Dancing with Ghosts penned by the author Rita H Rowe is an interesting read. Main character of the story is Alex. She has left Melbourne and is starting a new life in Chernut, Australia. She accepted the gardener position at Lovelet Manor. With a man named Edward, Alex danced till her feet were swollen and her limbs ached. She now wants to see him again.
Read this story to find out who Edward is. What will happen when Alex imagines and sees things that can't be. The story is written in the form of letters that Alex wrote to her parents. Will Alex be able to save herself when the situation demands? This is a great paranormal romance story and I enjoyed reading it.
Plot of the story is unique. The book has smooth narration. This book will involve death, grief, complicated relationships, etc. Characters are written well and Alex's character is my favourite. The story will keep you on the edge as you will be curious to know what happens next. I like to recommend this book to my fellow readers.
Dancing With Ghosts by Rita H. Rowe tells the story of Alex, who has fled to Chernut, a small town in Australia, where she has accepted the gardener position at Lovelet Manor. She finds herself in a household where sorrow and defeat pull the small family living there under. Having her own demons and loss that haunt her every day, she is swept up in caring for the expansive garden, coaxing the dire-looking plants back to life. One night, she meets a man in the garden who wordlessly transports her back to a time when dancing came so easy and without guilt. As she becomes obsessed with Edward, she is shocked when she discovers who he is. Although Alex is not the most social person, she finds that the small family in the manor are hurting and alone, reminding her of her hurt and loneliness. She becomes friends with them, and when tragedy visits the house, Alex realises what she has to do to save herself and the family she fell in love with, but will everything work out as she hoped?
Rita H. Rowe writes a touching paranormal romance that deals with many dark and sad themes, such as death, grieving and broken relationships. The language in the novel evokes the theme of dance and music and has a soothing cadence, and the paranormal elements have a magical yet natural feel to them. As the main character, Alex tells her story through letters to her parents and her conversations with Edward. This poses an in-depth look at how internal conversations and thoughts wrestle in our minds to make sense of the sorrow and pain we experience. Only when Alex is faced with the slow death of a young girl does she see the effect death and grief have on a family, and she begins to understand her feelings of sorrow and guilt so that she, in the end, can become a stronger person. Dancing with Ghosts is a very touching and powerful novel that uniquely treats the theme of death and brings the reader peace. I strongly recommend this novel.
This is the second book by Rita H Rowe that I've read and it's quite different from Becoming Ruthless, though that being said I enjoyed it. The story follows Alex, who leaves Melbourne to take a landscape gardening job in Chernut. She is running from trauma in her past: the death of her parents and break-up of a long term relationship with an ex called Nick who she loved, but wouldn't commit to. There is a slow build-up as she gets to know the other people at the stately home where she is working: there's Rory, his wife Cheryl and their daughters Cathy and Netty with whom Alex bonds. Things get interesting when she begins to have ghostly visions of a handsome man in coat-tails known as Edward. As she finds out more about him, Alex begins to learn of her own purpose too. From Edward's introduction onwards was where I really started enjoying the story. If I were to have only one minor quibble, I would have loved a bit more description about how Edward felt to Alex, given that he was a ghost; he seemed to be quite solid, though I wanted to know the limitations of how much he could touch and feel in the modern setting. Aside from that I loved the story with its hopeful and bittersweet moments and ultimately satisfying ending.
