Grace Morgan is a woman suffering acute heartache after tragically losing everything she loved last Christmas Eve. She finds unexpected comfort in the form of Father Matthew Lara, a kind and devoted Catholic priest. The depth of their intimacy, and their uncontrollable lust, force them to reevaluate all they know of life, love, and divine purpose.
Happy release day to my lovely friend, Jennifer Rose! I’ve been blessed to read her writing over the last few years and now, seeing my friend publish a book.. I’m next level proud 💜
Lost Things is a book that will have you hooked from the first chapter and so enamored with the characters that you finish it in one sitting. It’s a story of loss and grief. But also of love and forgiveness.
Jennifer’s ability to write such depth and character growth in so few pages is a testament to how excellent of a writer she is. Matthew and Grace formed a friendship through an unconventional and heartbreaking circumstance. Their pull to one another was instantaneous but forbidden… Matthew is a priest.
I think everyone who follows me knows that I’m a sucker for a forbidden love trope. Lost Things is sinfully spicy 🔥🛐 read it!! You won’t be disappointed. 💜
What a debut. Jennifer is seriously talented. This was a perfect novella. Sexy, spicy, sophisticated. Congratulations on a stunning debut. Hope to see a full novel by this author soon. 🩷
A heartbreaking story that somehow finds its way to healing my heart all over again. I truly appreciated the way that Jennifer respected as well as captured the Catholic faith in this story. Grace and Father Lara were incredibly strong characters that had been through so much. Little did they know how much they needed each other. A quick, steamy read with loads of character development.

Having witnessed the process of this book coming to life has been such a joy. Jen’s ability for storytelling is absolutely captivating that it deserves to be in print. Lost Things to me, is about love ultimately being the strongest force one could ever know. What one is willing to go through, sacrifice, & do for it. Those who know how this story originated, know that all too well. Well done to you, my friend. Such a beautifully told story & sinfully steamy at that
This is the first time reading this authors work and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and really impressed, with the way Jennifer Rose built her story and developed her characters. I enjoyed it so much and it had me captivated from the start right until the brilliant ending. Grace has lost so much in her life, and she is looking for anything to ease the pain and heartbreak. She unexpectedly finds solace in the form of Father Matthew Lara, a Catholic Priest...The friendship they develop is so profound and precious. There is an attraction between them and they gravitate towards each other that both of them cannot fight. I felt so much compassion for both Characters and the conflict of feelings and emotions they were experiencing, especially Matthew. The things he felt for Grace and the way he felt about his faith was so heartfelt. They are actually an ideal match and I Loved reading about their romance, this is a love story that took them both by surprise. This is a book about finding Love after loss and finding that unique chemistry and connection with someone you never thought possible and also about forgiveness, forgiving yourself and forgiving others. I think this is an Fantastic book and I enjoyed Jennifer Rose's words, I would definitely read more of her stories that is for sure. Superb book.- Cat W.
What a touching and steamy book. Grace Morgan is looking for direction or a method to ease the emotional and devastating suffering she is forced to wake up to every day after one horrific night that tore her life apart. She finds solace, comfort, and companionship in Father Matthew Lara, a devoted Catholic priest. However, as their friendship progresses, so does their feelings for each other.
This is a powerful story of grief, love, lust and guidance. Matthew and Grace's story was such a journey and they both went through so much, especially as they tried to fight their feelings for each other, which caused them to reevaluate all they have ever known, especially Matthew.
Matthew was an incredible mmc, and my heart ached for Grace. I couldn't put this book down and finished it in a one sitting and THAT ENDING???!! 😳😯.
Thank you to the author and Wordsmith Publicity for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Loved it! Hooked on it from the very first chapter, the author did a great job in the structure of this novel. The chapters are short and the endings leave you lost for words!
I found the dialogues of the characters were deep and well developed; mainly Father Matthew, I think the author really captured the essence of a priest on his words, which is definitely not something easy to achieve.
The ending let me SPEECHLESS. Cherry on top for this book.
My only tiny complain is that it was too short and if it had been a bit longer, with a bit more teasing between the two characters, it would have been top notch.
All in all, a novel full of love and lust that will catch your attention from the very first page and won’t let you continue with your life til you finish it.
Thanks Wordsmith Publicity for the ARC, as well as Jennifer Rose, for letting me take part in this and have prime access to this magnificent book.
First, reviewer honesty: I was already familiar with Jennifer Rose's writing when I ordered this book. It's why I did! She has a way of making readers laugh, cry, think, feel, and just plain f*cking enjoy every moment spent in her worlds. Now, thoughts on Lost Things: Beautifully written, carefully edited (no 'pulled out of the story, eyerolling sentences or phrasing' to be found!), and two throughly well-developed main characters, especially for a short novel. There is enough plot and emotion to fill a book 100 or more pages longer. It's not one for pearl-clutchers, but a glimpse at the back and the excerpt in the blurb here should take care of that problem, and weed them out of the rose garden. Touching, hot, humorous, angsty, sad, joyful... did I say it's got emotion enough for a book nearly twice its length?? I can't wait for whatever she gives us next!
Can I pretend I haven't finished this book? I absolutely loved it!
