There’s been a shark attack! Local surfing celebrity Kai Koa went missing in the early hours. His body has just been found mangled in pieces with bite marks.
FBI agent Mia Storm couldn’t have been more thrilled about her assignment to Honolulu. What she didn’t expect were such bizarre cases to land on her lap. While enjoying breakfast at a local diner, murmurs of a local celeb's death set the place abuzz. But what started out as a crazy freak accident took a wilder turn. When a string of missing women and a body surfaced, all linked to the famous surfer. The only question on anyone’s mind now What really happened to Kai Koa?
The truth is fleeting and more shocking than even Mia could have ever imagined…
Cara Kent lives in a cozy apartment in San Antonio, Texas with her feisty black cat.

I love this series, each book is better than the previous one, I know I keep saying this but I think this book is the best of the series. Mia is getting more confident in her job and in herself, and it shows in her attitude and her way of thinking, and that's why the author keeps giving her more and more complicated cases. In this book what felt like if Mia is working two different cases in parallel one to the other turned out to be one case with a huge shocking twist. In all of the books on this series there are a lot of bodies but on this one the bodies count just keep climbing up and up, all thanks to a serial killer or, is it just one? I like the interaction between the FBI agents and how they work as a team, more so on this book than in any of the other ones. Not just Mia and Tony, but all of the members of the team have a significant role in solving this case. I can't wait to read the next installment in the series.
Mia Storm keeps growing and her latest case proves to be the most gruesome. The first body, who happens to be a friend of Tony's start leading the two FBI Agents to many more. Figuring out what they are dealing with and who is behind it proves to be most challenging. Ms Kent's writing has you feeling Mia's frustration as she is trying to figure out this mystery. Mia and Tony always have the other's back and Mia isn’t hesitant to jump to Tony's defense. The ongoing story of the child trafficking is still in the back and lurking with danger and suspense. Perfect reading for a cold blustery day!
Just loved this, if you think it is a cosy procedural it isn't and this is one that definitely isn't - there are some trigger warnings, but it was definitely a 'one session' read and I delayed my Sunday activities to read this it was so good.
The whole series just gets better and better - yes it is out there but so was Magnum PI and that worked.
I was given an advance copy by the author but the review is entirely my own.
This book in the series has been hardest for me to read so far and I am reading them in order. I always love it when the bad guys get their just due! Rape, murder, and serial killers make up this tale so if you can’t stomach it, I’d advise you skip it , but if these things don’t trigger you and you like a good crime drama then I highly recommend!
I’ve read 4 of this series; I’m done. Way too much discussing mutilations in every murder for me. The relationships are “nice” but shallow. Not enough character development. Lots of action/activity. Not enough about the amazing setting of Hawaii other than the food. Eli is really strange…barely there…just not my author I guess. Sorry, I wanted to get to know the characters and watch relationships develop while solving cases.. editing not perfect.
I was hooked from the first chapter. Special Agents Mia and Tony are drawn to the beach because of rumors that a leg and a surfboard washed up on shore. Was it an accident or murder? While investigating this case they are led to another murder. This is a good book, just twisted enough to hold my interest. Thank you to the author for an early copy. This review is my opinion.
This book is so full of twist, turns and depth! You will get sucked in and won't be able to get out until the last page! Follow FBI Agent Mia Storm and her partner, Tony Walker, as they try to find out why a local surfing celebrity died from a shark attack. You will be turning pages so fast!
This is a great series. It’s very hard to put the book down. I can’t wait to see if Mia & Tony hook up together. They seem like the perfect FBI couple. I look forward to the next book in this series.
This was the 4th book in this crime series and it was riveting. fBI agent Mia Storm and her partner are investigating the murder of a famed local Hawaiian surfer, Kai. The clues lead them to pursue two serial killers on the island in an exciting read from start to finish. Love this series!
I enjoyed this mystery! Mia has a straight forward writing skill. Mia Storm tells us about the cases as she and her partner Tony work out the details. Set in Hawaii!
So happy to have found this series by Cara Kent. They are great books. The characters are well developed, the setting is great and the stories unfold wonderfully. Highly recommended!
I liked the book but I think it was a little bit dragging . I did lose interest every once in awhile. There isn't enough romance but I did want to see how it ended.
