As far as the people of Fallport were concerned, Misty Bridges was just the new girl in town with a service dog. What she didn't broadcast was that her dog Roya was a trained cadaver dog. Most people saw it as something ghastly, but she knew firsthand that a cadaver dog meant the difference between bringing a family member home or a lifetime of uncertainty for loved ones. It was a valuable service and Roya was a natural. Gabriel Armstrong has been a Fallport Deputy for a few years. He’s got a good head on his shoulders, and a work ethic that won’t quit. He’s seen the SAR team fall in love like dominoes and then his brother, Joshua. Gabriel thinks he might just be up for a Happy Ever After of his own, but it won't be anyone he knows. Especially Misty Bridges, who's new to town... they just can't seem to get along. His boss assigns him to work with Misty on a case in Richmond and it soon becomes obvious that she needs someone looking out for her, because she’s attracted the attention of someone who has no problem ending lives just because he wants to. With their lives tangled together, can Gabriel and Misty set aside their natural need to push each other's buttons if it means dropping the hammer on a killer? And maybe... they'll realize that their Happy Ever After is the person standing beside them.
Like Falling for Joshua, Falling for Gabriel has a strong "importance of family" theme running through it. Reina Torres keeps the Armstrong family's support and connection near the forefront of this very likeable romance. Misty Bridges has never had strong family ties and even though she welcomed by the Armstrongs with open arms, she's fearful of making a misstep that could take it all away. Gabriel's harsh treatment of Misty during a tense situation involving his soon to be sister-in-law has colored all their ensuing interactions. He needs to apologize. Now if he only figure out how. Misty's rather unique position as a cadaver dog handler gives him the opening he needs. Running interference for Misty and her K9 Roya as they perform their grisly searches brings out every protective instinct in him. Taking care of his girls becomes his mission. Showing Misty just how much he cares and how much he wants her is paramount. She's hesitant but hopeful. Misty's infamy puts all of Fallport on alert and finally has her understand that she's a valued part of the community. Unfortunately someone is out to harm her and Roya. Gabriel and Fallport are going to do everything they can to keep her safe. Will it be enough though?
This book was a lot of fun to read. This is the second book in The Armstrong Men series. The Armstrong's are a close knit family. They take care of their own. Gabriel and Misty did not hit it off...at first. Through trial and error, they finally started talking. Misty's dog Roya, is just too sweet for words. I love her personality. Roya is trained as a cadaver dog. Things go sideways when an unknown source poses a danger to Misty and Roya. Gabriel will stop at nothing to protect them both. Gabriel and Misty have a lot of obstacles standing in the way of the HEA they deserve. Get this book ASAP and see what happens next. Sorry, no spoilers. I received this ARC and here is my honest review.
A nice easy read for Gabe and Misty, add in the loveable dog, Roya, and it's a great escape. Their relationship did not start out smooth though, a bit of groveling was involved. Looking at her job from the other side, was eye opening, just thinking about the weight of what they do when they need to it, what pressure. Loved "you're inside my heart", and "hold on tight". The story ended abruptly though, you got an epilogue, but I was looking for a bit more on how they got to their HEA. Recommend these Armstrongs!
Another Armstrong falls hard & what a fantastic story. The chemistry between Gabriel & Misty is off the charts & Roya is beyond wonderful, and I kept wishing that she was a real dog. Throw in some mystery, drama, romance, and lots of suspense, makes this an irresistible book. I was really sad when this story ended, but I am looking forward & hoping that the Armstrong family story is continuing with Brody. You will most definitely enjoy this book & might even be surprised at how fast you are sucked into the world that Reina Torres created.
This is just another great story written by Reina Torres. She definitely has the touch when it comes to writing stories that take you all in. I'll have to say that this is the first book I've ever read that had a cadaver dog in it. I found it fascinating. Roya was such a good dog. I loved her relationship with Misty.
This story had it all. There was romance, danger, mystery, a dog and a super hunky guy. Misty and Gabriel were so perfect for each other. The heat rolled off the pages.
Thanks to the author for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
Gabriel and Misty…and of course the lovely k9 Roya! A quick read with action, intrigue, romance, family and law enforcement. The different needs for trained dogs was on display as Roya is a cadaver dog. I loved seeing her and Duke (bloodhound)from the Search and Rescue series. The miscommunication between Gabe and Misty was humorous and played out in a well timed manner. The two chiefs were excellent characters and so were the cousins. I hope to see Brody, Rachel, and more get stories!
Thoroughly enjoyed the book, am not sure which characters I liked best, but will for now say that I loved Roya the pup, she is amazing, what she did and found was above and beyond. Now for Misty and Gabriel, loved them too, sad to see what both went through and the creep after her because she did not like how he handled Roya, good for you. Loved seeing old friends and being in Freeport, love the town.
