it made me giddy… i was literally giggling, kicking my feet…
to me fake dating is one of the tropes that can give stories the „high stakes” vibes, which is really easy to achieve in fantasy romance OR in mafia books, but sometimes not that well done in contemporary romance. and like i said — to me fake dating is one of the things that can help with that (because *gasps* WHAT WILL PEOPLE SAY? 😧😦). in my opinion. overall — i really had fun while reading this one.
BUT with connie’s oldest brother alec’s book next i’m scared. not only i don’t like him already because of this book (the constant undermining of connie made me want to pull all my hair out; he should definitely be more apologetic to connie, like what the hell), but also — i think i’m still scarred by „billion dollar catch” which was my least favorite read from this author, because it was also single dad/nanny romance, so you see what i’m trying to say here… fingers crossed and let’s hope for the best. honestly.
