I'm still trying to understand what kind of hurricane I came out of...what was that? I promise I wanted to write a review for the 2 books separately, but I'm not capable of that...I started the first book monday night and it took a little time 'till I got used to the "world" I was reading about. Yesterday, I couldn't stop reading and pulled and all-nighter to read the second one because...jezz how could I go to sleep with the way the first book ended? It was impossible!
I have so much to say about the two books that I get lost where I should really start. Have you seen Gossip Girl? Yes? Imagine it takes place in London, and it's 3000x more overly dramatic. Really! It is chaotic. All characters are in someway toxic to each other, there is a lot of cheating going on, dr*gs over-abuse and all that family and friendship drama that is supposed from the young adults of high society. It is so bad that it turns out to be good. As I said in the beginning, it took some time for me to get used to the "world" I was reading, but once you are inside, it gets really hard to get out. You get so entangled in it that it feels like...in that world, the things just make sense. Some points got me wondering, like: "WHAT THE BLOODY FUDGE IS THIS?", like...the way they feel for each other, how they work around each other (so toxic that should be forbidden), the overwhelming meaning behind the Dec.3rd (wich I think was really important in the beginning but then it was taken away it's value out of the blue), how every guy in London is so desperately in love with Magnolia when if you look close, there is nothing to love, she is actually a brat that always took BJ for granted (he did too), that never stops to listen, who is so used to have everything in her hand that when things go out of her control, she just...run away. Why in the world? A mistake that could be explained, maybe not understood from Parks side, but explained...had this turn out? 2 books for 2 people who don't trust each other but only trust each other. Who adore to sleep around and date around, but only want to date each other. Two people who just don't understand each other... but are the only ones who do, actually, understand each other. I don't know about other readers, obviously, but I felt like...Magnolia would play the music, and BJ would dance whatever she played. But as soon as he tried to play something else or change the instrument, she wouldn't listen. Two piece-of-work, handful people that are so disfunctional that they actually function. And I am so glad they always come back to each other because nobody deserves to be shattered by them. They deserve each other, and I believe they will spend the rest of their lifes killing each other.
Believe it or not, I will just read the last book because of how this one unfortunately ended, because I feel no excitement to know how their life's going on. It was a good book once you were "inside," and in some way, that is what's amazing about Jessa Hastings' writing. It's so intense that it drags you out of your own mind, and that is something she should be really proud of.
Worth the hype? Yes, I think so. Is it worth reading again? Absolutely not. I'll "see" them again at the beginning of next year, and there is where we'll say our forever farewells.
For the first time in my life I gave up and did not finish a book. I got 1/3 of the way through and thought why am I wasting my time with this? It was boring and I hated the writing style.
"She is a beautiful, affluent, self-involved and mildly neurotic London socialite. He is Britain's most photographed bad-boy lothario who broke her heart."
"Can you die from a broken heart do you know? And if I did and they cut me wide open would I bleed loving him." QUOTE.
The most rawest, emotional, frustrating and the most loved book I have read. Every woman or girl who read this story will connect in some types of way. Whether that be for the romance, the friendship, the fashion or the setting. This world, this book, these characters are now a brand. Jessa has created something so incredible. The hype around this book now is insane.!! I first read read a couple of years ago now. I went in blind and honesty. All I could think about my my teenage years, the loves I had, the loves I didn't have because of my own decisions. You will connect with this story in one way or another.
If you haven't read this book yet and I know some people are scared that it going to break their hearts. All i can say is give it ago. Give magnolia a chance. Give Beej a chance.
At the moment I have read book 1 to 3. 4 and 5 I have NOT picked up yet. I am dodging spoilers everywhere. I wanted to start again as it had been a while now since I read it. I've decided to listen and read.
Reading is amazing but listening is better. I was shocked when the audio started. Ella-Rae Smith is the most perfect narrator. Omg She came to life.!! She smashed it.!! And Benjamin Noble who narrors Beej. I loved him he is the one who took me back to my teens and early 20s. Every boy I had a friendship with or some sort of relationship sounded like him lol. ------------
Eifersucht, Begehren, Schuld, all das bekommt Raum.