These Armstrong Men are hard to resist! Gabe is all grumpy, growly and gorgeous especially when it comes to Misty and Roya, I Iove that Misty has him so ruffled that he constantly says the wrong thing....or nothing at all! An Armstrong man so shaken he can't form coherent sentences is very swoony. As always it is awesome to return to Freeport, the Armstrong's and Avalon. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
I did not read the first book in the series, but when I finished Gabriel and Misty’s story I had to read Avalon and Joshua’s story.
Gabriel has had his foot in his mouth from the moment he met Misty and had a few things to apologize for, but I loved how he was protective of her from the beginning. The story has a few twists that I did not expect, a major douchebag and Roya is a star!
A new must read series for me! Thanks Reina Torres!
Gabriel, the grumpy hero and Misty, the sweet animal lover with a really unique job, had met in a previous story where Gabriel didn't make the best first impression on her. But you don't need to read the previous book in the series to get a feel for what happened back then to them. Gabriel explains himself in this book and manages to sort out his feelings for Misty. What I really love, besides the chemistry between Misty and Gabriel, is Misty and Roya, her adorable dog who has a very special skill. I won't spoil anything but Misty and Roya find themselves a target for a madman and they find themselves in some danger. So there is some excitement in this story that's not just the sexy kind. Definitely recommend.
Book 2 of the Armstrong Men series has Gabriel falling hard for Misty. Everyone knows it except him. He didn't make a good first impression and has been trying to find a way to correct it. When he is assigned to protect Misty and her cadaver dog, Roya, he soon finds himself in a mystery of who is out to hurt them. This is a story that will suck you in and keep you turning the pages. Ms. Torres has a winner on her hands. I received this ARC and voluntarily give my review.
I really liked Roya. I don't read many books about cadaver dogs, but this was a great story.misty and Gabriel have been dancing around each other and it's been interesting. Someone is jealous of Misty and Roya. I still gave this a 5 star even though I didn't like how the last chapter left off. HEA.
A great romantic suspense read! In book one of The Armstrong Men series you meet both Gabriel and Misty. They don't get along at first, so I loved seeing them finally work out their misunderstandings. I was waiting to find out what the killer would do next. Roya was my favorite secondary character. She was so smart and lovable. I can't wait for cousin Brody to get his own book.
Falling for Gabriel was fantastic. I love the slow burn romance with Misty. There is lots of suspense in the book, and I couldn’t put it down. It all started with him accompanying Misty and her dog Roya to a crime scene. Roya is a cadaver dog, and you won’t believe what is found. I look forward to more books in this series!
Gabriel Armstrong a deputy in Fallport VA. Sandra A waitress at the diner and owner of the cafe. Misty Bridges is a dog trainer.
Gabriel and Misty in their first meeting did not like each other ( a love / hate relationship). Gabriel was assigned to be her liaison between Fallport and Richmond PD. Misty’s job was to find a deceased boy with her dog Roya ( from a tip to The Richmond pd received).
Misty feels someone is watching her, someone is attempting,to take her away as well as her dog. Can Gabriel save her , her dog and have a Happily Ever After.
This book has suspense. Action. Page turner, twists, turns.
Wowsa this book was so good and will definitely have you enthralled from the beginning until the end and sitting on the edge of your seat. Gabriel has been wanting to get together with Misty but he seems to mess up every time he is around her but when she's called in for job he is her back up to watch over her. Can they find the killer in time or will misty be fighting for her life? Great story!
Falling For Gabriel is a fantastic read by Reina Torres. Gabriel and Misty's story is an awesome mix of drama, humor, sizzle, suspense and outstanding characters. And let's not forget Roya. I loved this story and look forward to my next book by Reina Torres.
I read a print copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Gabriel has had a thing for Misty for a while but there like oil and water when they're together trying not to let on, they like each other. When he is assigned to watch out for her, and her dog Roya things get interesting. I loved Roya and her personality it reminded me of by boy.
Everyone said that Gabriel was grumpy, well, that is until Misty. To Gabriel, the world turned upside down when he was around Misty. When she was in danger, both of their worlds collided and changed forever. Very highly recommend.
Enjoyed how Misty and Gabriel went from not really liking each other to falling in love . Roya is a cadaver dog who is very talented at finding bodies . Not going to say anything else except I really enjoyed this book
Loved how they worked their way through a difficult first meet and challenging other meetings. Learning more about each other in a very difficult case and a psychopath thrown in, to boot! I enjoyed their love story and happy ending!
I like almost any book that has animals, especially dogs, and this one is no different. The dog Roya just added that something extra to Misty and Gabriel’s love story.
Gabriel needs to apologize to Misty. He had taken his anger out on her and that was just wrong. Misty and her dog Roya have been called to work. Royal is a working dog. Gabriel will be going with. Maybe he can finally apologize properly. Gabriel and Misty are building a relationship when Misty disappears. Will Gabriel get to her in time?