Jennifer has a wonderful gift for storytelling and for understading characters and their emotions. The spice was 11/10 and the dialogues are brilliant, but this story is so much more! It's emotional, deep, sad, sweet, hot and above all: human. I already know I'm going to reread it. I need more of Matt and Grace! I can't wait to read whatever Jen writes next!
What a novel! This book was beautifully written with lots of spice 🔥🔥🔥 I just love Matt and Grace’s way of weaving through forgiveness and guilt to finding love in each other. And really love is the very foundation of many things. Job amazingly done, Jen!
4.5/5 stars but i rounded up. i devoured this book!! it was such a compelling story and i was rooting for grace and matt the whole time. i only wish it was a longer story. loved it though and this author is so talented & has such a way with words
“Lost Things” is not just a taboo story between a priest and a woman but about two individuals who strangely share an unexpected and unfortunate connection. Two people who never would have likely met unless tragedy brought them together.
There were several moments when I was taken aback by Grace’s experience and asked the “why,” as most often individuals do in her circumstances. Having a Catholic priest adds another dimension to the story.
Though short, I did enjoy it. There was detailed spice. I would have preferred “Lost Things” to be a dual POV. It would be interesting to understand where Matt was coming from. But overall, I was entertained.
I received a copy of this book for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.
Well this beautiful little surprise was the highlight of my week. This was GORGEOUSLY written and I flew through it. Jennifer writes the most beautiful words and this one will stick with me for a while. It’s emotional and poignant and charming and spicy AF. All the things.
What you’ll find: - Priest and parishioner - Trauma bonding - Pining - Tension - Spicy spice
Wow! This is such a gem! I loved getting to know both Grace and Father Lara! I read this in less than 24 hours! I could not put it down! The spice 🥵 of this book was perfect for the story! I truly enjoyed! A very well written book!
2 stars 🌟 this was definitely not for me 😹 i went into this thinking it would be like “fleabag” but that was NOT the case and that’s on me 🤷♀️ tbh i only read this to bump up my reading goal so that’s why i suffered through it 👏
This story touches on so many ideas, love, forgiveness, acceptance, despair and courage. I have read it many times and it evokes strong emotions in me every time. It’s also a very sensual read; prudes and the easily offended/affronted- scroll on by.
Don’t be fooled by the cover, this novella is perfect for fans of Sierra Simone. Profound, nuanced and powerful, Lost Things is a story of faith, seduction, guilt and acceptance.
The writing style is compelling and sophisticated, so much so that it’s impossible to tell it’s a debut. Rose writes like a seasoned author who’s been doing this for years.
This book is so much more than religious smut. It is poignant and thought-provoking. It has things to say and best believe, you’ll want to listen.
In the back matter, Rose states, “𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐮𝐩𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝. 𝐈 𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬.”
What can I say, I would read anything this woman writes! She has an incredible talent with words and making us feel deeply for her characters and what they’re going through. I’m excited to read everything else she has in store :)

This is an amazing debut from this author, and my word, she is certainly a name to look out for in the future! Grace tragically lost everything she loved in her life, and she has been left suffered debilitating headaches, but she finds solace and comfort from a devoted catholic priest Father Matthew Lara. The profound friendship between these two progresses to more, and the chemistry between them is undeniable. This is a beautifully written story which is an emotional roller coaster, with loss, grief, heartbreak, friendships, healing, and love, which leads to a moving and steamy page turner. I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I recommend.
Whew! This book will make you sweat! I say it all the time…forbidden love will forever and always be my FAVE. Now does it get any more forbidden than a priest?! NO! No it does not! This book had every aspect of forbiddenness that I love, but it also had the angst and emotion and deep, deep feels that suck you in and climb into your heart. Grace’s and Matthew’s pasts are real and raw. So much emotion. This couple will stay with you forever. A must-read for sure!
Though the author made me feel conflicted, part of me wished there wasn't the typical sex in church scene which is the most disrespect thing you could do. But the other part of me thought it was erotic/steamy. I also did enjoy that the priest had a choice in the end.
This was a fast and easy read. It wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. The story between the main characters was beautiful….but the spice made me uncomfortable.
Having read other works by Jen, this one did not disappoint!! I love the characters and the forbidden love trope 😈 it’s a quick read, yet the pacing is spot on for the story.
A emotional page turner! This book is about loss and finding your joy again. Forgiveness… how to not only forgive others, but most importantly forgiving yourself. About Temptation and deciding to do the right thing for yourself. Choices are hard and you have to make easy ones everyday and you have to make extremely difficult one once in awhile. What happens when that difficult choice effects more than you. How are you sure you are making the right one. Faith…you have to believe in yourself and have Faith in the people around you. This was a rollercoaster of a ride that I’m happy I took. Matt and Grace are strong characters that had great back stories. They have an undeniable pull towards each other that couldn’t be ignored. They were definitely made for each other and Faith brought them together in an unexpected way. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
What we get: • Priest • Forbidden • Tension • Trauma bonding • Spicyyyy
I flew through this spicy and heartwarming novella! Jennifer’s writing was addicting and the way she wrote Grace and Father Lara had me rooting for them.
A series of unfortunate events bring Father Matthew Lara into Grace's life. Grace has experienced great loss and pain, but she finds herself in the church watching Father for reasons you need to read to find out 😉
