A woman with secrets. An alien on a mission. When their spaceships collide, explosive passions ignite.
What genius thought disguising a spaceship like an asteroid was a smart idea? Of course, lucky me crash landed while trying to mine it. Now my crew needs to find a real asteroid fast, or my ship will be repossessed.
And me? I’m stuck on the alien vessel until I repair my busted shuttle.
It doesn’t help that my new shipmate rubs me the wrong way. Lux is annoyingly handsome, unflinchingly arrogant, and loves ordering me around.
Plus, he’s convinced the crash was no mistake. How will I coexist with an infuriating alien who thinks I’m the enemy? Worse, what if I can’t keep my strange obsession hidden while I’m trapped all alone with him?
But then Lux’s touch makes me see stars, and I’m left questioning everything…
Bloodlust Voyage is book 1 in the Cosmic Lovers series by Leda Palmer. This interconnected standalone is packed with steamy sci-fi romance, enemies turned lovers, laugh-out-loud humor, cute alien pets, fast-paced space adventure, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
This alien romance was good but not great and tbh it could be because I already have a favorite alien romance series that nothing will ever top for me.
Arda is a captain of a mining ship and accidentally crashes her shuttle into Lux's ship. A little bit of forced proximity, playful banter, and flirting. And Lux is the equivalent of an alien vampire. So that's nice.
It was a little slow to start, but honestly had some good humor and the banter was what kept me going.
5.0 out of 5 stars Whew 🥵 Reviewed in Canada on April 28, 2024 Wasn’t sure what was going to be getting into when I started this book! But dang I learned some things about myself 🥵🙈
Cinnamon roll MMC and Feisty MFC with secrets, danger and spice! Couldn’t ask for more! Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
Not a bad read. Good enough spice. Got me out of my reading slump. I needed something low commitment not overly complicated. This was just what I needed. 😊
I received an ARC of this book. This was super cute, fast paced and funny. I love Arda and Lux. The book was well written and easy to read. Everything came together perfectly but definitely seems to be set up to be a series of standalones and I love the side characters. Thank you Leda, I will definitely be reading what comes next!
Arda is the captain of The Verne, a ship she pilots in space with a small crew of 2 others women, Ren and Zenda. Exploring space has been Arda's lifelong dream and she is finally making it happen. Although loans and payments are still a part of life even in space, so the crew is mining Jesillium, and they just discovered an asteroid in their path that has more than enough of it to cover the rest of the payments for their ship with some left over. But the mining drones the crew sent out come back empty, so as the captain, Arda takes it upon herself to take a shuttle out to get it herself. After she crashes, she discovers that it was not an asteroid, but another spaceship that was disguised as an asteroid.
The ship in question belongs to Commander Luxuth, and Arda immediately doesn't like him. He is suspicious of her being a spy and thinks she crashed into him on purpose, seriously?! And he is the only crew member on the ship, that's a bit strange too, and he is bossy, arrogant, rude, but also so handsome. But that doesn't matter, Arda needs to focus on the repairs of the shuttle, because she is stuck on Lux's ship and can't make her payments or mine more Jesillium until she can get out of there. As they try to work together to repair both her shuttle and his ship they can't deny their growing attraction for each other. But will Arda be able to control her strange desires while in his presence, or will she scare him away, or will he be able to help her finally understand a very important part of her family's history?
I loved this book! It was fast paced, fun, packed full of adventure and a little steamy. The book was well written and from the first page, I was hooked and completely invested in the story and the characters. The characters were all fun and likable too! Lux even has a cute alien space pet on his ship to keep him company.
I think that this was a great first book from this new author and I will definitely read whatever else comes next! And I would recommend that anyone who loves Ruby Dixon's sci-fi alien romances give this book a chance because I think you will love it too!
This book really put in the time and effort to make you feel like this relationship is going to work. The MCs work well together in a crisis and a lot of trust built over the course of the novel, as well as some serious and mature consideration given to their future together and how their lives will merge while fulfilling both of their dreams.
The MMC is on a diplomatic mission in a ship disguised as an asteroid (for discreet interstellar travel through non-FTL-capable systems) with the goal of creating an alliance between his people and Earth. His people are long-lived and have low fertility, and they are compatible with humans, so his goal is to find a mate on the planet and recruit other human women to take back with him to his homeworld to find matches there. To this end, his ship is carrying a large amount of a valuable tradeable mineral.
The FMC is an asteroid miner who has detected the mineral onboard the asteroid-camouflaged ship, but when her mining drones return empty, she takes a shuttle out to investigate and is unceremoniously grounded by the MMC’s auto-defenses. While they work together to clear the wreckage and make repairs, they get to know each other.
There are some twists with the FMC’s heritage, the MMC’s biology, and some villains who come by to steal the FMC’s cargo. While there is a third-act breakup, it caused not by wrongdoing on either side, but because the MCs have come to a natural separation point on their journey and they fear the relationship cannot continue after their paths diverge. As I mentioned, this is resolved in a mature way when the MMC decides to essentially convert his job to mostly-remote work so that he can travel the universe with the FMC.
Arda, the female human lead, has tried to ignore the cravings for blood and sex that she’s dealt with since puberty, especially since her grandmother was a serial killer found bathing in human blood. Then her spaceship crashes into an “asteroid” that is actually a camouflaged spaceship carrying Lux, the male Vampherian lead. Stuck together until they complete repairs because her shuttle has damaged his ship, she’s shocked to find that Lux’s people drink blood as a necessity of diet. She’s also far more attracted to him than she wants to be, given he’s supposed to be establishing a mating program between his planet and Earth and plans to take a bride for himself.
But after Arda’s crew mates are threatened by another group and they work together to rescue them, maybe the attraction is there for a reason, and maybe there’s more than insanity behind Arda’s grandmother’s actions…
This story is dual POV, well written, and a debut, alien/human romance from this author. I truly enjoyed the world that the author has constructed and the people she populated it with. I enjoyed the secondary characters and the multiple alien species. I enjoyed Arda’s fierce independence. I enjoyed the contrast between Lux’s bossiness at particular points and his willingness to follow Arda’s lead when it mattered. I enjoyed their intimate interactions and the relationship development. I appreciated the character development for both lead characters. I’m looking forward to stories for many secondary characters!
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
I read the blurb on this book and thought it had great potential. Who doesn't want steamy sci-fi romance, enemies turned lovers, laugh-out-loud humor, cute alien pets, fast-paced space adventure, and a guaranteed happily ever after?
I was not prepared for this book. It started out...odd. Then it swung a hard left to woah... Okay...hmm, turn the page. Ummm...huh. Then I cautiously moved on to chapter 2...
I committed to an ARC review so I kept going and, you know, it was not what I expected, but it wasn't bad. I started getting into it around chapter 6. Then I was intrigued as more plot questions were introduced and off we went. I thought it was going to be weird, but once things started coming together, I was invested. While Arda and Lux got an HEA, there's a small cliffhanger because now there's a mystery to solve. Next up is Zenda and Nash, I'm guessing, as they head to Vorillion to uncover clues.
I gave this book 4 stars because it's well written and edited - kudos to a new author. A lot of established authors struggle to figure out how to edit their books, and this one's off to a great start.
The concept of a vampire-like alien in the description had me hooked, but it was even better than expected. Arda is the captain of her own mining ship. She is stubborn and quick tempered but has a heart of gold. Lux is a sexy vamphere alien on a diplomatic mission to Earth. He is focused on one thing, finding a mate. They're two worlds clash together (figuratively and literally).. and the reat is just swoon worthy history.
It was surprisingly sweet and romantic. The spice is there, and yet left me wanting more. The side characters are interesting, and we get hints of other relationships along the way.
The perfect bookt o get you out of a book slup. Light-hearted, funny, cute, and spicy. The best part is that this book could be read as a stand-alone. It has a minor cliffhanger, but nothing too stressful.
I hope the author continues to make other books within this world. I want to get to know more about these other characters.. and hopefully get more glimpses of Arda and Lux's relationship along the way.
I had the privilege of reading this as a Beta for new author Leda Palmer. And oh my goodness I but LOVED it. Sexy, face-paced, funny as hell (like properly laugh out loud), it was also extremely warm, like an big hug in some places. I would have NEVER picked this up in a day-to-day read and I am so happy that I get to review it as an ARC.
Basic premise. Arda, a curvy, feisty, captain of a ship crashes her ship and is stranded with extremely handsome Commander Luxuth. A member of an alien species from the planet Pheria that are remarkably human-like.
Arda needs to get back to her crew and her mission, but the annoyingly good-looking commander is making her see stars and, for some reason, seems to want to help her. Plus he has a very cute alien pet called Smudge
There are vampire 'vibes' in the story and Leda has cleverly connected our own vampire stories to Lux's species.
I was kindly gifted this book by the author not knowing if this story would be something I would enjoy in all honesty but I was pleasantly surprised by how wrong it proved me to be. The enemies to lovers aspect of this story I loved! The tension and the HEA at the end was perfectly executed. The touch her and die vibes were immaculate🤌🏻. The humour, constant action were perfect. I can’t really fault this story in all honesty. I didn’t think it would be for me due to hearing a lot about certain alien romances that just don’t seem like my thing but this one is nothing of the sort.
The only real negative for me was that it took sometime for me to get into but by chapter 2 I was devouring this book and couldn’t put it down! I will definitely be reading more work by this author in the future. 🫶🏻
Bloodlust Voyage is a spicy, human x alien romance with plenty of humor, sexy characters and a fascinating world.
I found this story to be okay. Some things didn't work for me, but overall it was good debut. The writing was good. I liked the main characters. Side characters were great. Like Smudge. And Arda's crew. I enjoyed the humor. There were plenty of scenes and conversations that were hilarious.
Arda was such a fun fmc. She was a feisty woman who made me laugh with her comments and internal dialogue. Her background intrigued me and left me curious. Lux was an interesting alien mmc. He was very helpful to Arda and I liked that. Arda and Lux suited each other. Their romance was spicy and fun. Some of their spicy scenes didn't appeal to me though.
Some possible triggers: blood, blood play and mention of SA.
I received a copy via the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Leda Palmer.
Cosmic or Comic lovers? I got such a kick out of reading this one. Arda is a totally headstrong character with just enough vulnerability to keep her likeable and realistic. Lux is adorable and even when he's a little grumpy he still manages to be decent. The two MCs play well off of each other and there were a couple times where I legit LOL'd. There is some angst in the storyline, but nothing overbearing and the MCs work their issues out like adults which I absolutely loved. The writing style is smooth, flowing, and you don't get caught in a sagging middle. Overall, this one is just well done and I recommend it to any anyone who enjoys cute, sweet, and steamy reads with a touch of sarcasm and a side of chuckles.
I don’t typically read many sci-fi romance books, but this ones description caught my interest and I’m so glad I read it.
This book was as fun as it was action-packed, and at times had some hilarious banter. It was a quick read, but in no way did the story ever feel rushed.
Arda and Lux felt made for one another. The chemistry between them was intense from the start. Although, pre-translator for Arda, their first encounter was highly entertaining.
Overall, I can’t recommend this book enough if you enjoy a good sci-if romance. I’m looking forward to seeing what adventures are waiting in book 2.
Arda is a headstrong captain from Earth 🌎 with a bloody secret. After some unfortunate space travel, Arda ‘bumps’ into none other than commander Luxuth of Vamphere who is on a mission of his own.
Bloodlust is a steamy, enemies to lovers, slow burn with a powerful message in between the lines.
Book one of the Cosmic Lovers series gives us a prologue and 36 chapters of twist and turns that ends in a happy ever after!❤️
Keep an eye out for book two: Betrothal Voyage coming 2024!!!
Keep up with Leda’s projects on her Facebook page: Leda Palmer - Author and Kindle Vella
This was my first sci-fi book, I enjoyed it. Arda is a sassy human captain, Lux is soft sarcastic commander. I loved the way Lux just wanted to protect Arda & keep her safe, even if it meant risking his own life. There were parts of the book that I literally laughed out loud, it was a fun romcom. It was a little difficult for me to get into at first, and I wish there was just a little more world building. But also can we talk about how Lux made Arda lose count on how many times she finished? The spice was about a 🌶️🌶️🌶️. I can’t wait for the next book to come out!
I did receive this as an arc in exchange for my honest review.
Leda Palmer has reminded me of my love for alien romances!! this was such a great book to read and im really looking forward to the next one!! i always love seeing how characters in alien romances adapt to be with one another and how they work together for their relationship!! and yay!!!! i love when it isn't immediately the FMC that give up her life to be with the MMC but it's the MMC who does what he needs to do to be with his mate! also the smut in this was not just toe curling, but leg cramping 👀
Love Leda Palmer's Cosmic Lovers series that begins with Bloodlust Voyage. Arda is human female captain of a space mining ship with a crew of two other women. She goes to explore what she thinks is an astroid full of a mineral to mine which winds up being the cloaked ship of demi-royal vampire-like alien Lux. Arda makes the discovery that she is not the human she believed herself to be while battling pirates along with Lux and learning about her infamous murderous grandmother. What a great adventure!
The start of this book was a little hard for me to get into only because I wasn’t in a sci-fi mindset. However, it didn’t take long and I was hooked. Lux is a marshmallow big guy. I liked how he always looked after Arda but took control and turned alpha at the right times. Arda is a strong woman who just needed someone willing to do life with her instead of dictating things. Together they were explosive.
Giving this one five stars for being what it is meant to be. All of the tried and true tropes, wrapped up in solid writing. Occasionally, the pacing felt a touch snagged or rushed, and I would have loved the vampy aspect to be more fully-developed, but I found this delightful all the same. Excellent foundation for a series! If you enjoyed the Ice Planet books, and like the occasional bout of mild bloodlust, give this one a go.
🔸️ The story is action packed and fast paced. 🔸️ FMC is a strong, independent, fireball captain. MMC is a stoic, bit grumpy alien commander. 🔸️ The romance is insta-lust, but as the pair has some serious obstacles to overcome, the mutual attachement deepens. 🔸️ Spice is good, if you like blood play kink, you will be satisfied 😉 🔸️ The story is well written and smooth to read.
When I found Leda on Instagram, I was so excited! I love supporting new independent authors! So I immediately got her book! And BOY, she did not disappoint! The character development between Lux and Arda was dynamic! They were hot and cold, and I was on the edge of my seat waiting for them to just go all the way. Once they finally dod the deed I was so excited! The spice was spicy but they were so cute together! And the TWIST! OMG THE FREAKING TWIST! I was not expecting that. It is so worth the read! Highly recommend this book to all Sci-fi lovers! BRAVO LEDA! 🩷
Absolutely loved it! A "broken" chick with a vampire alien? Both pretty grumpy, but oh when the sparks start to fly?! So much fun! So hot and sweet and ... well, yeah. Absolutely loved the strength of Arda and her willingness to stand up to Lux. Lux was also patient and loving and let her be her. A wonderful read!
I wish I could have given this book 4.5 stars. I loved the alien/human story line and the tension between Arda and Lux. I wish we would have gotten more about Lux and Arda’s struggles when they were apart for the few weeks, but besides that, I loved it!
I’m hoping we get more about Arda’s history and about her mother in the next book!

Finished this in just a couple hours, as soon as I started I didn’t want to stop! Very steady moving, could be read as a stand-alone but love that there’s a little bit about other characters to make you want to know more about them and that it’s being made into a series! So thankful to be an ARC for this🤍
Really enjoyable read. My first space romance, that wasn't IPB, and I loved the strong female character our exploring without a man. It definitely added to the book and really pulled you in. A decent amount of world building, explaining the interplanetary connections with just the right amount of spice to keep it interesting.
The title makes sense now. I enjoyed this. I liked how the two main characters have something more. I like how the plot flows with the little twists here and there. This book has some humor in to which made more enjoyable to read.
This is very different to the usual tropes that I read. It is original, different and beautifully written. The world building is detailed perfectly. It’s a different take on the usual paranormal stories, which I loved. Can’t wait to see what comes next
Read it, loved it, was prepared to go down a vampire alien rabbit hole only to discover that this the only book by Leda Palmer on the kindle store. I hope she continues the series. I am very interested in seeing how this alien mate program that Lux set up on earth plays out.
